If anyone is feeling generous, would you be willing to watch my asmr spirograph video on Tiktok? I'm getting better at sound and video editing and I'm really proud of it. You don't have to like it if you don't enjoy it... but I hope you do enjoy (and like) it! 😊
P.S. Since it's pride month, I used Bi flag colors for this spirograph. 💙💜💖😁

When I was very little, my late grandfather would carry me on his back like a rucksack. I remember one particular time when he was taking me home from the kindergarten in his old ass Zhiguli and he was talking to me about death on the backseat. I couldn't have been older than 4 or 5, that was the last time I remember that car being that particular hideous beige colour before it got painted again. I remember feeling a sense of dread, like, the first time a young person understands the meaning of impermanence. Like, gone-gone, not just 'went away', and I took it really well. But then he'd carry me to the door on his back for shits and giggles and I told him that I'm like his backpack full of backup organs. Now I'm trying to understand why the fuck I knew what kidneys and hearts etc where, probably from the annual hog slaughter, I'd always have a grand time poking at the discarded organs under the apple tree while the rest of the family kept de-hairing and gutting the carcass.
It came to mind because once I grew up I'd see my grandparents very scarcely, young adult life just got in the way, you know. Grandpa died a few years ago from COVID complications, though he held on long enough to attend the last family birthday of me, my dad and my stepsister (we're all born in October), and then less than a week after he was gone. I've been missing a lot, I was a total granddaddy's girl and I can credit my interest in art to him, because I got to play with all his pencils, pens, markers, rulers, spirographs etc while he took me to his work. Video games, too. I'd play some rally game, and Alley Cat on his work computer (that'd be the mid to late 90s then).
Now whenever I'm in Estonia all I can do is tidy up his grave. I've been missing him a lot, so I'm recalling memories of promising to be his organ donor as a little kid to remind myself that grandpa did know that I always loved him. Grandpa was a mensch. He taught me to drive a tractor! Well, to an extent, because I got to drive and fuck with the levers up top, my feet couldn't reach the pedals.
I'm due to go back to Estonia again in a week, so I need to visit grandma and let her know too. I'm taking my journal. She's always lamented that the stories of old times will die with her, and she's always wanted someone to record them, so I'm going to ask them to tell them to me, and write them down.
I didn't use to care when I was a permanent Estonian resident but now that I've been away for almost two years, I'm hurting for home, man.

John Egbert, The Chess Grand Master's Girlfriend
(page 422-423)
8/1/2009 Wheel Spin: Parent Bad :( (again) Verdict: STILL VERY INCORRECT
These pages introduce a whole bunch of new concepts, but make a lot more sense when read side by side with page 251, which has already hinted at these (making Act 2 feel really well planned out). A lot comes together this way so this is 1300 words of Lore Discussion.
The Seven Gates - These appear to be the seven blue spirographs we pass through in first person POV on page 422, and also the blue spirographs that appear above John's house on page 251. These look like some kind of stepping stones (in-game achievements?) on the path to Skaia.
The number seven hasn't appeared in Homestuck yet, but in Western culture it is seen as a lucky number, and in Christian numerology it symbolizes perfection and evokes the seven days of creation, as well as the seven deadly sins. There are seven notes in a musical scale, and we know the characters are musicians, seven colors in the spectrum of light, and color appears to be symbolically relevant, and seven is the average roll for two six-sided dice, which are very commonly used in board games and tabletop roleplaying games.
Skaia - A spherical blue place covered in clouds with a white spirograph/flower shape in the center - perhaps made of pure sky, due to the name and its transparency. Of course, Sburb was created by Skaianet Systems, so its designers have some ties to this place. Its associations with height, sky, light and potential clearly relate it to the Christian concept of heaven. However, it's also referred to as a 'dormant crucible,' with a crucible being a scientific or alchemical container that can withstand extreme heat, used in historical metalwork and modern laboratories. The science and religion dichotomy is here to stay.
Nannasprite refuses to say what the 'unlimited creative potential' of Skaia means, because she won't give spoilers, but I immediately think of creativity = art. All the characters have hobbies that relate to creating and consuming different types of art, but for the most part they're not very good at it and/or don't have great taste. Skaia being something that unlocks their artistic potential - but at the same time, being something they have to put in a lot of work to reach, just as getting good at art takes practice - is very cool to me. However this could also relate to biblical creation, similar to the seven gates = seven days.
Skaia is 'untouched by the flow of time' and has so I absolutely think that people at Skaianet Systems accessed the creative power of Skaia and used it to create a video game that went far beyond the standard capabilities of technology, and that this power is the secret to their success (and how an unknown company made such a smash hit game on their first try).
Forces of Light & Darkness - Sburb is a classic good vs evil narrative, represented by the black and white pieces on a chessboard. Again on page 251, we see the flashing white/black/blue kernelsprite divide into not two but three parts - a white part that ascends, a black part that descends, and a blue part that remains with John. It's possible that these three parts all share knowledge via the game engine, explaining how Nannasprite knows so much about what's going on overall. She then becomes the bridge between the good faction, the evil faction, and the player whose arrival changes the game.
Seeing Skaia as artistic creation is interesting here, because it's exclusively associated with the forces of light/good. In the real world it's definitely possible for art to be used for evil, to attempt to manipulate people and intentionally spread negative and harmful messages, or just to mistreat the people who create it. In Homestuck, forces of darkness 'covet the destruction' of creativity (according to Nannasprite), which is a closer parallel to arts in the real world being underfunded and undervalued, with capitalism forcing people to work long hours at jobs where they're not able to stretch their creative muscles and that don't leave any time or energy for creative hobbies. The metaphor definitely works, but I'm really curious on if Homestuck will explore the idea that art isn't necessarily a perfect universal good.
Curtains/Stage - The many layered red curtains in page 422's animation share a design with the red curtains on page 247, marking the end of act 1. This positions the curtains/acts as representing different locations - John's house on Earth, Skaia in the Medium, likely others, perhaps corresponding to scene changes on a stage that need to happen behind a curtain. Nannasprite also uses the word 'stage' to describe the setting of a duel between light and darkness, coding Homestuck and/or Sburb as a theater performance.
Chessboard - So there's a 1986 musical called Chess, and I think any parallels are probably coincidence, but it's still fun to think about just due to the chessboard on page 423. The story is a metaphor for the Cold War, represented by a US and Soviet chess champion (which from an American perspective at the time were the forces of light and dark, although in the modern day I do not personally share this assessment). A Hungarian/English woman dates both of these chess grand masters at separate times, who tries to calm their rivalry and is simultaneously manipulated by it.
At the time, musicals were not seen as an intellectual artistic medium, and creator Tim Rice was explicitly trying to create a more literary musical that would be taken more seriously, which is similar to how Homestuck is expanding the possibilities of a webcomic. Also notable from Wikipedia: the original set designer (who was replaced due to illness) 'had planned a "multimedia" show, with an elaborate tilting floor, banks of television monitors, and other technological touches.' I'm going to look for a recording of Chess and see if there's any further comparisons worth making.
John's Role - Yesterday, Nannasprite said that the Incipisphere came into being via John's computer, but also stands independently of it and always has. Today, Nannasprite says that the forces of light and dark have dueled forever in eternal stalemate until John showed up. This was confusing to me until I realized it's exactly how video game worlds work - they 'come into being' when a player installs them and begins playing, but at that point the characters and world already have extensive history. No matter the story, there's no way for any faction within the game to 'win' or for certain key things to happen until the player takes action. The player character's arrival into the game is typically the inciting incident that spawns a new chain of events, beginning to change the course of the narrative.
John's arrival changing everything doesn't necessarily mean that he specifically is a fated hero, just that he's the player character. He probably has a choice of paths to follow in the game, and can choose whether to ascend to Skaia and fight alongside the forces of light, or descend to the weird smoke below his house and fight alongside the forces of darkness, either way ending the stalemate if he succeeds. I wonder what the morality mechanics are in Sburb, and how they correspond to John's echeladder.
If I was to wildly theorize, I'd say that if John fights alongside the forces of light, reaches Skaia and beats the game, he'll be able to draw from that 'dormant crucible of unlimited creative potential' to not only undo the destruction of Earth, but also to create Homestuck itself, and release this work on the day his adventure originally began (as he's now outside the flow of linear time) instead of releasing the Sburb beta. This would bring a lot of meta elements of the story full circle, would help explain the multiple layers of commands and commentary in Homestuck, and would make our world's story and John's story into one consistent narrative. If done well, I think that could tie everything up very neatly.

ok anyways!! here is an unnecessary analysis and thoughts and deranged yuri (imo).
slight spoilers for season 2 below btw
anyways. to me pop team epic is like. somethibg that essentially changed a bit of me. because remember when I said every pairing I like's dynamics circled back to them. so.. yeah its kind of. unironic. but anyways . i'll use a few sources for this,, and probably go insane mid ramble. but anyways. i feel like the most solid showing of how theyre always bound together in a way is the entirety of season 1.
youtube
right on the chorus part youll see like. im bad at describing visuals. but it's s bunch of Versions of pipimi and popuko in different whateverthefucks, still being. pipimi and popuko. it still is them no matter what. ehat makes me even more deranged is the lyrics to sumire uesaka's POP TEAM EPIC (the song used for the season 1 intro--) lemme get the first chorus. i used this video as the source for the english lyrics
"a visualized spirograph repeats,
a geometric pattern of destruction and imagination
/
after the cut off,
we can meet once more
while journeying through a parallel world
so notice the inlaid wish there,
and remake the world"
REMAKE THE WORLD. remember that pop team epic was first a 4koma. so now that that remake the world part is there, I have a sort of belief; i believe that each time the 4komas change, it's a past world, the characters have their memories like, "erased", but still stay true to themselves (" we can meet once more / while journeying through a parallel world") with the wsih to. Meet again. like do you get me. AND still using the lyrics- this is proven with the 2nd pre chorus;
"seems it's goodbye again,
i'll be waiting for you in the next world."
AUHHHHJGG. IT'S LIKE. THEY'LL HAVE FORGOTTEN EVERYTHING EXCEPT EACH OTHER. AND THEY KNOW THEY WILL. AND AAAAGH. this also means; there are multiple pipimis and popukos from several alternate timelines and universes.
uh now we're jumping to the END end (for now) - by that I mean the season 2 finale.
if you've watched it up to episode 12, youve seen aoi and nishikawa's fight, and Remember how I mentioned how there are several pipi&popu(s) from different timelines and universes? yeah that's the exact proof of it. because of the whole army of them that just. magically summons. showing LITERALLY ALL (presumably) of the different ones from this season- pipi/poputan, pipihara and popuoka, the pop memories to you vers, a bajillion others, I AM SAYINH. LITERALLY ALL. this does go in line with aoi's storyline a bit. but I'm gona spoil a bit too much if I start talking more
so, right, as I've said before, yes there are several pipimis and popukos on different timelines. the whole thing is, I think that's beautiful. i find that theyre bound together in a way no matter how many times the scenes change and no matter how many times their memory will get erased, they will seek out for each other no matter what world. and that's. beautiful. to me. BUT. do you wanna see me get more deranged, and make such a big stretch that it straightup defies toon force (haha please laugh that was an attempt at being funny)? ok yes you do.
so a thing I see often is people drawing their blorbos as pipimi and popuko, like for example panel redraws, I've done that too, and here's where the Big Reach starts; what if even these artworks, are an example of them finding each other no matter what?
i'll be using my own comic redraw as the example- here I redrew one of the comics from pte (the cutesy sleeves one,), as the rockers. and while those are not directly pipimi and popuko, they. Kinda are indirectly, like going back to the "there are multiple pipimis and popukos and they will find each other no matter what universe" thing. they're not exactly pipimi and popuko, hell they aren't even pipimi and popuko- at least not in this universe. but still, pipimi and popuko have found each other again, even if that means- through some poorly drawn rhythm heaven fanart. because. it still connects them in that fictional universe, this one being rhythm heaven, yes. basically pipimi and popuko are a state of mind, too. their bond, and, love if you wanna see it as that- it's transcendental. it's beyond any 4th wall. it's a sort of yuri being told through absurdist loose jokes.
tldr; pte is yuri multiverse

October 11 2024 2009
Ok ok ok ok ok, wow theres a lot going on here. I took so many screenshots to piece things together but tumblr only lets me post 10 :')
SO. WV does make it up the ladder and we zoom out to see Zazzerpans hand that was missing from the video feed in Roses house.

Zooming even further out, the bunker is in the middle of a crater, presumably from the meteor yet to hit Rose. We do see what the countdown achieved however. The cylindrical bunker rockets into the sky, with the green Sburb house logo painted on the outside. WV and Serenity are taken 'A CONTINENT WESTWARD' where we once again see Johns home hit with the meteor. We also get coordinates: Lat 47.362101, Long -122.054144, Elev 4130 (!). The impact completely wiped out the entire suburb and changed the shape of the river. As time passed, sand accumulated in the crater and from it sprouted a tree.

This tree grew some sort of sphere shaped bunker(?) also with the Sburb house logo that then dropped as the season changed to fall (and how odd it must be to change with the seasons that no longer exist).
We learn some things. First, this is where Peregrine Mendicant is and explains where they got : 1. the shopping cart and 2. all those mailboxes. I wonder what spurred their obsession with mailboxes or maybe thay treat them similar to how WV treats cans? Second, the star we saw approaching PM is actually WV rocketing by. WV spots PM and waves as PM gazes up. By this point PM has made it to the bunker so at some point hopefully we will get to see inside.

'AN OCEAN WESTWARD' and 'NOT MANY' years in the past a volcano is active. Zooming out into space a familiar spirograph appears in space and launches a meteor.

The resulting crater is partially filled with the lava from the volcano upon where Something or Someone builds a pyramid temple with seven layers. Each layer is engraved with Sburb spirographs reminiscent of the seven gates and atop this pyramid is a frog. There are also four pillars in the crater with smaller ones on the edge. Time passes and and waters rise, turning this into an island.

We jump to the present where Rose is attempting to get the generator running and narrowly misses getting hit with a fallling aflame tree. Mom gazes out the window, and even without eyes her demeanor is one that screams of knowing. How? I dont know. But as the lightning flashes we can see clearly what is on the side of their home.

Another spirograph.
Punching in 413, she reveales a secret bunker under Jaspers coffin. She knew this would happen. She planned for when it did. And I scream in frustration that we wont be able to ask why.

On the dark planet, Dad is alive and semi well. Captured, but not for long. We forget these are trick handcuffs. And this man has learned the trade his whole life.

What gets me is... does he just keep cake and shaving cream in his sylladex at all times? Are these his strife tools?? The second hes free he is guns-a-blazing ready to take on his captors and for that I applaud and fear him.
Back to the rooftop with Dave and Bro ready to strife against a blistering backdrop. Finally we see Bro beyond the silouhette as the light flashes across his shades.

WV finally reaches their destination, the frog temple, now beside a new crater where the volcano once stood. As the bunker descends we get more coordinates: Lat -0.955766, Long -174.759521, Elev 3077 and falling.
What battery had remained is now gone and WV gazes upon the frog.

End of Act 2

I could look this up, however you seem to be the resident expert. What's the short form lore with Home Stuck and how is there so much of it given I'm told it was only a very short web comic?(mind you this might be wrong but I have no idea)
Bro whoever told you Homestuck was short fucking lied to you man lmao. Approx 8100+ pages and at least half of them contain significantly lengthy samples of text that's essential for understanding what's going on. But that pill is a lot easier to swallow because the text is almost never too dry to sift through and is instead usually either hilarious or otherwise engaging with emotional moments between the cast.
As for what it's actually ABOUT:
Four kids play a game that isekais them into a world between universes for the purpose of creating a new universe to repopulate and rule over (or not), while also causing the earth to be destroyed by meteors.
Due to an absurdly long series of events made up of a Spirograph's worth of Time Loops, their game session goes off the rails and they have to work together with a group of internet trolls (who are part of an alien species from another universe literally CALLED trolls who are the grey bug people with candy corn horns you've no doubt seen) to salvage everything going completely FUBAR, all while dealing with their own personal issues.
I dunno why so many people have such issue explaining this, it's essentially a Creation Myth story rooted in Late Oughts/Early to mid New Tens internet culture. And thank God because if went on any longer than that it'd be as awful as the Epilogues and its sequel, which you should ignore because they're about as CURRENTYEAR as you imagine.
If you get into it, look for the fanmade Unofficial Collection which even the author Andrew Hussie himself recommends because after Viz bought the rights to it, they fucked up the page order and all the Flash animations have been upscaled shittily in youtube video format.
Its prequel game series Hiveswap is good. The Hiveswap Friendsim game is good. Pesterquest is good (mostly), really just avoid the Epilogues and Hs^2 and you're golden.

Y'all I started a silly little spirograph art account on Tiktok and just got a notification that my insights report was ready for a recent video.
These are the search queries that led folks to that particular video.

Okay so 33.33% each means it's clearly just three individual searches right.
But.
I'm having a hard time understanding how my spirograph video showed up in the search results for "giantess feet crushing animation".
And I'm cracking up that apparently the user still clicked through to watch a spirograph video. I hope it wasn't a disappointment. 😂

As Easy As (Circles of) Pi: A Love Story in Frequencies - IMRAN®
My fascination with Fourier—and Laplace—transforms began back in the early '80s during my Electrical Engineering days at UET Lahore. These mathematical tools break down any complex signal into a sum of sine and cosine waves, each with its own frequency. It’s a beautiful trick that makes even the most daunting waveforms easier to work with.
The idea goes all the way back to the early 1800s, when Joseph Fourier suggested that even the most intricate patterns—like shifting tides or rustling winds—could be formed from simple, repeating waves. It was revolutionary.
Think of those Spirograph toys we used as kids: plastic gears spinning around to create intricate patterns. Now imagine those circles representing different frequencies, combining and rotating in sync to draw something as elegant as the Pi symbol. Complexity, unspooled into rhythm and rotation—with a touch of childhood wonder.
This image is a collage of four screenshots to illustrate the idea. The short reels/videos I linked in comments below bring it to life in a magical way that feels both modern and nostalgic.

Hello there! How ever are you?
I, also, adore spirographs: I have a couple different sets.
Would you be at all willing to divulge to me what computer program or other which you are using to accomplish your awesome designs which you post on your blog?
Thank you for your time! ^~^
Sincerely,
Jess W.
Hello @owlzowlz Thank you for showing interest in our designs. We use Python programming language for designing the pattern. And then use video editing software for adding music and basic editing. If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you.
