I still share plants opinion regarding IG. I think they’re phasing harry out, in part because he contributes very little compared to what they spend on him. And secondly the UK military no longer want him as the poster child post spare release. And the only reason why it hasn’t happened yet is because of Charles. But I personally don’t think that Charles influence will continue that much longer. IG wants to get rid of them, and if he doesn’t show up to the event in may it’s rather easy for the UK to not award the next games location. Would harry put up a stink?? Absolutely, but that’s when they’ll pivot on in on her and ARO.

I agree. I wouldn’t be surprised if Invictus Games has been trying to cut Harry lose since Megxit when they lost their Royal prestige. Because without Harry’s Royal status connecting them to the UK Ministry of Defense, what exactly is he needed for?

I think it was Plant who said this (but it could’ve been another blog) but Harry and Meghan have managed to make *every* *single* Invictus Games about them:

2017 Toronto IG: they debuted their relationship and it was all anyone talked about

2018 Sydney IG: they announced Meghan’s pregnancy and it was all anyone talked about. Not only, there’s pretty consistent gossip that the Sussexes only showed up for the ceremonies and barely attended the actual events/games.

2020 Dutch IG: postponed to 2021 because of Covid

2021 Dutch IG: postponed to 2022 because of the Olympics and no one wanting to risk their spots on national teams (though the official story is that it was postponed for Covid).

2022 Dutch IG: they turned it into Meghan’s Fashion Show (and stiffed IG with all the bills) and a BetterUp sponcon. But all anyone talked about was their pre-IG visit to Windsor to see The Queen for the first time since Megxit (a visit that Meghan had to leak directly because there were no photographs).

2023 Düsseldorf Games: another Meghan merchfest and BetterUp sponcon, but all anyone talked about was Harry’s papwalk visiting his grandmother’s grave on the anniversary of her passing and his comments about it.

It’s not good for any charity’s bottom line if their patron or sponsor is dominating the news to the point that their spotlight excludes the charity itself. There are definitely people at Invictus who understand this and who are probably fighting hard to let Harry go.

After all, Germany is able to do its own national Games independent of the charity and without Harry. Reading between the lines: Germany Invictus has some kind of corporate backing from the “main” charity to do this spin-off version. Especially if it was made clear that they didn’t want the Sussexes involved (as the press did when the announcement was made).

I know I said this before but I think it bears repeating: if Germany Invictus does really well without “main” IG and without Harry “promoting” it, I think they’ll go ahead and cut Harry loose altogether because it will have proven what’s been known since 2018 - that the Sussexes are a huge liability for the people they claim to support and advocate for.

the only circumstances in which i can see this happening are if dudley becomes a big-name boxing star. something i greatly respect about cho in canon is that she knows her worth and doesn't waste her time on flops. cedric diggory and roger davies are widely touted as the best-looking boys in the school, and she has shots with both of them at times when they are very much in demand [cedric for the social event of his period as triwizard champion, roger for valentine's day]. she goes out with harry [despite, as pansy goes out of her way to point out, him being mid] because he's got social clout and she respects his political principles, she dumps him when he decides to act the clown.

which is to say, she's not putting up with dudley if he's doing nothing more interesting than working as a junior manager at grunnings and being rude to children in the street. she's busy building a brand promoting #sponcon for the #tornados and winning the wizarding version of love island by being canonically gorgeous and fun. all the while enjoying the side hustle of jetting around the world being a boxing wag on her days off.

Today, even more obviously than usual, literally everything is fake-- except Cliff's birthday which I have no reason to disbelieve! Happy 5th birthday to the good boyo Cliffy the dog!! Now onwards to the guys, who are very much working this weekend, even if that work is to pretend they Being Very Chill and Doing Chill Stuff.

A fan receipt placed Harry at Azoff owned LA restaurant the Apple Pan last night; there would be nothing at all odd about Harry eating food at a restaurant in the city where he currently is, or even choosing to go to one owned by his friends, but it's difficult not to side eye the location when the Azoff name is invoked, and sure enough! By morning rumors of him having been there with Olivia were circulating, along with a picture so blurry it could have been anyone, but sure- it would make sense if it was them. We all said the ridiculous insta follow would be followed by some more Very Casual and Private Holivia content we just Happen to see, and yep- it seems we're now firmly in (extremely ham-fisted) “make it look organic” territory, although if they think having an actual news outlet saying “it's DEFINITELY not promotional, just like if anyone was wondering if it's promo one thing it definitely is NOT is promo”, using a public blog to draw attention to a 'private' instagram account that has been known and publicly said to be Harry's for a year, or having the pair go for an outing to a restaurant OWNED BY THE AZOFFS are going to sway people from thinking this is laughably fake, WELL. Just call ME a news outlet cause I have a breaking story for them about how likely that is...

Zayn, who has been tweeting about UFC (and ONLY UFC) all this last year, has moved into doing more official spon-con for them, which I guess retroactively explains why he was publicly tweeting about just this one single thing. Anyway, he posted a blurry pic of swag they sent him, including a big ass prize belt (“the belt is a naughty little touch” uhh okay calm down) and later he tweeted about a fight. Niall also tweeted about the same fight (along with many golf related posts) and I never thought I'd think Niall tweeting about sports was anything other than from the heart but damn! Now I gotta ask, is he getting paid too? Meanwhile stans- “so is UFC football?” “no I think it's basketball...?” TBH not sure we're the ideal audience for this ad content lol, but get that coin boys! (I'm gonna be real with you guys, I thought it was boxing this whole time AND not a single one of you corrected me so we are no better over here: it turns out it's Mixed Martial Arts fighting!) Niall also posted a bunch of golf related things which I would never question his passion for but even so, that is promo too, for his golf management company. So a business day all around.

Zayn and Niall also let us know that we could look forward to, respectively, a Vibez music video behind the scenes which sounds really cool and I'm excited for, and a golf chat interview which, well as established I might not be the target audience for but I'm sure that will be... very cool... also?

Liam's joining this week's stage crew support news, raffling off... himself! Well, a 'VIP experience' with himself anyway. He’s raising money for #ILoveLive (which provides help for UK stage crew charities)- entries are ￡5 each. We saw the impact that these fundraisers can have just today: Niall tweeted that his live show was able to raise enough money to help pay over 150 people’s wages in the UK (although we do not know how much a person receives). He also liked WeNeedCrew’s tweet that announced that many more Irish crew members will also be aided by the show’s donation.

Louis’ live show is next (AS WE ALL KNOW) and fans have begun organizing for other fans who can't afford tickets, which is a brilliant display of both kindness and community that grows and sustains a fandom. This, of course, did not satisfy trolls who insist that “real fans” would buy their own tickets themselves (rather than sharing accounts or needing help) because uh, apparently everyone is made of money. This live stream is literally *for* people who don’t have disposable income right now, how the fuck are you going to shame FANS for being in the same position? Truly no thots empty heads. Louis, however, has loads of disposable income and thanked his 'wealth consulting agency' for “the best advice...in plain English” and "always [being] flexible to work around my hectic schedule". Hit us with that #sponcon (??) Louis (Music Artist, One Direction, London)! But anyways! We got some more unseens of Harry last year, this time from a fan who’s lunch he paid for because he saw her notice him, and she left him alone. That was, until they were informed that their lunch had been paid for, and they thanked him and asked for a picture, which he took!

I can’t believe I used to think that MM wanted to be like Angelina Jolie and travelling the world and writing op-eds about inequalities. As opposed to being on the 500th series of a generic TV talent show for about 2 minutes, supporting some guy who has never even heard of her.

I’m actually really surprised at how many people just do not seem to know her, or want to know her, even now. Remember when the papers used to speculate about every new girl Harry used to date? But when he met MM, she was such an unknown that they had to do the VF profile, and even then the editor said it didn’t sell well, and the UK press still weren’t completely convinced an engagement was coming because ‘royals don’t speak openly to the press’?

It’s crazy to have had such a massive wedding and so many photos of yourself out there, and STILL be having to 'build a profile’ for yourself. MM spent so little time as a royal that she couldn’t even remain in people’s minds for the fashion alone, despite all the $$$ couture she bought. Most images of her are pregnancy/post-preg and are very unflattering and not aspirational in terms of style. Unlike not-in-your-face brands like Catherine Walker that stick around because as it turns out that fitted coat-dresses are eternally flattering and desirable items.

Even the latest Trump comment was not really that much more than basically saying “not a fan, don’t know her”. I’m not US and have little respect for Trump but he has actually been comparatively pleasant to her compared to other women. Back when he did a tour of the UK he was asked if it was good to have an American princess, and if it helps the link between the US and the UK. Trump said, “I think it’s nice. I think it’s nice and I am sure she’ll do excellently. She’ll be very good. She’ll be very good. I hope she does.”

And all her supposed “friends”. Most people simply don’t comment on media reports connecting them to royals - even if it’s not true, you still get the association with royalty and people thinking that you’re cool and connected. But individuals like Jameela go to lengths to clarify that they don’t know her well.

I don’t know what the end game is here when the average person didn’t want to pick up a magazine that she was on the front cover of, people don’t tune in to TV shows that she’s featuring in, people look down on the brands she wears because the brand reputation is now associated with #sponcon/#merch/#ad, and the extremely argument-friendly POTUS doesn’t even care enough to expend any energy insulting her.

Maybe even in these celeb-friendly times, it’s not actually possible to buy all that much in the way of popularity?

If Trump really was going to insult her, his choice of words would have been far worse. I am not a Trump fan but even I know that it’s not an insult to say you aren't a fan of someone. Some people just walk around looking for excuses to be outraged at him, perfectly conditioned like Pavlov’s dogs. Secondly, celebrity culture has reached a point of over saturation and it’s getting more and more obvious that people are fed up. Celebrities seem to have caught to this, and are less keen to stick their necks out for people/topics that risky. It’s why even Sunshine Sachs can’t seem to buy her more celeb friends.

I don't really agree with this analysis anon. I'm not any more into 'the entire fanbase is teens' than I am 'the entire fanbase is children'. I'm deeply uncomfortable with it as maneuver that ends up being about suggesting fans as a whole are somehow more vulnerable than other people.

I also think pathologising aging is bad - whoever your audience.

There are three installments of the "Meghan's PR Timeline" today, which will see us finish out 2017: October 2017, November 2017, and December 2017.

One particularly interesting observation about this period of time is that from mid-October to mid-November, there are actually whole days without a single item or piece about Meghan. It's very strange because from about the end of April 2017 to the end of September 2017, we were being bombarded DAILY by stories about Meghan.

Is the missing coverage because those pages, stories, and articles were scrubbed in 2018/2019 when Meghan's PR was cleaning up her image?

Did Meghan finally get the ring in early October and no longer needed her PR to pressure Harry and force him to propose?

Or is it the quiet before the storm (i.e., the engagement announcement)? Meghan decided to drop coverage to get more bang when the engagement was announced?

10/1/2017: Toronto Invictus Games Closing Ceremony. Meghan, Doria, Jess, and Markus arrive early and are in a box. Meghan arrives first and is caught directing photographers where to go and what angles to use. Harry arrives later. Meghan leaks that Harry and Doria met at the closing ceremony and they get along fabulously.

Harry did a little video (in that cute cardigan and hat hair from his outfit the day before yesterday- a whole ass work day all around) saying thank you for his win at the Junos (Canadian Music Awards), where Fine Line got Best International Album, and he liked a post by Dylan Jones (journalist, GQ) congratulating Gary Kemp (Spandau Ballet, uncle to Roman Kemp) on a new album. Gary Kemp’s new single features Queen’s Roger Taylor- and a video by Charlie Lightening, who has made an upcoming documentary with him as well about the making of the album. HUH, just like someone else we know hmm?

A spa in Redditch announced “the world’s first Harry Styles themed spa day”, with a heavy emphasis on watermelons to make it Harry themed. For a mere £72 you get to smell a Harry scented “Breathe Me In” candle with his face on it (only the first 15 people get to keep one though), eat a lunch with no olives or beets (“Harry apparently hates those”) and enjoy some not really all that themed facials and stuff with a non-stop Harry soundtrack throughout. They miss the opportunity to point out that Harry was born in Redditch, but advertise a line of Harry scented products with his face on them coming soon; is that legal? Guess we’ll find out! And Harry’s convicted stalker, Pablo Tarazaga-Orero, was charged with violating the terms of his sentence last year for posting about One Direction, but that charge was dropped yesterday. (blah blah joke about ‘if posting about 1D is a crime’, except this guy actually scared Harry and is mentally ill and the whole thing isn’t funny at all so… no.)

Louis posted simply a picture of the logo on his vintage England jersey (no not the one he was wearing yesterday, a different one), on the face of it just his way of cheering on the national team as the European Championship games gear up to begin but as it turns out also the lead in to a sponcon post, and as Soccer Aid geared up for a big announcement about this year’s lineup, they liked and commented on a tweet about when Louis (and Niall) played in 2016, getting people’s hopes way up; yes please! But whether or not that football fantasy comes to pass, Louis has invited us to play Fantasy Football with him (user Louist28), posting a link and code for his Euro FF league (‘England to Win the Euros’). Go Louis, cultivating the ‘grown men who run outside to see him’ demographic AND getting that coin! Also producer team SuperHi commented on their post about being in the studio with him last week- “Louis was amazing to work with-- a true gent and talent. And his fans are awesome”, I mean tell us something we don’t already know.

Zayn's new song Vibez is out! And the Vibez video is here! It is indeed the video he filmed at the theater last month, though you barely see the place- but you can in shots where we see Zayn sitting in the audience of the production, watching himself perform and travel through various stage sets, indoor to cityscape to woods to sea. Much to think about! The sets are very cool, I love Z's visual imagination always, and, no shocker here, he is looking extremely good. He never doesn't but it's always a punch in the face all over again what with him parceling out glimpses of himself so rarely! And he's doing some lowkey promo-- he (well, someone) tweeted “Vibez out now! Nobody is Listening” which was really weird, but it was them announcing that NIL (VERY cool acronym) is out the 15th so I guess I'll have to get used to that phrase being thrown around, and he (himself) talked to fans on insta which was, of course, THE BEST. I'm so excited! said a fan. “Me too,” said Zayn; “might do some promo,” plus “all tears will be saved to power the next project,” and “fanks mate,” but also: “calm down.” Then sure enough he retweeted promo links off and on all day, WHOA THERE PAL SLOW DOWN! I think he's passed his whole 2020 tweet count just today! PLUS NIL merch is here and it's SO NICE, the album cover art looks GREAT on all the stuff- hoodies etc plus notebooks and pins (promo codes are also available see tags). AND the tracklist is up!! Look at all those songs we're gonna hear so soon, omg. There are two collab tracks-- one with Syd (Odd Future/ The Internet) and one ft UK hip hop artist Devlin (see below for a REAL GOOD Devlin TB moment*).

Break My Heart, a new song by JC Stewart, is also out now-- and you can not only hear Niall's influence as a writer on the track, you can hear his voice as a singer on the track! Just background vocals but very distinctive, and so's his writing- the chorus sounds just like a HBW track, am I right? Niall was on twitter in honor of the occasion (might do some promo!), commenting on a wedding post where they play Black and White about what a good song it was

I guess we're taking the day off from Holivia pap pics cause it's Fri (or cause they ran out) but soon it will be the weekend and they can shoot a new batch for the next week I guess! Or maybe it's pause time to make space for all these articles about how much Olivia's ex misses her and wants her back and how 'his friends' think her relationship with Harry 'is a PR thing' and isn't real (GOSH could it BE) but look out, people are also using the downtime to dig up all her past PR relationships and their similar looking trajectories (we already knew all about Harry's copy/ paste routine). Copy of a copy of a copy indeed. Anyway, iheartradio says they've now played Watermelon Sugar a BILLION times (which sounds like a lot unless you had the radio on even once in 2020 in which case you already knew this), and Fine Line is climbing to new highs on the UK album chart-- it might make number one next week? Getting that headline payoff!!

*some may remember Devlin from when Louis tweeted about his album, leading people to go check it out and discover the following lyrics: “So is it true did William father Kate's baby?/ I don’t really think so, if you ask me he don’t like ladies/ Could have been Harry, yeah, I bet it was Harry.”
