Spy X Family: Mission 2 vs Mission 91 (Spoilers) - Yor's relationship with city hall co-workers

Gotta love how Yor is growing both as a person and also in her social life.

I feel these two panels not only have an interesting contrast in how her relationship with her co-workers have developed; but also in her general demeanour. In Mission 2 she acted much more withdrawn, distant and stoic, barely reacting much at all to them. Meanwhile in the panel from Mission 91, Yor is much more openly emotive and interactive with the others.

I've also seen it pointed out that stepping in to defend Millie from the Lady Patriot Society doesn't seem like something early Yor would've done, since its an act which brings attention to herself and could jeopardise her cover. In Mission 91 however she just stepped in and willingly made herself the centre of attention by speaking to the Lady Patriots.

On a semi-side note, am looking forward to seeing more of how Yor's work life improves. Could be interesting if we see more done with Sharon's son going to Eden in the same year as Anya for that matter.

So the idea is simple! Crossover reincarnation au where ASL is reborn in Spy x Family. They’re each born separately and none of them are born with the same names as their previous lives, and with no way of finding each other, they each find their own thing to do in the world.

Sabo, too used to the dangers of being a spy, eventually finds a cause to devote himself to again, in preventing war from engulfing the country he was reborn in. Ace, drawn to fire as he was in his previous life, used arson as a means to rob rich people for sustenance and survival, and is eventually scouted and hired by Garden as a fire specialist and assassin. And Luffy, though born in perhaps the poorest condition, grows up happily and takes whatever part time jobs he wants to do.

The thing about Sabo is that, as much as he seems like a young man of good repute and high standing within society, everyone in WISE knows that he is a massive nuisance. Nobody knew in the beginning how a child less than half the age of most of their veteran agents could have the same skills and knowledge in their profession. Sabo was— and still is— hyper competent, and by the time WISE figured out just how much of a menace to society he was, it was too late.

Ace forgot for the first few years of his new life that he wasn’t made of fire, and consequently, received multiple accidental burns. This did not deter him, however, from growing up to be a very skilled arsonist, well-practiced in every which way to start a dumpster fire or house fire. As a teenage he would use this often to draw attention as he robbed rich people blind. When he was caught, he was given an ultimatum by Garden: join them and receive payment for starting fires and causing problems under contract, or face the government and authorities for his crimes. Begrudgingly, he joined Garden, but eventually comes to appreciate that he can make substantial money in his element.

Luffy is Luffy. No telepathy or experimentation, no fancy schools, no gimmicks or secret identities. But he has still lived an extremely colorful life in this world, full of fascinating and kind individuals who have helped him grow up healthy and relatively happy. He goes where he is free, and he takes whatever part time jobs he wants in order to make the minimum he needs to survive.

Ace and Sabo find each other first, in their late teens, and neither of them realize that the other remembers their previous life, but both refuse to separate. (Sabo thinks Ace doesn’t remember, because Ace didn’t recognize him. Ace never saw Sabo grow up past 10, however, so he doesn’t recognize older Sabo immediately. By the time he does realize who exactly Sabo is, Sabo has backtracked and pretends to know Ace from a dream, or from somewhere else.)

Sabo’s attachment to Ace, predictably, causes problems between Sabo and WISE, but by then, Sabo is indispensable to the organization, and they make an exception for Sabo to be able to remain with Ace, so long as Ace never finds out what Sabo’s actual job is. Ace, on the other hand, hides his job because he doesn’t want his brother, who he has just found and who does not know Ace well enough yet, to know that he makes a living from killing people.

And they find Luffy sometime afterwards, prior to the beginning of the Spy x Family canon. Luffy figures out, not long after moving in with his brothers, both of his brothers’ secret occupations and the fact that both of them remember their past memories. He thinks it is common knowledge, however, and so he never brings it up.

Anime only watchers and people who aren't caught up with the Manga, BEWARE... Cuz I'm about to discuss Spy X Family Mission 94... You have been warned...! 👌

[SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON]

This was an absolutely delightful little chapter!! AND I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT...!! 👌😆

Today's chapter did one of my most favorite genres in fiction in the MOST Spy × Family way possible...!! 👏😌 So let's talk about it, shall we? 👌😎

This chapter begins with Anya and Bond watching an episode of Bondman, where he is skiing away from the bad guys and Anya asks her papa Loid if they could swoosh too...!! 😆 Loid basically tells Anya no, but then she starts to get really upset, so...:

ANYA GOT WHAT SHE WANTED!! 👏😆 (Loid is such a softie for his girls...!🤭)

Then, the Forger family partake in some skiing shenanigans...!! 🤭

Poor Yor...!! 🤣 Plus, I also love seeing the WISE logo on Loid's sleeve and skis...!! 😖 It always makes me laugh whenever I find them on Twilight or on his stuff!!! 😆

After some more skiing (and even some sledding), a blizzard comes swooshing in...(Sidenote: Twilight and Yor look SUPER CUTE in the picture below!! 👇😆)

BUT NO ONE CAN LEAVE!! 😱

And when that happened, 2 thoughts went through my mind...: One, The Forgers were gonna run into the Desmonds at the ski lodge now that every member of the Desmonds have been introduced; or two, We were gonna partake in...

...A good old fashioned Murder Mystery...!!! 🕵

Now, I wasn't sure yet which of my thoughts were gonna come into fruition... But, the moment I saw all the people at the lodge and saw that there was an urban legend...:

...I KNEW that this was gonna be a Murder Mystery!! 👀 And I LOVE me a good MURDER MYSTERY...!!! 👏😆

But, you what I love more than a murder mystery...? 🤔

THESE TWO MOMENTS OF YOR FREAKING OUT FOR BEING IN THE SAME ROOM AS TWILIGHT!! 💗😍💗

My love for any TwiYor moments or crumbs will triumph over all!! 😤 (And plus, I'd probably freak out too if I had to share a room with Twilight...! 😅)

Moving on, as everyone gets comfortable, we get a glimpse at the killer and their first victim...:

Luckily, since Twilight is... Well, Twilight... He tends to the wounded man (who is still alive) and deduces that one of them must be the culprit (obviously)...!! Then, the people start to accuse Yor since she ran outside during the stabbing and THIS HAPPENED...:

KYAAAAAAAAAAA!! 😍

TWILIGHT PROTECTING YOR IS EVERYTHING TO ME!!! 💗😍💗

Though, we all know that Yor can protect herself, it always makes my melt when Twilight goes out of his way to defend his woman...!!! 💗🤗💗

Anyway, normally it would take a while before the culprit would be found out, but...:

...There is a child that can read minds and a dog that see into the future trapped in there with everyone as well, SOOO...:

AND THUS THE MYSTERY WAS SOLVED!! 👏🤣 AND ANYA HAD A BLAST...!! 😆

And that was Mission 94, AND OF COURSE I LOVED IT!! 😆 This was such a fun chapter and would have never thought that a murder mystery plot would ever happen in Spy × Family, but here we are...!! 😁

I swear, the moment I figured out that this was a murder mystery, I was like: "How the hell is this going work...?! 🤷" But, it did not disappoint!! 👏😄 This type of plot couldn't have gone in any other way in Spy × Family in my honest opinion, so I think that Endo did a great job with it!! 😁

Anyway, I had fun with this chapter and would've loved to talk about it a lot sooner... But hey, stuff happens...!! 🤷 So until the next Mission... Take care, be safe out there and be kind to one another...!! SEE YA!! 👋😄

Forger Family Fun - SPY x FAMILY

This was another underrated Twilight moment for me. He was so worried that he messed up and even thought about having an excuse for Yuri. Yor didn’t even say anything but he’s already apologizing for “ruining” his side of the arrangement. It’s just so precious!

「Family Portrait | Mission 2」

Turns out that this is a Yuri centric chapter, and it sounds like the guy might actually get less sleep than Loid. This was hinted at before, but at the time, I thought it might just be because of the mission he was on.

Yuri really told his captain that he "...took a nap three days ago in the break room," when asked about the last time he slept. I'm going to go ahead and assume that nap lasted less than 6 hours. I'm pretty sure the Eyes Only fan book said that Loid gets two hours of sleep a night on average.

It also seems that this chapter took place during some sort of federal holiday as Yor also had the day off initially, and so my fears about Ostania not having any holidays have been somewhat put to rest. The only thing giving me pause here is I'm not sure if this novel is considered canon. In theory, they could have animated it as part of season two, but obviously opted not to do that. That being said, I do hope that this book is canonical as there as there are some cute moments and interesting tidbits in it.

I think this chapter also did a good job of showing that Yuri likes Anya at least a little bit more than he realizes as he did start to take her hand without thinking about it partway through their outing together. Then again, Anya did have to threaten Yuri to get him to take her out while he was watching her for Yor, so it's safe to say he's got a long ways to go.

I found the part at Kid Street Workplace where he's pretending to be a police officer and gets way too into the fake interrogation to be kind of interesting as well. It was almost like he couldn't stop himself from going into full SSS mode, and in the end he questioned why he put so much effort into the fake interrogation. Ultimately, he decides that it's because the man he was interrogating reminded him of Loid. The fact that he didn't even take the time to listen to the whole briefing before starting the interrogation, and his willingness to kill the man accused of abusing his wife with his own hands, really puts his impulsive and ruthless bature on full display.

It also brings to mind something that Franky said during the war arc

I just think this could have some interesting implications for how things could go down if and when Yuri learns that Loid is Twilight.

At least this chapter ends on a high note with Yuri and Anya heading home to give Yor the accessories they made for her, and Yor noting that Yuri spending time with Anya seemed to bring out his inner child.

Rewatching Spy x Family and Loid "For the Mission" Forger is really reminding me of Inuyasha "For the Jewel Shards" Higurashi Dogboy that Inu was at the start of the series.
