AI is femenine
now that is one click bait of a title.
I suddenly remembered one the less known stories by isaac asimov, "femenine intuition", where he explores the concept of "femenine robots" and what the hell would that mean. it apparently means "robots that are intuitive". and what does he mean by that? well...
Do I have to tell you that quite aside from the Three Laws, there isn't a pathway in those brains that isn't carefully designed and fixed? We have robots planned for specific tasks, implanted with specific abihties." “And you propose — ” “That at every level below the Three Laws, the paths be made open-ended. It's not difficult."
so that is interesting, this is already making a difference between AI that is made bespoke, line by line with an intended specific purpose and AI that is open ended so that it can train and absorb information on its own. whats more interesting is the purpose for which they intend to use it
We’ve got an enormous quantity of details on every star in our 300-light-year neighborhood and a notion that almost every one has a planetary system. But which has a habitable planet? Which do we visit? — We don’t know.” One of the directors said, “How would this Jane-robot help us?” “It may well be that somewhere in the libraries of data we have on those stars, there are methods for estimating the pro- babilities of the presence of Earth- type habitable planets. All we need to do is understand the data properly, look at them in the ap- propriate creative manner, make the correct correlations. We haven't done it yet. Or if some astronomer has, he hasn't been smart enough to realize what he has. “A JN-type robot could make correlations far more rapidly and far more precisely than a man could. In a day, it would make and discard as many correlations as a man could in ten years. Furthermore, it would work in truly random fashion, whereas a man would have a strong bias based on preconception and on what is already believed."
the funny thing is that all this sounds weirdly similar to how modern neural models work. ingesting gigantic ammounts of data and finding the underlying patterns and correlations to give statistically likely answers
But it's only a matter of probability, isn't it? Suppose this robot said. The highest probability habitable-planet within so-and-so light-years is Squidgee- 1 7,' or whatever, and we go there and find that a probability is only a probability and that there are no habitable planets after all. Where does that leave us?"
it even talks about the problem of hallucinating answers due to it being a stochastic parrot!
and then the story goes on to say that this all makes the robot "femenine"
“Call the robot — call it 'intuitive'." “An intuitive robot," someone muttered. “A girl robot?" A smile made its way about the conference table. Madarian seized on that. “All right. A girl robot. Our robots are sexless, of course, and so will this one be, but we always act as though they're males. We give them male petnames and call them he and him. Now this one, if we consider the nature of the mathematical structuring of the brain which I have proposed, would fall into the JN-coordinate system. The first robot would be JN-1, and I've assumed that it would be called John-1. — I'm afraid that is the level of originality of the average roboticist. But why not call it Jane-1, damn it? If the public has to be let in on what we're doing, we're constructing a feminine robot with intuition."
so yeah, there it is, by mr isaac asimov himself ladies and gentlemen

Hello! I know you're just a skincare enthusiast and not an expert but I was wondering if you could answer a skincare question for me. I recently got a silicone scrubber to replace my loofah and it came with a mini sized one to use on my face. It feels ah-mazing, but how often should I be using it on my face? I feel like it's a super gentle exfoliation but I don't want to overdo it and the internet has a bunch of differing opinions on how frequently you should be using a facial brush. Any advice?
ha! you beat me to the disclaimer!
Okay so in general I’m not a real fan of physical exfoliation (vs chemical) because it can be rough on the face, and the silicone scrubbers you want to be sure to be cleaning/sanitizing RELIGIOUSLY to avoid bacteria buildup/transfer,  as well as not pulling, stretching, and dragging your skin about too much, but at most I’d say 1x week maybe twice if you have super oily skin. This is all more a gut feeling than anything else, though.
(There was a time MANY YEARS AGO when I used a clairsonic mia (THE MIA 1--it was a long time ago) pretty much every day (maybe twice a day???) and now I look at that with horror and pity for my poor face. You are totally not doing that at all, so you’re way ahead of my curve, anon, so yay for you!)
But if it were me, I’d go with a gentle chemical exfoliant and save the luxury of the face squidgee for special occasions. Salicylic acid is a nice gentle exfoliant. Paula’s choice 2% is pretty gentle (x) and about $15. Another gentle option is Lactic acid and the Ordinary has a 10% serum for $7 (x), so if the PC is $$$ for you, that’s a good one to try if you want to dip your toes in chemical exfoliation. If your skin isn’t super sensitive/reactive, you might consider the ordinary’s Glycolic acid 7% toner (x) $9, but a big 240 ml bottle--start 3 times a week, and use in the evening-- don’t use at same time as actives like retinoids or vitamin C--so if you use this, I’d do vit C in the morning.
PS--I say that but I am also a lying liar who lies and VERY OCCASIONALLY will use either the Cure Natural Aqua Gel (x) or Mizon apple peeling gel  (x) which are physical exfoliants--but that’s like when I have a specific issue, maybe once every other month.
So that’s my two cents, but I hope it’s useful to you!

Dragon Therapy?
Y’all, I’ve had, just, the worst day. I woke up this morning to frantic calls from a client asking me to evacuate her cats, which is how I found out everything in California is on fire yet again. We’re really close to the Getty Fire and the only thing keeping us safe is the highway and the current direction of the wind. I spent all day in traffic with stressed evacuating people, going to client’s houses and checking on/relocating their pets. At one point, it took an hour to go .5 miles. It was absolutely insane.
I am SO. Tired. And SO STRESSED.
So if you want, could you share your current dragon obsession, breeding project, etc? I am trying to turn my day around and could use the distraction.

Here is a page in my sketchbook with some of my samples that I have made in my embroidery and print session, you can see I have used the pin tuck technique in the fabric and sewn across them left and right with the free foot stitch to create a texture, this intended to look like one of the curtains within the windows of the block of flats in my area, I was Interested in the different colours I could see from how each flat had dressed their window, the different patterns and designs clearly shown me the diversity of people inside, the occupants all have a different story to tell and the windows shown personality and I like that about this sample, if I could develop this is would do the other designs I seen in the flats that I captured and seen in my secondary photos
You can also see my screen print I made with the black dye for the building colour and using a generic screen I used a squidgee to squeeze the dye though in my canvas to create a high rise building structure representing the architecture in my environment
Robert Clayton a freelance photographer also captured a similar image to my primary photo displayed here on the pages the resemblance of the photos both show the same elements of British culture in West Midlands with similar communities and architecture. The photo from Robert Clayton was part of a collection called “The Estate” which was based in Birmingham, Oldbury in 1991 stepping into the environments of the inhabitants that live there capturing the raw elements of that narrative of the “estate”, this relates to my work as the area that we my friends grew up on was called the Everdon estate and the resemblance between these two are uncanny and really shows the character of that community, in the life of those communities there are typical paths for youth to go down but my friends are a example of exceeding limitations and breaking boundaries by being themselves to the highest degree and their form of expression through music and creative styling embraces their uniqueness and individuality.
In one of my embroidery sessions i used a technique called reverse appliqué again focusing on the different colours I was seeing on the various windows, i combined 3 different pieces of fabric using the free embroidery machine, I then cut through the first layer of fabric to reveal the dark windows to portray the lights off in the flat & then cut through to the next layer of fabric using fabric scissors to reveal the colourful fabric that I dyed from my print session, intending to represent the lights on and the illuminated colour coming through, this also relates to my friends who use a music studio in a flat they would usually be up late recording their music and this could be the creativity beaming out of that window. If I could develop this or do this again I would have made the sample neater and used smaller windows to show variety & made a specific piece of fabric with different colours to show different moods of different flats to visually communicate the idea and narrative better.
