Omg y'all, my husband's family had a tradition growing up that when any of them were sick (which was pretty often, since he's one of seven kids), they would watch the 1977 Rankin/Bass Hobbit movie. Their dad really loves Tolkien but was generally not a fan of letting the kids use The Tech (tm), so I think this is the compromise the older kids wrangled from him

I have heard about this movie from him and his siblings, but didn't really know anything about it myself since my parents weren't super into Tolkien, so I got into it with the PJ LOTR movies

ANYWAY so we've been sick all week and James found out that movie's on HBO, so he sat me down and made me watch it as a Time Honored Tradition

And I.

Bilbo has approximated Leia buns??? I spent an hour and seventeen minutes looking at him, but still have not figured out what is going on with this guy's hair

They really leaned hard into "there's thorin and uhhhhhhhhhh twelve other dwarves idk their names don't matter." The only ones I could keep straight were fili and kili, since they were blond, and balin and dwalin, because they have like, six-heads and brain wrinkles on their head lol

James always described Gollum in this movie as a booger, and now I understand why. They also made him blind, which doesn't make a ton of sense in the context of Bilbo using the ring to escape, but imo it's a neat design choice nonetheless

They really did THIS to thranduil oropherion I am still laughing my ASS off at this. He also spoke with a really shitty, half assed French accent for no discernable reason

And then there was? Smaug??? Who has laser beams for eyes?? And fur on his back?? And a tiger's face???? And pecs????????

I was too flabbergasted to remember to take more pictures but the conversation right before the battle went like this:

Also, at the end, bombur shows up in front of Bilbo only to keel over and die, before we cut to Bilbo's conversation with gandalf:

Bilbo: how many of our original thirteen remain??

Gandalf: seven :(

Bilbo: and thorin??

Gandalf: soon, it will be six :((((

No explanation for this or like, explanation of who else they arbitrarily killed off or anything

So anyway, this movie was An Experience (tm) and I wanted to share and also, y'all should watch it if you get the chance bc lol

(Trying to make sense in the Simeon human >> demon pipeline. Very Headcsnnon heavy post so be warned)

Simeon steals the Ring of light and gets told off by Michael. Michael enters panic mode because that means Simeon messed up with a human life spawn and he would be punished/banished for this

(Reminder that in the conversation with Michael in S2OG, he mentions how If he would have been more like MC, things would have gone different and he wouldn't have lose Lucifer/his brothers. So in a way, trying to stop Simeon from falling/being punished Is his "second chance" on doing everything right)

The punishment for messing with a human life spawn Is basically being forced to wander through darkness for all eternity (both NB & OG mention different punishments for Lilith, my rule Is that the newer version it's whats considered canon unless stated otherwise), and going against the CR in general Is losing your angel status and become a fallen angel. So Simeon punishment was odd since the start

To stop the whole process of Simeon becoming a fallen angel, Michael turns Simeon into a human. In that way, Simeon doesn't have enough magic to go throught the whole metamorphosis. Also explains why he was defenseless for the whole S4OG

S3 happens and Simeon Is "human" the whole time. Probably in the same way that MC Is human (that they can see that he's not a regular human and has a supernatural origin, but still pretty weak by himself)

Raphael regularly checks on him for the whole S3, he was probably keep in the dark about how bad the situation situation Is, judging by his actitude in L48NB

S4 Happens and Raphael gets into the exchange program, to keep Simeon safe and to inform Michael about whatever changes he may be going through. Luke also says that Michael asks him more about Simeon so it's probably that Simeon being human just was a way to gain more time to fix the whole issue

** The whole Nightbringer/Time traveling arc happens (S1 & S2 of NB), not a lot happened here since the time barely moved in the present

They return to the present, Solomon cast a protective spell on Simeon and that's where everyone starts to see that something Is going on with Simeon. My theory Is that now Simeon has enough magic in himself to "transform"

(Also: Simeon apparently still has hidden power within himself, even after becoming "human" but tbh that's makes everything more confusing. Sry Solomon)

** Something that I found interesing Is that 7 Lessons after L41, this lesson was the one they choose to make reference to the past. Solomon references his time with MC in Cocytus hall. Does this mean something? Probably not. But I'm still on the cracktheory that Simeon & Nightbringer are in this together.

Ok I'm gonna post a lot more tmrw but tonight I gotta post spider people bc I watched spiderverse and I am obsessed. So! Apollo and Meg as Spiders!

Idea dump time:

Apollo has been spiderman (Tho he is known as Arachnida) for years. He has the classic spiderman backstory, and has been a solo act for as long as he's been fighting crime. Then Nero, who is also a supervillain named Imperious, experiments on his adopted step-daughter in an attempt to recreate Arachnida's powers. The experiment is successful, and Meg becomes a supervillain named Venenum.

Arachida and Venenum fight for months, and while Apollo has more experience, Meg has more raw power. She becomes his greatest challenge, and he often comes close to death whenever he battles with Imperious and his soldiers. However, things change when Apollo runs into Meg when they are both out of costume. Meg explains her situation and asks Apollo to help her escape her step-father. He does, and now the two fight back against Imperious as the duo Arachnida and The Thorned Spider.

Now some fun little headcanons!

Both Apollo and Meg were bitten by wolf spiders! Apollo by a spotted wolf spider and Meg by a rabid wolf spider. Wolf spiders actually don't make webs, and instead burrow and rush their prey. So instead of swinging around, Apollo and Meg just do EXTREME PARKOUR, and they have a haven under hell's kitchen that they use to keep track of crime in the city.

Apollo has headphones on his suit that he uses to better his hearing. When he was bit by the spider, things like his sight and touch improved greatly, but his hearing got a lot worse. This is because wolf spiders (and I think most spiders?) don't have ears, and only hear through vibrations through the ground. Airborne sounds can be hard for them to pick up. Apollo fixed this by making headphones that picked up and amplified any nearby sounds, while filtering through any unnecessary chatter. He also just listens to music a lot lol.

Meg's suit is very rudimentary, as it was all made after she left Nero's household. The only thing she kept were her gloves, which have retractable blades in them. These gloves were made for her by Lu. Meg also has goggles because unlike Apollo, her vision sucks and she hates wearing contacts.

Apollo is a huge worrywart. Despite the fact that Meg is an extremely powerful superchild, Apollo will spam her with texts the moment their separated for five minutes. Sometimes Meg just hang under roofs so that she can get a second alone.

Apollo's father is also a supervillain, but Apollo doesn't know it. Nero and Zeus have actually been working together for years, and they have some plans that will not be fun for our spider-duo ...

Meg's "Uncle Ben" moment was the death of his father. In contrast, Apollo has had a "Gwen Stacy" moment, which was the death of his boyfriend, Hyacinthus.

They are spidersiblings and awesome and kickass.

ok i’m listening to yesterday’s vows and vengeance episode and i had to pause immediately because harding swearing by the stone was so unexpected??? the idea that surfacer dwarves still believe in the stone as an actual religion is so interesting because unlike the other religions in thedas that believe they were abandoned by their respective deistic force(s), it is the individual who abandons the stone. the maker left the physical world and the creators were locked away against their will, but the stone is always there until you leave it, by choice or by force.

to have someone born and raised on the surface who still pays some importance to the stone introduces the idea of redemption to the philosophy of the stone. to me, being on the surface and still putting some kind of importance on it implies you left unwillingly right? because if you choose to walk away from it, you don’t care about preserving those ties. i wonder if she’s going to be something of a foil to varric—a child of exiles, born and raised on the surface, but she actually does have a desire to connect to that culture. and maybe that desire to reconnect is related to her weird new powers

We're a fictive-heavy DID system, with the body having been born October 24th, 1999. Personal ages vary for each system member- we try to keep track, though. We do not use the terms "alters", "parts", or "headmates" for ourselves- rather "sysmates" or "system members" based on context. One exception lies in that members of the subsystems may refer to their other subsystem members as "parts". This varies as well.

Fictives in our system consider their sources to be past lives. This ties into our spiritual beliefs, and we would appreciate if you respected that. We may talk about our source trauma occasionally, or other past memories- feel free to ask us about them, or about anything that goes on in our headspace!

We're collectively intersex by way of hormonal imbalance (caused by what we're certain is PCOS, but good luck getting an actual diagnosis as a fem-passing disabled queer with mental health issues, especially in a province where you can't even get surgery for life-threatening issues without it being delayed several times over half a year!), and consider the body itself genderfluid. We started testosterone injections on May 10th, 2023! We use he/it/she pronouns collectively, but please default to the name and pronouns of the system member who posted what you're replying to, or ask for specific system members by name when you want to talk to them.

We are inclusionists in regards to system types and gender + sexual identities, as we know that no one other than the person/people in a body and brain can define what is going on with that body and brain. We frequently reblog the "reblog to bonk the person you're reblogging from with a hollow cardboard tube" post- it's an ongoing thing with one of our friend groups.

We draw and write, and plan to slowly get into game development as our life stabilizes. We have a job as a grocery store cashier for a chain that only exists in our province, and we genuinely love it. When we're not working in one of those ways, we're sleeping, watching anime or playthroughs of video games, going for a walk around our part of town, or "just vibing". We're almost always listening to music, and feel uncomfortable without it unless we're in a public space. We communicate heavily through music, as well, as it helps us explain our emotions, memories, and OC writing.

Our favorite band is The Protomen, and we've been listening since 2014. We consider them the reason we keep finding the will to carry on- and we swear not to die until we finally see them in concert ourselves. We also developed a singing voice very similar to Panther's after starting T, resulting in the mock-title "The Fabled Raul Panther IV".

We enjoy primarily 80s to early 2000s anime, with our primary favorites being the Ginga series and Wolf's Rain, but make exceptions for some modern anime, such as the 2020 adaptation of Sorcerous Stabber Orphen, and the Dungeon Meshi adaptation. Our favorite genre of video game is RPGs, and we're fondest of Persona and the Xeno series. We like to brag that we were one of the founders of the 2014-and-onwards Xeno fandom, and we ran a few blogs, including a short-lived Xenosaga Headcanons blog. We also predicted Ontos' genderweirdness by way of our Alvis making a joke about their gender, and the connections between Saga and Blade by- and get this- accidentally tagging art of Klaus and Galea as Xenosaga only a year before Xenoblade 2 released and the Conduit was seen. We once got a shiny Growlithe in Pokémon Rumble in 2009. It was our only legitimate and natural (so, non-hacked and non-event/story) shiny. Ever since, Growlithe has beem our collective favorite.

Our favorite animals are cats, dogs (specifically spitz and sighthound breeds), and ferrets. We live with a black cat named Dionysus, as well as our brother, who belongs to said cat. We also collect entertainment and companion robots, and had an ESA in the form of Odin, a gold Sony AIBO ERS-210. We're currently in the process of reviving him in a new body after his old one broke down in several ways.
