Steve dies the night of his 24th birthday.
His friends had thrown him a surprise party at Nancy's apartment. Argyle had given him a 'birthday joint', the kids had all shouted surprise, and he'd had a minor breakdown in the bathroom about turning twenty-four. He'd had a good night, drunk too much, and on his way home he's hit by a taxi, killing him instantly.
Steve opens his eyes to see his reflection staring back. He's in Nancy's bathroom again. His face is dripping cold water from the water he's just splashed on it. His heart is racing, the vision of the taxi clear in his mind.
He's alive, though. He's here. He leaves the bathroom and finds Dustin there, again, impatiently waiting for his input on some argument about Star Wars.
He writes it off as a weird high. Who knows what Argyle had put in the joint?
Then he dies again. Not a taxi, this time. He'd avoided the taxi. No, this time, he drowns.
He comes to in Nancy's bathroom again.
And again. And again. And again.
At first, he thinks it must be the joint fucking with him. Some new strain of weed he hasn't tried before, something that doesn't sit well with him. The more he dies, the more he keeps finding himself in that bathroom, he starts thinking otherwise.
Truthfully, he thinks he's losing his mind. Especially when he keeps dying on the goddamn stairs.
In any other scenario, it would be funny, the amount of different ways he's discovered he can die. He takes the window out of the apartment instead of braving the stairs. Nancy, Jonathan, Dustin—none of them are experiencing what he is. None of them remember reliving the evening over and over. They look at him with concern, like they think he's having a mental breakdown, like he's crazy.
Steve's lived thirty different Thursdays when he reaches Friday. He's ecstatic. He managed not to die. The curse is finally, finally, broken.
He's meant to meet Dustin at the mall. He's in the elevator with a handful of other people when the lights flicker. He looks up, hearing a loud groaning noise, and then they're plummeting.
Chaos breaks out. There's four other people with him: two of them are screaming, clinging to one another, a third is sobbing hysterically, and the fourth...
The fourth doesn't react at all. She stares ahead, past the others, and she looks bored.
"Hey, didn't you get the news?" Steve asks. She glances at him, and he notes that she's got more freckles than he's ever seen on someone. "We're about to die."
"Doesn't matter," the woman says. She's twisting a silver ring around her middle finger. "I die all the time."
He stares at her, stunned. He opens his mouth—
and comes to in Nancy's bathroom. It's Thursday, September 27th, again.
But.
Maybe there's someone else out there going through what he's going through. A tall, freckled woman he's pretty sure he's never seen before and doesn't know anything about, except that she possibly dies in Starcourt Mall on a Friday.
He has to find her.

if the gaang were trapped in a time loop a la russian doll, what song would be playing when each of them “woke up” after a death
this question is super interesting, but also extremely challenging! for one, i can think of multiple songs that share the same compelling quality of harry nilsson’s “gotta get up” that also fits each character’s specific vibe; thus, whittling it down to just one song proves difficult. furthermore, one must consider the context in which each character would find themselves in a timeloop, and where they would be reviving to hear each specific piece of music. both nadia and alan (as well as the protagonist of groundhog day) hear their respective pieces of music signaling their regenerations diegetically, which means the gaang would all have to be placed in a context where that music would be actually playing (obviously, then, these would all be modern AUs). which is all to say, there’s a lot to consider when constructing a time loop narrative (not only in terms of the physics & continuity, but also how it serves the narrative, and its thematic significance to the character(s)—which is why this plot device works so well in russian doll) ...and im gonna try my hardest to ignore all of that and just go with my gut because im already overthinking this way too much!! (but also, if anyone wants me to expand on any one of these choices, i’d be glad to do so)
aang: for some reason johnny b. goode by chuck berry just feels right (though i was also deliberating between some doowop classics ngl—it’s the vibes, i can’t even explain it).
katara: i ultimately settled on selling candy by ohmme because i like how it feels dynamic and a bit discordant from the get-go, which fits for a character as active and spontaneous as katara.
sokka: bunsen burner (yes, from the ex machina soundtrack) feels fitting for him, especially because I think out of everyone he’d be most existentially terrified by the prospect of a timeloop, and the piece has a very eery quality to it. but i also enjoy the implications of this piece being diegetic, because it means that this is the kind of music he listens to for fun.
toph: i think she deserves the honor of being bestowed told you id be with the guys by cherry glazerr, which matches her cool, raucous intensity nicely imo.
suki: getting real gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight) by ABBA vibes for her (because she’s just that cool).
zuko: I simply must go with washing machine heart by mitski because it is such a fundamentally zuko song, and if anyone deserves to listen to it in an infinitely regenerating cycle of deaths, it’s him.
ty lee: cruel by st vincent has a certain quality to it that i’ve been obsessed with since i first heard it, and i think it fits with ty lee’s inscrutable facade as well as her inner desperation.
azula: at last by etta james, while beautiful and distinctly classy, could definitely sound horrifying, even taunting, in certain situations, which I think works well for whatever hellish timeloop azula would find herself trapped in!
mai: i think gymnopedie (no. 1) by erik satie would work well for mai because it’s such an iconic piece of music, simultaneously gentle and heartrendingly evocative, even nostalgic—definitely the kind of piece that would fuck with your mind if you “woke up” hearing it every time you died.

A Yuri on Ice Miraculous Ladybug AU
Yuuri Katsuki
The Katsuki’s moved to St. Petersburg when Yuuri was three. They started an authentic Japanese style hot springs hotel and have actually done quite well. Well enough to send Yuuri to Madame Lilia’s with a partial scholarship. He has grown up being a part of two worlds, with both his Japanese heritage and his Russian upbringing influencing him. Yuuri is a sixteen year old student at Madame Baranovskaya’s Ballet Institute. He is in Madame’s advanced class but doesn’t feel like he deserves to be there (but he actually really does). He works hard to keep up with the rest of the class even while battling his anxiety. He absolutely loves to dance though and dances quite beautifully when alone. He is shy by nature and doesn’t have a lot of friends. And the worst part of everything is that he is in the same class as his crush and idol, Victor Nikiforov. But Yuuri has an alternate identity. He is also the superhero called Ladybug. The ladybug miraculous is inhabited by a cute little kwamis named Minami. He uses his miraculous to save those in trouble and to defeat people who have been corrupted by an evil akuna. While he’s ladybug, Yuuri transforms into a confident and brave (and sexy) crime fighter. While he’s ladybug, he slicks back his hair and doesn’t need his glasses.
Victor Nikiforov
Victor is the son of Andrei Nikiforov, a fashion designer and secretly Hawk Moth, the supervillain and holder of the butterfly miraculous. Victor’s mother is dead and his relationship with his father is often contentious and on-the-rocks. Victor is seventeen, one of the top dancers in Madame Baranovskaya’s Ballet Institute, and a model on the side. Victor is confident and flirty and gorgeous all of the time. He’s popular in school and on social media. But although he is surrounded by people, he is prodigiously lonely. People are always either intimidated by his perfection, rivals for his top spot, or way too obsessed with him. Victor also has an alternate identity. He is Black Cat, the holder of the cat miraculous. The cat miraculous is inhabited by a temperamental kwamis called Yuri. Victor uses his powers to fight alongside Ladybug on their mission to fight evil in St. Petersburg. While he’s Black Cat, he feels like he can be more like himself and not the perfect doll that everyone expects him to be when he’s just Victor. Victor is literally in love with Ladybug and longs to know every part of him.
Phichit Chulanont
He is 16 and Yuuri’s best friend and is a social media icon. He is also a wonderful photographer and his favorite subject is both Yuuri and Ladybug, who he knows is the same person. Yuuri is a bad liar when it comes to his best friend. Phichit is also Crimson Vixen, the holder of the fox miraculous which is inhabited by the sweet kwamis, Guang-Hong.
Christophe Giacometti
He is seventeen and Victor’s best friend and also a model. He is very comfortable in his sexuality and always has a boyfriend, his current one a first year university student named Masami. He is also Queen Bee, the holder of the bee miraculous, who is inhabited by argumentative twin kwamis, Sara and Michele.
JJ Leroy
He is sixteen, the son of the mayor, and sees himself as Victor’s rival. But he is almost as lonely as Victor is and all he really wants is to have some real friends, but his personality is often abrasive. He is also Green Shield, the holder of the turtle miraculous, inhabited by the stoic kwamis, Otabek.

Words: 1383
Pairing: some very slight Thomas Jefferson x Reader
World: Modern/College AU
Warning: cursing, mentions of furry porn, seductive turtle, Theatre Kid! Alexander, vague to no plotline: just actual stupidity w some romance if you squint
Prompt: Inspired by real chats and true events. One of my greatest friends seriously makes me think of a modern day Alexander Hamilton... Also, he’s a gold mine of hilarious fuck ups and I’m glad I’m there to witness it.
A/N: sweats I’M WORKING ON THE ORGY FIC, ASSUMPTIONS PT2 aND UNDER ARREST I SWEAR I JUST NEEDED TO GET THIS OUT OF MY SYSTEM and also to let u know i’m still alive LMAO
Enjoy~
MacNCheezy: Hey, doll
You: Yes, T?
MacNCheezy: You wanna make $10?
You: I’m not selling drugs for you, Thomas.
MacNCheezy is typing…
Pulling your [h/l] [h/c] hair into a low ponytail, you laughed as the chat window informed you that Thomas was writing and rewriting his response. It was amusing to see him flustered, even if you couldn’t actually see him. The thought of his indignant huffing and puffing was enough to brighten the already shitty day you’ve just had.
Thomas stared into his phone with disbelief. Here he was, genuinely trying to help a friend out (he’ll end up benefiting from this anyway, but, shh) and you were being impudent! The nerve of some people, honestly.
You: Oh, you would know a lot about the drug market, wouldn’t you, sweetheart?
He considers on sending the message then and there, but knew you would jump at the opportunity to Fight™ so he quickly types in his initial intentions.
But your connection to sketchy trades is not why I’m here. I have a commission for you.
ItsKittenBitch: Oh? Yknow I’d rather fuck a cactus than get into bed w you, baby boo.❤️
ItsKittenBitch: Besides, $10 is cheap, even for a corner street hooker.
ItsKittenBitch: Up your game, Teej, and I’ll maybe consider holding ur hand. 😘
The mocaccino incarnate drags his hand over his face in irritation. Why was he asking you again? Oh, right, you were actually more tolerable than the squad you liked to hang around. And also Jemmy was still too sick to help him out.
You: Will you be serious for once, [F/Name]? I’m in a tight spot.
You rolled your eyes as your fluffy haired friend described the situation to you. He lamented over how he had to take care of James while he was swamped with papers for his major and his part-time gig at a local online publication.
You: So you’re basically asking me to be a ghostwriter for a ghostwriter? 👀 👀
MacNCheezy: Yes, [F/Name], that’s exactly what I’m asking you to do.
You: What do I get out of it?
MacNCheezy is typing...
You: I’m kidding, Thomas. Don’t get your hair curlers in a notch.
You: I know I get $10 for 500 words. I’ll do it.
You:  But I’m also expecting ice cream and mac and cheese for this.
MacNCheezy: If you wanted a date that badly, you should’ve just asked, sugar. 😏
You: e w, can you not with the emojis, old man? 😩 You trying to be cool is just... sad. 😔
MacNCheezy: Just give the article to me in 3 or so hours, or you’re not getting ice cream.
MacNCheezy: I hear the parlor down the street is having two-scoop Tuesday and it would be a terrible shame for us to miss it.
You: I can get ice cream on my own, ya kno
MacNCheezy: I know for a fact you like being treated to free ice cream because you’re broke, [F/Name].
You: di s gu st i ng. You exploit my weakness for free food.
MacNCheezy: See you in 3 or so hours, sweetheart. 😀 😃 😄 😁 😆 😅 😂 ☺️ 😊 😇 🙂 🙃 😉 😌 😍 😘 😗 😙 😚 😋 😜 😝 😛🤑 🤗  😎 🤡 🤠 😏
You: s T O p 😫😤
It’s been two hours since you’ve been click-clacking away on your laptop, and after agreeing with yourself that you’ve written a decent first draft, you decided to take a break. Drawing one knee up to your chest, you pulled up your web browser and logged onto your Facebook.
Alenhamner Cameltoe: yo [N/Name]!
You: sup non stop kids bop
Alenhamner Cameltoe: I just thought of something
You: wooooah there slow down don’t hurt urself Alex
Alenhamner Cameltoe: Blatantly ignoring that comment fueled by self-hate
I realized why they changed the plot of Anastasia for the stage play.
You: Uh... they did?
Alenhamner Cameltoe: They did.
Rasputin isn't the villain. It's Ramin Karimloo as a violent Bolchevik.
You: huh. Why’d they do that?
Alenhamner Cameltoe: Because...
In the animation, and this was okay for the 90s, right?
Rasputin hates the Tzar over a power struggle so he casts some magic to make the people unhappy and revolt so they kill the Romanovs.
Basically the entire Russian Revolution is because a wizard got mad.
Not because of oppression. Not because of Imperialism..
But because a wizard got mad.
You stared at the screen in slight amusement. Looks like Alex was in his rant days. (You also suspected he was hopped up on several cups of coffee, but you’d let John worry about that.) You shook your head and clicked back to your word document to begin proofreading your piece. You’ll just let him continue to flood your inbox and read over it when he’s done.
After a few minutes of complete silence sans the clacking of your keyboard, you finally realized Alexander had finished telling his story. You read over your piece to make sure it was to your satisfaction before maneuvering back to Facebook.
Alenhamner Cameltoe: So it paints the Romanovs as the heroic victims of this story.
Nowhere does it mention why they were killed and what atrocities were comitted by the aristocracy on the Russian working class.
The plot actually won't hold up today.
Today's audiences wouldn't actually approve of a story like that.
... also you get awesome historical reference lyrics like this.
LINK
The original animation, if released today would be criticized for historical revisionism.
The link opened to another site. You didn’t bother checking the url because it was probably a lyric site or youtube, so you casually scrolled through your newsfeed while it loaded.
A couple of cat videos and a bunch of overused memes later, you found yourself switching to the fully loaded tab.
Boy, you wish you hadn’t because what the fuck.
On your screen sat an anthropomorphic t u r t l e in a very suggestive pose giving you very real, very unnerving bedroom eyes. Chills ran up and down your spine as you checked the url, horrified at learning it was a fucking furry site.
What the fuck, Alexander.
Hastily, you clicked out of that website before going back to your chatbox. You rechecked the site he gave you, wondering if you somehow misclicked. But no, there the link was, bright as day. To a fucking porn site for furries.
You: WhaT thE fU c K, Ha  mi lt o n
Alenhamner Cameltoe: I KNOW RIGHT?!
The play might be even better than the animation!
Wait, what am I talking about? Of course the play is already better by comparison because it plays to a more historically accurate context.
You stared at the screen in confusion. Wait, so... he wasn’t pranking you...? Then that meant...
You: yo if yall wanna be furries das fine w me
Alenhamner Cameltoe: Huh?
You: but keep your porn away from me
Alenhamner Cameltoe: ???
!!!!!!!!!
WAIT NO
THAT’S FURRY PORN
REAL LINK
THIS IS ANASTASIA
You: yo I won’t judge ur weird sexual fetishes, boi. Just make sure it’s safe, sane, and consensual.
Alenhamner Cameltoe: NO!!!
NO THAT’S NOT MINE!
THAT’S A PRANK I PLAYED ON JOHN
GOD DAMN IT I RUINED MY HISTORICAL REVISIONISM RANT
You: L M A O
Greatest fails
Alenhamner Cameltoe: I was trying to gross him out for leaving his goddamned turtles out of the cage again.
You: congrats. you only played yourself. 😂
Anyway I gotta go furry boi, Thomas owes me ice cream and mac and cheez
Alenhamner Cameltoe: I’M NOT A FURRY
THAT WAS FOR JOHN!
FOR JO H N !
Cackling madly, you logged off of Facebook. You pulled up your email account and forwarded your finished article to Thomas. Eh, you didn’t bother to proofread it a last time because you knew Thomas would be anal enough to go through it and edit it himself.
ItsKittenBitch: It is I, your savior, telling you that I have sent the feature to your email and demand compensation.
ItsKittenBitch: Now get off your ass and get ready for our date before I change my mind, old man. JemBuns will understand.
Thomas’ triumphant smirk melted into a fond smile as he pocketed his phone, handing James a fresh box of kleenex before getting ready.

Staying Pagan During The “Holiday Season”
Winter Solstice has been celebrated in cultures the world over for thousands of years. This start of the solar year is a celebration of Light and the rebirth of the Sun.
The ancient Roman festival of Saturnalia is perhaps the most closely linked with the modern celebration of Christmas. This festival happened around the time of the winter solstice and celebrated the end of the planting season. There were games and feasts and gift-giving for several days, and social order was inverted—slaves did not work and were briefly treated as equals.
Even Antarctica gets its share of solstice celebration, thanks to the researchers staying there over the long, dangerously cold season. While we in the Northern Hemisphere are enjoying the most daylight hours, in the Southern Hemisphere they are celebrating Midwinter. Festivities include special meals, films, and sometimes even handmade gifts.
Although winter is the season of dormancy, darkness and cold, the December Solstice marks the “turning of the Sun” and the days slowly get longer. Celebrations of the lighter days to come and nature’s continuing cycle have been common throughout cultures and history with feasts, festivals and holidays around the December Solstice.
In modern times Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas Day, which falls on December 25.
However, it’s believed that this date was chosen to offset pagan celebrations of Saturnalia and Natalis Invicti. Some believe that celebrating the birth of the “true light of the world” was set in synchronization with the December solstice because from that point onwards, the days began to have more daylight in the Northern Hemisphere.
Yule is also known as Alban Arthan and was one of the “Lesser Sabbats” of the Wiccan year in a time when ancient believers celebrated the rebirth of the Sun God and days with more light. This took place annually around the time of the December solstice and lasted for 12 days. The Lesser Sabbats fall on the solstices and equinoxes.
The Feast of Juul was a pre-Christian festival observed in Scandinavia at the time of the December solstice. Fires were lit to symbolize the heat, light and life-giving properties of the returning sun. A Yule or Juul log was brought in and burned on the hearth in honor of the Scandinavian god Thor.
A piece of the log was kept as both a token of good luck and as kindling for the following year’s log. In England, Germany, France and other European countries, the Yule log was burned until nothing but ash remained. The ashes were then collected and either strewn on the fields as fertilizer every night until Twelfth Night or kept as a charm and or as medicine.
French peasants believed that if the ashes were kept under the bed, they would protect the house against thunder and lightning. The present-day custom of lighting a Yule log at Christmas is believed to have originated in the bonfires associated with the feast of Juul.
Saturnalia in Ancient Rome
In Ancient Rome the Winter Solstice festival Saturnalia began on December 17 and lasted for seven days.
Saturday: Day of Saturn
Saturnalian banquets were held from as far back as around 217 BCE. The festival was held to honor Saturn, the father of the gods and was characterized by the suspension of discipline and reversal of the usual order. Grudges and quarrels were forgotten while businesses, courts and schools were closed. Wars were interrupted or postponed and slaves were served by their masters. Masquerades often occurred during this time.
It was traditional to offer gifts of imitation fruit (a symbol of fertility), dolls (symbolic of the custom of human sacrifice), and candles (reminiscent of the bonfires traditionally associated with pagan solstice celebrations). A mock king was chosen, usually from a group of slaves or criminals, and although he was permitted to behave in an unrestrained manner for seven days of the festival, he was usually killed at the end. The Saturnalia eventually degenerated into a week-long spree of debauchery and crime – giving rise to the modern use of the tern saturnalia, meaning a period of unrestrained license and revelry.
Most of the customs, lore, symbols, and rituals associated with “Christmas” actually are linked to Winter Solstice celebrations of ancient Pagan cultures. While Christian mythology is interwoven with contemporary observances of this holiday time, its Pagan nature is still strong and apparent. Pagans today can readily re-Paganize Christmastime and the secular New Year by giving a Pagan spiritual focus to existing holiday customs and by creating new traditions that draw on ancient ways. Here are some ways to do this:
How To Celebrate As A Pagan
Celebrate Yule with a series of rituals, feasts, and other activities. In most ancient cultures, the celebration lasted more than a day.
Have Winter Solstice Eve and Day be the central focus for your household, and conceptualize other holiday festivities, including New Year’s office parties and Christmas visits with Christian relatives, as part of your Solstice celebration. By adopting this perspective, Pagan parents can help their children develop an understanding of the multicultural and interfaith aspects of this holiday time and view “Christmas” as just another form of Solstice. Have gift exchanges and feasts over the course of several days and nights as was done of old. Party hearty on New Year’s Eve not just to welcome in the new calendar year, but also to welcome the new solar year. Adorn the home with sacred herbs and colors.
Decorate your home in Druidic holiday colors red, green, and white. Place holly, ivy, evergreen boughs, and pine cones around your home, especially in areas where socializing takes place. Hang a sprig of mistletoe above a major threshold and leave it there until next Yule as a charm for good luck throughout the year. Have family/household members join together to make or purchase an evergreen wreath. Include holiday herbs in it and then place it on your front door to symbolize the continuity of life and the wheel of the year. If you choose to have a living or a harvested evergreen tree as part of your holiday decorations, call it a Solstice tree and decorate it with Pagan symbols.
Convey love to family, friends, and associates. At the heart of Saturnalia was the custom of family and friends feasting together and exchanging presents. Continue this custom by visiting, entertaining, giving gifts, and sending greetings by mail and/or phone. Consider those who are and/or have been important in your life and share appreciation. Reclaim Santa Claus as a Pagan Godform.
Santa Claus?
Today’s Santa is a folk figure with multicultural roots. He embodies characteristics of Saturn (Roman agricultural god), Cronos (Greek god, also known as Father Time), the Holly King (Celtic god of the dying year), Father Ice/Grandfather Frost (Russian winter god), Thor (Norse sky god who rides the sky in a chariot drawn by goats), Odin/Wotan (Scandinavian/Teutonic All-Father who rides the sky on an eight-legged horse), Frey (Norse fertility god), and the Tomte (a Norse Land Spirit known for giving gifts to children at this time of year). Santa’s reindeer can be viewed as forms of Herne, the Celtic Horned God. Decorate your home with Santa images that reflect His Pagan heritage. Honor the Goddess as Great Mother. Place Pagan Mother Goddess images around your home. You may also want to include one with a Sun child, such as Isis with Horus. Pagan Goddess forms traditionally linked with this time of year include Tonantzin (Native Mexican corn mother), Holda (Teutonic earth goddess of good fortune), Bona Dea (Roman women’s goddess of abundance and prophecy), Ops (Roman goddess of plenty), Au Set/Isis (Egyptian/multicultural All Goddess whose worship continued in Christian times under the name Mary), Lucina/St. Lucy (Roman/Swedish goddess/saint of light), and Befana (Italian Witch who gives gifts to children at this season).
Honor the new solar year with light. Do a Solstice Eve ritual in which you meditate in darkness and then welcome the birth of the sun by lighting candles and singing chants and Pagan carols. If you have a indoor fireplace or an outdoor fire circle, burn an oak log as a Yule log and save a bit to start next year’s fire.
Decorate the inside and/or outside of your home with electric colored lights. Because of the popularity of five-pointed stars as holiday symbols, this is a good time to display a pentagram of blue or white lights.
Contribute to the manifestation of more wellness on Planet Earth. Donate food and clothing to poor in your area. Volunteer time at a social service agency. Put up bird feeders and keep them filled throughout the winter to supplement the diets of wild birds.
Donate funds and items to non-profit groups, such as Pagan/Wiccan churches and environmental organizations. Meditate on world peace. Work magic for a healthier planet.
Make a pledge to do some form of good works in the new solar year.

I do not like that Adele and the rest of those cry babies.  I want to listen to girls that fuck shit up.  Oh boo hoo, shut up, get angry, turn that hurt into art, scream, do whatever you want, just don’t be Tori Amos.
You know how it is, you are listening to a podcast about female punk rock singers and it gets you to thinking about what sort of lists there are of singers out there on the intertubes.  You hit the google running and land on this gem:  a FREE 325 track female-fronted punk rock international anthology.  I have not even begun to make a dent in this list, they are all waiting patiently for my next thirteen or so trips to the gym.  Actually knowing those ladies, probably not too patently.
A Reference Of Female-Fronted Punk Rock: 1977-89
A Reference Of Female-Fronted Punk Rock: 1977-89
As the title indicates, this is a homemade 12 x CD-R (!) compilation of punk bands fronted by female vocalists from 1977 to 1989.
More like a giant mixtape than a compilation, as only 36 copies were made. You may notice that some of the bands didn’t have a steady female vocalist (The Lewd, etc.) but he still included songs that were sung by another member of the band. This is as international as it gets, with stuff ranging from world famous Blondie or Crass to the most obscure Eastern European cassette compilation veterans.
