what does the vampirism in sinners represent? there’s a lot to talk about with the movie but one thing that I found pretty odd (SPOILERS FOLLOW) was how sympathetically the irish vampire guy was portrayed compared to say, the villainous humans in the story. the film doesn’t really say why the state of being a vampire is “bad” outside of like, i guess your soul being stuck on earth.

i guess there’s the question of free will. do the Black characters affected by vampirism still have free will, or are they being affected by the Irish guy’s influence? it seems like Stack still had free will, even when the irish guy was still alive. does that mean everybody had free will? was being a vampire just that awesome, that the second you get turned you say “wow, I don’t even know what I was complaining about, this is great.” because if so, then the worst thing the irish guy does is like. selfishly wanting to speak to his ancestors. the kkk people are way worse.

then at the very very end, when we finally see Stack, it seems like he’s got it all figured out. being a vampire seems like it worked out super well for him. so what is vampirism, in the text of the movie? is it like selling your soul for money? i mean maybe. the irish dude did have gold. are they saying that being a vampire is sort of like “feeding” on the system? as in, you do sort of get to escape the system, but constantly at someone else’s expense. like vampirism is a metaphor for capitalist success maybe? I’m probably overthinking it. But if you read all this and have any ideas, feel free to let me know in the replies

Well. My cousin is one of the world’s foremost Irish folk musicians #don’t worry I’m not rich it’s not as prestigious as it sounds #but I really appreciated how seriously the movie took Irish folk music as well. it could have easily felt like a joke and it didn’t at all #too many people left during the credits in my theater #they missed the damn ending #um. I really love some of those old blues records #bukka white and all that #stack was right though #a lot of records from that era sound pretty bad #there is a very well-produced live album featuring muddy waters bo diddly and lil Walter called ‘super blues’#it came out in the late 60s #and it is an electric album for sure. but it’s hard to put the blues on a record correctly and I think they did a damn fine job

♪ Worldwide - Big Time Rush

I'm gonna be honest- these episodes kind of fell apart while I was making this. The more I re-wrote the story for it's second draft the less this version made sense and the less interested I was to work on it. I have not much else to say except sorry this part is kinda iffy and sorry it took so long. I promise you I'll make up for this in the next episode I PROMISE

Notes on both episodes under the cut!

Sweden Sour

* (I think it’d be really funny if Cody just doesn’t talk at all this episode. Not a word. Just nods and head shakes and depressed faces.)

* Cody’s incredibly depressed after Noah’s elimination. Sierra’s over the moon, though. She sees Cody depressed and gives him a tight side hug, petting his head. She tries consoling him with “I know you’re sad, but it’s ok! At least I’m still here~.” Cody starts sobbing, head in hands. Heather is sick of this already.

* The teams get their “ibuilda” pieces and the Amazons argue on what it’s supposed to be. Cody stares at the pieces for a few seconds before the light briefly re enters his eyes. He starts building. Courtney tells him to stop but Heather tells her he’s obviously got it, so let him work. They start helping him build… something.

* Once the Amazons are done, Heather, Sierra and Courtney take a step back to see what they’ve built. It’s a giant wooden Noah head. Their faces drop. Heather is filled with murderous rage.

* We built Noah’s face (We’re gonna take first place) Cause we built Noah’s faaaace

* Tyler’s jumper would be white.

* Cody doesn’t sing in this number. Chris notices and stares at him threateningly. He reluctantly hums the chorus and Chris takes what he can get.

* (Alejandro takes off his shirt to pull the boat like a freak. Duncan is unfazed and Tyler will deny it if you ask him if he blushed.)

* Sierra hits Noah’s Head hard enough it falls over on its side and suggests sawing off the side to ride in him like a boat. Heather and Courtney agree to this. Cody has no comment.

* Duncan and Alejandro don't bother bending over backwards to please Tyler. Duncan makes himself captain and no one argues.

* When the Amazons go to pick a captain, Courtney grabs the hat and declares herself captain without input. Heather tries to argue but Courtney argues back- Cody is in no condition, no one trusts Sierra and Heather took control the last challenge so this time she’s in charge. Heather reluctantly backs down.

* Amazons catch up to team Chris in the water. Alejandro sees them approach and makes note of Cody’s face, making fun of him for being so upset about “the Noah thing”. Cody furrows his eyebrows and points furiously at Chris’s boat. Courtney agrees that yes, they should shoot their boat.

* It doesn’t matter who wins the challenge since it’s a non elimination round, but I want to say the Amazons persevere. The massage helps Cody enough that he’s not stone faced next episode at least.

Aftermath III (Aftermath Aftermayhem)

* Gwen, Owen and Noah are introduced together. Gwen walks out first and Owen, hugging Noah to the point of lifting him off the ground, walks behind her.

* Geoff asks what all that’s about and Gwen responds that Owen refused to let him go until Noah “understood just how sorry he was”. Noah insists he forgives him, but Owen still won’t let him go.

* The Owen square is replaced by the Tyler square. The prompt is survive. (The hosts throw a bunch of debris at the contestant for thirty seconds and if they dodge everything they move on.)

* (For brevity’s sake, assume all of the contestants that participated in the board game in the original episode participated here [with the exception of Tyler, who is replaced with Owen]. They all get eliminated the same way as well, Noah getting got by aliens, Owen falling down the booby trap square and Beth making it to the final question.)

* When Beth gets stumped on the last question (What was Duncan's band called) Noah yells at her, frustrated: “Oh my- It’s Der Schnitzel Kickers, Beth!!” Confetti and balloons fall from the ceiling.

* (He knows this because Cody had mentioned it in a conversation after the London challenge.)

* Noah initially complains about winning the game, but Owen reminds him that he gets to see Cody again and he shuts up immediately.

* “Noah wins!” “Wasn’t he disquali-” “NOAH WINS!! Let’s wrap it up. We’re done here.”

if you don't mind the asking, how much of Scripture dontou have memorized that it takes up a significant portion of a drive?

I usually don't spend more than an hour or so on it spread out over a half-day drive, but I have quite a lot memorized—closing on 50 Psalms including Psalm 119; Song of Songs; Hebrews; half of 2 Corinthians, working on the other half; scattered other chapters of Paul/Isaiah/other prophets. I've been consistently memorizing/reviewing as part of my daily prayer practice for almost 7 years now, it adds up!

#the most important shift for me was from reviewing as though someone were going to test me #to reviewing as a way to spend time with God in the Word #many of these i couldn't recite word perfect first try #but i keep the index card on top of my stack for a couple days and go through the chapter in the morning and over the day #and it's incredibly helpful for my spiritual life and for having the right thing to speak to someone who needs to hear it #a drive is nice to go through like all of song of songs or psalm 119 which i review in little bits normally

ancient greek tragedies may have had initial runs of just the one performance but being part of the dionysia, an annually repeated festival, means they were subject to the ritual time loop even if each play was only enacted once

Wally was pretty cute, Khare would give him that. He'd caused quite the stir during his first visit when he ordered all the eggs and bacon, and by that, he really did mean all the eggs and bacon. He ate enough to feed a small army and effectively broke the breakfast menu that day, a record that had not been broken before (and after) he walked through the diner doors that day. They hadn't interacted much beyond Wally stopping by for breakfast but Khare found his visits entertaining enough. He was funny, kind-hearted and a real sweetheart even going as far as taking all the dirty dishes back to the kitchens so she didn't have to carry them. She'd insisted it was her job, but before she could blink an eye, the plates were all gone and by the time she got to the kitchen to see where they'd actually gone, they were all sparkling clean, standing up in their racks ready to be reused again. It still had her scratching her head, just how Wally gotten the plates to the kitchen out back so fast and washed them, disappearing only to leave money for his bill with tip included. She'd really love to get to know him more the next time he showed up at Pauli's, if he showed up again.

I did a public speaking thing today about rent control and I didn’t cry! Someone said they liked my speech because I mentioned how raises weren’t at inflation if you even get one so I felt better!

it sure has been quite a week

man. my lyney just dropped 70k on his skill. i think that's the highest skill pop i've ever had on record

NUANCE - it was built with one, but the floor it was on was abandoned by the time I was there, along with the floor that was the bomb shelter. I only know it existed because of the buttons on the elevator still existing. (The swim team met at the neighboring high school's pool when I was part of it. All of the other city high schools had functioning pools.) These were sub-basements below the floor that maintenance used.

#so! it had a pool when it was built! but the floor of the building it's in is abandoned now #a sub-basement that's below the one that maintenance uses #and accessible only via elevator #which students aren't allowed to use without express permission (e.g. wheelchair user)#also abandoned is the floor that is the bomb shelter which iirc goes out under the football field #the buttons exist on the elevator still #anyways. i was on the swim team and we met at our rival high school that we were technically a combined team with #but only had like 4 members from the other high school #i believe i was told that it was because the water table where our high school was was too high #something something flooding something swampland #we were definitely right in the deepest part of a river valley right there and the city as a whole is a floodplain #so not surprising that basement 3 and basement 4 are abandoned #i can't find anything online about it though ): and the city library archives for the relevant era only have non-circulating items #in closed stacks #and i live 14 hours away so can't exactly be like 'hey lemme see those :)'

#I know Worqor Lar Dor EX isn't like.#'On content' anymore #but it's the first and only EX I've done while they couldn't be unsynced #(love that btw)(I didn't realize current expac couldn't be unsynced right away)#(I figured it just didn't matter too much because of like. 5-10 iLvls isn't that many.)#But I'm still having a lot of fun freaking out for my life #I DID accidentally decimate my party in Fire Phase on the first pull because I had forgor about the partner stacks #Buuuuuut #As soon as we got back into it #We once again cleared each time in succession #so.#7 clears for 8 pulls in my entire experience with this trial #Ain't so bad #Still #I've only seen wings drop once in that time (1 in 8 isn't so bad on odds for an EX mount drop I knowww)#But I rolled a 70 on it.#And someone else got it.#SOOOO #Knowing my luck with rolls it IS going to take the 99 totems.#That's cool though as long as I don't completely forget the fight again by the time I find another party

#we've been talking a lot about housing and what thatd look like #we might have to budget for one income and ill stack up what i can until we get married and do family planning #i like where we are at now but getting a house big enough to grow into would be nice #itd be nice to be in a town with a grocery store #going to miss the easy walking distance to church and the bar though #maybe well live right across from the church again #i might see if i can get hired locally #but i might have to switch to private music lessons and just be stay at home #we'll see #i really wish hed propose so we can get this show on the road #job changes and a move along with finishing out his military contract are kind of taking precedence right now though #i just want to get married #one step at a time
