I wonder if the historical side of tumblr can help me and my partner!

We recently purchased this gorgeous bovine bone dippen that has both a stamp and a stanhope.

Now we are struggling slightly to figure out the all the letters in the stanhope

Now we are fully aware it is a stanhope of St Albans Abbey (before if it had become a cathedral)

The numbers on the right hand side are just 999 we believe however the letters on the left side are a mystery to us.

We have been unable to even find this picture on the internet anywhere. We've found similar ones.

now i can try to get more photos of it later if need be.

But we are honestly scratching our heads here
