The anatomy of Secret Wish Horses is a little strange and elongated so I strugged a bit, but I enjoyed drawing my favorite horse from the collection. I owned Starlook when I was little.

This was my very first experience using Clip Studio Paint!

Starlooks Lipgloss

Shade: Cuddle

Claim: A truly moisturizing, non-sticky formula available in 47 different shades. Tint ranges from sheer to opaque and finish ranges from shimmer to satin. This creamy, glassy, long-lasting gloss adds a glistening effect to any lip look. Designed to be worn alone or in combination with other Starlooks lip products for a truly customizable finish that completes any look. Each tinted Lip Gloss comes beautifully packaged in a translucent tube with a doe foot applicator.

Ingredients:

Bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2: A sticky paste, semi-solid emollient often used as a lanolin substitute. It's valued for its high water-binding properties, excellent adhesion to the skin and glossy finish.

Polybutene: A oligomeric oil, sometimes derived from petroleum, that is used in its hydrogenated form, as a binder, epilating agent, thickener and lubricant. It is naturally tacky or sticky and is also used for its adhesive properties.

Mineral Oil: Skin replenishing and are also among the most effective, established moisturizing ingredients available. 

BHT (Butylated hydroxytoluene): A fat soluble synthetic compound, in the form of a white/yellow crystalline solid. Primarily acts as an antioxidant food additive because of its ability to preserve fats. It's also used as a preservative. As an antioxidant, it helps fight against the deterioration of cosmetic products caused by chemical reactions with oxygen. It's also known to work synergistically with other antioxidants. 

Silica: Used as an absorbent powder and thickening agent. Certain forms of silica can improve even distribution of pigments in cosmetics and prevents them from settling in makeup. Silica particles can enhance the absorption of other ingredients.

Mica: Earth mineral included in products to give them sparkle and shine. The level and look of the shine mica provides depends on the color and how finely it’s milled. Mica's sheer, translucent and skin-hugging properties make it a popular ingredient in mineral powders. Mica powder reflects light from the face because of its glittering or shimmering properties, and can create the illusion of a smoother, softer and more radiant skin tone.

Titanium Dioxide: An earth mineral used in sunscreens that is capable of blocking both UVA and UVB rays; also used as a pigment.

Iron Oxides: Natural oxides of iron (iron combined with oxygen); pigments are used to enhance colors in cosmetics.

Propylparaben: It is used as a preservative for its anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties to extend the shelf life of beauty and cosmetic products.

Tridecyl Trimellitate: Synthetic ingredient used as a skin-softening agent and texture enhancer.

My Thoughts: I received Starlooks Lipgloss in Cuddle in one of my Ipsy bags. Its a sample size square tube with a doe foot applicator. I didn’t like the doe foot applicator since it didn’t pick up the product well, I found I would have to dip it into the tube a few times to get an even amount on my lips. Cuddle is a beautiful copper, rose gold with a shimmer finish. The pigment tends to be sheer to opaque. I would recommend pairing it with a lipstick since it is not very pigmented, or it can be worn alone. I didn’t find the lipgloss to be hydrating, I found it to be very sticky though. Everything would stick to my lips, especially hair! Which is funny since it suppose to be non sticky.

Starlooks Lipgloss Cuddle has a wonderful vanilla scent to it, its not overwhelming but the scent does last for 3 hours. The lip gloss staying power on the other hand doesn’t last at all long, I would say it last 30 minutes tops with no eating or drinking. After 30 minutes I have to reapply. Drinking and eating, wipes it off complete. I notice that they don’t have this lip gloss on their site anymore. Its either been out of stock or discontinued.

Would I purchase Starlooks Lipgloss? No, its far to expensive and one of the worst lip glosses I have tried in a while.

no one is claiming ethical consumption is entirely possible. No one, not vegans, not anyone. But you can improve the level of harm you cause by making choices every time you consume something. Animal agriculture destroys rainforests and displaces indigenous peoples, it creates toxic runoff which affects communities (usually poor black communities in the USA, for example), it creates ocean dead zones, it kills reefs, it contributes to climate change at a similar level to the transport industry.

now, you can sit there eating burgers and cheese and pretend this has nothing to do with you. Or you can realise that the only way to scare industries like this is to refuse to give them your money.

i agree that it sucks to live in a world where items like the computer I’m typing this on inevitably involve slave labour, where even my vegetables are picked (being Australian) by under-paid itinerant workers. It sucks. But the damage to the environment is an extremely immediate suckage that we need to address now, or we will never get a chance to improve working conditions in third world countries - because they will be under water, or their fields will become desert, or it’ll become so hot those who can’t find refuge will die. 

there is only one way normal people can have any significant say in the industries that contribute to environmental destruction, and that is by refusing to give them money wherever possible. can you live without your car? maybe not. can you go without heating/cooling your house? doubtful. can you switch to veggie burgers instead of quarter pounders, or rice milk instead of dairy, or potato curry instead of beef? yes, you sure as shit can (unless you are under very dire circumstances, and even under extreme poverty the cheapest commodities are usually plant foods).

if you choose to do nothing when you could do something, you’re making a statement that you, personally, do not give a single tap-dancing crap about the people (poor child labourers) you are talking about. you’re closing your eyes, sticking your fingers in your ears and singing la-la-la-capitalism-la-la-la while forgetting that - good news! - you actually aren’t insignificant at all. capitalism relies on consumers who have power to put pressure on supply and demand. maybe you alone, a single person, can’t change the world, but when you eat a veggie lunch and explain to your friends why you chose it, maybe they’ll see things the same way, and tell their friends, and normalise saying ‘no’ to the beef and dairy industries and then, then, maybe, just maybe, when we are spending more money on bean burgers than beef burgers, when we’re demanding cleaner foods and consumables, these beef and dairy and other companies will scent that’s where the money is and change their practices to get our cash back in their pockets again. 

and the best thing is you can do all this while advocating for the end of capitalism. it isn’t an either-or situation.

Celesti bag fra oktober måned.

Illuminate er emnet i denne Celesti bag og den indeholder fire makeup produkter og en olie. Tingene kommer i en Velvet pose og det har de gjordt de sidste par gange, ellers plejer de at komme i en makeup taske. Jeg må indrømme at jeg bedst kunne lide da det var i en makeup taske, det giver et bedre indtryk synes jeg. Der var heller ikke nogle seddel med beskrivelse af produkterne i.

Indholdet er:

- Nabla Cosmetics, Øjenskygge i farven Clementine.

Mærket er fra Italien og har 0% Silicones, Parabens, Mineral Oil, Phthalates, Pegs og EDTA og er både Cruelty Free og Vegan. Farven er en orange farve med glimmer og kommer i en single shadow, til en magnet palette.

- Rivetre by Starlooks, Highlighter/øjenskygge i farven RHS3 Coral Gravure. Indholder 1,2g.

Farven ser først hvid ud, men når man prøver den ser den holografisk ud på huden og skifter mellem forskellige farver.

- Paese, Diomond Eyeshadow i farven 707.

Der er tre farver i øjenskyggen, først en lys brun, så en mellem brun og en mørk brun allesammen med glimmer.

- Paese, Blush i farven 54.

Blushen indeholder argan Oil. Det er en flot fersken farve og den er rigtig cremet, når man rør den.

- Ling skincare, Dual Moisture Emulsion for dry, dehydrated & aging skin. Indholder 30 ml.

Det er en slags olie når man rør ved den, men har ikke prøvet den i nu i ansigtet. Jeg forstår ikke helt hvorfor den er med, når temaet er illuminate og det føles lidt som at de bare har putted den i for at fylde i posen.

This black @starlookscosmetics Luxe Longwear eye pencil is a mechanical eye pencil. It’s black, description says that it’s highly pigmented, but that’s about it. I have a billion black eyeliners. ••• ••• I read the product description and it’s unique from others because it’s a unique to Boxycharm launch. For being a Boxycharm “exclusive launch” it’s not very unique, if i had gotten a colored one maybe i woulda actually tried if myself. I have gotten so many black eyeliners and all of my subscriptions that I’m just overwhelmed with them. I never have to buy eyeliner ever again because not only do I have 1 billion black eyeliners but I don’t even like them. I prefer a colored eyeliners anyways. 😆 ••• ••• I don’t like trying a new product out just for a one time use (to try the formula) so this (honestly) is just going straight into my giveaway @starlookscosmetics is probably great, i would love to try them.. but i see no need to open and hoard some more black eyeliner when somebody else will appreciate it more than myself. ••• ••• I would have rather had the brow product they said we were getting on the stories, (or even a colored eyeliner..) but i get that there are variable products. BEAUTY BAG: Ipsy Glam Bag May + June 2017

Y'know that thing when you get on a waitlist for something and then forget that you're on the waitlist until you get a notification that your bag has shipped and your card has been charged? Or is that just me?

Well, that definitely happened to me because I had totally forgotten that I signed up for the Ipsy GlamBag waiting list until I got the email that it the May bag had already shipped. Oops? Despite my staunch commitment to my spend freeze, I figured I could hopefully at least get some sweet new things to try out of it for not a whole lot, and I was pleasantly surprised by my May selection.  

A full size Caked Lip Fondant matte lip paint In Low Key (the color of which I love but have still not figured out how not to look like a clown in general when I use liquid lip color or a desert dune when I go matte) and Starlooks Artist Edition Luxe Longwear Eye Liner pen were included, along with some nice big samples of IT Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara and Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray. I already know and love UD's Afterglow Highlighter, so that was a nice bonus as well.

I took half points off for the hair product, which I've found I actually like on days when I don't style my hair and want to give it some extra moisturizing (but it still makes me a bit greasy), and for whatever reason the eyeliner had some dumb star stamp on it that I am never going to use. I blame the surge "festival" style/nouveau hippie looks that everyone currently has beauty boners for.

ROI: 390%  |  Verdict: Fuck Yeah

My eyes about popped out of my head when I saw that ROI, however: the value of the selection was nearly 4x the $10 I paid for it. I may have actually said "Fuck yeah!" out loud because I am predictable and I don't care who knows it. I immediately plotted not-so-secretly to hold out for the June bag before I cancelled, just to see if it was as good.

And it kind of was, but also kind of wasn't. This was another good selection of deluxe-size samples and full-size products, but it didn't feel quite so serendipitous as that May selection. I love the Make Up For Ever eyeliner, so that was a welcome addition, but I don't know how I feel about this NYX Whipped Blush and (allegedly) Lip Color--I feel like that kind of coral is not going to look good on my cool complexion.

I'm always down for a detoxifying mud mask, so I'll have to give this Hey Honey Uncover mask a try on a spa night sometime soon, and the Pure Brazilian Ultra Light Nourishing oil might work well as an overnight treatment or something like that, but I'm squirrelly about using too much oil during the day since my hair does tend to get weighed down by heavy products. And the Kokie nail polish is...fine. I don't have a blue like that, but it's also kind of not really my steez at this precise moment, though it might make for a good accent nail color every now and then. Also this brand seems bootleg as hell.

Overall, the rating was as good as the last bag, but less enthusiastically so, if I'm being completely honest. The eyeliner was basically the only product I was super glad to see and excited to use, and it's one I've already tried and liked in the past, so there was nothing all that new or exciting for me in this particular selection.

ROI: 290%  |  Verdict: Not Bad / Sadly Cancelled

So despite that admittedly pretty great ROI, I went ahead and cancelled this subscription for the time being. It might be another one that I pick up later after my stash and my finances are in order, but until then, I need to hold off and be more purposeful with my beauty purchases.
