You notice they have some new scars and bruises that don’t look between old and new. They look at you for a second before handing you a black pearl decorated with stars and then scampering off out of sight*

Ok here's the bits of thought to thier designs for In stars and rain. (Heights not canon, I haven't made references yet.)

Vauguard

The Ever Changing Clan. These slugcats come in all shapes and sizes, even changing by the cycle if they so wish. They are unified in some aspects. Large round eyes, fur (long or short), thick tails, and upwards round ears.

This clan also has unique slugcats called rainmaidens, slugcats capable of unique ancient magic tied to the rain. Identified by the circles in thier eyes.

Ex: Mirabelle, Isabeau, Bonnie

Ka Bue

The Pearl Gathering Clan. These slugcats spend a lot of time underground and evolved to be thin and long with excellent night vision, able to move quickly and stealthily through tunnels. They are identified by long thin bodies, long and thin tails, sharp eyes, very thin to no fur, downward pointed ears, and a few markings that glow in the dark.

Very few slugcats from this clan are granted the privilege to visit the iterator, Expressions Of The Many, despite them being so close to them. Its consider a honor to be granted "The Sharp Pearl" and be able to communicate with the higher beings.

Ex: Typical Pearl Gatherer and Odile

Islanders

The Star Struck Clan The Forgotten Clan. This clan was thought to be extinct only recently have descendants started popping up however, with thier traditions being lost to time, its only a matter of time before they are truly extinct. They're identified by large upwards ears, large tails for swimming, relaxed eyes, multiple starry markings, and pointed fur.

A few descendants appear to have been... changed somehow. Currently they're called star touched, due to thier bright heads with no muzzles they resemble them. They also appear to have thin membrane on their legs resembling aurora borealis.

Ex: Siffrin and Loop

Claws are determined by craft type!

Protecting/Rock - Large and thick. Best for crushing and gripping, slugcats with these tend to be guards for thier clans. They hold enemies in place and kick with thier hind paws and tear with thier teeth.

Piercing/Scissors - Thin and sharp. Best for bleeding and slicing, slugcats with these claws tend to be hunters. They're quick, known for dashing in and out of enemies range to land clean swipes.

Creative/Paper - Small and strong. Best for carving, slugcats with these claws tend to be scouts and watchmen. They use thier claws to carve spears for the clan and have strong and precise aim.

Them. Singular Numinous Intimacy (SNI) and his unnamed slugcat<3

SNI's superstructure is taller than normal so he adapted a cloud/starry theme. He made a slugcat to help defend the structure from creatures that roam above the clouds. The scug's tail is soft like cotton candy and never stops growing so SNI used a part of it on his clothes.

Nightcat ( i made a lot more designs cause its hard for me to get that starry slugcat vibe, if u have a fave caditade do tell)

When it comes to my opinion on these two, I personally like both of them and would hate for one to cover up the other. The nightcat as we know might get a vibe of being more fandom/oc vibe but i still think they are valid and in my book there are the two of them even if one will become more cannon and lore compatible.

Sexuality Headcanon: see below Gender Headcanon: none gender left slugcat. this is true for like all of the slugcats, at most i have pronouns (they/it in this case) and like. for modern/anthro aus presentation (androgynous/fluid in this case) headcanons but i prefer to keep everything genderless A ship I have with said character: you know me .. error 404 truther. i like to headcanon sofanthiel and nightcat are the same character but that both are fractued across time and reality and so interact with each other like different people often. i like the philosophical implications of theoretically being the same individual while having lived totally different lives and occupying different spaces in the current moment thus meaning for all intents and purposes you are as different or as similar as any other two unhaunted individuals. sofanthiel as batshit insane and nightcat as reasonable is also a very fun dynamic. i am not opposed to nightcat/monk (cute!), nightcat/artificer (inexplicably endearing to me), or nightcat/saint (but i prefer that sofanthiel is there as well) A BROTP I have with said character: survivor and monk and nightcat i bet are good friends. gourmand too !! i love the migration cutscene <3 A NOTP I have with said character: i dont ... detest anything so this isnt a NO!!!!! situation, just a .. this is on the bottom of my hierarchy of acceptance but .. i am neutral at best to survivor/nightcat, i find .. my perception poisoned by popular media (not to make any statement on said media; its fine! just not my thing) A random headcanon: ive drawn it starry before but i like to imagine it only looks like that when healthy and active, otherwise it can turn its lights off and be normal black perhaps if it ever needed to hide or something General Opinion over said character: I REALLY REALLY REALLY like nightcat, obviously, adjacent to my love for sofanthiel. nightcats not on my list of favs in my pinned only because i consider it in the same bracket as sofanthiel and obviously i love sofanthiel. im REALLY obsessed with the narrative ive formed of the character in my head, the trope is my absolute favorite to indulge in. being trapped in a game and knowing it, living menial and traumatic lives again and again until it evens out into some normalcy... my most favorite blank slate ive projected onto and warped horrifically <3

I've given so much love to Hunter and Saint that it's always a blast to draw them. I think they're my fav out of everyone else. I've put so much lore in them.

Though I do give props to Enot for just being a blast of a guy. While everyone else has their enots, I enjoy my starry eyed one. My favorite failgirl

I'm still thinking about the G-men on Halloween like. G', Ga-men and E.G. getting ready together and none of them have told each other who they are going as yet and E.G. looks over to see G' figuring out to make his left eye looking like it's dripping and just. Exploding with happiness. Mythos and TTN who both don't know what Halloween is but are having fun dressing up (TTN also dresses up the slugcats as the people they are.) Orion showing up to give Nova a had knitted swater for their costume and telling them to keep it. I love them.

Well since you asked :) Her name is Paradox of the Bells: She likes to appear very serious and professional but in reality she is a huge goofball and is trying to hide it. Even tho she knows she probably shouldn't, she has a slugcat colony that lives tucked away in a hidden corner of her can, and she likes to keep an eye on them and making sure they are safe. She has cut communications with most other iterators due to disagreements on her methods. Long ago she came to the conclusion that searching for a solution was pointless, she figured someone else would find it first anyway so she might as well have fun while the others keep working on it, which somewhat made a lot of the other iterators angry at the prospect she didn't care. She's only keeping contact with two close friends, Whisker's Whisper and Several Constellations, who understood her reasoning.

Built over what would later come to be known as Starry Chime lake, Paradox of the Bells is a peculiar iterator housing an interesting culture within her metropolis. Although a lot of the information on the Paradox of the Bells metropolis is lost they were known for their love of bells, the jingling noise was incredibly charming to them for some reason, the ancients in the town would often have festivals where they'd play melodies and make as much noise as they could, so much noise in fact, that if the wind was blowing the correct way, the festivals could be heard from the neighboring Iterator "Several Constellations" on the other side of the massive lake, Constellations would report to be mildly annoyed by the noise, as they were trying to sleep, but the bells would never stop. Nowadays Paradox of the Bells is abandoned and decaying, the festivals once held atop her no longer occurring and the chimes to tell the time have long stopped. She has fallen silent and the silence bothers her. She is currently devoting her time to mostly upkeeping a slugcat colony and researching alternative methods of transportation, She has developed a prototype of what she calls a "MID - Mobile Iterator Device" which when attached to her back allows for her puppet to wander outside of the main puppet room, although it it currently very short range and she is trying to improve it to be able to explore the world outside, rain and all. She mostly focuses on keeping herself entertained "Paradox of the Bells" is now merely binding her time until she can be set free. Somewhat old drawings:

They follow the stars because they remind them of their family. and they leave graffiti of the constellations wherever they go. They likely travel with a scavenger tribe, of whom I will draw later :>c
