It was certainly the first time Brent had been struck with this growing feeling of need, an absolute desire to just have that man all to himself. It was sttrange, since the politician was quite familiar with having various people propsition themselves to him. But he had always held off, wanting to pour all his time and energy into the right one. And once he had seen the superhero in person, saving him and countless others at City Hall, Brent knew that this was the one.

Fate seemed to agree with him, when the other men had also agreed that they felt the same way. It would make for a welcome addition to their home. But there was the unspoken question of who Spiderman really was underneath his mask. To them, he was just a famed hero with a perfect ass. If they wanted his attention and have him in their lives, they would certainly need to know more about him than just who he was in public.

As someone who rarely waited around for what he wanted, Brent opted to take advantage of the heroes' gala that evening. It was an event to commemorate all the hard work the superheroes had done for the city, and for him to personally thank Spiderman for saving his life once more. Brent had slipped the smaller man a note during their handshake, asking for a more private audience upstairs in his office during the event. And so, here the two of them were, one clad in mystery, and the other willing to lay his cards down on the table.

"I appreicate you taking the time to meet me, Mr. Spiderman. Please, take a seat. This is a bit more of a... personal meeting, I'm afraid. Nothing quite like what's happening downstairs. I have more of a proposition for you, if you'd be willing to listen."

The wilderness had been his home for almost a decade. Sure, he returned home occasionally for work and to visit his twin, and he loved those short interludes, but sleeping in a tent by a fire, surrounded by the wilds? That was home to him. It was comfortable, and fascinating, and stable. There was a lot he didn't have to deal with in the wilds, usually. Namely, he didn't need to worry about people. Out here, the world knew he couldn't understand it. Out here, there was no question of whether he could hear something, or ostracization that came from it.

And that was before the wolf.

Learning to shift between the forms was nothing nearly so simple as movies made it out to be. No matter which form he took, it hurt. Skin pulled and stretched tightly over bone and muscle when he grew into his larger, more traditionally werewolf form. And that was before accounting for the fur. But getting smaller and taking on the form of the wolf didn't immediately come with an easier time, either. Muscles bulked out and shifted across bone, unmaking and remaking himself in the form of the larger wolf, before settling into the form he wore now.

No different in size from any other wolf like him, there was still no question to anyone who knew the local wildlife that he didn't belong. There were no wolves here. Bright blues eyes peered out from amidst a black furred face, and long black legs and paws drew out from below his otherwise brown body. He'd been relaxing an enjoying the scents of the area, basking in the meadow area and its various beautiful flowers.

And then he caught it. The sudden scent of something... else. His eyes opened, and caught a glint of light off of something, and instinct kicked in immediately. He was on his feet in pursuit in a heartbeat, the thrill of the hunt burning through his veins without much consideration for what exactly he was hunting.

you stand in your kitchen, your mind constantly filled with thoughts of your boyfriend while he's off on tour. is he sleeping? maybe he's eating something. i hope he's enjoying it. is he gonna call me? isnt he in new york? thats three hours ahead. three whole hours. so if its six pm here then its... seven... eight.. nine. nine pm there? so is he asleep? i dont know if tour's got him sleepy. gosh. can he call me? i bet he looks so good right now. fuck. then your thoughts are interrupted by a very specific text tone. it's chris! "Hey" "R u busy imy" you read, causing you to almost start jumping for joy in front of your open fridge. although you do a little squeal instead. "definitely not" "call me im begging" you reply. "I like that" he replies, making you giggle to yourself. seconds later, your screen lights up with a picture of chris with a big smile holding your dear friend, madison, 's cat.

"well hellloooo" you answer with a smile far too big. "hey sexy" he smiles back just as much. "i've been waiting for this call" you admit. "yeah? you been thinking about me?" he asks in a cocky tone. but it was lowkey doing things to you. well. highkey. "you'd like that wouldnt you?" you ask. "yeah." he proudly says. "i was actually about to rub one out since im alone. show me your tits" he jokes. "don't tempt me" you giggle. "i mean.. you're free to do whatever you want. you're an adult with free will in your own home" he babbles on. you take a deep breath, honestly debating it. why not? he's seen them pleennttyy of times. more so, touched them plenty of times.

"ya' know." he interrupts your debating. "i've had lots of time to think. especially to think about you. and ya' know, we're never really apart for longer then a week. and it's made me realize that you really hold me down. i feel like i need at least one night with you every week to function. not like night.. i mean one sleep. i feel like it's made me sleep not so well. is that crazy? i'm not making sense. but then also, it'll be like 10 am here and i'll argue with nick or matt and i cant run to you. you'd be asleep and i dont want you to be upset the moment you wake up. i hate this seperation. i hate making you wait.. like what if you stop liking me before i get back. fuck. you're not hanging out with that actor guy you like, right?" he goes ooonnn n on. well boobs wouldnt be too appropriate right now. yet you lift your top up, getting a shocked look from chris. "oh.. i like those.. a lot." he says, a big smile on your face as you shake 'em a little. "just.. stay there for a second" he says, seeing him moving around, clearly pulling his sweats down. "join me, yeah?"

do you think there were any signs that this was Brody’s first show back? Idk how to describe it- but ya know what I mean? Idk I imagine it must feel so fresh for him and everyone having been off for an entire month

i totally get what you mean!! and i would definitely say there were signs!!

for starters, there weren't any signs in a bad way, it didn't seem like brody or any of the other actors were like nervous or anything!! they all actually seemed sooo energetic

i'd say that mostly, there was a lot of physical touch going on. i know that jason is always very touchy with whoever's playing pony, but i think it was taken up a notch what with this being brody's first show back! the entire scene on the bed before great expectations, jason was touching brody's hair and back nonstop. he was like playing with his hair, rubbing his back and shoulders, or like resting his hand on him the whole scene. and then after johnny dies he was basically laying down and just pulled brody down until he was laying on top of jason on the floor. it really seemed like he was taking any chance he could to be physical with brody, his hands never left him if they were in touching range, and it seemed like his affection was more amped than i usually see people describe it

also obviously brent couldn't make this obvious since darry's supposed to be frustrated and everything for most of the show, but you could almost just sense how excited he was to be with brody. whenever they were face to face, especially in ggah when he's holding the bat, there was just a look on brent's face and in his eyes, and the way he was carrying his body that made it seem like being with brody had put his energy through the roof!

as for brody himself, he had SO MUCH energy!! obviously this is my first show so i can't compare it to how he usually is, but he was reallly amped up in terms of his physicality and especially his vocals!! the break must have felt great for his voice, and he nailed every note! not to mention there were multiple times when he added in little runs here and there on certain lines, but i can only remember for sure that one was during far away from tulsa. it made it sound like he was having lots of fun being back! i will say that i'm pretty sure he messed up like one line when him and cherry talk before icttyal, he started talking about his parents death and then just kind of paused and picked up at a different part of the story so i think he almost missed a line and had to throw it in to a random place. but genuinely, that was the one mistake he made the entire show and it was barely noticeable!

overall brody was AMAZING and i think the break was really good for him, he seemed excited and energetic and ready to get back into it. definitely the biggest sign that it was his first show back was just how the other cast members interacted with him on stage, the energy was really up and they all just looked so excited to be there with him again!!

The Outsiders Musical Pt. 2: Notes on the Cast

for a master post of all of my posts about my outsiders experience, click here. i recommend looking at this before reading the individual posts!

note: i might come back and add some things to this, but i wanted to get it posted while the stuff i wrote about dally's actor(s) was still technically accurate. only two days left until alex joseph gray's debut!! yay!! read on for my thoughts about the outsiders cast! (cast member names and characters are in bold to make it easier to skim, as this post is really fucking long)

edit: i doubt anyone is coming to this post for information, but alex joseph grayson’s debut has been pushed back to march seventh. daryl tofa will play dally all of this week. yay for daryl!! (not changing the original text, just putting this info here so everyone sees it)

okay!! for starters: i saw 4 understudies. 

Trevor Wayne played Ponyboy instead of Brody Grant. I was a bit bummed about this at first but he was very good!! Everyone please pour one out for the teenager in the center front row wearing an “I ♥️ Brody Grant” t-shirt. Trevor did give them a copy of the book during the final number (this happens every show) and my only thought was “Thank god.” because like. I would’ve crashed out if that was me. Poor kid. I hope they had a good night.

Daryl Tofa played Dally instead of Joshua Boone, because Joshua Boone actually left the show on January 26th of this year. I'm not gonna lie, I was kinda upset when I saw this as we walked in (I did not know he had left until a couple days [and a tiktok deep dive] later). I’d been really looking forward to seeing Joshua Boone who I think did a fantastic job as Dally. However!!! Daryl Tofa was phenomenal. He usually plays Two-Bit so I had no idea about how he would pull this off, but zero complaints here!! More on his performance later. (side note: i believe several actors are rotating filling the part depending on availability, who else is out, etc., until February 28th, when Alex Joseph Gray will take over. However, anyone who gets to see Daryl Tofa play him should feel lucky! He is, again, really truly wonderful). 

And Two-Bit was played by Henry Julián Gendron instead of Daryl Tofa and Steve was played by Ryo Kambayashi instead of Renni Anthony Magee. These weren’t very noticeable changes imho, and as with all of these actors, i wouldn’t have been able to guess they weren’t principles if i hadn’t known.

Everyone involved with the show is incredible, and I was happy to have seen understudies, as it really makes the experience unique! I wasn’t sure how I felt at first, as this will very likely be my only time seeing the show, at least on Broadway, but as soon as Trevi walked up the aisle and hopped on stage, I bought in. At the end of the day, I was there to see The Outsiders, not Brody Grant (Again, pour one out for that kid). And the show was wonderful.

With that out of the way, let’s get into it!

My favorite performance of the show was Brent Comer as Darrel Curtis. This came as a surprise to me, but the more attention I paid to him, the more wowed I was. The strength of his voice and his ability to project were pretty much unmatched by the rest of the cast. His voice also had a really rich quality to it that I personally enjoyed, mostly just because of his low range. There's such an openess to it, if that makes any sense.

Darrel hasn’t ever been my favorite character before (I’ve been a Dally fan since day one), but I left this show wondering why that was. Perhaps because the musical gives us more one-on-one time with him, more of the story from his perspective,  I found myself really connecting with him in a way I hadn’t before. He really is stuck with nowhere left to go, and though he does put up a tough front for the most part, we get to see this facade peel away somewhat–especially when Pony is at the church, and Darry is alone with Sodapop.

In the song “Throwing in the Towel,” all of his resentment and frustration from earlier in the show fall away to reveal what it was really all about in the first place–he cares and worries about his little brothers, who he now is essentially raising. And oh, my goodness, Brent Comer just plays it so well. The heartbreak and utter defeat that he’s feeling are so evident. Also worth mentioning–in that song and in the following number, “Soda’s Letter,” there are some three-part Curtis brother harmonies that are pretty cool on the cast album, but utterly mind-blowing live. I wish I could remember exactly how they sang it, but alas, the excitement overrides everything. It was really magical, and I do know for certain that Brent Comer absolutely soared. I think he did some kind of opt-down? God I don’t even know, it was just so fucking amazing.

Additionally, in a scene towards the end including all three Curtis brothers, Darry and Soda are sitting at the dining table, and Pony comes out of his room to join them. He asks to eat dinner, and it’s been stated before that he’s barely eaten in weeks. When Soda asks what Pony was writing, etc. etc, they reach a point where Soda asks if he will be in the story, Pony says Darry might be too. Darry says, “Oh, great. Just make sure to give me fantastic hair.” and he is visibly crying. I think this starts around when Pony asks for food, but I’m not quite sure. Regardless, it is so emotional, and communicates so much about how much Darry cares about his brothers.

So yes! Yay for Brent Comer!

Trevi Wayne’s Ponyboy was so funny. Like, I’m not sure how Brody or anyone else plays him, but he had so many line deliveries that really drove home that he was a fourteen year old boy. 

Standouts were: 

Him and Johnny sizing each other up, and swaggering very slowly over to Cherry and Marcia at the drive-in

His A++ delivery of, after Cherry tells Pony not to take it personally if she doesn’t say hi to him, “I’m not gonna lie, that didn’t make me feel too hot.” This actually got some of the most laughs of anything in the entire show, and deservingly

His and Johnny’s exchange in the church, after Johnny has dyed Pony’s hair. Pony asks, so abruptly, it’s like he’d been fighting it back and couldn’t, if he looks like Julie Andrews. Johnny says no, he looks more like Burt Lancaster in Elmer Gantry. Ponyboy replies, “Burt Lancaster’s a sissy! And Elmer Gantry is a terrible movie!” And when I tell you Trevi absolutely delivered the annoyance, indignation, and distress that a fourteen year old boy would feel in this situation, I really mean it. Johnny, rather helplessly, offers up, “Paul Newman, then.” Pony pauses, looks at Johnny like he doesn’t quite believe him, and then, mood instantly lifted, says: “...no shit?” Maybe this doesn’t sound funny reading it like this. I PROMISE you, it was so fucking funny live. I loved it.

He just really seems like a kid, it was wonderful and he was great. He also has a lot of vulnerability, especially in scenes where he’s narrating, such as right before the church fire, and when we see Dally’s death, which further drives home just how young Pony is. He had so much sorrow, it was really remarkable. And of course his singing voice is amazing.

Moving on to Daryl Tofa, the man that he is… Like Trevi with Ponyboy, Daryl plays Dallas very young, very playful at times. I loved this decision!! He’s just so so good and I don’t actually know what else to say hmm… His scene with Johnny (new for the show) before the drive-in was INCREDIBLE. He doesn’t push Johnny, he’s careful with him, his delivery of “I’ve got a hershey bar” and him dangling it in front of Johnny was maybe the most adorable thing that happened all show. His whole relationship with Johnny and Pony, actually! The protectiveness and love he feels for them is so evident.

Also! Daryl’s version of - “Little Brother”. I don’t know if other actors do this, or if he does this every time, but he screamed “does anybody care” before returning to singing “when a greaser disappears.” This already hits hard in the cast album, and I was in no way prepared for this delivery of it. I’m pretty sure I jumped, and it echoed around the theater in the craziest way. I started crying right then, it was so powerful.

Dally's death scene, also? Heartbreaking. Devastating in every way. How he dug his feet in just as Pony said maybe he did, but how he eventually winced and curled in on himself, bracing for impact. I'm not crying you are.

Short(er) notes on other cast members, in no particular order:

Jason Schmidt🩷 ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 and yeah that’s mostly what I have to say. I love him, he plays Sodapop equal parts hilarious and tender, and brings all the necessary nuance to his character. His singing voice? You’ll never believe it, it’s also great. I love the roundness of it, I love how much energy he puts into every single note of every song. “544 FUCKING PAGES?” iconic. King shit. The way he comforts Darry in “Throwing in the Towel”....don’t even. Oughhhh Curtis brothers save me…save me Curtis brothers. Sorry this is so incoherent, I just think he’s neat.

Emma Pittman was Cherry Valance and goodness, does anyone exist more perfect for the role? Her voice is crystal clear. She’s strong when she needs to be, but also gentle and sensitive. She holds herself with such poise and grace, just like you would imagine a Soc girl would. In the scene where she brings Johnny’s things to the Curtis house, the way she talks about the sunset, in an effort to get a response from Ponyboy, is just heartbreaking. Incredible. Her inner conflict is clear and I loved her.

Sky Lakota Lynch is Johnny Cade and I do feel like a lot of what I like about Trevi goes for him as well, but a couple other notes; his constant anxious fidgeting is such a great touch for Johnny’s character. He’s always moving, until after the fire, when he’s so horribly still. Plays Johnny very young, and he and Trevi had great chemistry, for lack of a better word. He’s such an incredible, emotional performer. Lowkey he should’ve won that tony but anyway…

Dan Berry was Paul, he was great and would’ve been even better if he’d kissed Darry instead of punching him, but nobody’s perfect.

Kevin William Paul plays Bob and the cop in acts one and two respectively. Frankly I almost laughed out loud at “Eat shit, Marcia,” and I would have if I wasn’t lowkey scared of him. He’s intimidating, both as Bob and as the cop. In “Justice for Tulsa”, when the cop is interrogating Dally? Yeah, that was genuinely frightening.

Melody Rose as Beverly–Speaking of things that were scary, Beverly burning Two-Bit with her cigarette during “Justice for Tulsa” was also just plain upsetting. Melody Rose does it with such sass I honestly can’t be anything but impressed. Go girl go!

Marcia was SarahGrace Mariani, who was very funny in the drive-in scene, but also shows real grit in standing up to Bob. It was really sad to see her not side with Cherry in the end of the split among the Socs. Also, the costume eats? Yeahhhh

Henry Julián Gendron as Two-Bit! Funny as hell, I wish I remembered more about his performance, especially his “Hoods Turned Heros”.  Argh oh well.

Tilly Evans-Krueger’s Ace saying “You wish” lives rent-free in my head. You wish you were as cool as her. What are she and Two-Bit doing under that bench at the drive-in?

Ryo Kamibayashi as Steve was great! He does not do too too much if we’re being so real, but like! He’s still great! It’s the little things, like how devastated he looks after Johnny dies, that really make his performance sing.

Okay, I think I hit everyone I really wanted to! Overall, the whole cast is fantastic!! Every single person is so talented, and they all make the show what it is.

wut do u think makes brent comer so good as darrel? he is such a standout. like my fav bway newsletter said he is the best and most underrated in the show but tbh i think all 3 of the curtis bros r sooo perfectly cast.

ooooh okay this is a good question . okay for starters, i have not seen the show, just small clips and audios. this is just my opinion.

i think it’s just brent is an amazing actor, and took a character we knew things about but not that much, and who we saw from the perspective of an unreliable narrator, and built upon it and made it his own. the little things he does, like in the background, and the big things (such as the final scene) all come together to make such a wonderful performance worthy of praise.

i feel the same with jason; it’s hard to play a character who you only know things about from an unreliable narrator but the two brothers made it work. i’m honestly just rambling but i just think brent took the script given to him and built this character so well in a way that he becomes a showstopper. i have never seen or heard anything negative about his performance as darrel and if that doesn’t say anything about it idk what does.

Brent Fissure City.

It's a town. Sort of. Clearly whomever founded the place had designs on it being some great center of civilization, but only managed to attract a few hundred residents to the middle of nowhere. It is defensible, constructed of and into space-faring debris lodged in the rock wall overlooking an enormous canyon down into a dusty abyss, and boasts a couple of healthy Plants that are not strained for resources.

Even Nicholas has to admit that it's... nice.

It is a bizarrely nice place on a bizarrely nice day and this far north of the equator the angle of the suns is just a little more merciful, the shadows a little longer, a little cooler. Best of all, the Brentites don't often get visitors. They are so far out of range of federal radio broadcasts that they only receive the odd blip of satellite feed, so they are eager to show friendly travelers hospitality in exchange for news and gossip.

No good thing lasts forever, but it is ideal enough to just take a minute.

Perched by the overlook, Nicholas has a lidded cup of coffee in one hand and a fresh-baked eclair in the other. He's savoring the oblong sweet slowly. He is deliberate about it, taking the time to lave glistening chocolate frosting and sweetened cream from a small section of it with the tip of his tongue, and then ever-so-gently biting the pastry to chew.

Punctuated with sips of coffee, real coffee, it is not a substantial breakfast, but it is nourishing in other ways.

for starters, i wanted to experiment with changing the type of bread he's based on. i can assume chuck is based on the classic sandwich made up of white bread (...💀) so i wanted to change it up for latino chuck.... yknow... yknow.... yknow.... 🕴️

i'm also just not a fan of plain white bread 🤕 LMFKAJDKSN

i had a couple of options to chose from so i can upgrade his sandwichness™ 💭 but i decided to settle onnnnnnn..........................

funky multigrain bread!! my favorite 🥄🥄‼️ anytime i make a sandwich, i usually reach for this bread... (and when i say "anytime" i mean the times i'm extra and watch a chuck episode while eating a sandwich 💀💀)

i like the idea of chuck having seeds and grains on his face... think of it like moles, freckles, or even acne scars if you will 🤷‍♂️ brent straight-up has seeds on him that represent freckles so why not, right⁉️ we can get creative here w/ it!!

above is a fast doodle, but it is what i ended up sticking with for my design. if you see in the final drawing, i did shift around with some of his costume colors to make it work with the bread type-colors!!

i imagine brent being a variation of bread that looks similar to chuck. that way chuck can be multigrain bread and brent can be another type.

parent who is multigrain bread + parent who is another type of bread = two siblings, each being one of two options of bread because of genes™ (wow. sandwich person science 😍😍🥪🧬 /s)

my two options for brent's bread type? because i will probably never draw that man? either molasses bread (left) or even dark rye (right)?? but i lean towards dark rye brent because that idea seems so scrumptious to me

ngl i have never been too sure what type of bread brent is based on......

the wiki doesn't really help me decide. he has freckles that seem to be like seeds, so that means he's a type of bread that has seeds. but also, not that many seeds.... which is likely an animation thing since animating all those damn seeds must be hard. but idk? but his skin tone is very slightly darker than chuck so that makes me think he isn't white bread based™ (help what am i talking about)

if any bread experts™ out there have some guesses, let me know so we can talk about that more. for some reason, this is really fascinating.

It was practically a tradition at this point for Freddy and Bonnie to spend a day at the amusement park shortly after the Bunnie family's annual trip. As much as the freckled bassist loved spending time with his siblings, he always ended up watching the younger ones that were too short to ride all the big, intense roller coasters. Mom and Dad took the triplets and Brielle around kiddie land, whereas Brent, Bridgette, and Bibi ran off to go ride all the stuff Bonnie wanted to, leaving the responsible teenager to keep an eye on the fellow middle children. That's why he and Freddy always went back: to give Bonnie the chance to ride what he missed out on.

Bonnie absolutely loved it, because who wouldn't want to spend the day at the amusement park with their best friend?! Especially since he didn't get to ride the park's new giga coaster, Night Train. While it didn't have any inversions, he'd heard nothing but good things about this ride, and it was even made by one of his favorite manufacturing companies, so he knew that the restraints would be nice and comfortable. Bonnie had been geeking out about this coaster for months before it opened, so naturally, standing in line to ride it was a hard thing for the brunette to do.

Hullo. First, thanks for the bookmark and kudos on my alpha/beta king of soph fic. Saw you asking people to share their omegaverse headcanons, so why not share some of them here:

In my a/b/o, Sophist is a late bloomer alpha who presents as bete even after his coming of age. His first rut was a disaster, his previous partner pushed him and there was no communication, leading him to overdose on suppressors whenever his rut's approaching. It takes a long take to trust Brent (or the other fellas too if we go the poly route) with his ruts. His scent is a mix of spices (cinnamon, clove, anise...)

Brent's a beta, has always been a beta and presents as one. For me betas are the closest to "normal humans", so he barely can smell pheromones (until mated) and his body is not prepared to take a knot or claiming bites (that doesn't stop him from having a knot kink tho-). His scent is backed goods (with a sourdough starter smell when distressed)

Nick's an omega who presents as an alpha. Like Sophist, he's into suppressors because he doesn't accept his secondary gender. He gets very violent during his heats and he fights any alpha that tries to help him. And he's a mess while nesting, so much that Vernias had to teach him how is done. His scent is herbs (rosemary, cumin, lavender...)

And Vernias is an alpha who presents as an omega. He likes to break gender norms, and that includes secondary gender norms. Wears omega collars just for fashion, loves nesting and he's the one wanting his mate to scent him instead of the other way around. The first alpha who hit on him thinking he was an omega landed his rear on the hospital. His ruts are very a/b/o stereotypical, and his scent is based on sweets (syrups, cotton candy, berries and cream...)

My omegaverse is pretty specific and non-traditional bcause I'm tired of the plots beats of the genre. But this would be it. Have a good one.

If the man had been any less inebriated, it's unlikely Georgia would have been able to move him -- but the sloshed state of the vampire caused him to stumble back several steps while laughing, completely amused at the slender little human girl who dared to deny him. He'd try again, but Georgia would grab the little olive pin from her martini and stab it straight through his hand that was resting on the bartop. She didn't stick around to find out what would happen and instead grabbed her glass and rushed past whoever was in her way and made a beeline for the other side of the club.

It was dark, lights flashed everywhere, and the music was way too loud. The demon who owned this place decided that having one of those 80's music nights would be a howl, but she wasn't a fan. This place was meant to be a neutral ground for all the creatures that now roamed Earth -- some sort of truce in a space they could drink and hang out and dance and do all sorts of sketchy shit without worrying that someone was hunting them down. The demon who owned the place was pretty high ranking, and no one really dared to fuck around too much here.

Georgia weaved through the crowds until she found the second bar towards the back of the establishment. Her now-empty glass was set down, another glance over her shoulder to make sure the vampire hadn't followed her. "Brent! Hey, B..." She waved over the bartender she knew, some Elven kid who was pretty good at slinging drinks. "I need another one of these. And uh, do me a favor, huh? If you see a tall dark and not-handsome undead guy come looking for me, you don't know who the fuck he's talking about, okay? One with fangs."

She'd pluck the fresh martini off the bar and turn around again, but this time she walked right into the chest of someone she absolutely didn't know. In fact, Georgia stumbled back a little even, her head tipping back to look up to the man she walked into. Oh, she hadn't met him before. "Uh, you're in my way."

Norwegian Christmas vocabulary and traditions

Førjulstid / Adventstid 🕯🍷✨

Mange markerer adventssøndagene med en lysestake med fire stearinlys. Første søndag i advent tennes det første lyset, og for hver adventssøndag tennes et nytt lys.

I ukene før jul er det vanlig at bedrifter, foreninger og vennegjenger har julebord. Det er en førjulsfest, et selskap eller restaurantbesøk der det blir servert tradisjonell julemat, ofte i form av en buffet. 

På de fleste julemarkeder kan man smake på gløgg (en varm, kryddet drikk som inneholder vanligvis rødvin), i tillegg til tradisjonelle julegodterier som brente mandler. Juleøl, et mørkt og krydret øl, kommer i butikkene i november og serveres ofte i I adventstiden.

Mange pynter huset med julepynt: kranser, nisser, engler, stjerner osv. Det er vanlig med juletre i stua som dekoreres med glitter og julekuler. 

Jul og Romjul 🎁🌲🍽

Lille juleaften, 23. desember: mange familier har egne tradisjoner denne kvelden, som å pynte juletreet, lage pepperkakehus, og se på Grevinnen og hovmesteren på NRK.

Julaften, 24. desember, er høydepunktet i norsk julefeiring. De fleste spiser julemiddag hjemme eller hos slektninger. Tradisjonelle juleretter er ribbe, pinnekjøtt, julepølse, lutefisk, juletorsk, medisterkaker, og risgrøt/julegrøt. Det finnes en utbredt tradisjon om å putte en skåldet mandel i julegrøten som serveres på (lille) julaften. Den som finner mandelen får en liten gave. Og når vi snakker om gaver: julegavene er på forhånd lagt under juletreet, og pakkes ut på kvelden julaften.

Første juledag (25. desember) og andre juledag (26. desember) er offentlige fridager. De fleste har fri fra jobben, og dagene brukes gjerne til familieselskaper, å gå ut på tur i skogen og å kose seg med gaver, filmer osv.

Romjulen starter når andre juledag er over, det vil si fra og med 27. - 31. desember. Fra 27. desember er butikkene åpne og mange haster rundt for å bytte julegaver som de ikke vil ha eller å kjøpe det de vil i romjulssalg til redusert pris. Men den er ofte en rolig tid, og mange tar en hyttetur eller bruker romjulen til friluftsaktiviteter. Det fant en tradisjon med å gå julebukk. Barn kledde seg ut, gikk rundt på besøk til folk, ringte på dørene og sang julesanger for de som åpner, men denne skikken er ikke vanlig lenger.
