BEFORE THE DUNGEON EVENT:

This era of jinwoo was so cute he looked so squishy I'm biting my bedsheets. This time is the perfect moment where jinwoo gets his reasons on why he's a little cuckoo over [y.name].

Jinwoo always came home covered in bruises and maybe with a dent in his mental health. I mean not only you face life threatening monsters but you also face the words of your fellow hunters that consists of demeaning and degrading your whole existence does horriblewonders to Jinwoo's mental health! After when his mother came out of the picture by falling ill to the Eternal Slumber, Jinwoo had to face the expectations on becoming the breadwinner and help to keep his family a float.

Jinwoo doesn't have ambitions or anything during this time, not when he's too focused on trying to feed Jinah and pay the bills. He's a blank pitiful slate who's being driven by desperation and the promise he made to his mother to take care of his sister. He doesn't have anyone to turn to and he can't tell what he's experiencing to his sister because that'll make her worry for him! Jinwoo doesn't want his sister to flunk her studies because he made her worry for him... so he's basically alone.

Until you come in to the picture. [y.name] one of the few people who saw him as a person instead of some weak pitiful excuse of a hunter. It doesn't really matter how you meet Jinwoo, whether it be through connections, after a dungeon raid, or you randomly meeting him on the street, what matters is how you perceive him as a person and how you turn his miserable world upside down.

When [y.name] entered his life, it felt like a ball of light entered his dim world but not as if [y.name] was extremely energetic or what not. It was more like that [y.name] ignited something within Jinwoo. [y.name] would stop by and talk to Jinwoo, solidifying his self as a person. They would talk about ideals and goals and even encourage Jinwoo to maybe create his own when they found out that he didn't had any of his own. Jinwoo felt so warm inside whenever he'd spent time with [y.name]. He felt so inexplicably happy.

Jinwoo decided that [y.name] is his goal and the driving force of his ambitions.

Jinwoo limped a bit as he walked towards his small apartment he shared with his sister. It was what remained when his mother was sent to the hospital for falling ill. He groaned silently as he clenched his arm that was throbbing in pain. Even after being recently healed by Joohee, he could still feel the pain of his arm being battered to smithereens.

He wondered how many dungeon raids left till he'll perish by the hands of some low ranking monster.

The young man approached his door before suddenly being called out by a familiar voice. Jinwoo turned around and his bleak mood was changed into a more joyful one.

"Jinwoo! I caught 'ya this time!" [y.name] giggled as they skipped over to Jinwoo, a small mischievous smile plastered on their features. Jinwoo chuckled at [y.name]'s words as he admired [y.name]. He wondered what did he do in his life to meet [y.name]

Jinwoo hoped that the next dungeon raid isn't the one where he'll perish by the hands of a monster.

AFTER THE DUNGEON EVENT:

Jinwoo would probably avoid contacting [y.name]. After realizing he has a new opportunity to get stronger. His mental health before wasn't the best, he often thought he was pulling [y.name] back and has this mindset that he didn't deserve any of the kindness he was receiving from anyone especially from [y.name]

But now? he has now the chance to pay them all back by becoming stronger and become someone they can all rely on. So randomly... he'll just disappear from [y.name]'s life randomly. Jinwoo feels horrible but he isn't ready to face [y.name] again but he promises to himself that he'll meet his darling[y.name] soon.

Jinwoo would admire [y.name] from afar and sometimes do this just for the sake of answering to his personal question of: "I wonder how are they doing now?". Jinwoo is aware how much it hurts to [y.name] that he randomly disappeared from their life without a word especially how worried they were for him.

When Jinwoo finally deems he's prepared and worthy enough to face [y.name] he almost forgotten how different he looked when he last met [y.name]. Jinwoo almost scared [y.name] away when a devilishly handsome tall young man approached them with a bouquet of flowers in hand. Thankfully, [y.name] recognized the man from the slightly meek demeanor he showed.

Maybe after a few more meetups and catch ups, [y.name] would notice the many changes on Jinwoo's overall.. being? like aside from the fact he's now built like a sculpture made by the gods, he's more confident and charming?.. Jinwoo of course didn't miss the way how [y.name] would quiet down and stare at Jinwoo, taking note every little different detail on Jinwoo. This fed the hunter's ego and was proud how his hardwork paid off.

While [y.name] was admiring Jinwoo, they didn't notice how Jinwoo added a few of his shadows into [y.name]'s shadow. His love for [y.name] during their absence has doubled a thousand fold and the lengths he'd go for [y.name] is now boundless. Jinwoo's goal of achieving [y.name] might not be impossible anymore if he pushed himself a bit more just like what [y.name] says.

After meeting up with Jinwoo, [y.name] bid the hunter goodbye as they exited the cafe. [y.name] was pleasantly joyful that Jinwoo didn't forgotten about them and met up with them again after a few years but this still didn't made [y.name] pissed off over the fact he basically ghosted them for a few years too!

[y.name] walked down the cold street that was dimly lit up by the lamp posts around the area. They shivered a bit as they tried to warm up their hands by shoving one of them in their trenchcoat's pocket. [y.name] was on their phone when they suddenly bumped into a man by accident.

"ow.. oh? I'm sorry I didn't notice you there I'm really sorr—" [y.name] stammered out as they bowed their head in apology but then they felt a hand pushing them hard enough to be stumble back into a lamp pole, hitting their back pretty hard. The man reached out to [y.name]'s trenchcoat's pocket and pulling out their purse then he ran away with their purse in hand.

"agh! what the- my purse?!" [y.name] yelled as they rubbed their back to ease the throbbing pain as they tried to run after the robber.

Unfortunately for [y.name] he was fast on his feet and after for a while they lost him. [y.name] panted as they decided to not give up yet and looked around the now lightless and eerie street, it seems like the robber ran into a more abandoned side of the city.

[y.name] roamed around the street and would peak occasionally inside of alleyways hoping to catch the man but much to their dismay, they haven't seen any glimpses or hints. They mindlessly walked around, slowly losing hope until they heard a quick shriek then a hard thump from a nearby alleyway. A cold sweat went down their neck as they froze in place... Did something happen?

[y.name]'s eyes narrowed down on the alleyway where they assumed the sound originated from. They contemplated for a bit whether they should check it out before they decided to see what it was, clinging on the possibility it might be their purse. [y.name] slowly peeked their head in the alleyway and immediately gasped at the sight.

The man who stole their purse on floor, wriggling in pain before a dark figure. Froth was coming out of his mouth as dark inky shadows circled around his throat. His ankles looked twisted but in a very unnatural degree that it looked grotesque.[y.name]'s eyes shakily looked at the soon to be a corpse then up to the figure who was holding their purse. They blinked blankly at the figure.. [y.name] recognized him?!

"Jin..woo?..." [y.name] murmured underneath their breath as the figure looked up to see [y.name] who was pretty shaken up. The light finally hits the figure's and it revealed it was indeed Jinwoo... but he had this soulless glint in his eyes that suddenly brighten up at the sight of [y.name]

"ah. [y.name]" He called out as he walked past the struggling man and approached [y.name] who took a step back away from Jinwoo. This made his heart wrench.

"don't. don't move away. it's dangerous at this time, you shouldn't be alone" Jinwoo continued as he was finally in front of a terrified [y.name]

"you shouldve accepted my offer walking you home"

CONCEPT: folk legend!sjw/biologist!reader

tw: missing people, stalking, implications of cult, really really itty bittt twinge of yandere if you squint really hard. also mostly word vomit i just wanted this concept out of my head oh god

Imagine you're a biologist who decided to go back to your little town that's located nearby an eerie mountain thats surrounded with equally eerie forests. You heard from your parents that there was a sudden shift in the wildlife and the animals seems to decreasing in population which concerns the wildlife protection department of your town.

So this piques your interest and you decided to visit your hometown. You were warmly greeted by the locals and you caught up with your old childhood friends by drinking in the local bar where you swung your first drink. After all that you shifted back your focus on the main reason why you went back, the wildlife is acting strange.

You decided to daytime observation first, quietly watching the remaining animals and see what could possibly be behind the sudden disappearances of the animals. This didn't work much to your dismay so that means you had to conduct night time observations. Your parents was worried but you reminded that you're a licensed researcher and you know what you're doing. Reluctantly, your parents let you go out into the forest.

But of course before you leave, one of the town's elders grabbed you the side and gave you a warning. A warning that you should probably back out and continue with your daytime observations and not continue this one... You of course don't listen, you're an adult! Why will you sway to the words of an old lady or a stupid legend that was made for children to keep them in check? You're an adult, a person of science and logic. Folk tales are neat but isn't exactly your thing.

Though.. honestly you wished you heeded the elder's warning. When you entered the forest you saw things that wasn't there in the morning. Strange tied up sticks that was shaped like dolls hanged in the trees or twine wrapped around the trunks that had pieces of paper stuck on to it. You were pretty sure this is not the doing of an animal but what sick person would do this? It all looked so... ritualistic. You crouched down on to the leafy floor and picked up a 'doll' that fell off from the tree, it had a poorly sewed clothes on it and black coarse animal hair glued on to its head, resembling a pretty shaggy haircut. It looked like an old friend. You looked at it, noting the little details of the doll. This suddenly reminds you of a time when you were younger that there was a series of missing people cases in this town.

One of those victims was your friend, Jinwoo, and he was the last person to go missing during that time. You remember you were adamant on searching the forest yourself to find him but your parents stopped you and locked you in your room just in case you tried to sneaked out into the forest. You honestly missed him but you shook your head, dwelling on the past will hinder your research. Stepping away from the ritualistic scene, you continued hiking into the forest trying to find a suitable place to observe the wildlife in the night.

After a while of wandering around, you found a good place to set up your gear. You unzipped your bags and prepared your things when suddenly you felt a shift in the air, a shiver went down your spine when you moved your head to see if there was anything there. You were told the locals rarely walk outside anymore especially past 7pm, a result of the cases back then. So no one should be out at this hour in the forest, you should be alone.

You decided to ignore it first and focus on finishing your set up. When you finished gearing up and prepping your things you got another shot of eerieness that made your body tingle. Just what the hell is happening? You felt you were being watched from every angle but when you look around you don't see anything. Were you being preyed upon an animal?

You readied your pepper spray that was stored in your pocket, animals typically stays away from you if you're deemed as the biggee threat. So, as long you know how to appear bigger and scarier you should be fine. You've been doing this for years now but something tells you there's something not right, it feels... like it's not an animal preying on you but you can't exactly explain it. Your mind goes back to the moment where you stumbled upon a weird place in the forest that had a bunch of ritualistic things and you touched a weird doll that looked an old friend, it might be related to that.

Before you could continue deducing in your head you hear a loud crunch in the dark. This is starting to creep you out. You started to try to calm yourself and rationalize your thoughts. You're a person of science you shouldn't be this scared just think of something that makes sense it might be just a wolf or a bear.. hopefully. As you tried to steady your mind the light from your gear suddenly shuts off and you were enshrouded in darkness.

This is where the sounds of footsteps and howling started to intensify, Your heart was racing as you didn't move from your spot. You were shaking as you held your pathetic little pepper spray and tried to block out the noises. How the hell are you supposed to rationalize this?! You were panicking hard as you finally dropped to your feet and covered your ears, still holding the spray in your other hand.

Then all the noise stopped but you can feel SOMETHING behind you. It doesn't feel human or something you could comprehend and your mind is running back to the little warning the old sweet elder tried warninfg you of. Is this the end? They said it was monstrous from the rare sightings. I think you remember the elder saying it started appearing shortly after the end of the series of disappearances. Your mind is fogging up from panick.

You felt it's hand on your shoulder, it's cold breath right beside your neck. It spoke and... you recognize the voice. You finally turned your head and you were greeted with a pair of deep purple eyes staring right back at you, it felt like you were starung back to the abyss. You called out it's name

"Jinwoo?"

hii!!! and omg so many liu zhigang lovers im so happy but here are some of my takes on the pretty man and welcome ✒️ nonnie!!! 🫶

LIU ZHIGANG HEADCANONS

he's probably one of the loudest people you've met in your life but not in a volume wise loud.. like he probably doesn't shut up if he gets comfortable with you. when you first meet him, you might have the urge to wish that he just shuts up but nowadays you find it endearing how he talks about his day and how the raid went. it might be his cocky tone that steer people away but you somehow find it attractive as time passes by.

liu zhigang has the best hair routine and whenever you spend time with him you can catch a whiff of the fruity scented hair products he uses. his mother probably took good care of his hair and taught him how to watch over it, this probably stuck with him. he lets you run your fingers through his hair, feeling satisfied that all the effort of taking care of his hair scored him a sweet significant other that's you! you often catch him smugly smiling to himself as you play or comb his hair.

liu zhigang is stylish! i have a feeling when he finally earned enough he started to explore different types of fashion and is well versed in making up outfits. his go to colors though are reds, golds, blacks and probably white or silvers depending on which one looks better. zhigang would love to dress you up and match outfits, feeling a bit prideful whenever you two walk around the streets and people would gawk at the sight of you two's outfits because it's intricately designed with traditional chinese dragons and it mostly screams liu zhigang in the best way.

he gives the best hugs— i mean have you seen that one panel where he finished fighting off a titan?? that man is JACKED, he just looked so skinny when he wore the suit... anyway he gives the best hugs and it's usually in a form of a bear hug but it doesn't matter if he tackles you to the ground, it feels comfortable and safe in his arms. this probably becomes one of his reasons why he keeps up his muscular form, not because it's overall convenient maybe it's to give the best hugs haha.... he's too prideful to admit that though but it's definitely there—

I don't know but he gives me the vibe he would occasionally talk in his sleep if he's dead tired. you've experienced this for the first time when he had a tiring day of fighting a titan in the sea presumably with no land around him so he was probably... swimming and simultaneously fighting it which made a picture in your head of liu zhigang swimming furiously which made you laugh. anyway he would be sleeping beside you and mumble something in his sleep. this of course made you curious and when you lean in closed to under what the hell is he saying you would discover he was saying your name along with some cutesy lovey dovey mumbo jumbo which made you a little bit surprised. you're definitely gonna use this to tease zhigang later

this might be me self projecting but he probably has a small collection of perfumes. he smells surprsingly good and refreshing most of the time, since his nature of work would result to him being worked up and body temperature rising i feel blue scented perfume which are commonly to be refreshing but that type of perfume is what zhigang will use if he's out doing raids and stuff but if he's going on a meeting or something more professional he would go more of a musky and woody scent! liu zhigang might also have more knowledge than an average person when it comes to perfumes and scents so if you catch him unexpectedly rambling about scents you know why.

LIU ZHIGANG / SHY!READER

at first, you might be taken a back by liu zhigang's boisterous behavior. sure it's different from andres thomas' loud personality but it doesn't change the fact it made you wanna crawl back into your shell when you first met him. it would take maybe one or two meetings with him before zhigang noticed your uneasiness whenever you're confronted by crowds or too many people at the same time. this is where he would tone down his loud persona into a more comfortable one so you would be more at ease whenever you're with him.

depending on your reasons why you're shy or struggle with talking with people, zhigang encourages you to break out of your shell and helps you with talking with people. he has more experience with socializing and doesn't really care for the opinions of other people, hell he has the chinese government at his beck and call you really think he would care of other people's opinions? crazy if you think you do. you honestly look up to him for this but you're usually there to humble him if he gets way too out of hand to the point it might harm him in the long run. anyway if you're the type to want to talk with people but you get way too nervous to interact, zhigang is there to help you with progress. though his way of guiding you to becoming more sociable is probably questionable to other people but you thank him nonetheless.

but if you're the type to just not... wanna talk to anyone at all then zhigang is perfectly okay with that. he probably prefers it that way so that no one will be there to snatch you away from him haha... anyway zhigang would gladly spend the days with you just snoozing away in your shared apartment or going around the streets and him doing all the talking while you listen to his ramblings and occasional complaints.

zhigang probably sees your shy personality as something endearing to him. oh? you can't find the courage to walk up to an employee in a restaurant to ask for service water? well you definitely need someone like him to be there to do that for you then! he would sometimes use these reasons against you if you ever try to do something stupid against him so watch out...

if you get overwhelmed in a crowd or situation, zhigang is there for you. he's there to soothe your anxiety with the simple motion of rubbing his thumb over your hand or placing his warm hand at your back and motioning circles to ease your nervousness. if you can't really stand to stay in the place then he'll escort you out, ignoring his assistant's or the person that's in charge of him to not do anything brash or stupid and guide you outside to somewhere more calming and peaceful.

heeeugghh i hope this err... helps 😓 i kinda sprinkled some lovesickness there but it's nothing too much but i couldn't really think much about zhigang because i was lowkeyyyy scared of overdoing it but anyway hope this is good enough for u <3

when someone is stupid enough to make you uncomfortable by stepping over your boundaries to the point of making you overwhelmed and on the verge of having a breakdown, a simple glareglance from zhigang that's been standing right behind you is more than enough to make the perpetuator back away. if looks could kill, that person would've been dead and cremated by the looks of zhigang. you often don't realize this because whenever you looked behind you, you only catch him sweetly smiling at you and placing a tender kiss on your forehead before guiding you outside (again dismissing the fussy assistant that's repeatedly telling him he can't simply leave the party because it's an important gathering).

So this is more of my random thoughts than anything but liu zhigang with an aloof reader

I just find the idea of him consistently trying to get a reaction out of someone who just does not care(reader does care, they just show it in their own way)

It would be very entertaining if his significant other hated other people except for a couple exceptions and he has to do all of the socializing. And the reader just hates other people just because they can, if they see an area with too many people they are booking it out of there.

LIU ZHIGANG/INTROVERTED!READER

i think the concept of being introverted is now horribly diluted that whenever people bring it up, the first thing that comes to mind is someone who's shy or struggles with talking to people but theh they want to talk to people! i mean, that's what liu zhigang initially thought until he met you.

his whole opinion on introverts was completely turned upside down when he learned your reason why you don't talk to people.

"i just don't want to"

this baffled zhigang at first. i mean?? you explaining to him calmly that you don't have the energy to talk with people that doesn't seem worth talking to or you just wanna stay alone is such a bewildering mindset to him. he was used to talking with people and loved riling them up, feeds his ego zhigang says (you rolled your eyes at this). your whole existence completely shattered his image of introverted people and made him realized that maybe he's lowkey stupid for thinking that introverted people are shy beings that wants to socialize but at the same time doesn't want to because they have no idea how to..? like a shy bunny which embarrassed him that he thought of it that way...

liu zhigang feels a bit prideful over the fact that you choose to talk and spend time with him despite telling him that you dislike talking with people. does this mean you see him worthy enough to talk to? well that gives a rise to his ego. though he sometimes think that you have a bit of a high horse, you think that you're better than him huh? you quickly shut that idea down when he tried to brought it up with a swift smack. reactions like these is the reason why zhigang loved riling you up

liu zhigang is the one who deals with people whenever you're actually required to attend gatherings or parties. you used to attend parties alone when you are forced to be there but now you have a +1 you don't have to open your mouth. you appreciate that zhigang carries the whole conversation and understands you don't wanna contribute to the conversation at all, often catching you blanking out. whenever people tries to drag or include you into the topic you just simply look over to zhigang and the memo immediately clicks in his head then he takes over the topic again.

sometimes, zhigang finds it funny whenever you two are in public and you recognize a stranger. the way you squeeze his hand a bit tighter is just so... its really endearing to him but then you just suddenly drag him out of the area with a turn adds the comedic factor i guess. he notices you do this alot whenever you notice something is gonna bother you in the future or accurately, in a few moments, soo you just eliminate the problem by removing yourself from the situation. zhigang included.

despite your introverted nature, liu zhigang enjoys spending time with you. it feels more personal and he likes it more since its an one on one experience (his words). he feels a bit happy that only him will see these covered sides of you that you don't share with people on a day to day basis. zhigang admires that you don't need the approval of other people or the opinions of others since... well you don't even care to talk with them or bother socializing, he likes that.
