I think the part I hate more about the HOFAS bonus chapter was actually the morning after. Ignoring IC finding out and the argument/execution talk, I despise that even though a decision had been made and it was supposed to be put to rest. The minute Rhys is away from Feyre he starts taking a go at Nesta because he knows no one else is going to stop him. I hate that Nesta is now magically bound to a court with a man who hates her and her only protection is her younger sister (who is a mother, a high lady and it quite frankly shouldn't be her job).
I despise that this is the first outside look we get into Nesta's life in the NC.... genuinely wtf

more and more i become of the opinion my dogs are not reactive to strange dogs but in fact it is unreasonable to expect them to NOT be reactive when the dogs we pass are unwalked, understimulated rural hellions that thrash at the windows of their houses, bark at us and follow us for entire lengths of properties, snarl at us, run at us with tense body language etc.
is this because a neighbor (who does skijor!) moved in half mile down the road from us a half a year ago with the most polite, unreactive dog that my dogs glance calmly at as they walk by? as it is unrestrained (no underground fence) on the property? absolutely is.
is this because a few years ago a neighbor's very nice pitbull mix got out and when it walked up to us with polite calm body language my dogs reacted just as calm and we were able to walk this dog home? absolutely is.
like i am a human woman and have lived in areas with much larger populations than i do now. i remember being followed by strangers, yelled at by strangers in aggressive ways. it made me tense and yes...reactive in those moments to ensure my own safety and needs were met. but was it my fault for having to react that way? To call friends and family and be on the phone any time that i walked alone? to check in when i got to where i was going? to bring pepper spray and iron knuckles to walk less than 10 minutes away from home? I don't think it is. Rather it's the failure that allows that behavior towards me which is at fault. i should not have had to carry those things with me. or call a single soul.
same with my dogs. my dogs aren't reactive, i'm just the only person who walks my damn dogs in my rural neighborhood. even though we can walk for 4+ miles either way on safe dirt roads out of our driveway before we reach pavement. nobody else. walks. their. fucking. dogs. yes i manage my dogs behaviors, it can be embarrassing when they get riled up, but know what? it is not their fault so many other dogs fucking SUCK. and it is not those dogs' fault that they suck either. i encountered more politely behaved dogs when i lived in the suburbs and city than i do now because those dogs at least had some sort of experience with being around other dogs (passing them on the sidewalk even) out of necessity. Rural people truly just throw their dogs outside and expect that to be enough. if you're lucky they install a little underground fence that will maybe keep fido in the yard (like uwu WE don't want to have a look at a fence and we're going to make all our neighbors GUESS if our dog might run into the road at them uwu).

i feel like, in 2000s/early-2010s era Hacker News, everyone would've regarded the "pronatalist" weirdos with obvious disdain and hostility, because for all their faults, the website's entitled-west-coast-libertarian vanguard had a very good and correctly-tuned hairpin-trigger reaction to anything with the faintest whiff of "impingement on individual liberty"
and now it feels like i can't go one damn day on that site without a whole flurry of earnest discussion to the tune of How Can We Make Our Women More Barefoot And More Pregnant, where everyone's casually tossing around shit like "maybe women shouldn't go to college until their 30s" or "maybe we should restrict access to birth control" as though those aren't the most insanely fucked ideas ever

Last night Israel cut off all the communications on Gaza before bombing it for hours on end, with no means for Palestinians to document or share the atrocities committed against them. The death toll has risen to more than 7000 people and more than 3000 children killed. Please don't stop talking about this, please be a voice for Palestinians who are forced to be silent.

alright you’ve been extremely extremely kind and indulgent to me about my oc and i cannot possibly thank you enough <333333 so MY turn now to ask YOU about YOURS. please tell me about maglor’s distant granddaughter who is also your bbeg?? .w. or about the chatty hobbits i would very VERY much love to hear about both!!!
~ @nelyoslegalteam, reporting from main <3
(long post, sorry for the random people stumbling upon this lol)
so I'm the dm for the chatty hobbits campaign and essentially it's set in a beleriand-adjacent continent, but with a few extra races and stuff. of the founders of the original settlements, the king of elende (the elf kingdom) is Gil-galad's (invented for the campaign) twin brother Finellach/Finwain. originally he was inspired by the fact that gil galad has a ton of names but only uses ereinion/gil, so I just invented a new character and gave him half the names. I headcanon gil galad as maglor's son, so finwain is in universe maglor's son (left at the havens with gil bc his wife divorced him for kinslaying and his kingdom, being next door neighbors with morgoth, is far too dangerous for small children).
Anyways, his descendant Elinyel (also known as aramire or elinnor) is the current queen of Elende! she's an evil fire-themed bard who is extremely feanorian in all the worst ways - her actual kingdom prospered under her reign, but she just does not care about everyone else as long as she's protecting her people. There were some tensions with one of the major kingdoms to the north (conflict over unclaimed territory between the kingdoms and some tariff stuff), so instead of risking the other kingdom starting a war and hurting her people, she just preemptively invaded it and started burned all the border territories to the ground.
her actual coronation was pretty weird- so she's the second child, but her older sister was born in wartime and there's a general belief in elende that children of peacetime make better rulers, so Elinyel was chosen as her family's heir. her grandfather (the crown prince of his generation) died defending Elende in one of the major wars, but his younger brother and two young kids survived. there's a whole feud between their houses because the brother chose to retain the kingship even after the kids were old enough to take the throne. anyways, two generations later Elinyel killed her cousin Arendil (the previous king of Elende) over a dispute about the legitimacy of his house (and what she believed to be a dishonoring of her grandparents' sacrifice) and took the throne.
obviously she has many Issues. arendil also has two surviving kids who are now essentially trying to stop her from murdering all their neighbors in proactive defense of her people.
however, when she first ascended she recruited her friend group as her elite guard/vassals of the kingdom. (aka the other bosses in the storyline). so it escalated to a war between her forces and the children of arendil, which ultimately culminated in her beloved sister being killed by one of arendil's children. this in turn led to her having basically a massive mental breakdown and feeling like she failed to protect her loved ones (exacerbated by some of her other friends being killed in battles she led). a normal person might decide this is was kind of her fault for starting a war and putting her friends in charge of the army. instead she decided she needed to destroy everyone who could ever potentially pose a threat. which is, in her eyes, literally everyone on the continent (except for her kingdom, of course).
so now she is at war with absolutely everyone of all factions! She is also somehow winning by virtue of Song almost on the level of maglor himself, and ten (now six) also incredibly powerful friends. Anyways, she has decided that the best way to wipe out the continent (except her kingdom) and start fresh is to literally find an ancient lost stone that can break the Doors of Night, summon Morgoth himself, and start the Dagorath. obviously this will Not go well for anyone at all if she succeeds, but she is on a full-on rampage and genuinely believes she (plus friends) can protect her kingdom from Morgoth's army while he wipes out everyone else.
Here's some old art of her btw!
And some slightly more recent unfinished art of her and the Evil Friend Group from when they were younger:
and here's (L-R) her cousin who is the 3rd boss, Elinyel, and her sister from before the war!

hydrangeas (the name of my demon slayer fic!) snippet upon ye... since chapter 1 is like, insanely long, i can afford to give you guys a big snippet teehee. @soleillunne
“Onee-chan! Onii-chan, look!” the brighter of the twins, Muichiro, exclaimed as he ran up to them, stumbling cutely to a stop before thrusting his arm outwards and up towards them. In it, a little flower was clasped. “It’s for you!”
Amusedly trailing behind the boy were both parents and his slightly older brother, whose hand was held only somewhat securely in his mother’s. They waved with a bright smile at their parents before turning their attention back to their brother and kneeling down. “Aw,” they cooed. “Thank you Mui. That’s really sweet.”
“Yuichiro has one too, but he’s too shy to give it to you,” the boy commented as he gently, gingerly placed the flower behind their ear.
“Oh?” they replied, a teasing lilt in their voice as they curiously shifted their gaze from the youngest twin to the eldest. Yuichiro puffed out his slightly flushed cheeks with childish irritation that they had to actively restrain themselves from cooing at. “Is that so?”
“Don’t say that, Muichiro,” Yuichiro huffed, shaking his hand free of his mother’s grip and reluctantly shuffling over to them. “Here,” he murmured, tucking his flower behind their other ear.
They stared. Yuichiro knew instantly that he was in trouble. ‘Trouble,’ of course, meaning nothing serious–only that they were going to relentlessly tease him until the event became overshadowed by other tease-worthy occurrences.
“You know, that’s cute,” they teased, hands reaching out and gently patting each of their heads, “you guys are the cutest.”

i have some very nice, full-length, in my opinion not-super-femme skirts that i usually wear in the summer mostly for comfort reasons, though i haven't worn any of them this year at all because of being unusually gender exhausted
but today i was like fuck it. it's very hot out. i'm just running errands. cis people probably won't even talk to me
so of course the very first thing that happens is a woman in the store says "MISS? oh i'm sorry, is that your pronoun?" :') & i go "sure, whatever" (miss/misses/missself) & wave it off because again, exhausted, & she then proceeds to pitch me her entire female empowerment scented candle business plan & ask what i think of it like i'm a one-person lady focus group
& this is not even a one-off kind of thing. i am so glaringly GNC that when i do wear anything even remotely feminine-coded it's like there's suddenly a flashing neon sign above my head saying "GIVE ME SOME REINFORCEMENT, CAN'T YOU SEE I'M TRYING!?"
like...my day-to-day look is so unnoticeable, people go "oh another ugly dyke" & their eyes just slide right off me, and then i put on a skirt & women are falling over each other to tell me how brave i am for shaving my head or how they want to make sure their she-candles speak to my unusual but valid goddess spirit

I wish there was someway to have like...contextual tag blocking. Because there are people not tagging their TSAMS posts, but if I block post content Earth, I lose out on space related posts and other fandom posts, and if I block post content Eclipse, I will also lose out on more space content and also canon Eclipse content.
Idk, maybe I need to unfollow some folks and try to follow fellow DCA fans that don't follow/like TSAMS, but that's hard to comb through at this point. Feels like most of the DCA niche adores TSAMS.

Main Character...? Tsukishima x Reader
a small slip up
143 words
reader is gender neutral
warning(s): none
.
.
.
You and Tsukishima had just finished your first date and were walking home together. You two were pining for each other for what felt like forever. But Tsukishima finally asked you out one day,
“I knew you liked me, Kei~” You teased.
“What do you mean you knew I liked you?” he laughed. “I treated you the same as everyone.
“I’m the main character, everything turns out right for me.”
“Right, right. So you think you’re the main character?” he scoffed.
You both stood in front of your house.
“I am the main character.” You protested.
“No, you’re not.” he retorted, looking down at you.
“Yeah huh! This is an x reader story. I’m the main character.”
“A wha-”
“Nothin’! See ya! Thanks for walking me home!” You ran into your house and slammed the door behind you.
“...That was close.” you sighed.

Extract from an interview with Jobal Naberrie.
Sometime post-Endor.
….
Interviewer: And why do you think your daughter was so drawn to Skywalker, Mrs Naberrie?
Naberrie: She never… she didn’t get much of a childhood, you see. Or an adolescence. She was thrust into adulthood very quickly, and for all I have been so, overwhelmingly, proud of her… I’m her mother at the end of the day. Sometimes all I wanted for Padme was a bit of normalcy. Anakin provided that, I think.
She didn’t get much attention either, you see- or, she got a lot of attention- people have always wanted to know her, and be around her, ever since she was little- but not because of her, so much as what she represented or what she could give them. But Skywalker, he… he wanted her. Padme. That was it.
And he- he was sweet, really. Drowned her in affection and attention, worshipped the ground she walked on. Let her unwind, be free. And she leapt at it. It was the first of its kind she’d ever received. A teenage love. Infatuation.
But, in truth I hadn’t expected it to last so long. I thought it would be good for Padme, to be shown she was worthy of love and attention simply for being her. Have a bit of fun and then move on, find somewhere more like her, someone kinder. But she didn’t…
Interviewer: You seem… unhappy, with that.
Naberrie: [pause] …He wasn’t kind, you see… He could be quite cruel sometimes. Demanding. Anakin would hold her to a standard he didn’t keep himself, or he would be dismissive of her feelings. Things I hadn’t expected her to tolerate in a relationship. And… just strange sometimes, too.
Interviewer: Strange?
Naberrie: I’m not too sure how to explain it. Only that, she’d mention things to me, off-hand. About his views- on politics, the galaxy, on how a relationship should be. Views so different from her own. He seemed to me quite childish, selfish…
But then, Padme was often unkind too. Selfish. I- I can admit that, I feel. I should admit it. It was a failing of mine, to not protect her better from the responsibilities she was levied.
Interviewer: Her responsibilities made her selfish and unkind, you feel?
Naberrie: Yes. It was something she took from being Queen, I always felt. And then senator, so suddenly afterwards. She had so little that was only hers, and when she did- she could be so possessive over it. Protecting her peace- as they say- even if it came at a cost, even if it was unfair on those around her. Only as Queen, or as a senator, that peace was Naboo- the safety and security of her planet, and that kind of responsibility changes someone. The cost of protecting Naboo becomes compromising your own personal values and beliefs. It is making sacrifices for the good of the many. And thus having to realign the way you see things, frequently, in order to reconcile yourself to those sacrifices. And that bled into her personal life. Of course it would, for anyone.
Skywalker brought her a sense of security. He loved her, truly- and in a way, helped returned her adolescence to her. And she clung to that. Refused to divulge it, even if it meant staying with a man who could be cruel. Even if it meant subverting, adapting, abandoning her own beliefs to suit his, or to reconcile herself with the relationship.
She was happy. Anakin made her happy. I would never refute that. But I think she would have been happier, with someone else.
I think she would be alive, too.
