About a month ago I started making a Totoro plush for @edorbs 's daughter. Originally it was going to be crocheted, but a sewn version would be a little more durable and time efficient. @sewdesune has some great free patterns on her website, including a Totoro. (She also has some great paid ones on her etsy page, check them out!) After a little mathematical magic, I doubled the size of the pattern, and got to work. Most of the materials used were all leftover from other projects, including the foam I used to reinforce the ears. He's about 20" tall! #memademay May 12. I love fun workout clothes, that I can also wear to relax! I drafted the pattern for these cute joggers based off of an old pair I'd purchased at VS's Pink about 5 years ago. I added pockets (because pockets are important!), changed the elastic cuff to just a wide cuff without elastic, and I made the rise about an inch higher. I tested them out with an online barre class...I really miss the gym. #memademay May 26. Have you ever taken a trip and made a skirt while you were there because you needed clothes? I did! I bought this remnant of animal printed scuba fabric while in Clearwater, Florida working on a mural. I hadn't brought a lot of clothes on the trip, so this piece of fabric and some elastic became a self drafted pencil skirt. One the folks at the practice facility let me use her sewing machine. There you have it, the last minute addition to my wardrobe. I'm pretty sure I wore it with a black men's undershirt that day because I got paint on the one I brought. (The top I'm wearing here is from Express, it was super cheap, and it was a "buy while on vacation" item.) #memademay May 16. (Yes, yesterday) l Lesson of the day, tights and boots make your short dresses seem longer. I made this dress in the late fall, to wear with boots and tights, maybe a chiffon ruffle on the bottome, or some lace leggings will fix the shortness problem. Simplicity 8216, made from a modified chevron printed, textured challis. This was super easy to make. I really like the fluttery sleeves. #memademay May 14. I had to go into a studio for work today, so I had an actual reason to wear non gym or lounge clothes. (Don't worry, I was socially distancing, and I was the only person in the building) Tailored pants are not my favorite item to make, but I gave it anothet try anyway. This pattern is from the Mimi G Style line for Simplicity, it's #s8749. I had to make a few alterations, like take the legs in a bunch. If I don them again, I'll also make the rise about 1 1/2" shorter. Pros though, they can be casual or dressy. I managed to match all the plaids, except at the waistband...which you can't really match without piecing.
