Woman who falls in forbidden love with a handsome man across the river, has three kids with him, and has the children’s paternity be applied to a completely different man to ensure the innocent kids wouldn’t be called slurs by their entire close-knit town? Who eventually has to make their kids take a difficult journey to their father’s house in dangerous conditions? And both I’ve seen framed as bad for their choice, but in completely different ways? Hell yeah.
Been lurking and reading Warrior Cat blogs again, like bonefall, and got whiplashed by the fact that we got two whole women in nearly the same situation except one is exiled because the leader of her entire town was pissed that she lied about the paternity of her babies (making said babies leave during a hellacious storm with their mother) and the other didn’t want a prophesied evil asshole to become leader and she couldn’t stop him with kids (making the choice to bring her babies out into a hellacious winter to their father).
Eweweg. There are enough parallels it’s a little crazy, because it’s definitely unintentional by the writers. And, no, I’m not saying Mapleshade and Bluefur are alike in character, because they’re really not. It’s just that they both had Forbidden Kids™ at Political Times™ with their Main Enemy™, lied about who their husbands were, and were forced to bring their children to their fathers because of The Prophecy™, ending in tragedy. And yet it was still different.
I’m not necessarily justifying or demonizing either of the characters (I don’t even read these books anymore, lmfao), I’m just saying it’s fascinating for what really, really seems like something unintentional.

First Mention: Into the Wild (Chapter 11; page 137)
“It’ll be fantastic,” Graypaw replied confidently. “I bet all the great warriors will be there. Clawface, Stonefur…”

learned about DB Cooper when I was like 8 from my little brother's 'weird but true' books and OBVIOUSLY i immediately made it into a game so. here's how you 'play' DB Cooper, by 8-year-old me.
go to a hill. you and your friends can call the hill whatever you want-- fort knox, the white house, the louvre, somewhere where they keep things of value. you run up the hill and, once you reach the top, start running around and grabbing anything you can find of value and shoving it into a 'bag' (the bag is just you holding your hand up like you're hoisting open the mouth of a large sack and making shoving motions with your other hand).
you call back and forth with your friends, talking about what you're putting in the bag (for some reason, me and my brother always landed on famous statues, art pieces, and ridiculously large pieces of gold (i.e. 'i'm stealing a 14-million ton piece of gold!)) and about how you need to leave soon because the police will be arriving soon.
finally, one of your other friends (who has been waiting at the bottom of the hill) starts running up as fast as they can, making police siren noises. you and your friend at the top of the hill then have to run out of the 'building' (aka, running around at the top of the hill as if running through hallways and out of doors) and then sprint down the other side of the hill as fast as possible. you can also roll down the hill, or jump down and then start running-- point is, you're getting down, FAST.
once you get to the bottom, you throw all of your findings into a big 'vault' (once again, you pantomime opening a large vault and throwing in the equally fake 'bags') and then YOU guys become the police, counting to whatever # you decide on (twenty? thirty?) to let the people at the top of the hill steal stuff. sometimes they can pretend that you guys left a bag behind and start raiding that for themselves.
does it follow the actual story of DB Cooper? absolutely not. will it be fun for older kids to play? also probably not. was it fun back then? ABSOLUTELY. there was also an alternate version where you stole stuff at the bottom of the hill, then ran to the top and pretended you were 'helicoptering away' from the scene of the crime.
but yeah. my childhood game. what a classic.

Moon 266-Newleaf
Creekstar (120) has known Vaxxstreak (152) for many moons.  They even have kits together.  For a while now, Creekstar has felt romantic interest growing between them, and now, she’s finally decided to act on it.  She confesses and the two become mates.  Creekstar is also glad to see that her mate is still good with kits.  Vaxxstreak checks in to make sure Hollykit (5) is alright and helps Stonekit (5) pick burrs out of his fur.  Downgaze (47) and Spotfoot (47) have no problems with it.  They’ve always known Vaxxstreak is their dad so it makes no difference for them that he and their mom are now officially together.  In other news, Treepaw (6) is now an apprentice with Greenrapid (22) as her mentor.  Hopefully Greenrapid’s childish nature will help Treepaw find her place in the Clan.  She’s a little lonesome.  She’s also trying to bat at her non-existent tail, which Hatchpaw (11) thinks is cute. Creekstar also worries that Greenrapid has been oddly quiet lately and hopes that having an apprentice will restore her good cheer.  Having a new mate himself and knowing the Clan’s history with mated cats, Downgaze asks Brightmouse (41) how she dealt with losing Shinebreak.  They have a nice long conversation and come out of it feeling like they understand each other better. On the other paw, Spotfoot is not a fan of Brightmouse and feels like she should do more useful things, like monitoring the camp’s temperature better.  The cavern is cold in the mornings.  Can’t she heat it up?  Bluestripe (41) takes a moment of downtime and basks in the sun with Skipneedle (41).  It’s nice that the fearsome foursome are still tight.  Meanwhile, Archdapple (41) isn’t getting along as well with Hatchpaw as she is with Hyacinthpaw (11). She tries to have a conversation with Hatchpaw, but it quickly peters out after neither of them speak up.  At least Whorlpaw (11) also likes her and promises to always look out for her.  Lakepelt (74) is impressed with the dedication Whorlpaw has shown with relearning how to hunt and fight with only one good ear.  She’s a hard-worker.  Hatchpaw and Treepaw are really enjoying being apprentices together.  Treepaw even gives her a twoleg trinket she finds.  Rootwing (33) seems to have realized that he’s not a great mediator and is doubting his decision to become one.  Rubbleheart (62) and Brightmouse go on a patrol together and get in a cold standoff with TulipClan.  Their alliance may be weakening.
Medicine den: Downgaze (broken bone), Greenrapid (broken bone), Primcrest (cracked pads)
