ok nobody asked but these r my stranger things unpopular opinions, inspired by a tweet where people just shared super common and well accepted opinions instead of actual controversy lol

also half of these r gonna be ronance centered because they’re literally all i think about

- first and foremost, nancy is a lesbian. i think so many of her actions and struggles can absolutely be traced back to comphet and repression and i feel like people want to cling onto her romance with steve and jonathan as a way to justify her fondness for them, when i think she can just care about them because they’re her friends and they’re trauma bonded(tm)

- while i like steve and robin being besties as much as everyone else i feel like people overestimate how close they really are in canon. of course they’re best friends but they really aren’t overly dependent on each other like people interpret them to be. they’re best friends but they also function really well on their own.

- though there’s no denying that will has feelings for mike i sincerely doubt that those romantic feelings are reciprocated and i think people are way too confident that byler is gonna be canon

- elmax is miles better than almost every canon AND fanon relationship in the show (i’d argue jopper and lumax (and biased opinion ronance) are the only genuine contenders)

- while i make a habit of being overly critical of men i think people forget that the “grumpy dad” trope with hopper that they like so much comes with him being a total dick sometimes lol

- both jonathan AND steve were weird as fuck in season 1. y’all r having a mid-off when u argue jancy vs. stancy

- and by mid-off i mean stancy wasn’t as bad as y’all act like it was and jancy is not as good as y’all act like it is

- y’all infantilize the FUCK out of robin buckley and im SICK OF IT!! she’s incredibly smart and strong and u people act like she’s stupid/a pushover/a nervous little baby

- in general i think the ronance fandom likes to apply tropes to nancy and robin in a way that isn’t accurate to their characters. its a very common and predictable pattern and i think thats why a lot of fan works feel out of character (an example to this is people applying grumpy x sunshine to nancy and robin respectively and it just doesn’t fit)

- karen is not a good mother. i think everyone can agree karen is weird as fuck for the billy thing, but i see a lot of people argue for karen that she’s really grown as a mother but i’m not seeing it. i don’t doubt that she loves her kids but there’s a reason mike and nancy are Like That

- y’all made up a ton of steve’s personality traits. i’m all good with interpreting his character a certain way but if the reason you hate nancy wheeler is because she unknowingly poked at insecurity of steve’s that u made up i have 0 respect for ur opinions lol

- and on that note steve is pretty badly written. i don’t think his path to “redemption” was bad but he’s so far from anything special that the love he gets from the fandom astounds me

- luckily this opinion isnt as unpopular anymore but steddie was figment of fandom imagination and the fact that it rotted y’all’s brains so bad to the point where you convinced yourself eddie munson was actually really important is just so...

- if you make fruity four content without nancy because you don’t think she’s interesting enough you’re a loser

- byclair is literally SOOOO much better than byler the fact that y’all aren’t going to war for them is upsetting

- this better not be an unpopular opinion but ive been seeing more of it recently: if you think joyce byers is a bad mother block me rn

- any hate that eleven, max, and nancy get is almost ALWAYS rooted in misogyny

Oh and for the record I’m going to put all my useless theories here from now on because i fucking predicted Lewis leaving and I’m so pissed because i have zero proof

So here are some theories for the 2024 season:

Redbull will win the constructors and Max will win the drivers championship (thats not even really a prediction at this point) but i think its going to be much closer fight, yes redbull will continue to dominate but not nearly as much as they have.

I think Ferrari will be second because 1 Leclerc is loyal but he is not stupid (despite what the memes may tell you) he knows he has potential and so do the other teams and if hes committed to ferrari that means the car has to good, at least good enough to possibly be able to challenge the redbull car and 2 lewis fucking Hamilton think the car is good enough THIS YEAR to leave 11 years of history at Mercedes in possibly the biggest driver switch in the history of f1 and sure it could be for the money or the fact that they are willing to make him an ambassador or because everyone is a ferrari fan but he has proven that he is still willing to go for that 8th championship and i don’t think he would switch if he didn’t see something in that car

Mercedes and McLaren are going to battle for third and i do not know who will end up on top. Some people think mclaren will be a championship contender this year but i don’t think so in a few years yes norris is good and reliable and piastry is really good like its unbelievable that this was his rookie year and I’m very sure he will be a champion someday. Norris and piastri also seem to have really good solid team work and thats kind of underrated rn

I think Williams are going to be good this year and probably rb (i refuse to call them anything beyond that) if sargent can get his shit together then Williams have two strong drivers and as of right now tsunoda kind of needs to prove himself if he wants to stay in the game and well riccardo is riccardo you cant get rid of him.

Some more specific things im betting on a Leclerc win this year idk when but it will happen and im putting my money on norris getting his first win as well and one last win for alonso before he announces his retirement (not necessarily for next year but i think it will be announced soon ish) i also think redbull will get one dnf or disqualification or something like that at some point

So I've heard that June 8th is Demisexual Pride Day... I mean, I'm not 100% sure, but even if I'm wrong it's still Pride Month, so the art still counts lol.

It's been less than a year since I've become certain I'm demi—not having been in any relationship before didn't make it easy to distinguish demi from plain ace. This particular label means a lot to me, to be fair, and you wouldn't believe how much angst it has put to rest. Finally I know what I am, and no, I'm in no way defective.

Finding out I'm demi didn't come too long after my ASD diagnosis, so the notion of being "defective", or at least not quite right, was still very much ingrained in me at that time. Don't get me wrong though, I would have been just as relieved if I turned out to be ace. The most important part of this isn't the label itself, but the fact I can confidently apply it on myself—if that makes sense.

To me, personally, the label is immensely liberating. It means that I can love, and more important still, that I can be loved... even though, I know, this is not what orientation is supposed to mean. Everyone should be loved, no matter what they are—but well, I used to suffer from chronic loneliness and still have to battle low self-confidence, so the association makes sense to me.

It might be worth to note that I'm also demiromantic, although romantic attraction is a lot less significant to me. After all, for the longest time I couldn't for the life of me understand what romance was... and friendship is criminally underrated, imo. My current relationship might still be friendship with benefits, for all I know. Who cares, I love my partner to the moon and back anyway. I'm not even ashamed of the cliché 😛

Based on the rivals post, do you think, there will be a time that one of the vr46 boys could ever end up ideologically/race craft or due to any other aspect of the sport opposite to Vale and have a strained relationship. Or just learning that not everything he says is right and true and you need to make your own stand one day.

YES!!!!!!!! i LOVE this ask bc i've had luca in mind for this trajectory for a while based on everything ive been digging up on him. cause he does nawt subscribe to the vale myth like others do precisely because he's his brother, like hes just his brother!!! and he seems to have a healthy conception of his brother as a person. they get along really well! luca credits vale specifically with a lot of his analytical habits and staying in the garage longer than necessary and all that. but luca is very, very much his own person with his own values that hes good at asserting (which is clear if u listen to even one interview of him imo) one case in point is how marc's mentioned he has a good relationship with luca and that they keep things separate. and so, like luca has his own principles and is becoming his own person in a way that is genuinely grating with the academy imo (bezzs comment after the honda move annoucement about how lucas been distancing himself/not around as much (i dont think this was shade just a factual statement.)) and so my personal pick is luca. but its luca in a healthy way without a big fallout yknow. and in a way he's the only one who's really able to do that bc of that family connection. he Can move away from it all bc he'll forever have the security that he'll still be connected.

BUT NOW LETS GET JUICY........ i think theres definitely certain career trajectories for both bezz and pecco that could introduce bitterness into it all. yes theyre so close theyre all brothers they grew up together but that just lays even more fertile ground for certain feelings of inadequacy, jealousy, anger, envy, yadda yadda (this is also something luca has talked about and how they genuinely have had to put in effort to work through these things!) i think pecco is a very petty person and a person whos not very strong in ways that matter interpersonally, i actually find it a miracle they all get along as well as they do based on their traits lfdmkdfkl sorry pecco im getting off topic im sure ur parents love you.

but back to the vale of it all i think in the case of bezz i think hed need to continue flopping for the rest of his career never getting a world championship hes been promised by everyone around him since he was young (which! i think is possible! i dont know if passing that seat up last year fucked him forever in terms of being a world championship contender! time will tell) which makes him turn bitter and alienated from everyone including vale. i think this would be sooo delicious if he just gets disillusioned. alienated. lonely. thatd be absolute hell for bezz.

I think it was Miyazaki or something from Studio Ghibli that said, the presence of two people of different genders in a story don't always have to mean they're romantically involved, or sumn like that i know I'm paraphrasing by a Lot

I was watching Suzume today and yes her bond with Souta is adorable. They bonded with each other thru their journey and there's nothing like it when it's life and death but

The thing I've noticed with both Your Name and Suzume is there's barely any scenes or time for them together to show us that they actually have bonded romantically; Weathering With You on the other hand had plenty of that ig, since the two kids spent a lot of more time together

On the one hand it's funny because the kids in Weathering With You are younger than the characters in the other two movies, but them developing feelings romantically makes more sense

But on the other hand, it feels like it's a little forced for the other couple esp in Your Name; when could they've possibly developed feelings for each other when they've never met, and spoken only thru the limited time they had in each other's bodies? Did they develop feelings because ayyy it's a quirky situation so they've only got each other that understood each other?

Don't get me wrong, I gobble up the romance no matter what. I'm a sucker for that, it's cute and it doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense, because ig Makoto Shinkai's stories always rely on two people developing feelings when they've been thru the same weird 😆 circumstances--because they depend on each other and see each other a lot and they're very much thrown together to get thru it yada yada

It's just....i wish that the plot makes more space for us audience to believe it, rather than being like, hey ofc they love each other now !!!

Altho as a caveat, I'm not sure if Souta feels the same way for Suzume at the end, I love that Suzume didn't spell out her feelings for him because she's younger and a minor and she's probably shy about it but it's implied that she's become an important person to Souta. Girls get crushes all the time too; having a hot chair guy with a hot voice and hero tendencies is bound to be attractive lol i love Souta, he's s strong contender against movie! Howl hehe

I just wish Taki and Mitsuha's bond is written more like Chihiro and Haku since it wasn't as believable for me that they're romantic. Yes some of us would love it if Chihiro returns to the spirit world when she's older and they get together romantically, but the way it ended in the movie, we know that they had a special bond with each other even if it wasn't romantic; true love doesn't always have to mean it's romantic after all

3-ep standings: winter 2024

now that everything i'm watching has had at least three episodes out... it's looking like a pretty solid season! time for some rough rankings (minus sequels and continuations from last season)

will be interested in seeing how these change by the end of the season, because there have already been since big moves since first impressions lol

ANIME OF THE SEASON CONTENDERS BUCCHIGIRI?! easily leading the pack rn, it's dumb as hell but it's my favorite flavor of dumb; dunmesh and majo to yajuu both still very much in the running though

GOOD himesama goumon no jikan desu, cherry magic, metallic rouge, yubisaki to renren

NOT BAD sengoku youko, akuyakulv99 — nothing to really complain about with these, but they're not the most special/compelling things either

TECHNICALLY NOT BAD BUT BRO WHAT HAPPENED ishura and pi-chan — both of these had such strong first episodes to me, but fell off very hard and very quickly; still not technically bad or anything, but imo just not nearly as interesting as they could have been

RIDICULOUS (AFFECTIONATE) gekkan mousou kagaku gets its own category bc i can't in good conscience say it's good, but it is absurd and silly in a way i enjoy; it doesn't fill the boueibu void but alas nothing does

DISQUALIFIED my asnm bias is too strong for me to be even remotely objective about warumono-san lmao so it too gets its own category. i lov u warumono-san (but it's at LEAST very good if not straight up aots... ok the bias is showing now)
