halsin is a druid. he's meant to survive in the woods. you need body fat for that.

karlach is a fucking barbarian who is constantly chowing down on whatever she can get her hands on and has a super high strength. she would have a powerlifter's body type!!! FUNCTIONAL MUSCLE. do you think she has time to focus on building vanity muscle while being a soldier for zariel's armies? absolutely not. the only plausible explanation for her having any semblance of abs is that maybe her engine heart is greatly increasing her metabolism but even then i think it's a coward's answer

if you haven’t answered this already- not rlly an art ask but how do you make such great character designs? they’re all so cool what gigabrained magic are you using…

color palettes and motifs - go ham on them!!! it's easier for me because i tend to use very limited color palettes on character designs, but they make or break a design in my eyes so experiment with them (esp based on the emotive/personality associations with different colors). and also motifs - for me the best are the most visual, like certain foods, items relating to the character, or recognisable shapes (such as crescents and stars). study other designs with the same motif and cram as much of it into the design as you can (or as much as you'd like the character's "symbol" to be obvious) !

it's really frustrating that if my friend draws his monk with like extreme cut chiseled abs and I draw my fighter built like a rugby prop people will think I'm the one doing unrealistic fanciful stylization or wish fulfillment

UR RIGHT BC if u paid attention, dazai is more on the slim side. he gets more lean as he grows but that's abt it — he's still scrawny and probably has a mild hunchback due to his physical needs not being met/neglected when he was younger. since bones bonified EVERYONE, non manga readers may not notice how each characters body types vary/are different lmfaooo😭😭 but my point stands if u read the manga!! dazai is SLIM/LEAN, not MUSCULAR like chuuya

at the same time they both look twink in the main manga. I think it has mostly to do with the art style bc they have varying body characteristics in gaiden, beast and the main manga (we also have to account for how the LIGHT NOVELS describe them as well)

or we can just say that all the supposed muscular characters got that sleeper build since their muscles aren't visible until they show it

Something I’ve noticed recently is that I feel great about my body unless I’m in situation where I have to wear “normal” clothes. I feel great and feel like I look good, even, in gym clothes, sweats, even naked - but the second I have to put regular clothes on I feel so self conscious and uncomfortable. Every time we have an event at Ender’s school and I see how casual yet cute and put together the other moms look and here I am in gym clothes or sweats, I feel bad about myself.

It has occurred to me that maybe I just don’t know how to dress my body anymore. I guess I’m still trying to wear shorts and baggy jeans and cropped shirts like teens and 20-somethings, and I’m 36. But at the same time, age is just a number, and I am in good shape. But I’m short (5’2”) and have a very athletic build - big shoulders, traps, lats, thighs, short legs. So things just don’t look quite right on me. I can do AE jeans and pants bc they make extra short sizes, but skinny jeans don’t look right on me anymore. I like the 90 style baggy jeans and can usually find those at AE, but then I feel like I need a more fitted top. But everything is either cropped or a bodysuit anymore.

I actually LOVE bodysuits, but can’t wear them on or around my period due to discomfort, and I lose at least a week each month due to my period, so that’s limited.

I don’t know - where so you guys shop? I like AE for pants and lululemon and fleo for leggings and AE and A&F for bodysuits, but where do you get things like sweaters that aren’t baggy (I love the oversized sweater look with leggings but the sweaters never fit right bc of big shoulders and small torso) and more fitted plain tops that aren’t cropped? Target has been my go to for stuff like that in the past, but their clothing has been so bad the last few years!
