Jotaro and reader are coworkers, and they had a celebration party for the success of an experiment with the department and all.

Now, here, jotaro is divorced and has a share custody with his ex wife about jolyne.. And the reader, a newcomer whos maybe 2-3 years younger (male), somehow piqued his interest. Maybe how the reader talks to him in a gentle caring voice, how he would comfort him if he notices jotaro upset more than usual, or always being by his side. Regardless he was needy and head over heels over reader, despite his stoic disinterested, and rude manner towards him. Yet you still stayed with him.

And during this party. Jotaro drank a bit too much alcohol, and got a bit drunk...which is unusual. Jotaro doesn't get drunk easily but the alcohol is quite strong. His brows furrowed and unshed little tears beside his eyes with a blush on his face. How cute.

“Hey..you okay?”

You smiled, about to respond to him before a couple of your other coworkers burst through the door. All triumphant as they jumped around and laughed together. You immediately rose to your feet, confused on what was happening. Jotaro rose as well and you both went over to them.

“What’s going on?”

You asked. One of your coworkers responded to you with a smile.

“It worked! The experiment was a success!”

The rest of your coworkers continued to jump around and celebrate with each other as you and Jotaro were visibly surprised.

“We’re celebrating at the bar down the street, cmon!”

One of them said before they all hurried out of the room and began leaving the office. You got visibly excited as you turned to Jotaro.

“Did you hear that? We get to party!”

Jotaro saw your excitement as he too was excited as well, though it didn’t show on his face. He smiled at your happy face, almost getting lost in just staring at you since he admired how you looked when you were happy. You didn’t wait for his response before you started pulling him out of the office and down to the bar. Once you two got in, you and Jotaro went to sit at the bar. You both ordered some drinks, just chatting about how exciting the new advancement for the department was and other small things. It wasn’t long before Jotaro was wasted, he only had 2 drinks but the alcohol was rather strong. You however, had hardly finished your first glass so you were still pretty sober. You laugh at Jotaro’s drunk state, it was funny how he couldn’t even form a coherent sentence as his words slurred together. You stopped laughing as you watched Jotaro lean forward and grab at your shirt, looking up at you with half-lidded eyes.

is it a good idea to get into jojo

Honestly, I can't think of any piece of media that's necessarily "bad" to get into unless it's, like, actively harmful, or if it's media that's just awful from top to bottom (which even then is a very high threshold to pass imo). So my default answer to that question with anything is gonna be "yeah sure".

That said, a couple notes for you to keep in mind if you so desire if you do want to get into Jojo (and apologies if this is A Lot, I am just Rambly™)

-There will be people who tell you to start at Part 3. These people are cowards. They recommend this because the overall structure of combat changes drastically at Part 3 to the whole "Stand" thing while Parts 1 and 2 is a lot more freeform, but 1 and 2 are really good if you want to get a feel for the tone. So if you finish Part 1 and 2 and you can vibe with the overall tone, then you'll like the rest, because after that, the fights get REALLY good (shoutouts to D'Arby)

-The show is very ridiculous, over-the-top, and campy. The sooner you decide to lean into it, the better.

-There are a couple kinda hashtag Yikes things in Part 2 and 3 (you'll know em when you see em, especially for P2). It's not enough that it's outright awful, but it's more of a "Part 3 was written in 1989" kinda thing.

-If you like rock music, you'll appreciate the show a heck of a lot more (I mean, the main antagonist is literally named "DIO" with prominent side characters "R.E.O. Speedwagon" and a family named after Led Zeppelin)

-Try to watch it subbed if you can. Nothing against the dub's voice cast since they do great, (especially from Part 3 onward, although Joseph Joestar in Part 2 LITERALLY just being Numbah 1 is very funny to listen to), but as I mentioned in the last bullet point, there's a lot of references to licensed music, and to circumvent that, the dubs (and most subtitles), have to resort to localized names. This can lead to a lot of funny hijinks (for example: hearing "STICKYYYYY FINGERS!!!!!" and seeing the subtitle "ZIPPER MAN!"). Also, the Japanese voice cast is iconic, especially for Jotaro and DIO. Also also "O H T H A T S A B A S E B A L L", "Go ahead! Mistah Joesturr", half of Joseph's dialogue, and many many more.

-Part 4 is the best part

-Don't skip the openings. Especially when you get near the end of each part. There are fun little surprises :)

my favorite female character - there's a lot of good female characters in JoJo's ngl. I'll have to go with Jolyne tho. I love her

my favorite male character - Mista. He's so dumb and I love him 🥰 (Anasui is a second fav)

my favorite book/season/etc - I have to go with Stone Ocean. I love all the characters and I thought the ending was so bittersweet and so good. I binge watched it (as much as I could with Netflix's weird decision with episodes dropping) and immediately had to rewatch the whole anime because it's so good.

my favorite episode (if its a tv show) - probably the last episode of Stone Ocean. Having the OP change and showing all the previously JoJo's and then the ED being Roundabout was such a beautiful way to end it (and the best send off for this universe). I 100% got emotional 😅

my favorite cast member - So I watched in sub and when I learned that Mista's seiyuu is also Kaeya's (from genshin impact), I think my brain short circuited cause the amount of simping I've done for both is scary.

That said, I fucking love Takehiko Koyasu (Dio). But I also know Matthew Mercer is Jotaro's English VA. And Billy Kametz is Josuke (Rest in Peace)

There's just so many amazing and talented VA's/seiyuus on the cast that it feels wrong to choose a favorite.

my favorite ship - There's so many good ones but I have to go with Bruno/Abbacchio. I just love these two so much.

a character I’d die defending - Doppio. He's just a baby and didn't ask for Diavolo's bitch ass to show up. Tbh, I'd defend Fugo too. The guy is what, 16/17 years old. Yeah, he joined a gang, but he knew Diavolo was bad news (and with everything that did happen in the show, he was right to stay out of it). Also, I haven't finished SBR, but so far I'd happily defend Diego.

a character I just can’t sympathize with - Rohan. I know so many people love him, but god I want to punch him in his stupid face. I just don't understand all the love for him (he has beef with a high schooler and some weird friendship?? with another)

a character I grew to love - Jotaro definitely. I was not a fan of him in Part 3 (I wanted to punch him, Joseph should've for calling Holy a bitch) but then Part 4 happened and yeah, I like him.

my anti otp - besides the obv ships, I guess I'll go with FF being shipped (romantically) with any of the others. I like them being aromantic and just a good friend/sibling figure to the others!

I've taken a liking to her design. Her color scheme goes together well, her hair has a lot of character and I do like the rose emblem on her outfit.

Her stand, Love Deluxe, plays the prehensile hair trope straight, other than her ability to control her hair even when it is not attached to her scalp. I like the name but I find this type of stand boring to be honest.

I'm not really interested in Yukako as a character, unless she gets something more later on. The funniest thing they can do is pair her and Koichi together. "Me and my girl don't argue, she tells me to shup up and I do" and such.

Josuke and Okuyasu were nice this episode. We learn that Crazy Diamond can't bring back anything The Hand deletes. Just goes to show how opposite their powers are.

Koichi is not really my cup of tea. I appreciate him being part of the group but solo episodes with him don't really interest me. Plus his voice is incredibly grating in both sub and dub. It's interesting that he set up that rock so that Yukako wouldn't die, you gotta be really confident that you'll win if you are worrying about the safety of your opponent.

Hey, Koichi with the new hair kinda looks like... No I shan't say it.

Let's talk about Echoes. My boy. My lil man. Look at his lil smile :) My favourite stand from part 4 so far. It seems to emote on its own sometimes, like Star Platinum who smiles every time it gets a chance to beat someone up. I like it when stands emote on their own. The fanworks do this a lot but jjba itself rarely does it. Which is a shame.

Ep. 10

This is just 20 minutes of Okuyasu having nice things happen to him and I think that's just great. If I had so say my one gripe (and be a killjoy), it would be that it doesn't tell us much about Okuyasu and Josuke that we don't already know. The best thing about filler is that it gives us characterization and I don't think this episode has enough of that.

Okuyasu and Josuke fighting reminded me of the Death 13 episode except Polnareff was infinitely more stubborn

Also this is a great time to just give the VAs the biggest shout out cuz wow I love them. Especially Okuyasu I love the way he says Josuke. It brings me joy. They are perfect fits for the characters they are playing. I can hear Tonio's accent but I know fuck all about Japanese so It might be horrible, not my problem tho.

Ep 11 - 12

I think Tomoko is one of my favourite female Jojo characters so far. The bar is on the ground, but, you know. Take what you can get.

I don't get why they added that scene with Josuke at the start. It doesn't really add anything.

I think the funniest thing in episode 11 is Koichi and Okuyasu just going through it and the Jojos not giving a shit. I hate the Joestars so much it's unreal. It did struck me as a bit weird. It's not at all weird for Jotaro (Have you seen the stardust crusaders? They told Polnareff they lied about Avdol's death to him and then they had the audacity to go "I didn't think you'd be this hurt"), It does feel a bit off for Josuke though.

Jotaro smiling as he says Jospeh could die is amazing. Of course he would.

I didn't think about what Red Hor Chili Pepper's stand user would look like but I am definitely not dissapointed in Akira. Personality wise he is insanely boring but I do like his design.

Okuyasu looking at his own hand as he thanks Koichi was a nice touch.

I like how they handled Joseph. Obviously Josuke is not gonna be amazed to see him but It wouldn't go with his personality if he was antagonistic either.

Ep 13

I don't like how different the japanese VA of Joseph sounds when he is yelling. English VA doesn't have this issue but it's also was the weakest of the sdc cast imo. No winning with this one.

Ep 14 - 15

The first episode is just set up. It does that job pretty well though. Really makes Rohan seem insane. I mean, he *is*.

Rohan relating everything to art and writing isn't even that off from how most artists think tbh. Writers will see a documentary about the most disturbing shit they have ever seen and they will go "That will make my writing about this part more accurate".

And Rohan'a advice is actually pretty good. Like, draw with references. Draw from reality. Base your characters on people who you know, instead of like, just taking from your favourite artisans. Anyways,

Rohan's stand is called the Heaven's Door. Firstly, It's a really cute stand. Secondly, this thing is busted. It'd be one thing if looking at a draft was the only way for it to work but touching you with his stand also works. And he can knock someone unconcious when unfurling them. Add on that the insane speed he has for no reason and honestly we should just be glad this guy isn't a villain. He is just weird and offputting.

I fucking love episode 15. The pay off is amazing. I love that Okuyasu and Josuke notice something small like a cut on his hand and immediately help him. I love that Rohan opens Josuke's eyes by insulting his hair. And then he just. keeps. going.

Josuke being literary so blinded by rage that he doesn't see the draft? Amazing. He absolutely destroyed that place. And threw a fucking chair at Okuyasu and Koichi. This show is pretty funny when it wants to be.

The story of his hair was really sweet. The guy helping them seems to be a student like the current day Josuke too.

Ep 16

The art style for this episode looks different from normal and I have no idea why. The style is ussually pretty consistent. You can see the gums in their teeth it's strange.

Jotaro gets a slight outfit change. I like the colors and the tilted belts. I'm not sure on the new jacket. I liked that they used the collar of his shirt to give the same vibe as his part 3 outfit insead of just giving him a jacket exactly like his old one. His new jacket is a bit dissapointing. I like dolphins. I'm not sure what they were trying to do with the triangle and the sun. Overall, I like the older one just a bit more. I would love it if he kept changing outfits like this tho.

It's something that Jotaro can't seem to seperate Star Platinum's time stop ability from Dio. Like, that's Star Platinum's power.

As funny as seeing Jotaro get his ass beat by a Twitch looking ass rat is, It's also shows what I like about stands. I know Jotaro is holding back here, but that doesn't change the fact that this is a bad machup for him. So you don't need to nerf him in ordert to create conflict. Stands are good against combatting power creep, is what I'm saying.

Love Crazy Diamond popping up out of nowhere just to look sad. Don't look at me with them big ol' eyes.

I think one thing part 4 is good at is the character dynamics. Rohan and Koichi was fun to watch. Rohan grinning at Koichi getting flustered was great. Reimi being really friendly with Rohan cuz she knew him when he was a kid is a nice bit of writing.

I made a joke post about where Kak went after death, a few people mentioned how ghosts were real and he could be like Reimi. Now I know what they are talking about.

Reimi has a nice design. Especially the choker with the hands holding on it. Speaking of hands

I know I shouldn't be laughing at the guy whose only trait so far is that he kills young girls to date their hands to satisfy his stupid fetish or something but

what even is that music. Why did they make it like that.

To close this off, I am currently on vacation with little internet access. It's a rural area so there isn't much to do. I've been spending my time writing these, slowly. Gonna take a hot minute to finish this part.

I've been also wondering if I should watch Stone Ocean before Golden Wind and get the Jotaro story over with. I'll decide that later, I dunno.

Diamond is Unbreakable: Episode 1 Review

A solid beginning to the fourth part.

One of the most interesting things about Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is its commitment to genuine fresh starts at the beginning of every new part. Phantom Blood was a gothic horror story about vampires and family betrayal, Battle Tendency was a classic Hero’s Journey to defeat an ancient evil, Stardust Crusaders was a “bro-trip” around the world in fifty days, and Diamond is Unbreakable is a “hangout film” set in the town of Morioh with a bunch of dorky highschoolers.

These stories couldn’t be more different, and yet they’re bound together by a commitment to the absurd, the ridiculous, and the bizarre that pervades every scene. There’s not a single fight in this series that doesn’t have the tension cranked up to eleven the whole way through, and every weird, potentially off-putting moment is balanced out by the series’ constant assertion that everything happening is par for the course within the world.

Case in point, the first episode of Diamond is Unbreakable introduces us to Josuke Higashikata, a superpowered high school freshmen who gets violent if you insult his hair. Not only is this character normal for the series, he’s actually the protagonist of this part, and in the first scene we see him in he goes from a demure turtle-wrangler to a badass cloaked in shadow, all at this tiny provocation.

That’s not all there is to Josuke of course; as Jotaro Kujo, the protagonist from Stardust Crusaders, talks to him he shows an incredible amount of humility regarding his position as a lovechild bringing grief to the Joestars, and he also displays some cleverness in his fight with robber at the convenience store, using his Stand’s restorative abilities to punch through a woman safely and embed the robber’s knife into his stomach.1

The rest of the episode is focused on introducing us to Josuke’s family and the town of Morioh. His grandfather is a kind elderly cop who loves his daughter, a fiery-tempered badass whose rage clearly impacted her son. They unfortunately are also given the duty of providing exposition for Josuke, explaining who he is in ways we’ve already seen, which doesn’t make for a particularly engaging conversation.

Morioh is also introduced in fairly broad strokes as a peaceful town with a sinister secret, with one aspect of its underbelly being made clear with the introduction of a deranged criminal. This introduction pales in comparison to the opening scene of the episode, which sets a far more insidious tone by making us watch as a severed woman’s hand makes breakfast to a cheery song on the local radio. It’s a hell of an opener, and it’s guaranteed to set the tone for the rest of Part 4.

Stray Observations

1It’s also worth noting that Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure takes a lot of cues from the horror genre, especially body horror, and I’ll be damned if it isn’t effective.

So, I’m not actually the biggest fan of subs because of how literal the translations tend to be, and that was pretty readily apparent in this episode (I watched it on CrunchyRoll; it’s totally possible that there’s a fansub out there that’s stronger). Honestly, the only reason I tend to watch subs more often is because of how weak dubs’ voice acting tends to be, even though they tend to have more figurative and colorful (and thus better) translations (which I imagine arises from a need for actors to actually read the English version of their lines).

Josuke is probably my second favorite Jojo, though I’ve yet to finish Stone Ocean, which might change my mind.

My favorite Jojos in order: Joseph, Josuke, Jolyne, Giorno, Jonathan, Jotaro.

My favorite parts in order: Battle Tendency, Diamond is Unbreakable, Phantom Blood, Vento Aureo, Stardust Crusaders. I’m not ranking Stone Ocean until I’m finished with it.

Just a random JoJo question: Do you have any hot takes regarding JoJo? Like, anything that is connected to JoJo. For me is that the dub is surprisingly good.

I watched a bunch of clips of it for a while and I was surprised that it was pretty good (minus the localized stand names, but some of them were from previous games) I enjoyed it, there were so many good voices. Obviously not as good as sub, but it was still pretty well done. Like Ben Diskin killed as Joseph and Matt Mercer as Jotaro too. And the legendary Patrick Seitz as Dio 👌 My friend prefers sub but even her favourite dub voices were Dio and Jotaro. Part 4, 5, and 6 had great dub too as far as I searched it.

Part 4 has Wesker from the Resdent Evil as Kira, and dub Josuke and Okuyasu? They were perfect for me.

I find the part 5 insults (especially Mista's insults) and random Italian words in it hilarious. And I know I'm a coward, but dub Diavolo scared me 🫣 And that Abbacchio's dub voice actor is such a big JoJo fan, that he has a spin off project too? (his channel's name is ricepirate)

And for Stone Ocean we have Kira as Jolyne and she nails it like the queen she is.

second, I find it funny that you say that the dub being good is a hot take because I actually only usually watch dubs for anime just because it's my dream to become a dub voice actor!! like literally it's my dream to voice yasuho in part 8 of JoJo shdhsjfbsb like how cool would that be lol

I really love the dub and think the actors are great!! the sub is obviously fantastic, but I do love the sun with my entire heart and soul

now for my hot take

I don't like Doppio and Diavolo that much, least favorite villain. and part 5 is my least favorite part of jojo. it's not like it's bad, just my least favorite part. I guess the story didn't stick with me like I wanted it to. I really love Bruno and abbacchio and mista but for some reason I just really don't like part 5 lol

and some people disagree with me on this, but some don't so idk if this is a hot take. part 6 is my favorite part and I love the ending. I love the fact that emporio is the one that beats pucci and that everyone pretty much dies in the end, it's really cool and brought us part 7 so I'm not mad lol

I mean, you weren’t in danger of drinking yourself into oblivion from the plot points in those days. 3) “Don’t worry, I’m sure he’s about to dedicate his heart”- He’ll dedicate his Fist, for he has learned how to punch with his heart! 4) “MOTHERFUCKER, DIDN’T YOU DO THAT ALREADY? IT LOOKED PRETTY FLATTENED TO ME”- Not flattened enough, if Koichi could stumble around the sub-basement like that. 5) “Oh no, the humanity, what will be of koichi now that he found out he can fucking use his quirk around his body like captain celebrity and thus be invulnerable to any damage~”- And that he’s learned how to punch like a cannon, putting him on a level above his master’s traditional beatdowns with a single blow? 6) “OHHHHHHHHHH

NICE ONE THERE. NOW THIS LOOKS PROPERLY SICK”- Wicked sick, even. Time for Koichi to showcase some crazy, now he’s negating all the rules of touch. (Vigilantes ch 6)

7) “What I mean is, Koichi is going to win against knuckleduster in a fist fight, mark my words.”-Welp, at the very least, his Knuckle style packs more of an enhanced wallop than his master’s, given he cracked that wall like an egg. The actual holes he can punch in walls needed the true way of the fist to realise their true potential.

Oh boy, something magical is about to take place after all.”- Nope, Now we’re seeing the real magic. Ultra-instinct fists are go!

There’s literally nothing more that McBee can do to threaten Koichi now, because the boy has no limitations on his quirk, and he is invulnerable to physical damage- well, more invulnerable than usual that is.”- That’s not even counting the fact that Nomura’s self-destructing from his own power-up whilst Koichi’s will allow him to win even if he doesn’t land a hit anymore.

Yeeeeesh when I first started playing whib I was so obsessed. I basically sped ran chapter four because my kings were high level. Bloodshed Beel carried my team ngl. So what I’ve noticed esp with games like whib, obey me, etc is that the story ( for me ) gets old REALLy quickly so I gravitate towards events or just like,, skip all the story parts and get to the battles. jjba thursday: part 4 ep 4-6

this week was a little better than last week. I still get so stressed an anxious about everything every day all the time but im starting to get into a rhythm. I like having something to look forward too-- I even made popcorn! yay!
