To kick it all off, the Dead Mountain team are extremely excited and honored to announce the incredibly talented Mx. Morgan has joined the project to produce our cover art! Mx. Morgan G Robles (they/them) is a freelance artist and illustrator based in Seattle, Washington. Their work is best known for its use of macabre themes, animals, and nature. They use these themes to explore mental illness, gender identity, or simply to make neat skulls.

yeah, sorry, but if you split hairs about what 'counts' as cp on ao3, i would urge you to remember that there are people who write an alarming amount of rpf about real-life children, especially child actors who already deal with experiencing a lack of agency outside of their control, and that there are fics which have images embedded in them, and yeah actually it is fucking weird how quick people are to defend the eroticized act of child molestation. your stupid fanfic-writing ass is not publishing the next lolita, a novel which, if you'll fucking recall (if any of you have even bothered to read it in the goddamn first place) pretty clearly frames humbert humbert as a bad guy who is hurting dolores.

the stuff people are defending is not just "dark subjectmatter" it's fucking erotica. you are not the next nobokav. it's literary porn. it is made for the express purpose of being erotic and arousing and sexy. the idea that you deserve to have the 'right' to write erotic material about literal children, fictional or real, and post it online 'without judgement' is fucking insane. people react. if you have an issue with those reactions, maybe you should be keeping this shit to yourself.

and it's abundantly clear that you don't know what actual censorship is. no one is physically fucking stopping you from exercizing your stupid free speech rights to post your pedo garbage online. most of us who hate ao3 already post our fics elsewhere, often in addition to ao3 due to it being the only place for fanfic to receive better exposure. so can you stop acting like people who take issue with the distribution of pedophilic erotica are on some kind of 'horrible moral crusade'? can you stop fucking comparing justifiably concerned csa survivors to anita goddamn bryant and other literal bigots...?

some updates on my discord server cos some shit went down recently and some of it is my own fault

will be no more shitposts in the announcements channel, that gets annoying for other server members and i’ve had a few ppl reach out to me about this. announcements will only be used for either relevant things, such as (fictional or real) birthdays or important things (like the tumblr blackout)

no more lowkey nsfw. it became an issue as a result of me and some friends taking sex jokes way too far, i take accountability for this because i also contributed to it. me and the other moderators are going to begin cracking down a bit more on nsfw in the future. sex jokes and educational discussions are allowed, but will be treated with more nuance depending on the subjectmatter and who is taking part in the jokes or discussions.

im changing the rules around slur usage due to the fact that the rules i laid down do not align with my or many other server members personal opinions on slurs. now, server members may use slurs, but only about themselves, and are not exempt from criticism if they misuse the slur in a way that could be seen as more harmful than reclaiming.

i am working on adding a channel meant for anonymous suggestions about things in the server. this is going to take a bit as i am still fiddling with bots and channel settings, but when i figure it out, people will be able to submit anonymous suggestions or concerns to me. this will just make it less scary for server members to bring up personal concerns with various things in the server.

O melhor da poesia pra mim é brincar. Recortei um pedaço da folha vermelha de dentro de uma pequena publicação, e apareceu um trecho de texto da página seguinte. Num olhar surpreso consegui captar só algumas palavras. Corri pra sublinha-las e decidi cobrir o resto, para tentar entender porque que o olho se prendeu somente a essas. Li várias vezes em voz alta, de diversas maneiras, ritmos, respirações e, no início modifiquei umas letras que ao recitar eu acaba pronunciando sem conseguir domar meu portunhol. No fim, surgiu algo em portunhol, pois a palavra "trânsito" eu li em "transito" e ao decidir colar uma folha na outra achei nos meus recortes aleatórios a palavra "Travesia" mais portunhol, colei. Ri alto, pois eu estava de convalescença com um pé quase quebrado, de bota ortopédica sem poder fazer caminhadas, fiquei assim por dias, até o natal (qualquer dia que vocé tiver que se abster de algo até o natal parece muito tempo, tempo demais). Hoje finalizando coisas que tinha abandonado quis saber o que faria com este trecho que tinha ficado dentro desta revistinha e quis fazer algum collage encima, não tive coragem. Acabei esmagando o emaranhado de papel, pois já havia começado um pequeno recorte. Larguei na folha ao lado. Ao voltar da cozinha leio em alto e bom som estradas. Como única sobrevivente do meu esmagar descoraçonado - Sem número. Not very familiar with punpun, could you elaborate on what you said that nobody should watch it? /gen (my apologies if you've already stated why before >_<)

oyasumi punpun is a manga that follows the main character, punpun, throughout various stages of his life. hes depicted as this little bird thing but thats sort of a visual metaphor that represents his headspace and it changes with the story

the subject matter of the story itself is dark and nihilistic. it delves deep into the types depravity humans are capable of, and the trauma they inflict on each other. hell is other people etc etc. there are hardly any characters that arent scumbags or downright abusers, including punpun himself. except for shimi. shimi did nothing wrong ever in his life (hes still very fucked up in the head though). sex and suicide are probably the two most pervasive themes, both things punpun (the guy) is incredibly fucked up about.

i do think its a story that comes from a genuine place of rumination from inio asano, the depictions of a lot of its subject matter dont strike me as bad faith but are still beyond harrowing- which im sure is intentional. i have criticisms of some of it, sure, but its a lot to get into on a purely emotional level. i had to take a shower after i finished it just to sit with my thoughts, and i dont think its possible to fully sort it all out.

its genuinely not a story i would ever recommend to anyone in good faith, the same way i cant really recommend something like lolita. you have to be in a very specific headspace to gleam a valuable message from it, otherwise the nihilistic nature as well as INCREDIBLY triggering subjectmatter (no tw list will help here) will just hit you like a bus. its the kind of thing that can, and probably has, sent people spiraling. i really cannot overstate this enough that im not recommending this series because i seriously dont want anyone to take my words lightly and check it out as a "shock value" read, especially when the story itself is the type that asks for deeper analysis. and even if thats your forte it can be difficult to think clearly while reading it.

NEW Werewolf Template!

Dead Mountain is a chronicle that pulls narrative and mechanics from every edition of Werewolf: the Apocalypse put to print. When trying to select which format best represented my vision for this game I came to the realization that consistently throughout my tenure as a Storyteller, every edition held equal esteem at my table. The narratives between one edition and another were always coherent enough that I could grab an older module and the players wouldn't see a difference between that and something new. I see 5th edition, and I feel the exact same about it as I do the editions I currently utilize.

This is not your typical Werewolf: the Apocalypse setting. I couldn't pick a template that works for me best. While every edition had elements I loved in its design, their templates all were close to what I like, but even back when they were new felt 'off'. And so, I took it upon myself to make a new template. Make no mistake, this is not the new edition of Werewolf: the Apocalypse that's coming this August, but something of my own creation. I am also not in any way representing any official entities associated with Paradox, Renegade, Onyx Path, or White Wolf. This will be coming as a release on Storyteller's Vault this Halloween, and will be available marketed under the Werewolf: the Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition. With that said, let's take a peek!

First of all, the cover is a Black Dog template format for guides. I chose this for one because it gives me a lot of real estate for artwork, while also making space for my new 1st edition-inspired wood frame! This frame is free to anyone that wants to use it with credit; send me a PM!

This template's core design is inspired by the creation of spore prints; the result of placing a mushroom cap, or a piece of mushroom gill, onto a flat surface and protect it from air currents. The spores will gradually rain down from the fungus and deposit themselves onto the paper, leaving an imprint of itself forever. This message in the design is an echo of the location's fungal spirit, but also the enduring nature of Werewolf: the Apocalypse, something that cannot ever be truly destroyed in a way that matters.

if you've ever picked up an old water damaged photograph, or a piece of damp paper thats spent too long in a bag, you know what decomposing paper looks like. I wanted this series to have a feeling like it was constantly being slowly eaten at and reclaimed by nature, as though this book itself were something discovered in nature.

You may have noticed by now there are some small variances between the pages. The reason for this is simple: I'm not using traditional desktop publishing software. I am in fact producing this entire project on next to no budget, and am using the free software suite, Gnu Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) which astonishingly has it's own desktop publishing tools built-in. While the creation of this template and setting up all the margins and guides has been a punishingly intricate procedure, the template itself is extremely straightforward to use, and allows me an incredibly breadth of tools to personalize each and every page with little to no effort. This chronicle is an expression of love, both in it's subjectmatter and presentation.

A huge advantage of utilizing GIMP software is the implementation of layers, allowing me to create fixed templates with graphical masks that add texture and color temperature to all the images used, without having to do anything to alter the composition of the image itself! This means any monochrome artwork can instantly meld into the theme without having to compromise the integrity of the original!

This is the first time I've every attempted graphical design to this degree. While I did study some art and color theory in college, none of it touched a computer screen in the classroom. Producing this template as a first time go has been extremely fun and rewarding, and I think that it will carry over a ton of personality of the world for your enjoyment.
