{ as if .... it were the last time } subtlemob < found > 有時候你是置身世外的旁觀者 就像看電影一樣 有時候你是劇中的演員 但其實大部分時間你只是做回自己 在你身處的地方 下看看自己的雙腳 看清楚腳下這片大地 此時刻 你置身於此 並非孤單一人 繼續望著大地 現在 雖然你未能看清楚周遭所有人 但身旁圍繞著你的 都是朋友 跟陌生人 而這裡 就是台北 現在 慢慢地抬起頭 感受身邊周圍的一切 眼前的影像 眼前的街道 這裡的人們 你的左邊 你的右邊 這一刻你站在這裡 細細感受這一切 想像這一次 彷彿..... 就是最後一次..........

[ the prelude / excerpt ] only
with the Deluge bashing heartlessly among the vulnerable
with the warmth oozing from joining hands
the noise, the chill, the moist
immersed within senses,
the silence, the heat, the love
arisen from the core,
from the soul,
from the flimsiest yet the most sincere :)

// Subtlemobs usually happen in public spaces // Imagine walking through a film, but it’s happening on the streets you live in // This is music composed for those spaces // This is about trying to make films without cameras // It’s about integrating with a social or physical space, not taking it over // The audience listen on headphones, a mix of music, story and instructions // Sometimes they just watch, sometimes they perform scenes for each other // A subtlemob is not a flashmob try to remain invisible . . . [by] Duncan Speakman is a Bristol based artist who creates work that physically and emotionally engages audiences in public spaces. He employs walking as both a process and/or outcome in the work. In recent years he has created pre-recorded audio walks, generative GPS-based experiences, live performance using locative media content, and games for public spaces. Project examples: As if it were the last time Our Broken Voice

I want you to walk, but with confidence. As you do, smile at people who are standing still, as soon as someone smiles back at you, stop where you are, and stop your partner too... I want you to start walking, but quickly, at fast pace... Every time you notice someone look at you, change direction.
You could guess how long it took for me to change direction and how long it took for me to stop. This was my first 'real' experience at participative performance. The success of participative performances relies on clear instructions, thus clear objectives on the part of the maker. It plays upon the fundamental notion of character objectives in classic narrative but this time the objectives are live and the characters, real people. In a sense there was a double performance, the instructional mp3 served as a cinematic soundscape- definitely not a wasted use of media in performance.
