I had no idea I needed to hear Weird Al singing “This mellow-thighed chick just put my spine out of place,” but it turns out I did.

Song Review: David Bowie - “Suffragette City” (Live, July 3, 1973)
Culled from the final Ziggy Stardust show, the July 3, 1973, version of “Suffragette City” should be more exciting than it is.
But the performance is sloppy, the camera work is amateurish and, even with a digital facelift, the video quality is dark and shadowy and looks every bit of its 50 years of age. On the bright side, the audio quality is quite good.
Historically significant to be sure, the film clearly has issues if this lead clip is representative of the movie, making it something suited for only the hardest of the hard-core fan base.
It’s out to preview the July 3 theatrical premiere of “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars: The Motion Picture” and the forthcoming (Aug. 9) live album soundtrack and concert film.
Grade card: David Bowie - “Suffragette City” (Live - 7/3/73) - C-
