Hi! I just learned of the existence of SNK spoof, called “Sungeki no Kyojin”, Im fast I know, created by Isayama Hajime. Is this considered canon or is it just a parody? I’m confused 😅

Hi there,

As far as I know, it isn't canon, haha, but it does actually contain some important clues regarding specifically Eren's character and what motivates him, funny enough. There's a moment in one of the episodes in which Eren wakes up from his dream of a zombie apocalypse and he starts crying because he realizes how unsatisfied he is with a life in which there's no one for him to fight or struggle against, in which there's no chaos, essentially. It actually sheds a lot of light on Eren's character, on the fact that it's really not a result of his life circumstances that drove him to do what he did, but just more an inherent fault in his character, a need to destroy and struggle and pit himself against something or someone. His lack of freedom is a product of his mind. So it's good to read, even though the events of it have nothing to do with canon.

Love how the people behind Sungeki No Kyojin really felt like addressing the Oluo looks like an old man thing, is not like this is brought up anywhere else

Can’t Believe I Never Get This Edition of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from December 2014!

After reading a meta about how Isayama chooses the subtle route when writing romances, it made realize that in his gag mangas like Sungeki No Kyojin and Attack On Titan: Junior High he plays the obvious pairings (EreMika, LeviHan, Rivetra, etc.) as jokes whereas with RivaMika, he writes them more seriously.

I’ve always had the feeling that Isayama likes to play with the “””””””””canon”””””””””””couples, and especially with the shippers. I call him “unpredictable king” for a reason ;). Take Shasha as an example: her and Connie made a great couple to the eyes of the 88% of the readers/watchers, but in the end we discovered that she loved Niccolo. Remember that details are really important in AOT; Rivamika is a ship that maybe lacks in interactions compared to other couples like Eremika, but all the parallels, these details to which many don’t pay attention are there, and in my opinion, they’re even more important than interactions. Look where are the “””””””””canon”””””””””” couples now: Petra is dead, Hanji is dead, Eren never loved Mikasa. These are all little hints for me ;)
