there are layers to dennis saying "johnny doesn't love you. he doesn't even like you" right after mac says he's in love with johnny. this is dennis once again rejecting mac's love but also we know he's lying his ass off when he says this bc why would he say "he doesn't even like you"? we know dennis likes mac as a friend, they've been living together for over 20 years, they were sleeping in the same couch not long ago so in canon mac and dennis and mac are obviously FRIENDS. so if that part is a lie, the previous part of the sentence has to be a lie too. he's trying to distance himself from all his feelings for mac and rejecting his love once again bc it was getting too real. there was no place for him to run anymore since mac wanted to take things to the next level. and dennis can't fit in his head the idea of accepting love.

the last two times they shared a bed, Dennis was so uncomfortable. He chose to sleep on the floor next to the bike in DDL to avoid Mac. He was super tense and weird in TGGR. and now they’re choosing to share the inflatable bed together when they literally have other furniture and rooms available? Even with the wheezing he’s choosing to sleep next to Mac? (*Dennis in Gang Gets Analyzed voice* “the wheezes, the snores”) he’s checking Mac’s PULSE to make sure he’s still alive and TRICKING HIM INTO GOING TO THE HOSPITAL? They’re telling Charlie they have no room when there are TWO extra bedrooms? Mac guesses every possible problem Dennis could have with their sleeping situation and NONE of it is about sharing a bed?? I missed soft macden so much and Dennis is NOT going to take well to Johnny

tbh i thought the ending was in his dream too. the validation of being able to actually pull off a feat the doctor had never seen before. even scoring the can in the trashcan & how much emphasis that got. TOO perfect. tho the things that pissed him off are still present, just in the background. they prolly still DO piss him off. he just wants to envision himself rising above it

the phone call only started AFTER the doctor visit, when we're in his dream!!! why would the phone call actually happen here if it was real!!!

(08/07/2023 edit: i don't even think it matters if the end scene is real. he still has chronic high blood pressure regardless. if anything, this pyrrhic victory ass W has set him back, bcus instead of the doctor prescribing him the pills he needs, he'll be focusing on the medical marvel!!!)
