Now we have information on the switch2 I can say that I think the 3ds is probably the best Nintendo console of all time.

I am a huge super Nintendo nerd. Played it inside and out as a kid played nearly every title on it and it is my second favorite of all time console. Followed by the switch at 3rd.

Reasons why the 3ds is the best. It had both Nintendo titles and third party titles that didn't need to be edited to play on the console. (The SNES and switch has that too.)

It had nearly completely full backwards compatibility with ds titles. (SNES and switch had no backwards compatibility)

It sold SNES titles, it sold gba titles, it sold gb titles and all not at a full price and a lot of them with save states. (Switch gets points here for the online stuff)

It had a gimic that could be turned off. This is a big one. Wii's and wii'u's gimic could not be turned off and suffered for it. The 3d element wasn't mandatory to play on games and wasn't bad on some of them.

Street pass made community a part of ownership.

Remastered N64 and gamecube titles.

First time I could actually pocket a console and use it any time. (Even switch lite is big for that)

Had great titles that released at only 40$ a title. I cannot stress how much price of games got me to play the 3ds every day. I was also okay to buy Mario cart and anyone else could come along without owning it. Having full pokemon titles, having full fire emblem titles, donkey Kong, Mario, all of them 40$. And if 40$ was too expensive i could buy indie games for less.

Customizable background. (Switch wtf)

Customizable lobby music. (Switch wtf)

Netflix and browser. (Switch wtf) (Note the Wii and Wiiu had Internet stuff also)

In short. The versatility and the utility of the 3ds hasn't been emulated since. The backwards compatibility hasn't been as large since. The games were cheap. The community existed.

Nintendo I'm begging you give me a Super3ds. Its a better idea than switch 2
