PEOPLE the nicest people I met so far (left to right): happy - he’s working in Bali for 5 years as something like a guide/surfteacher and he’s looking after me since day one. We met at the beach and he showed me around Bali and made some really cool things possible like driving scooter which me by myself wouldn’t have done! catrine - we met because of simon this morning and it already feels like we know each other for years; so I would call us friends! She’s from Denmark and so nice and kind, she like gives me tips and cares for me, is really nice company and I’ll definetly want to enjoy more time together! Simon - we get in contact throughout the backpackr app and he’s a really nice guy, good to know someone from Germany! It’s my second day and I’m this lucky to say I have such cool people around me! <3 - 26th of April, meet new people •••

Die coolsten Leute die ich bis jetzt getroffen habe (von links nach rechts): Happy - er arbeitet seit 5 Jahren in Bali als surflehrer/ tourguide und wir verbringen Zeit zusammen seit Tag 1. Wir haben uns am Strand getroffen und er hat mir ein bisschen die Gegend gezeigt und hat ein paar sehr coole Dinge ermöglicht. Catrine - wir haben uns wegen Simon heute morgen getroffen und es fühlt sich bereits an als würden wir uns seit Jahren kennen, also würde ich uns Freunde nennen. Sie ist aus Dänemark und so lieb und nett, ich genieße ihre Gesellschaft und möchte definitiv mehr mit ihr zusammen reisen! Simon - wir haben uns schon vorher über die Backpackr app kennen gelernt und er ist ein sehr netter Kerl, es ist wirklich gut jemanden aus Deutschland zu kennen. Es ist erst mein zweiter Tag und ich bin so glücklich darüber meine Zeit mit so coolen Leuten zu teilen! :) - 26. April, neue Leute treffen

Beach town

Make it to some pretty beach town. Watch real waves with real surfers. A group of kids are climbing up an incredible unstable-looking lifeguard tower. I picture the whole thing just imploding on the children and saying “haha, i told you so in my thoughts”. Go to the bar, grab 2 pinchos, get some beers, charge my phone. Before they close I ask where to camp and they tell me to forget about the beach and set up next to some vans. On the way there a car stops, 2 guys jump out and take a leak and we start talking - they invite me for a beer and suddenly there we are with all the locals.

One of the 2 is working as a trucker and car dealer - he has just been to Germany and tells me about his older brother who was big on business and whores, but a great guy. Killed himself at 32 with an insulin overdose - on purpose. Sketchy. The other guy is a jockey, who is currently training horses in England for some Sultan, Sheik from the Middle East. Before he was doing horse races and surfteacher and extreme sports - “They have to be extreme!”.

Another guy buys everyone a shot and then comes over to tell us how great he is. Initially my 2 buddies agree...but the guy is just so insanely full of himself he won’t even let the others finish a sentence when they want to totally agree with him. I find him annoying and get a bit quiet. Instead of more shots I go to find a camping spot. When I hear the bulldozer flatten the beach in the morning, I really appreciate having hidden my tent in the park.
