hey you know what would be fun? a fic where the Royal Guard follows through with their plans to make Ichigo the new Soul King and Grimmjow promptly loses his shit because what the actual fuck Ichigo has already given these people literally everything, twice, and this is how they repay him? recruits Nel and Harribel and Urahara and Yoruichi (after Nel sits on him for a while because Jesus Christ Grimmjow you can’t storm Soul Society by yourself no matter how much you’ve powered up) and it’s the Ryoka Invasion all over again except with pissed off arrancar instead. I just think it would be neat

this is such a fantastic post about lycaons background with mockingbird and his agent story that I didn't want to derail but I do have my own ideas on what his experience with mockingbird might be and his vampire friends background
have you heard the tale of gamelyn? it goes roughly like this: a wealthy man's youngest son is left to the care of his wicked older brother that wants to cheat him out of his inheritance. The father is on his deathbed when he gets his youngest son and neighbors as witness to him dividing his lands up between his children before his death.
The neighbors leave, he dies, and gamelyn is at the mercy of his older brother. He grows up in his brother's hall, his share of their fathers lands held in trust by his brother as well. Except he's let his youngest brothers share of the land fall to ruin, he abuses gamelyn, they fight horribly over gamelyns ruined portion of the inheritance.
In the final scene of lycaon and the vampire we can infer the vampire is possibly wealthy himself at this point
Tumblr media
Ornate, large gold trimmed window, the presumably high ceilings of the office he stands in having carved woodwork, even his clothing suggests by this time lycaons former partner has done quite well for himself. That could be from funds they acquired through their mockingbird "work" or because he has a similar background to the story of gamelyn.
The vampire is incredibly theatric, we see him making young lycaon recite an oath in very flowery language and we see his influence on lycaon as an adult despite their estrangement, from his accent to his strict adherence to his role as a dutiful butler. Wealthy people love theatrics and dramatics, and if the vampire is a sort of gamelyn inspired figure, background wise, it would make sense he would found a "steal from the rich give to the poor" sort of criminal organization. And perhaps a younger lycaon simply wasn't aware of the depth of his friends entanglement with wealth and inheritance at that point, maybe meeting after the vampire had already been cast out by his wealthy family, his inheritance usurped.
He tells lycaon family is a curse and a burden, essentially. It would make sense for him to have that viewpoint if he is inspired by the story of gamelyn to some degree, being betrayed by his family for status/material wealth and it might make him resentful of the wealthy as a class, making them his prime target. And perhaps it was a sort of betrayal to lycaon, who believed the organization had more upstanding roots in a real desire to take from those who have an excess and give it to those who do not, if he found out about this part of his friend and how deeply that would have impacted the creation of their organization. Maybe lycaon became extremely disillusioned with it all, realizing it was not what it presented itself to be and was truly a tool for personal revenge.
The final nail in the coffin so to speak may have been whatever happened to cause the loss of his left eye and his legs at the knee. If he lost those in service to mockingbird, his friend that was maybe not entirely truthful about his real motivations, it could have been the final straw for lycaon. unable to remain as loyal as he promised when confronted with the fact that he had suffered substantial losses in service to someone who is ultimately selfish and self serving, not who he believed he was. due to how lycaon stresses loyalty in himself to a "master" I believe it would take an extremely serious event like that to trigger someone like him into making the choice to abandon the object of his loyalty.
but that's just my silly lil ramblings and it's just as possible im wrong about all that but it is fun to think about

Seven Sentence Sunday
Thank you for the tags @elodiah @lokimobius @thosegayoldmen @loki-is-my-kink-awakening and @kcscribbler!
Here I am, answering the call! With what? I don't even know. 🙈 The germ of an idea hit me the other day and my brain has been whirring like a decryption program trying to unlock the rest of it.
“Hey!”  Loki was startled out of his shock by Mobius’ shout. Barton had paused in his struggle, breathing heavily in the grip of the TVA agents, but his venomous stare never wavered from Loki. Mobius snapped his fingers at the Minutemen, who jerked to attention. “What are you waiting for? Get him down to Processing, now.” “Yes, sir!” C-9 squeaked and her team began to drag Barton away. He resumed struggling but was forced down the hallway, one halting step at a time. The last glimpse Loki had of Barton was his face in profile, fury and despair present in equal parts.
I feel like everyone has already been tagged (and this may not have broad appeal), so I'll do an open tag today! If you decide to share something, feel free to @ me so I see it. <3

Rael’s PoV in Rabbit Heart made me wonder about outsider POV of Syku. In-universe Jedi are probably ‘known’ as loveless celibates (given Padme's question to Anakin) so how would non-Jedi react to Syku in the Rabbit Heart universe (if they’re obvious enough)?
This is such a fun ask. :D So, for those of you not familiar with my fics, the Rabbit Heart universe is me playing with the idea that in the canon gap between Dooku getting knighted/taking Rael and Rael’s knighting, Dooku and Sifo-Dyas try an actual “Jedi” version of a relationship and what does that look like. Anyway, Come closer. No, closer. Let me tell you a secret.
Sifo-Dyas and Dooku are incredibly obnoxious together.
Obviously I adore them, I ship them, they’re my blorbos, I think that they have valorous, interesting qualities. But I really am taking two characters who canonically seem to be widely considered “annoying as shit” by OTHER JEDI, you know, those zen people who respect everybody, and I'm banging them together like Barbie dolls.
They’re conspirators in every sense of the word. Their togetherness is exclusionary by its very definition. They show off to each other at every opportunity. You get them in a room - even after a falling out and long separation at the end of Dooku: Jedi Lost - and they can’t stop making critical, sarcastic jokes at/to each other. Even at their most genuine and loving with each other, they couch it in insult. They amp each other up, compete, drag each other into shit that separately, they probably wouldn’t do. They both think they’re the main character. They’re both completely convinced of their own rightness.
And the way that Dooku even sees Sifo-Dyas. He talks a lot about him at the beginning of Dooku: Jedi Lost - and this is SITH Dooku, who KILLED Sifo-Dyas, not just the recordings of little boy Dooku describing his best friend in such loving detail that Asajj has to fast forward through his burbling. To Dooku, Sifo-Dyas is SPECIAL. Sifo-Dyas is DIFFERENT.  Dooku has this real “us versus them” manner of thinking about his relationships (that he fully transfers to his Padawans, by the way.) The chosen people Dooku cares about are the people Dooku has decided are worthy: mavericks, rulebreakers, exceptions, extra talented so they don’t have to play by the rules for regular normal losers - just like he thinks of himself. (I think this is actually funny because I truly believe in his heart of hearts, Dooku takes a great deal of stability and satisfaction from knowing the rules and playing the game exactly right. It’s part of why he looks so fucking shattered in that last scene. He was the Perfect Sith Apprentice Good Boy?!)
So yeah, I think people who encounter Dooku and Sifo-Dyas as a couple in this little spun-up world I’m playing in are going to be rightfully annoyed by them. Not because of the strangeness of a Jedi in an obvious partnership, but because Sifo-Dyas and Dooku are annoying as shit together even when (presumably) they’re NOT sleeping together.
I can’t imagine how much worse sex makes them.

if Zero ends up having similar powers to Suspect R, I guess the Researcher will end up having another Doppelganger (or a sort of subspecies?) who brings chaos at the camp lmao, can you imagine what will happen if both decide to team up-
the only difference is that Zero doesn't take 100% the form of others and you can recognize her more easily
-🧶
Actually, I have thought of making Zero a Cheshire Cat in my Monster AU, because appearance-wise, she does look kinda like a cat and seems mischievous enough to be like the one from the original Wonderland story 🤭
Ofc, we could also do the doppelgänger route but with a twist! If I am allowed to pull a MGE, I would like to come up with my own monster called a “Copycat” specifically for Zero! Copycats would be a cat-like monster species related to doppelgängers and other feline monsters, as they have cat-like characteristics but have the ability to shapeshift and copy appearances.
Since the MGE makes their own “monsters” all the time, why not pull a page from their book and make one of my own! I like the idea of Zero being either a Cheshire Cat or a Copycat, so rlly it’s up to you on what she is 😅

Weird question time again! Of the "does this happen to everyone or is this another case where what I thought was very common is not, in fact, common" variety Do you ever get a bruise/welt/hive* on the top of your head from wearing a headset/pair of headphones for too long? I have to wear a headset for work so I can be on the phone/in a meeting and still type, and today I had multiple meetings and was covering for another [my job title] so I was on the phone a lot more than normal and now my head hurts (not in a headache way lol) *I have too much hair to see which one it is, but it is ouch to the touch and raised like a welt or a hive?

Mortal Kombat 1 Behind the Scenes AU: (Over)protective brothers, p. 2 - Control your anger.
Author's Note: The best peak of having Lin Kuei brothers is that they are ready to murder for you. The worst part of having Lin Kuei brothers is that they are perfectly capable of murder and you never know if they joke about murdering someone or not. Which is why Tomas doesn't want to tell Kuai Liang and Bi-Han about his problems because there is a great chance that once he points out who is bullying him on the film set, the body of said person will never be found.
[Cage’s Mansion] [Waiting for Liu Kang] [Special Bonus] [Grandmaster’s commentary] [Climbing scene] [Madam Bo’s Inn] [Cage’s Mansion 2 (fire extinguisher)] [Medic] [Shang Tsung’s sad face] [Smoke’s Fall] [Scenography (1)] [Scenography (2)] [Show off!] [Favorite brother] [Climbing on the wall (nonsense)] [Tomas’ commentary] [Perfectly fine] [Sexy, sexy man~♪] [Brothers between filming - Scenography(3)] [Wrong team!] [Since when you two are friends?!] [I like being evil sorcerer more] [I forgot my line, sorry!] [Read the script Kuai!] [Get. Lost.] [Dating] [Permission] [Why date a punk like him…] [Panic (Mom is visiting)] [Decapitation then] [Deep in trouble (Mom is visiting #2)] [Cultural differences (paid leave)] [Why date a punk like him… (Lin Kuei Mom)] [Why date a punk like him… (General Shao)] [Stop closing your eyes!] [There is never a god around when you need one] [(Over)protective brothers, p. 1 - upset Tomas]

*Aether plops down at the base of the Windrise tree. He leans against it and curls up, tired eyes closing. He seems a bit pained as he tries to drift to sleep.*
-✨Aether ( @talkwith-thewitness )
Venti had been in the middle of sitting beneath the Windrise tree, getting out of the sun from a long day of walking around and looking pretty. He saw the tiredness of the traveller and giggled as he himself had just been feeling tired.
It would not be long before his lyre appeared in hand and Venti played a nice relaxing tune for the traveller. Aether must have fought many foes and collected much treasure before arriving here.
As for a price for the music? Oh, Aether made Venti smile today with his mere presence! That was enough of a reward in the bard's eyes.

in the aftermath of Beatrice speaking for the first time, what do you think are the biggest holes in the Genji Culprit Theory you've been building? you've mentioned having some doubts in it a few times now.
very tentative thoughts here but it basically boils down a number of curious contradictions i can't quite resolve.
first major thing massively concerns meshing genji culprit theory with the "natsuhi and krauss covered up kinzo's death for embezzlement reasons" theory. evidence in the story i think quite firmly points to the old man having been dead all along, which means that several questions need to be asked about why the terminally devoted genji let things play out as they did.
there's also the fact that the last few chapters have been very almost obviously leaning towards the Genji Culprit Theory with natsuhi outright declaring it at the height of her paranoia. i think the major point of the study scene is to indicate that everyone's suspicion and biases are leading them to completely incorrect conclusions (maria being culpable, kumasawa killing kanon, battler's assumption that beatrice and kinzo are on the same side) and thrown in among that is natsuhi's accusation that genji is the ringleader with the servants as his accomplices. by the logic of the story for that to have a grain of truth the theories it's juxtaposed with must also contain some grain of truth, and the rest of them are so blatantly false as to cast doubt on what is at this time the only theory left with a solid foundation. genji culprit theory was reached by a process of elimination and getting somewhere by default is different to pointing to one theory among a sea of equally likely ones.
the other thing is that genji's actions have been deviating from what it's looking like kinzo's scheme was. it's now appearing that kinzo's plan was to annihilate the family he loathed and bequeath his wealth and riches to his furniture servants as incestuous vicarious surrogates of himself and beatrice. kinzo setting shannon and/or kanon up as possible successors is something the story's not been shy about hinting to and while the chess metaphor does make it clear that there's a disconnect between kinzo's true desire and what's unfolding, it feels odd that the culprit's actions have totally sabotaged that so many times. genji knowing about whatever happened to beatrice is likely an indicator that he also knows about kinzo's furniture successor thing, so under that framework genji specifically letting kanon die does not make a shred of sense. shannon dying as an unfortunate accident due to factors beyond his control is one thing, but kanon? it's incongruent in a way that's hard to ignore.
basically outside of the weird chess metaphor stuff my problem is that genji has been portrayed as deeply and immovably devoted to kinzo where it's clear he would do anything to uphold his beloved master's will, but so much of beatrice's mission statement is directly meant to undermine kinzo and tarnish his legacy. this speaks to either the loyal servant personality being a total ruse hiding someone as desperate and resentful as kanon was, or this speaks to someone else involved in everything that has the gumption and drive to attack kinzo like he has been. the bulk of the events have not gone according to kinzo's plan, so it becomes a question of whose will is being accommodated here?
and finally more than all that is the fact that beatrice spoke in this chapter, and it was with her own voice. not only that, but she spoke in a room devoid of magic and illusion, meaning that for all intents and purposes beatrice has now been effectively defined as her own discrete entity separate from genji. the obvious read from that is that if you accept beatrice as true and tangible, then the culprit definitionally cannot be genji. he upholds the witch's narrative, but he himself is not the witch, which obviously casts major doubt on how you assume this situation is set up.
