In hindsight, accidentally hot boxing Eddie’s van while they were all already drunk was… maybe not the best idea.

Steve has no idea how they got here; blinked and time did the thing again, but now it’s three in the morning and Gareth’s conked out with a black eye in the front passenger seat and the rest of them are sprawled on top of each other like puppies in the back of the van — Eddie with his head in Robin’s lap so she can braid his hair, Steve using Eddie’s chest as a pillow, Max curled up like a sleeping cat in the crook of Steve’s bent knees.

With his eyes closed, Steve feels like he’s fallen into some dark, glittering void, purple-blue-black swirls of light dancing behind his eyelids to the syrupy beat of a metal ballad Eddie’s playing at the lowest volume. Eddie hums along in a low, soft rasp, and Steve’s head moves with the swell of each breath; gentle rocking rise and fall, luring Steve away from shore. Somewhere curious and strange. Deep ocean, dark waters. His thoughts float by like jellyfish.

Eddie’s warm through his t-shirt.

“Still alive down there, Sneeze?” Eddie asks. He’s carding his fingers idly through Steve’s hair, rings catching on the strands, tugging a little on his scalp.

“Feels good,” Steve hums. Wait a minute. “Did’you jus’ call me Sneeze?”

“No?” Eddie snorts. “Just called you Steve, sweetheart.”

“I’m absolutely gonna start calling you Sneeze, though,” Robin chimes in, pitching her voice all low and stupid. “‘Yes, hello, I’m Robin and this is my very best friend, Sneeze Handkerchief.’”

Eddie lets out a cackle and immediately joins in on her game of royally fucking up Steve’s name.

Steve closes his eyes again, lets himself drift out into the weird purple-blue-black-glitter magic slime swirl situation. Sloshy and dark and warm and nice. It’s just nice: Eddie’s breathing, full and slow; Robin’s laugh like cracked church bells. He likes hearing them get along even when he can’t make out the words.

He likes it less when he can make out the words. He wades back to himself for a moment, cracks one eye open and finds them red-faced and crying laughing over “Edgy Mustard and his neighbor, Sven Hamburger” and mumbles, “You’re both such fuckin’ dorks.”

“You’re a fuckin’ dork, you fuckin’ dork,” Max mutters in response, turning over with a soft snore.

“Oh, my god,” Eddie whispers, “did that kid just shit talk you in her sleep?”

“She’s incredible,” Robin coos. “Sven, we may have to reassess your status as my best friend; I’m obsessed with her.”

Steve rolls over and faceplants into Eddie’s stomach with a pouty harrumph. “Leamme alone, you bullies, ’m sleepin’.”

Oh my gosh! I am so, so sorry for answering this so late, especially since it’s so sweet of you to give me a chance to gush about my self-ships and fictional others! It means a lot to me, for you to show that interest. Because others may not though, I will hide this under a cut! I also, just to make things a little more interesting and because you said to go with any fandom, took each of the five prompts and let a random name picker choose five of my fandoms, since I have at least one fictional other per fandom and usually more, so I hope you’ll find something within the variety that will make you smile 😊

💋 : favorite pet name they call you? and vice versa

I feel like I’m very much the pet namer in my relationship with Bandou Saburouta. While I’ll get him into the habit of calling me by my own personalized pet name, something he chooses, it takes a while and it’s something he really only does in private. It’s too embarrassing, to him, to call me anything other than my name when we’re out in public. In private however, it’s something sweet and kind of basic that he calls me – something like ‘babe’ or ‘hun’. However, I’m someone who uses petnames as a part of their everyday vernacular. I’m horrible at using people’s names and even call strangers things like ‘hun’, ‘dear’, ‘sweetheart’. It’s just a part of the culture I grew up in and I likely called him by those things right from the get-go, which made him really flustered and blushy. When we got into a relationship though, I started using names specifically just for him and him alone. ‘Angelface’ and ‘lovebug’ are just two of the ones I use and both never fail to make him smile and he’s gotten better at not blushing every time I use them.

😘 : pda — yay or nay?

Because of Sven Vollfied’s strict code of chivalry, he’s not really open to a lot of PDA. He demands it from himself that he treats me with the respect a woman deserves and is really only okay with hand-holding in public, maybe a kiss on the forehead if the situation is really serious or he’s having a hard time of it. Even with that code though, it’s not really him putting the kibosh on PDA here. That’s all me. I am not someone who is comfortable with PDA of any sort. It’ll take me a while to be comfortable holding his hand in public and that’s about as far as I’ll go. All physical affection is done in semi-private or when it’s just the two of us.

❣️ : most memorable valentine’s day?

Valentine’s Days, for me and Vanderwood, are exceptionally low-key. Neither of us really buy into the hype around the day and we don’t go out of our way to make super-special plans or to exchange gifts. To us, it’s largely just another day and it’s something we bond over and that makes us feel in tune with each other, in as far as relationship expectations go. So there’s not a huge lot of Valentine’s Day memories between the two of us, unless you count him having to piggyback me out of a zoo because I tried climbing a fence, fell down, and twisted my ankle badly enough that I couldn’t walk on it properly. But hey, I just wanted a better view and he refused to move – he’s not always the most understanding that, as a taller guy, having a short girlfriend means he should always be behind me and not in front.

❤️‍🔥 : something they say/do/wear that makes you flustered? and vice versa

While Sirius Oswald always looks damn fine, and that uniform is frigging smoking on him, there’s something about that man dressing down that also gets me. It’s when he mixes the two though that I’m like…holy hot damn, YES. Something like this, just relaxed splits me between wanting to just sit and admire him or to start undoing all those buttons.

On me, I do think Sirius is a fan of all the cute sundresses I own, especially the ones that are really flowy around the bottom, but rather fitted up around the bust.

🎸 : song of the evening for you and your f/o?

Me and Badou Nails are another couple that just doesn’t do Valentine’s Day. Even putting aside the utter crapshoot that is the Dogs universe, neither of us are just those kinds of people. The day is just another day and it doesn’t really make sense to spend a bunch of money neither of us have to show that we’re in love with each other. We make a date night, but it’s low-key. We hang out on a rooftop, watching the setting sun, talking away, smoking cigarettes and drinking from a bottle of cheap liquor that we share together. I listen to his grumblings, he hears my vents. I make him laugh and feel accomplished, he teases me until I blush and smiles at his handiwork. And this scene is all set to the low background music of The Hush Sound’s Hourglass.

Kris and Erik's Nicknames

Just a little rundown of some of the cute nicknames Kris and Erik use for each other in my fics! Feeling kinda tired today, so no actual writing is getting done!

Kris -> Erik.

Mon Amour - 'my love' in French, the big one, the one he uses for Erik most often. Easily my favourite to use as well. Mon Beau Amour - 'my beautiful love' in French, not super common, mostly used to make a point. Mon Tresor - 'my treasure' in French, not as common, but still comes up every so often. Mon Coeur - 'my heart' in French, also not as common, a shared petname. Alskad Mitt - 'My love' in Swedish, because you bet your ass Tanger learned his man's language. Darling - his go-to in English. A rare one. The idea of Kris saying this is irresistible to me. Will be popping up here and there.

Erik -> Kris.

Hjartat Mitt - 'my heart' in Swedish, the big one for him, used for Kris most often. My favourite to write as well. Alskad Mitt - 'my love' in Swedish, not as common, but comes up here and there. Min Karaste - 'my most beloved' in Swedish, mostly used in private. Skatten mitt - 'my treasure' in Swedish, also not as common, used also mostly in private. Mon Coeur - 'my heart' in French, because Erik went out of his way to learn his man's language too. Sweetheart - Erik's go-to in English. Doesn't come up very often, won't be super common, but it feels right to me.

I'd think Kris would find Erik calling him 'Tanger' to be weird, likewise with Kris calling Erik 'Karl', that's just not how they address each other. Eventually, the team figure these petnames out, and make fun of them for them constantly.

Also, these guys have the most insane full names ever, like. Kristopher Pierre Joseph Irwin Letang, and Erik Sven Gunnar Karlsson. Like, holy shit, that's a lot of names!

Love & Pies

I've been playing Love & Pies for several months now and that is, genuinely, the longest a merge game has lasted in my phone since, like, 2016. Let's get into it.

The Game

Love & Pies is a completely free-to-play mobile merge game. It's a lot like the other merging games on app stores nowadays, but there are absolutely NO advertisements! You can spend money for in-app rewards, as with most ftp indie games, but I've had very little reason to do so, and I don't think I've actually given in to any of those urges yet.

The game follows a young woman named Amelia who just moved back to her hometown with her daughter Kate. When she arrives, she finds her mothers cafe had suffered a fire, and her mother was nowhere to be found! Sounds very similar to the draw towards other games like this, right? The story of it, anyways. Well, that's on purpose. The actual game is so much smoother, cleaner, and cohesive than you can find anywhere else on the app store.

Amelia, unlike protagonists of similar games, doesn't just passively let things happen to her as she rebuilds and runs her mothers cafe. People in town come to depend on her to solve mysteries in their own lives - some of them quite dramatic! - all while she tries to solve the mystery of who tried to burn down her mothers cafe, and where in the world her mother is anyways.

I'm somewhere around Day 40 now, meaning 40 days since Amelia returned, and so far I've met her uncle, her great aunt, her childhood best friend, her high school sweetheart (+ his twin brother), a local lawyer, a local journalist, the owner of the rival cafe, and the rival cafe owners horrendous father. There are other characters also mentioned in passing, but the cast is quite diverse in both race/ethnicity and body type! They frequently have an event ran called 'Uncle Sven's Toy Shop' where you help Sven and his longterm partner Otis build toys for the children at the local children's hospital (pictured below).

The Experience

Despite my screenshots looking low-quality, this game is of the highest caliber. The story is consistently engaging, the art and character designs are eye-catching and very down-to-earth. And, most importantly of all, the characters are human. Their dialogue reads like real conversations, and not those poorly written scraps you find in other free mobile games. It's very obvious that the team at Trailmix put a lot of time, love, and effort into this game.

Other than that, there's not much to tell about the experience of the game. You merge a couple things together to get a new thing and then you serve a customer the result to get coins to advance the story. Simple, concise, predictable. Obviously customers order different things and their orders get more complex with time, but the game is constantly supplying you with more items to merge into the suppliers that give you ingredients.

Also, many of the events run (aside from Sven's Toy Shop) can be played by playing the game as normal. The other two events that they often run are "Edwina's Coin Dash" in which you have to get as many coins as possible in 3 days to beat Edwina, the rival cafe owner. The other one is called "Yuka's Date Dash" where you help Yuka, Amelia's childhood best friend, acquire roses for a date. There are multiple levels to each of these events that you have to beat, each increasing how many coins/roses you need to advance. So, as of yet, I haven't beat either of the events, but I've gotten within 3 levels of beating Edwina's coin dash. I'll be taking that crown, yet!

The Pies

Listen, I'd be lying if I said that there was anything totally unique and original about this game. Quite frankly, there isn't. But I think that's what makes it special! The grounded, down-to-earth nature of this game is what keeps me coming back for more. The people in this game look like people I see everyday! That's really important to me, especially because the people I see everyday aren't necessarily represented through games of any kind, let alone mobile games. Trailmix, if you're reading this, you've made something really special. I'd say mission statement successful with this one.

The Conclusion

This is a really great mobile game and I absolutely encourage everyone to make space on their phone and download it. Decorating this sweet little cafe is something I try to make time for everyday. It brings me little pockets of joy every time I open it, and it's a great way to kill a few minutes while waiting for a class or meeting to start. It's completely free! No advertisements whatsoever! And developed by an indie game studio! Hurry up and go get it!

Introducing... Amari & Sven for @madebycoffee

Amari Oates (29, Straight?) has dreams of making it big in music and dance. He’s smooth, confident, friendly and always looking for his next adventure. He has so much energy he nicknames himself the energizer bunny (and I’ll let you interpret that how you want 😏), however this comes with a drawback. He’s often restless and this includes socially where he may want to move too quickly. He keeps himself in great condition through dance, calisthenics and yoga. He lost his hearing in one ear due to a childhood illness but this didn’t stop him leaning to spin the decks. He’s entering the challenge with eyes for Xiomara, and maybe to sneakily gain some fame too👀 . Originally from Oasis Springs, Amari moved to San Myshuno to achieve his dream of being a professional dancer (Bailey Kay hit him up pls🥹) Only it hasn’t quite worked out. But he’s never worried! His slightly better than average DJ skills have kept him living comfortably in San Myshuno. Right??

Wrong. The increase in living costs has hit the sims world hard. And with these living costs, Amari has had to get a roommate. Which brings us to:

Sven Lingaard (31, Bisexual). An upbeat, very handy, but incredibly messy gentleman. Sven comes from a large family originally from Widenburg. They moved to Henford on Bagley, purchased a 50x40 plot of land and built a farm. Sven is not shy of hard work, and anything that broken he can fix. Now, despite Sven coming from a big family (five brothers and sisters), he can be reserved and almost naïve at times. He hasn’t had many experiences and in fact has only had one partner in life (his high school sweetheart called ?????) He prefers a slow burn type of romance. He’s decided to try new things from moving to San My, to entering the bachelor/ette hopefully winning the heart of either Xiomara or Taine.

Roommate dynamic and other points:

These two have only known each other for a short while. They’re sort of friends, but can clash at times. Amari isn’t a exactly tidy himself but he has a really hard time with Sven’s untidiness (think constantly muddy boots, dirty clothing and plates across the apartment). 

Sven works the morning shift as a fisherman but Amari’s late night dance rehearsals or mixing means a lack of sleep at least three times a week. 

Sven would love a big family one day (soon). He has a very good relationship with his family and couldn’t dream of having anything less than five kids. Amari is neutral on this topic but perhaps someone can change his mind...

Because Amari doesn’t worry about things, he can fail to realise the importance of some situations. This is why he hasn’t gotten a steady job.

Sven likes to craft beer...or juice 😏. He currently only does this for personal use. Even if Amari is often “borrowing” a bottle or two (pre-drinks amirite?)

Amari’s confidence means he likes to show off. A lot. He can come across as arrogant. But just give him a reality check and he’ll pack it in.

Anyway, I hope you, Xiomara and Taine like them both!

Pokemon Partners

Being a Ranger means that you'll most likely end up with a Pokemon Partner. After some time, you can even understand and talk to each other.

For Kellyn, his partner is a Starly who evolved into a Staraptor. Her name is Fischl, and she will absolutely DESTROY you if you dare hurt her precious and adorable partner. She's quite known to spell it out without a care in the world.

Keith has Sapphire. A Buizel he rescued back in Summerland. Even though he's quite sassy and sarcastic at times, he's loyal and will NEVER abandon Keith. He's the reasonable one in the group and is not getting paid enough for this.

Patchouli or Pachi, for short, is the name of Kate's Pachirisu. A little gremlin who likes to cause chaos. If at first, he was jealous of Rhythmi because of her relationship with Kate, he ended up accepting her. Getting pampered by her must have played a part in that.

Sven and Eden, his Luxray, are the ones who have known each other for the longest time. True Partners in Crime who don't need words to understand each other. He may be intimidating and serious, but he's still a sweetheart. You can sometimes spot them taking a nap under the shadow of a tree.

Sky is Wendy's precious Staraptor. The two of them are quite known around the Union to be inseparable. A competent yet humble bird who was Fischl's mentor at one point. If Eden is the "cool parent", he's pretty much the stricter one. But, he can be mischievous at times.
