Headcannon time

HC all about Swapfell Red and the Mutt man, perhaps with the extra family content.

Papyrus; Mutt, Russ, Russell

Papyrus has only given his name back when he was a young tyke and didn't understand the ability it would give others to know his name. As an adult, he doesn't speak of it, though still responds to it silently. (Most beings who knew his name are either dead, or used another name to the point that they forgot completely of what he used to go by. Only Sans, Undyne, and Queen Toriel know of it.)

Close friends he trusts, he gives his nickname 'Russ'. He's taken up a habit of using a more human name, since Monsters see him more as one due to his own imagery. Yes, double S's, because he's chosen the 'Human' name of Russell.

The nickname 'Mutt' comes from his brother Sans, more in a means of playfully bantering with him that came from childhood, though people have taken it as a negative meaning. Sans and Papyrus use that to their advantage; He plays the lazy, undeserving, drunken and drugged-out brother, whose so low on his luck that he has to undignifyingly rely on his baby brother.

It's such a habit to call himself 'Mutt', play the role of a womanizer, that most others think he's part of a Wolf Pack. Russ isn't, but he enjoys hearing and getting others to believe he is. And if he's caught? Well, his fleeing powers come in such good use! Even better if he can get two Clans against the other... Better yet if he can earn Favors from them, however- Something he's done quite a few times before.

He recalls who has given him life, his name, his powers; though his 'Creator' has thankfully lost his mind, memory, and parts of his Soul. There's reasons why he stays away from the Snowy part of town, and it isn't because of the terrible snow storms. Not like the cold bothers him, anyways.

He enjoys Human company the most. It's more along the lines of what was first an addiction, slowly morphed to understanding, then a spark of what he'd never thought he'd have; Life. But even though that feeling ended in pain, causing a small habit of drug taking again to form; Russ still finds solace in beings who he looks more apart of compared to others. He bleeds like the humans, perhaps he was one back in the days?

He knows where the Blood-red Echo's come from. It pains him how the White and Pink Echo flowers are made... He's just glad he was able to keep His Human from becoming those when she was here.

He might look lazy; Look like someone you'd REALLY not want following you... But honestly, probably the best thing to have happen to you.

Russ is notorious to be someone who can hide easily; No one but the Judge has seen how he works. Not even Sans.

Queen Toriel had wanted to make him her right hand man; But he declined it for his own personal reasons... Instead, taking up another type of job- Earning the nickname 'Watch Dog'.

Sans; General, Commander, Tyrant, Regal

Sans has one of the worst tempers in the Underground; Most beings can't believe he hasn't turned yet like the last General did with all the power he has gained over the years.

He will only stand down if personally told by Queen Toriel, otherwise he is head strong, high strung, and will always be victoriously vicious in whatever he's doing.

Doesn't care for many other beings; Has been called all the names in the book but most Civilians call him 'Tyrant', though it's for their own good with the rules he has placed.

The only ones he has looked up to have died; Both physically, like his adopted father and the King, and Mentally, like his brother and his adopted sister. (It will only be after a few years out of the Underground will he see his brother as, once again, someone he can rely and count on and finds something to help his sister regain her consciousness from LVL-overdrive.)

Teenage Monsters enrage him to no end; It brings back terrible memories and annoyances that his own brother had pulled back in the day. However, he does find some twisted joy in scaring the shit out of these ones.

Young Monsters, he tends to ignore if they are being cared for. But under the guise of the Queens Rules; He allows himself to show no mercy to those who need a helping claw, though there have been some he's been far too late to save...

Knows that everyone who tries to befriend him only want his protection. Only friends of his brothers, he tends to be slightly less toxic to... However, there is one Monster he wouldn't mind befriending...

Though he can be toxic, extremely narcissistic, & ego driven; He does have a calmer side to him... It's shown when he drinks. Sans favorite thing to do after a specifically long and exhausting day is to get wine from Gillby's and, perhaps, bring home some healing waters to relax in.

Bribes normally don't work on Sans; But if it's for a good cause...

Sans has always gone by; 'Sans the Malevolent', and because he doesn't have a last name as far as both brothers are aware; Most of those under him call him 'General/Commander Malevolent', etc...

Sans is the voice for both him and his brother; However, he does look and read his brother for expressions and other telling tales that only he can translate due to their sibling bond.

Extremely well tuned in body language, more than his brother is.

Has pure hatred for so many things... It's easier to list what he actually likes.

Phobia

Undertale (Bad sans poly)

Cross walks into the kitchen only to find Horror already up and cooking breakfast for the gang.

“Mornin’,” Horror says as Cross walks into the kitchen and over to the coffee pot. He pours himself a cup of coffee. Cross bows his head, saying good morning silently.

“Good morning Cross.” Nightmare says from his usual spot at the dining table. Cross gasps and jumps, almost dropping his cup of coffee.

Cross takes a deep breath before saying morning, he didn’t even notice the king was awake. Nightmare chuckles scrolling through his phone.

“Apologies, I did not mean to startle you.”

“It’s okay,” Cross says quietly, taking his place at the table. Cross quietly drank his coffee, listening to the noises of Horror in the kitchen. For a big skeleton, making breakfast he sure was quiet.

“You all will have to get supplies today.” Nightmare says, setting his phone face down against the table.

“From which Au?” Cross asks, Nightmare took a drink from his mug. The mug is black and in white text, it reads ‘World’s greatest boss’ though ‘world’ has been crossed out with a red marker and replaced with multiverse.

“Error would like to destroy swapfell copy 56, preferably that au.” Cross nods half listening to Nightmare and listening to the footsteps of Horror approach.

Horror sets a plate of food in front of Cross and Nightmare.

“Thank you Horror.”

“Thanks, Horror.”

“Yer.. welcome.. I…get….others” Nightmare stands up and sets a hand on Horror’s shoulder.

“It is okay Horror, I shall gather them. You sit and eat. I will be back in a moment.” Horror nods slowly and sits down at the table and begins to eat.

Cross watches Nightmare walk away, he takes a bite of his food.

Cross and Killer walk down the town of Snowdin looking for any supplies they need. They had dusted the entire au and were now looking for what they needed at the castle.

While Cross was walking he suddenly became very dizzy, it appeared out of nowhere. Killer notices Cross falter and stumble over the snow.

“Heh, gettin’ tired Criss Cross?” Killer jokes, Cross rolls his eye lights with a huff. He ignores it and forces himself to push through.

“I’m fine.”

As more time passes Cross begins to question if he really is fine. He starts to feel nauseous, his echo has formed against his will and his stomach felt like it was cramping. He feels hot and cold all at the same time.

Finally, they meet up with Horror and Dust which means it is almost time to go back to the castle. They just have to go over what they got.

Dust counts the items and compares them to the list. It is quiet while he works, and Killer decides to poke fun at Cross to fill the silence.

“I had to do all the work, seems like Crossy got tired and weak.” He laughs. Killer playfully nudges Cross, Cross squeezes his eyes shut and tries to ignore how much that upset his stomach.

Dust looks up at Cross eyes narrowing when he didn’t respond.

“Cross.” He looks up at Dust and realizes everyone is staring at him. It makes him feel uneasy.

“Are you okay?” Cross only nods before looking back down at the ground.

The three exchange looks, they know for a fact he isn’t. Though they don’t want to push him into talking if he doesn’t want to.

They let it be, for now, Nightmare can handle it.

The four of them stood before Nightmare, who was sitting at his desk doing paperwork.

He didn’t even have to look up to know it was his gang, though he sensed something off. He eyes each one of them, before looking over Cross.

He was staring at the ground and he seemed to be wobbling in place. He was clutching his stomach making Nightmare concerned.

“How…how did the mission go?” Nightmare's eyes shift to the other three.

“It went well, we got what we needed and extra.” Dust states blankly.

“No one was hurt on this mission, correct?” Nightmare asks his eye lights drifting back to Cross.

“No one was hurt,” Dust confirms, “However Cross said he was ‘tired’.”

“Cross.” The monochrome skeleton didn’t look up, he continued to stare blankly with a slight pained expression at the floor. He swayed side to side ever so slightly making Nightmare believe the others would have to catch him.

“Cross?” Nightmare asked again, this time Horror set his hand on the other’s shoulder. He looked up, his eye lights were fuzzy and his face was flushed with bright purple blush.

“Cross, is what Dust said true?” Cross glanced at Dust before giving a confused look back at Nightmare.

Nightmare softly sighs, “Are you indeed tired from the mission?”

Cross took a moment to answer before he nodded slightly, Cross swallowed the ever-growing spit in his mouth. Trying to keep down whatever was trying to come up.

He would rather die than throw up, he hasn’t thrown up in years and he doesn’t plan to now.

“Alright, you may be dismissed.” Cross bows his head, he slowly and carefully makes his way out of the room.

Once the door was shut all eyes fell on Nightmare once he spoke.

“What happened?” He deadpanned.

Cross shakily holds the wall with one hand and with the other clutches his stomach. He was nearly halfway to his room when the pain in his stomach grew.

Purple tears leaked from his sockets as he slightly begged himself to do anything but throw up.

He tries to relax despite his pain and fear, he knows exactly what to do to get rid of this feeling. He would sit in the cold, sip on water and if he ever got hungry then he would eat small amounts of bread.

After what felt like forever he made it to his room, he opened the door and quickly closed it behind him.

Once inside he sits on the cold hard floor, hoping to feel some relief. His stomach felt hot, surely if he made himself cold he would get better. Cross carefully peeled off his clothes until he was in nothing but his t-shirt and shorts (which he was even debating about taking off).

Cross rested his skull against his knees and held his legs, he closed his eyes. He hoped by doing so would cause his nausea to lessen and maybe he would rest. Resting always seemed to help.

A knock at the door startled him into lifting his head.

“Cross? Dinner is ready.”

‘Dinner? How long was I sleeping for?’ Cross asked himself, though he was happy. The pain in his stomach has subsided.

He stands up with a small smile. Just as he was about to answer the door he felt incredibly dizzy, hot, and sick all at once. Cross dropped to the ground immediately.

“Nigh!-“ The moment he opened his mouth his stomach contracts and Cross pukes onto the ground.

Cross cries as fear takes over his body. He continues to dispel whatever in his stomach that was making him feel this way.

By his third heave, he felt a hand against his back and a familiar aura.

“Night-“ He tries before puking again.

“Shhh, it is okay Cross. Let your body do what it needs to. I am here, you are safe.” As comforting as it was, it didn't stop Cross from shaking and crying.

Cross’s body finally stopped but Cross didn’t move, he was worried if he moved it would happen again.

Cross let out dry sobs. He was so scared, he didn’t want any of this. Nightmare gently sat him up and pulled him into a hug. The other rubbed his back.

“It is okay Cross, you are okay. I need you to try and calm down.” Cross nods a little and Nightmare takes deep breaths to help and guide the other.

“Are you able to stand?” Nightmare asked gently.

“…I’m scared..” Cross says, his voice wobbling.

“I know, it is okay. We are going to take care of you.” Cross didn’t want them to take care of him, he didn’t want this at all. His throat and stomach burns, he hates this, and he wants this to stop.

“I am going to pick you up and set you on the bed alright?” Cross wanted to protest, saying that he would get hot but Nightmare already had picked him up.

Cross whimpers a little and clutches Nightmare.

“Cross,” Nightmare says softly, he looked down at the other with sadness.

“You have to let go so I may get the items you require to feel better.”

“But what if I-“

“I will send one of the others in here alright?” It wasn’t okay, but Cross knew he had to comply. He allows Nightmare to set him on the bed.

The other walks into Cross’s bathroom and comes back with a bit of toilet paper. Nightmare gently wipes Cross’s mouth and pecks his head.

“I will be back alright? Just relax, stressing will make it worse.”

Cross leans back on his bed as Nightmare left. Cross felt panicked but tried to take deep breaths.

‘Relax’ He tells himself.

‘Relax, and don’t puke.’

‘Relax, and don’t puke.’ The more time that pasts the more panicked he grew.

‘Don’t puke.’

‘Don’t puke.’ His stomach began to hurt, it felt like it was tightening.

‘Don’t puke.’

“Don’t puke.” He whispers to himself.

“Don’t puke.”

He shakily stood up and walked into his bathroom. He sits on his knees and hovers over the toilet.

He takes careful and deep breaths to try and reduce his nausea.

“Deep breaths in and deep breaths out.” He mumbles quietly, Nightmare had taught him that to calm him down from panic attacks. Though he was hoping it would work here too.

Though with the spinning of the room, the gagging feeling and tightening feeling in his stomach didn’t help at all.

Cross panics feeling like he might be sick again. Cross begins to cry again, he needs Nightmare now.

He felt the pressure rise in his gut, and let out a groan. A flood of sour bile filled his mouth. Cross retched and was violently sick into the toilet. He shudders as the bile felt his body, everything hurt it all felt like too much.

“Jeez Crossy.” A hand gently pets his back. He opened his mouth but before he could get a word out he gagged and heaved violently into the toilet.

“Nightmare! M-make it s-stop!” Cross cried once his body gave him a break.

“Nighty will be back soon, we’ll make ya feel better Criss Cross,” Killer reassured him, it was odd for Killer to be so soft but Cross was thankful for it. He needed it now more than ever.

Cross gags and hunches over the toilet only for him to dry heave. His stomach hurt while it tried to expel nothing.

Killer pets his skull when Cross lays his head on the seat.

“Wanna go lay in bed?” Cross shakes his head, closing his eyes. It was too bright and dizzy for him to keep them open.

“‘kay Crossy, we’ll stay here until Nighty comes back.”

Cross nods, he is exhausted. Before he knew it he was asleep.

Dust and Horror walked into the bathroom, Dust sitting on the ground behind Cross while Horror stood at the door.

“How is he?” He asks quietly, to not wake him.

“Rough. ’ve never seen him this upset before.” Killer mumbles, he sits down himself instead of the painful crouch he had been doing.

“I don’t think any of us have, his panic attacks don’t even get this bad.” Dust comments.

“That is because Cross has emetophobia.” Nightmare says walking into the bedroom with an armful of things.

He had a lot of water bottles and a packet of crackers. Along with an ice pack and a heating pack, not knowing which Cross will want. Finally, he had brought meds hoping to help Cross with the pain. Nightmare sets a bucket on the side of the bed.

Dust and Horror get up and begin to help Nightmare set everything up.

“….What…that?” Horror asked, Nightmare sighs.

“The fear of vomiting, though the fear controls their life. They will do anything if it means that they do not get sick. Avoid new foods, overcooking meals, avoiding foul-smelling objects, avoiding words associated with vomiting, and much more.”

“How can we help him?” Dust asked.

“Unfortunately one of the only ways to help someone with emetophobia is exposure therapy, not necessarily making themselves sick but reducing the avoidance he does.”

Killer comes out of the bathroom holding a limp Cross. He lays him on the bed.

“I don’t think he’ll like that,” Killer says looking over his lover.

“Obviously, but does anyone like going through recovery? No, it is difficult- an uphill battle. However, it is worth it.” Nightmare walks over to Cross’s closet and pulls out a fresh shirt and shorts.

“Thank you for cleaning the mess.” Dust bows his head.

Nightmare sits on the edge of the bed and rests his hand on Cross’s forehead, using his magic to wake the other up.

Cross’s sockets open slowly, wincing at the light. He looks around a little confused.

“It is okay Cross, we have cleaned up. We just need you to change your clothes now.” Cross nods and takes his clothes from Nightmare.

He slowly changes to not upset his stomach. Once he was done he hands the dirty clothes to Nightmare.

“Thank you, Cross.” Killer gets into bed and lays next to Cross.

“How ya feeling Criss Cross?” Cross shrugs, and Nightmare frowns. He grabs a bottom of water if his nightstand and opens it.

“I need you to take a few sips of this.” Nightmare states extending the water for Cross to take. Cross looks at Nightmare in fear.

“N-No I‘ll-“

“Puke?” Killer asks finishing his sentence, Cross winces at the word.

“Cross, you are dehydrated. You need to drink something.” Nightmare says sternly, Cross knew it was not up for debate but he was scared.

“I…”

“We’ll take care of you Cross.” Dust says getting on the other side of Cross. Horror crawls onto the foot of the bed.

“It..be….’kay..”

Cross shakily grabs the water and takes a small sip. He feels the coolness travel all the way down his throat and into his stomach. He shudders. He didn’t want to admit but he was so thirsty, he would’ve sucked the whole thing down but he knew better.

“Another one please.” Nightmare asks. Cross takes another sip and another one after that. Nightmare was pleased after he had seven sips. He felt slightly better.

“You may rest now Cross, you must be exhausted.” Cross nods with a small yawn. He gets comfortable in bed when Nightmare speaks up.

“I know you will not like this regardless once you wake up you will have to try and eat something.” Before Cross could fully panic, Nightmare spoke up again.

“Do not worry, it will only be a few crackers. Something bland.”

That did ease Cross but he wasn’t looking forward to it.

Cross lays in bed surrounded by his lovers who were going to make sure he got better and felt safe and comfortable.

“Thank you.”

So skeles visit their S/O at their job in the animal shelter. They walk in and see a bunch of birds perched on their arms, shoulders, and some on top of their head. They asked what was going on and they respond with "I'm like their great big mama bird!"

Undertale Sans - He's so jealous. Parrots and cockatiels are like his favorite pets ever. He wants to do that too! Please let him! Though don't let him too much or you're going home with two cockatiels. That's months he's begging you to have some.

Undertale Papyrus - He's quite impressed and he's taking a few pictures. He's here to bring you lunch but he really doesn't mind to help if you want him too!

Underswap Sans - DO HIM TOO. He wants to carry all the birds too! He wants to be a bird princess like in Snow White. He's way more too excited about this than it should be, but ok. You made his day.

Underswap Papyrus - Sorry, he got lost on the way and he is now crying in front of a dog cage because he learned the poor baby got beaten and is terrified of men, but he's licking his fingers happily and his soul couldn't take it. Fuck it, he's adopting the dog. If you don't stop him, he's going to adopt the entire shelter.

Underfell Sans - You asked him to keep an eye on the birds, when you're coming back, they are all saying "fuck" while Red looks everywhere but you, trying to play the innocent one.

Underfell Papyrus - "OF COURSE THEY WOULD OBEY YOU THEY ARE PRIMITIVE CREATURES WHO NEED A MASTER." All the birds are offended and attack Edge. Edge is not looking very confident trying to escape them. You are not doing anything to help him.

Horrortale Sans - The second he enters the corridor, all the birds leave you to land on him. He even has some of them in his head playing peek-a-boo. He can't see anything, but he is purring, so he's fine.

Horrortale Papyrus - You're maybe the Grand Mama Bird, but he has food and you can't win against the Great Bird Feeder. You feel betrayed as all the birds fly towards Willow to get a snack.

Swapfell Sans - Good for you, he's not getting near the stuff. But the birds want to welcome him too! Nox is T-posing, begging you with his eyes to do something as all the birds are landing on him. He's scared to move or talk. Please help him. please, it's not funny.

Swapfell Papyrus - He has lots of birds on him too. You two are taking selfies and makes Tik Tok so the birds can get adopted quicker. You are very popular! Also, you have to bring a parrot home because he helped you. He won't leave the shelter before you say yes. Good luck.

Fellswap Gold Sans - He accepts to carry one bird. But only with gloves above gloves above gloves above gloves. It's ridiculous, he literally has wood branch as arms now. But he's scared the bird might bite him, which is funny because he was head of the royal guard and he's scared of a tiny canary who is just happy to meet him. He's trying to pretend his hands are not shaking and that he isn't terrified but it's hard.

Fellswap Gold Papyrus - Ok. A bird said "i love you" to him and now he is crying, begging S/O to adopt him. He has a very little heart and he can't take a lot of compliment. So when all the birds said they love him, he bursts in tears.

Swapfell Sans:

howdy! i was wondering what kinds of swapfell pap bitties i could get! im making an oc blog and i'd like to give him a lil fren qwq

*cracks knuckles*

okay, we only have some of the default swapfell boys, though some may not be classic swapfells and actually may be omen-types in disguise! In order to avoid accidentally adopting an omen-type swapfell sans and pap, check for warmer temps compared to other skeletons, blindness in the omen-type swapfell pap (but daredevil type blindness) and a second set of teeth for the omen-type swapfell sans, they can’t help opening their mouths as they speak, so its pretty easy to spot.

anyways, we got a total of four types:

Fellswap (the sans where he likes to drink wine and the pap has a nice black and light orange interior hoodie that says “lame guy”)

Swapfell (the first version of swapfell! Everyone is purple and black mostly, pap only has one working eye, and its a pale shade of red, sans has a triforce eye, much more tame than the other three, though the sanses tend to act like spoiled brats at times)

Swapfell Red (its a very public au, and is pretty much up to interpetation, though the default is papyrus acting like a kicked puppy wearing a parka, track pants with yellow-orange stripes down the sides, and red and white sneakers, sans is more or less dressed like Underswap sans, but, well, more beat up and fell)

Omenswapfell (the sans and papyrus here are often disguised as the three types of swapfells above, but once that secret is out, papyrus wears a panther print jacket with massive amounts of fluff in the inside of the jacket, including in and around the hood, inner pocket defies all logic and can store an infinite amount of items as long as they fit in the pocket, wears jorts and snow boots with little pom poms on the ends of the strings, the sans bears a even more beat up appearance to even swapfell red, fangs and sharp teeth galore, the sans possesses slitted, forest green eyelights and firey breath, extremely fast and nimble, but also physically weak, the slash mark in his red gold armor shows the reason why, pauldrons have large ‘teeth’ on the sides, along with a curving spike on the end, armor is adorned with a dragon with its wings spread, boots are a pale indigo color with straps, gloves are a deep dark purple where claws are visible. These two can summon weapons, the pap can summon a flintlock pistol and the sans can summon a sword that doubles as a bladed whip and a shield.)

Halluciv’s Story Part 3

Reboot was sitting in the path to Snowdin, happily bringing a world to life. This Creator was absolutely amazing, and since the Shift universes were under his jurisdiction as a subset of Swap, Boots got to have some fun. He chuckled as he watched Toriel confront the human, throwing puns and memes around like nobody’s business.

Suddenly, things started to disappear. First a pile of snow, then a tree, then the path. If not for the fact that they were not plot-related elements, Reboot would have thought that the author was going back and changing things. But no, he couldn’t destroy what was unnecessary until the author either finished with it or gave up on it.

This was Eraser’s work.

Reboot sighed, preparing his stylus. “Eraser!” he shouted. “I know it’s you!”

“You’re pretty quick on the uptake today, Boots. It’s good to see you again.” Eraser wrapped his arms around Reboot, holding him much to close for comfort.

Reboot squirmed out of Eraser’s hold, keeping his stylus at the ready. “I’m going to give you ten seconds to leave,” he warned. “It’s your choice.”

Eraser pouted. “Aw, Bootsy. It’s adorable how you protect these glitches of yours, but it gets tiresome. That’s why” he pulled a tablet out from his bag, “I grabbed this on my way over.”

Reboot looked at the tablet and gasped. “No… You can’t! Please!” He reached out, sending neon blue strings out through his fingers, but Eraser blocked them with his giant eraser.

“Why not? This is where the data for all the AUs is stored, right? Bad choice on your part really. Now then…” Eraser started to sift through the files, finally getting frustrated and simply throwing it in the air and erasing it. Reboot felt it in his bones as the AUs crumbled all at once. He fell to his knees, watching as the tablet became nothing but specks of rubber. All that time, all that passion… All gone.

Eraser walked over to Reboot, picking him up and holding him close. Reboot squirmed, unable break out of the arms clutching him until he headbutted Eraser, who dropped him immediately. Reboot opened a tear in the data and quickly slipped through. He emerged into his digi-void and looked around. Usually, he’d see projections of the worlds he helped create, but now it was empty. Gone were the visions of Temmie and Chara making their way through Swapfell, gone were the scenes of Undyne shyly asking Alphys to take a walk through the starways. Blank space took their place, filling Reboot with despair.

He wept, lamenting the lives lost in Eraser’s cruelty. How could he? Why? Why did he do this? Reboot didn’t understand. He cried, his tears ringing out in the void.

A puddle of black ooze formed not far behind Reboot and Nightmare began to form. As he materialized, he noticed the ooze running down his body, rejoining the puddle he had just come from. He stepped out, looking around at the place he found himself in. Blackness as far as his eyes could see, but a few meters in front of him, Nightmare could see a child that looked about his age. Black bones with neon blue numbers running down the back of his skull. He wore bulky blue gauntlets with some sort of rounded red gems near the elbows, and had on a jumpsuit that looked like a cross between a mech suit and a t-shirt and shorts. Around his neck was a glowing blue scarf that started to fade and break off at the end, held in place by a large red button with a white power symbol. Nightmare couldn’t see his face though, because the child had it buried in his hands.

“Hey,” he called, softly so as to not alarm the kid. “Are you okay?” It was a rhetorical question, as he wouldn’t have been drawn here if the kid was. The child looked up at him, with some of the strangest eyes Nightmare had ever seen. The centers were white, and some form of heterochromia was present, as in the child’s left eye, there was a ring of blue around the center m, then yellow, and finally red where the black of the eye would normally be, while the right lacked the blue and the yellow portion was smaller. Electric blue ones and zeros resided on his cheeks and a portion of his forehead. The child gasped, and started to crawl backwards, trying to put distance between himself and Nightmare.

“No, wait! I’m not going to hurt you,” Nightmare promised, holding his hands up placatingly. “I promise, I just want to help you.”

“Wh-who are you? I don’t remember creating you. How did you get here? No one’s supposed to be able to access the Digi-Void except me and…” he trailed off, looking down at the ground fearfully. Slowly, Nightmare lowered his hands and stepped forward. He started to lower himself to the level the child had taken, trying to appear less threatening. It seemed to work, as the child started to relax, curling himself into a loose ball. Nightmare repeated his earlier question.

“E-eraser. He destroyed them. He KILLED them!” The child had a strange voice, almost a cross between a fourteen-year-old and a computer. Slowly, Nightmare opened his arms in a wordless invitation. The child looked up, wary, and curled himself tighter. Nightmare could tell that he had trouble with being held, and closed his arms.

“I’m sorry. Is it alright if I… look through your mind?” The child started to back away. “Alright, I won’t. Will you at least tell me your name and a little bit of what happened?”

The child fidgeted, and started to loosen his grasp on himself. “I’m Reboot.” Nightmare smiled comfortingly.

“Hello, Reboot. I’m… Halluciv.” If Dream had a new name now, then so would he. “It’s nice to meet you.” Reboot nodded. “Can you tell me anything about what happened?” Suddenly, Reboot broke down into tears, and tearfully explained what had happened.

Halluciv wanted to hug the kid so bad, but he remembered Reboot’s earlier reaction and abstained. “Hey,” he spoke, quietly. “It’s going to be okay. We can rebuild the worlds, put them somewhere else. It sounds like this job of yours is too tough for one person to handle on their own. But I’d like to help. Do you think I can?”

Reboot looked up at Halluciv in confusion. Why would he offer to do this? He clearly didn’t know who Reboot was, or Eraser for that matter. And yet here he was, offering his help in what was clearly an ill-fated endeavor. Reboot smiled softly. “I’d like that.”

It felt just like when Halluciv would help someone who’d been hurt in the past. A listening ear, a kind smile, it all helped. He stood up, extending a hand to help his new friend, tugging him up.

Reboot took a good look at Halluciv for the first time. A dark indigo cloak was wrapped around his shoulders, held in place by a crescent moon clasp. It ended, torn and somewhat burned, just below his torso. The hood was up, covering most of his inky black hair, but some covered his right eye. There was a silver circlet on his head, and he wore a midnight blue tunic. Black breeches adorned his legs and disappeared into black leather boots. He was slim, but he seemed strong somehow. His eyes were strange. Black where the whites should be, with glowing lavender irises and no visible pupil. He had an unsettling aura, and yet Reboot felt safe. Suddenly, he remembered something.

“Xtale…” he whispered. “Oh no oh no oh no oh no oh-”

“Hey!” Halluciv interjected, sensing the fear coming off the boy in waves. “Snap out of it. Calm down, alright?” He snapped his fingers in front of Reboot’s face a few times to get his attention. “Listen, I need you to tell me what’s wrong so that I can help, alright?” Reboot looked up at him. “I want you to breathe with me, ok?” Halluciv gently took Reboot’s hand and placed it on his chest. He demonstrated a deep breathing exercise and said “In two three four, out two three four.” He continued until Reboot was following along steadily. “Do you feel a bit better?” At Reboot’s nod, he asked “Is Xtale another universe?”

Reboot nodded. “It’s barely holding on, but Xcellence is there. I’m trying to help him, but…”

“Then let’s check on it.” Halluciv got up and extended his hand. “If it’s gone, then it’s gone. But if it’s not and he’s not doing well, then we need to help him. Okay?”

Shaking, Reboot takes the hand and is helped up into a standing position. “Yeah… yeah, there’s no point in panicking if I don’t know what happened…” He took another deep breath and opened a data path. “This way.”
