Sweater patterns! There are so many!

One of my goals this year is to knit my first sweater, but I can't settle on a pattern. What I am looking for:

Simple construction (but no particular one). For guidance, I have knit quite a few socks and shawls from written patterns and know colourwork, so maybe between intermediate and experienced?

Not just plain, either something with texture or colourwork. For colourwork something either scandinavian (norwegian) or nature inspired would be nice.

I'm thinking DK yarn? Could be convinced to go worsted if I can find some nice handdyed yarn in that thickness.

My favourite colours (for clothing) are (dark) green, grey and black with the occasional dark blue or maroon. Nothing to do with the pattern really, but I'll keep this in mind when looking for yarn.

Anyone have any recommendations? Also I would love to hear your first knit sweater experiences!

The first photograph is just so dreamy. Unfortunately, even in real life the photograph of the sweater back panels don't show a lot of detail. Or rather, the light source is facing the knitting directly, so the depth of the stitch patterns is kind of missed.

TBH I really really want to modify a pattern so I can knit Bucky Barnes' slutty slutty little green sweater. Steve Rogers has that like, naked pec touch scene post serum, Bucky has this deep v sweater.

tried my best to recreate the pattern I devised (I hope the link is working!) -

* black cord is optional, I used 4mm cotton cord, it's, like, stringed under stitches and then sewn to the fabric in several places.

A story of one knitting project I am very proud of!

So, once upon a December 2024 I was entranced by one of San's sweaters -

I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, I was thinking about The Sweater.

Oh, but I think I can knit it! - rightfully thought I.

And I did:

And then it was around February and there suddenly was a hard deadline - I knew, I'd want to wear it to the concert in March...so I knitted day and night!

The night before my flight to Seoul I was stringing it with a black cord😅

BUT IT WAS DONE IN TIME

And it's the best sweater I've ever made♥️

Not 100% pleased with how this one turned out, but it was always just a project to use up some left over yarn, so I don't know if I can be too mad.

This is also the first time I have used my new steam blocking set up! So far I like it WAY more than wet blocking. I can really tell a difference in the yarn after steaming it too ❤️

knitting is like cooking: at first you're too scared to deviate from the recipe because the recipe writer Knew things that you don't and then you do it for a while and you're like. recipe writer wrong we do this based on vibes only

What I love about knitting from patterns is that everyone gets the same baseline but because knitting is such a slow craft and everyone has different preferences people will just change things to be more in line with their tastes. So same sweater pattern but some people will add a different cuff a different neckline a different hem. Do the colourwork differently skip it entirely use a different part of the pattern where it wasn't intended. Change the shaping.

So by the end you have so many variations that are in fact the same item but are not actually the same. I just love how knitters make patterns their own

i keep forgetting to take photos of this sweater, but here she is!

i started on december 19th and finished it on january 26th :-) the yarn is rauma fivel in the color 401. after a soak with wool wash it’s super soft (at least in my opinion) and probably my dearest possession. the color shifts beautifully between a rusty red and a merlot-burgundy depending on the lighting.
