As someone with these 3 placements (scorpio/pisces/4th/8th houses), I really liked doing this post since it's something very personal to me! 💕 Also, one thing I notice is that all these placements usually listen to a lot of music, more than the usual, when in love.
Mini tutorial in case you don't know how to see your rulers. Look at the signs in your 5th and 7th houses, then look at where the planets who rule these signs are in your natal. For ex: I have a 5th house in sagittarius, so I need to look at my jupiter, sagittarius ruler, who is in scorpio in the 4th house. For this, I indicate for you to look at the modern rulership, but in case you don't identify with the characteristics, look at the traditional ruler.

I have like 5 million headcanons for the Hear Me Out au and I can't fit them all into the fic, so here we go, part one of character headcanons:
Charles:
He identifies as queer because he experiences romantic attraction and gender differently than others due to his telepathy (much more fluid). Generally he just uses male terms but he really just doesn't care all that much about pronouns.
he's nearsighted, and wears glasses.
he may not be able to figure out his own life, but he's got great advice for everyone else (and usually it works)
he's kind of been wanting to get his ears pierced for years but he's worried it'll clash with his academia aesthetic
If he's not wearing jumpers and button-ups he owns like five million oversized hoodies in varying colors
he collects converse
He likes classical music and pop and lofi
He just randomly has teabags all the time
Erik (sorry about his face idk what happened):
He generally respects people he'd just rather not talk to them.
Learned to cook and bake from Edie, it's become cathartic for him.
Knows how to paint and draw but will never tell anyone about it. He also makes sculptures from metal when he's bored.
Likes running and working out.
Angel:
Taylor swift girly to Raven's sabrina carpenter obsession (they've got all these records on their walls)
Does yoga and mountain biking
Makeup specialist of the house (since raven can just do it with her powers)
Will sometimes go flying with sean but he makes her nervous a lot because like, what if something happened to his suit?
Haunts the local starbucks
Raven:
Only wears gold jewelry and loves pink
Will kill anyone who hurts her friends (and they'll never find the body)
Has watched the sabrina carpenter christmas special like ten million times
does "natural makeup" tutorials for mutants with all different skin colors. People send her pictures of their mutation and she shifts into them, spends time making the look, and then posts it for them.
Sean:
Started to learn to cook when they all moved in together (just simple foods for now but he's getting better and really enjoys it)
Wayyyyy too much energy at any given moment
Has perfect pitch and is a great singer because of his mutation. He can also play any instrument by ear.

most lesbian taylor swift songs as decided by me, a raging lesbian (part 2)
1. the way I loved you — literally the comphet anthem! it’s exactly how I talked about boys before I came out
2. but daddy I love him — even with the he/him/his pronouns this song is so undeniably lesbian coded. a relationship forbidden not only by the narrator’s family but the entire town??? need i say more?
3. maroon — the incense, “like you were my closest friend”, the mark on the collarbone being a lipstick print instead of a hickey? I saw gay, so I said gay
4. gold rush — this simply is not a song you write about a man
5. seven — that first childhood love that you didn’t realize was love until you were much older and you’d already grown apart
6. cowboy like me — this one is just pure vibes. nothing about this song is straight to me
7. snow on the beach — whenever taylor sings a duet with a woman I’m always gonna interpret the song as gay
8. fresh out the slammer — imagine this one from the perspective of a closeted lesbian who finally leaves her man and goes to the woman she truly loves, it’ll change your life. I like to think of this as a sort of sequel to the couple in the way I loved you
9. so it goes… — “wear you like a necklace” case closed.
10. how you get the girl — you can present me with a tutorial and how to pull women and not expect me to call it gay

Monster Spotlight: Quickling
CR 3
Chaotic Evil Small Fey
Bestiary 2, pg. 227 (art from 2e's Bestiary 2, pg. 218)
Have I really never reviewed these guys? Weird! Well, better late than never, I suppose. The Quickling is a premier "tutorial monster" to introduce your party to specific actions and tactics they can use in Pathfinder, namely readied actions, because at just about every level of play, a single Quickling can deliver a swift and painful end to any party that doesn't take proper precautions against them. There are many "tutorial" encounters in Pathfinder that serve to beat lessons into players; Shadows teach players to have magic weapon buffs, Trolls teach players to carry multiple sources of elemental damage (and, to a lesser extent, the importance of denying enemies their Full-Attacks in whatever method you can manage), low-level 'swarming' enemies like goblins and bandits teach the importance of knowing when to divide your damage and when to focus it, and any low-level Outsider teaches players the value of having multiple weapons made out of different materials available. In the case of Quicklings, players will quickly learn the value of readied actions, as well as the value of common items like caltrops, tanglefoot bags, and immobilizing/area control spells.
Why? Well, look at that name. You see that name and likely think to yourself, 'oh so they're fast?' And you have no idea how much of an understatement that is; a Quickling's speed is literally unmatched by any creature that isn't hundreds of feet tall with a stride to match, because they can move 120ft with a single move action, or approximately 14 miles an hour. This means a Quickling that's running full sprint moves at 480ft/round, or 54 miles an hour, fast as a literal car on a highway! There's 'fleet of foot,' and then there's the Quickling, literally so fleet of foot that they're nearly invisible while moving thanks to their Supernatural Speed, their bodies blurring and distorting at the edges to make them almost impossible to spot even if they're just taking a single move action.
Mechanically, this translates to 20% concealment on any round they take any actions so they benefit even if they don't actually move, as well as granting them both the Evasion ability (and with +11 to their Reflex saves, they're most certainly succeeding against level-appropriate abilities) AND Uncanny Dodge so they're impossible to catch off-guard. Their disproportionate 20 AC is further complicated by their DR 5/cold iron, all of these defenses making them unstoppable if confronted by people simply trying to swing weapons at them, the Quicklings deftly avoiding incoming attacks with such speed that their foes are practically attacking their afterimages, while any blows which DO miraculously connect are often mitigated entirely by their Damage Reduction.
They kind of need it, though, because they have 18 hitpoints on average, often going down in a single round if the party manages to get ahold of them.
Stories circulate in-universe about people encountering Quicklings without realizing what's happening, feeling nothing but a rush of air near them before a wound suddenly opens on their body and they feel their consciousness begin to fade. This is their preferred tactic, poisoning their tiny swords (blue whinnis is their favorite, as it causes unconsciousness) before darting in and out of view at speeds most creatures can't comprehend. Their swords deal an incredible 1d4-1 damage, but they add +1d6 Sneak Attack damage if they hit someone unawares, and because of their monstrous speed and access to the Spring Attack feat they can literally afford to run in, stab someone once with a poisoned weapon, then run back out to hide and re-poison their weapon. It's a simple tactic but a dangerously effective one, especially since they move so fast a party may not even realize what's going on until someone manages to spot the little bastard dashing past.
Because of their ridiculous speed, a Quickling can move stealthily (+18) or climb surfaces (+14 Acrobatics) at 60ft/round, letting them duck out of a combat they don't want any part in without risking a party being able to easily chase them down... And if their sheer speed wasn't enough to lose someone, Quicklings can use Dancing Lights and Ventriloquism 1/day to throw off false signals in multiple directions, or lure victims into elaborate traps and ambushes. Once in stealth, they can use Sneak Attack + Spring Attack with impunity to wear down just about any party whose Perception isn't up to snuff.
As a last resort, a Quickling can urge itself to hold still, which causes it to become entirely invisible until it takes an action again! JUST when you thought you finally had the bastard caught, you round a corner into an enclosed alleyway with no way out just to find it empty. Most people believe the things can straight up teleport, and that's not far from the truth! These things are built to be frustrating as all getout right up until the martials in the party remember how to ready attacks, trips, and grapples, and the party casters ready Color Spray to throw in their general direction.
Quicklings make excellent teaching tools, but that's not all they have to be! They're incredibly dangerous monsters to give any magic items, strange equipment, and/or class levels to, especially classes like Rogue or Slayer, allowing them to appear at any level of play to malice players and make them fear the sound of tiny scampering feet. The good news, however, is that at higher levels, players will likely have a way to take advantage of their Slow Susceptibility; while this doesn't strip them of their running speed, it DOES sicken them AND remove the benefits of Supernatural Speed, which means they lose their concealment bonus, Evasion, and Uncanny Dodge, finally allowing the party's mage to put the little gremlin at the center of a Fireball like they've wanted to for 4 levels now.
Final fun fact: Quicklings have an absolutely ridiculous +50 to Acrobatics checks to jump, meaning that by just taking 10 and not rolling at all, they can clear 60ft gaps or leap nearly 20 feet straight into the air! I suppose that's where all their Acrobatics goes when one of them becomes so consumed with murderous urges that they finally evolve into an even worse Fey...
You can read more about them here.

The Contestants Are Here!
Thank you for your patience, I'm now ready to announce our contestants for the Obscure Character Showdown! There are 300 characters, split up into 6 groups of 50.
Here's how the schedule will work: Day 1 is Group A Round 1 Part 1, Day 2 is Group A Round 1 Part 2, Day 3 is Group B Round 1 Part 1, Day 4 is Group B Round 1 Part 2, Day 5 is Group C Round 1 Part 1, and so on and so forth until we reach Group F Round 1 Part 2, and then the next day we'll fold back over for Group A Round 2. I'm splitting up the rounds because tumblr can interpret posting many polls at once as spamming, and each group contains 25 polls, so. 13 one day, 12 the next.
I expect to start polls by Wednesday, May 31, but I may be a little later than that. I'll keep you updated.
The polls will be tagged with 'obscurecharactershowdown,' 'obscure poll,' and their group letter and round number.
Under the cut is the groups and matchups. Thank you all for your submissions, and I'm sorry if your submission didn't get in! If it was a submission for your OC, a mythological figure, a Real Life Thing, an album character, a commercial character, etc, then you may not be out of the running yet. Be patient, I have something else I'm working out!
Please don't come into my inbox, replies, dms, etc, and tell me that a character I chose isn't actually obscure at all. No one's media experience is universal, and from my own experiences, I picked to the best of my ability.

Aca Top 10: Hits of 2019 — VoicePlay music video
youtube
It had been a while since their last "Aca Top 10" countdown, and even longer since their previous celebration of recent hit songs, so VoicePlay decided to close out 2019 with a medley featuring the year's biggest bangers.
Details:
title: Aca Top 10 – Hits of 2019
original songs / performers: "Good As Hell" by Lizzo ; [0:29] "I Don't Care" by Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber; [0:48] "Me!" by Taylor Swift, feat. Brendon Urie; [1:08] "7 Rings" by Ariana Grande; [1:34] "Memories" by Maroon 5; [1:54] "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi; [2:16] "Sucker" by the Jonas Brothers; [2:30] "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish; [2:44] "Señorita" by Shawn Mendes & Camila Caballo; [3:17] "Circles" by Post Malone; [3:47] "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus
written by: "Good As Hell" by Melissa "Lizzo" Jefferson & Ricky Reed; "I Don't Care" by Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Max Martin, Karl "Shellback" Schuster, Fred Gibson, & Jason Boyd; "Me!" by Taylor Swift, Joel Little, & Brendon Urie; "7 Rings" by Ariana Grande, Victoria Monét, Tayla Parx, Tommy Brown, Charles Anderson, Michael Foster, Njomza Vitia, & Kimberly Krysiuk; "Memories" by Adam Levine, Jonathan Bellion, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Michael Pollack, Jordan K. Johnson, Stefan Johnson, & Vincent Ford; "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi, Samuel Romans, Thomas Barnes, Peter Kelleher, & Benjamin Kohn; "Sucker" by Ryan Tedder, Louis Bell, Mustafa Ahmed, Adam Feeney, Homer Steinweiss, & the Jonas Brothers; "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish & Finneas O'Connell; "Señorita" by Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, & Alexandra Tamposi; "Circles" by Austin Post, Louis Bell, Adam Feeney, Kaan Gunesberk, & Billy Walsh; "Old Town Road" by Montero "Lil Nas X" Hill, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, & Kiowa Roukema
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
release date: 30 December 2019
My favorite bits:
the little slides Earl puts on the beginning of ♫ "Ooh, child!" ♫ and ♫ "Yeees, Lord!" ♫
Eli and J.None following the direction to ♫ "dust your shoulders off" ♫
Geoff's subharmonic drop at the end of ♫ ⇘ "out the dooo-ooo-OOOOR" ⇘ ♫
J's smooth tone for the melody in "I Don't Care"
the high fanfare Earl gives to the transition
Eli's clear timbre on the lead for "7 Rings"
Layne's coquettish expression and J.None's finger twiddle to illustrate ♫ "getting in trouble" ♫
making it rain drizzle, and Geoff's confused expression when one of the bills lands in his lap 💸
the lovely three-part harmony on ♫ "write my own checks like I write what I sing" ♫
Layne joining in on the harmonies for "Memories" and "Someone You Loved"
Earl getting softer as he looks at suddenly melodramatic Eli in confusion 🤔
J.None showing off his falsetto at the beginning of "Sucker"
the stacatto repetition of ♫ "you you you" ♫
all the vocal antics as they bounce through "Bad Guy"
the combination of bouncy descending bass line and woodblock sounds Geoff and Layne do in "Señorita"
J.None indugling in a little cha-cha groove during the chorus 🕺
Earl's incredible tremolo in "Circles" (How does he DO that?!)
Eli slipping in a quick Ennio Morricone western movie sting
putting a little extra twang into their "Old Town Road" vocals
that fabulous descending riff on the second half of ♫ "guitar" ♫
return of the animated carrot for horsey Layne 🥕 🐎

Trivia:
○ The guys had previously recorded other versions of several of these songs, one together, and the rest with different performers.
"Bad Guy" was included in VoicePlay's "Billie Eilish in 3 Minutes" medley that was part of their spooky season offerings for the year.
It was also covered by PattyCake's incarnation of Maleficent to coincide with the release of Disney's live-action film sequel.
J.None had filmed multiple edutainment parodies with his friend Nikita for her JamSchooled series that were released both before and after this one. "7 Rings" became a lesson about money; "Old Town Road" turned into a tutorial on skeletal anatomy; and "Señorita" morphed into a rundown of ecosystems.
○ Lizzo's video for "Good As Hell" celebrates her history as a flute player in the school marching band. The members of VoicePlay are talented insturmentalists in their own rights.
Layne has been playing violin since he was four years old, primarily studying the Suzuki method, and was a member of the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra. He also learned a bit of piano from his mom, and knows enough drum kit technique to convincingly mime while he beatboxes.
Geoff has played piano since middle school, studying both classical and jazz techniques. He also knows a little guitar, and learned to play the harmonica for a stint in the Blues Brothers show at Universal Studios.
Earl played trumpet and french horn through middle school and high school band.
Eli plays a bit of both piano and guitar, some of which he honed during his days in various rock bands.
J.None plays a number of instruments "passably" but doesn't consider himself proficient in any of them. They include piano, violin, guitar, accordion, saxophone, and clarinet.
○ The main melody of "Memories" contains a very recognizable portion of Pachelbel's "Canon in D", which (surprisingly) hasn't yet been included in any of VoicePlay's classical pieces or mashups.

Give us 10 random facts about the new catto?
YAYYY THANK U! CAT FACTS!
Nona is a lesbian and in the beginning of the personal story she's dating reeva, who's also the only survivor of the Soul warband after the tutorial instance
2. also more Reeva facts because i love her and i really like that she's just kind of following you everywhere throughout early personal story: since she's part of the Soul warband, her surname is Brightsoul!
3. Nona has weak eyesight on her left eye, it's been like this since birth and has been very slowly and gradually getting worse. she will probably be completely blind on that eye in a couple of years
4. Nona has never left Ascalon before the personal story! She's generally not very travelled, having spent most of her life in Ashford and the citatdel. She's only seen the Brand like, twice.
5. She's incredibly charming and good at talking- shes's Ash, and while she's good at the hiding stuff, she's even better at the persuasion stuff. getting information from people is easy for her, usually all she needs is a bit of sweet talking. or threatening
6. this only really works on charr for a long time, because we all know how charr are and how they talk. though she's quick to learn what to say to norn, humans or asura to woo them. sylvari are a different story though.
7. i used the olmakhan horns for her, but canonically they're not (yet) glowy or magical. at some point in the story when she keeps on training her necromancer magic, some energy may form around them though! or perhaps ley magic could flow through them? who knows
8. Nona is very smalllll very tiny. she's not min height technically but among her warband and other soldiers she was usually one of the shortest ones. that does make her quite swift though!
9. on necromancy: i'm still trying to figure her magic out, but i think she's quite good at infusing weapons, artifacts, objects in general with magic. pre-elite specs she mainly uses staffs and scepters that she crafts herself
10. she's based on the cute cat i met on vacation :3

9. Use Debugging Tools
Learning how to debug efficiently can save a lot of time. Familiarize yourself with debugging tools provided by your programming environment, such as Chrome DevTools for JavaScript, Python’s PDB, or Visual Studio Code’s debugger.
10. Join Coding Communities
Being part of a coding community can provide motivation, support, and valuable learning opportunities. Join platforms like Stack Overflow, GitHub, and Reddit to engage with other developers, ask questions, and share knowledge.
11. Take Notes and Document Your Learning
Writing down key concepts and documenting what you’ve learned helps reinforce knowledge and serves as a reference for future problems. Maintain a coding journal or blog to track your progress.
12. Stay Updated with Industry Trends
Technology evolves rapidly, and staying updated with the latest advancements in programming languages, frameworks, and tools can give you a competitive edge. Participate in hackathons, follow tech blogs, and attend webinars.
13. Seek Mentorship and Guidance
Having a mentor can significantly speed up your learning process. A mentor can provide valuable insights, share real-world experiences, and guide you in the right direction. If you don’t have a mentor, consider enrolling in a structured training program.
14. Take Breaks and Avoid Burnout
Coding for long hours without breaks can lead to mental exhaustion. Take a 5-minute break after every 25 minutes of work using the Pomodoro technique. Keep your mind fresh and productive with this method.
15. Enroll in a Professional Training Program
Self-learning is great, but structured guidance from experts can fast-track your coding skills. If you're serious about becoming a proficient coder, consider enrolling in a reputed training institute.
