I believe the practice sabers and decoration from Arcann's date night are handmade by him. Of course, he is a man of intense devotion!
Did you know? The plaque on his decoration says "my purpose lies with you" (a quote from Unmasked Regret) in Aurebesh.

"Live Action" SWTOR ship: the Flashfire
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Attempted to make another "live action"-style version of a ship from Star Wars: The Old Republic in Blender. This time it's the Flashfire scout ship from the Galactic Starfighter pvp gamemode. I decided to place it on the landing platform of the new Copero stronghold because of its beautiful scenery.
I even fully detailed the interior of the cockpit, which required a lot of "making stuff up" because the only way to see the interior of the ship in-game is by using the mount version of the ship, and that interior is not very detailed at all. I took inspiration from the aesthetics of X-Wing cockpit details for this.
The exterior remains pretty faithful to its in-game appearance, for the most part, but I did have to re-interpret a lot of details to bring the scale of it to a believable place. In some places that meant increasing the level of detail and making greeble parts with thinner shapes, and in some places that actually meant reducing the amount of detail and eliminating unnecessary panel lines that I feel wouldn't be in line with how ships appear in live-action Star Wars.
Texturing this baby was a lot of work, but I really wanted to make the surfaces feel real. I used directional smearing textures in the roughness and sheen weight channels, to create the appearance that the ship had been hurriedly cleaned off with a rag, but perhaps not very thoroughly, so the layers of grease and grime had just been smeared across the surface. This is especially visible in places where I added streaks of soot; I allowed the smear textures to influence the lighter layers of soot, but not in the darker places where it would have already built up since the last time the ship was cleaned.
I also created fully functional landing gear mechanisms, which are being demonstrated in the video. The cockpit canopy also has fully functional hydraulics but I didn't render an animation of them.
I encourage you all to zoom in on the beauty renders, (which I rendered in Blender's Cycles render engine) because there are a lot of details to take in.
I've also included a wireframe render so you can take a little peek behind the scenes.

Eight has a pet alien hamster named Taro (short for Ham'tar'orre) whom he extracts a very potent poison from to use in his espionage work; it was a gift to him from his mentor for utility poison-making purposes mostly, but he grew attached to it and its mischievous nature and simultaneously trained it to go with him on the occasional mission. It's a fat creature whose best abilities lie in chewing on wires, sneaking through small spaces, and injecting targets with venom... through bites. Strangely enough, it survived in the jungles of Dromund Kaas just fine after her owner's disappearance but emerged to be recaptured once Eight discovered it living in the bushes around his old apartment.
Lana dislikes it as he always sets it loose into any mini dioramas they have laying around for tactical briefing purposes and pretending he doesn't know how it got in there.

I decided there's no better time than May 4 to give a sneaky peek WIP at what I have been up to the past weeks. My supervisor at Think Tank allowed me to do my own SWTOR character design for my final project Advanced term. Currently baking it so I can go ahead and texture her!! So here's a render of her hipoly sculpt. Hair is just a hair blob because I'm making her hair in XGen... terrified of that...

Just some random 3d prints I did a year or so ago with models pulled from SWTOR (and you can see the print I did of Ciprys that I pulled from XIV). Also, a nice size comparison of the SWTOR ships - those are unmodified and in their original sizes as pulled directly from the game.

Note: Since my old masterlist is getting notes again (and I'm hosting @tbb-appreciation-week this year), I thought it's a good time to release a new version with a lot more resources. If any of you know another site or thing that it's missing from the list, let me know and I'll include it!! [Altho, I'm getting this close 🤏 to the hyperlinks limit on this thing 😆]
Note 2: To avoid tagging the 3 people from whom I got multiple resources repeatedly, I've placed 1-3 asterisks between square brackets after the links, depending on the OP. I give the respective credit to them in a legend at the end of the post.

WRITING IN GENERAL (For those who don't want to die like Stormtroopers)
SlickWrite: Completely free; online. Checks grammar, punctuation, flow, and writing style according to different settings (including fiction writing).
ProWritingAid: [RECOMMENDED] One of the most thorough online proofreader I've ever used. Although when using a free account gives extremely thorough feedback, with +20 different in-depth reports, for only the first 500 words. However, you can earn a premium account license (for a year or for life) if you get 10 or 20 new users signing up for free; (if you wouldn't mind doing so using the link above and help me earn mine, please). The settings allow you to check your writing according to your needs, from general to formal to creative. It has a bonus that you can check depending on the genre you're writing. For example, in creative, you can choose romance or sci-fiction (there are 14 sub-genre in total). And just like google docs, you can share a document, and people can view, comment or edit it too.
LanguageTool: [RECOMMENDED] Another excellent proofreader. It also has a word limit in free accounts, but if you use the add-on for Google Docs, it counts each page as a new document, so hitting the word limit is nearly impossible. It helps you to rewrite a sentence (3 a day), even if it doesn't raise any flags; it's very useful for when your sentence is grammatically correct, but it doesn't feel quite right.
Grammarly, Hemingway Editor: No so great, but they do the basic job.

My Headcanon Star Wars Timeline
This might also double as a "Star Wars: A Beginner's Guide," so if you want, you can also use this as a reference for Star Wars stories you can pick up if you want to get into the franchise; but ultimately, this is not the main point of this post.
Pretty much all Pre-BBY Legends stories: How the Sith and Jedi came to be, how lightsabers were created, the first wars, how everything started out as a high-fantasy before it evolved into proper sci-fi, the fleshing out of the midi-chlorians as entities in Star Wars... it's all so damn fascinating.
KOTOR - KORTOR II: SITH LORDS - SWTOR: The Knights Of The Old Republic games, and it's unofficial third entry in the form of 'Star Wars: The Old Republic,' are stories that take place in an even LONGER time ago in the same galaxy that's far, far away. The first game talks about Revan, the second talks about 'The Exhile' and the third game has both characters be greater-scope forces in the background that influence the events of the game.
The Prequel Trilogy: I never had a problem with these movies. I grew up playing the LEGO games, so I guess it never registered to me that these were bad. But I love the prequels.
The Clone Wars 2003: Unpopular opinion, but this is way better than Clone Wars 2008; no offense to anyone who loves the 3D Show, but the 2003 cartoon is a flashy and high-octane series that NEVER stopped and it had an appealing art/animation style. More importantly, the characters here are far more faithful to their film counterparts than 2008!CW. Plus, Grieveous was a straight BADASS in this show.
Republic Commando (both the book & the game): The book is generally a good read, but the game is basically "What if Star Wars made a Halo game?"
Revenge Of The Sith - Junior Novelization: While RotS is a good movie, the book is... it's just so much better. It goes in-depth into Anakin's descent into complete madness, properly fleshing out his paranoia and his trust in Palpatine; it makes everything he's gone through in the film more believable.
Jedi Fallen Order, Force Unleashed, Force Unleashed II, Jedi Suvivor: These four games, all taking place in-between episodes III and IV, are two sides of the same coin. Both are epic hack-n'-slash games where you play as a lightsaber-wielding force-user. But that's where their similarities end, the Force Unleashed games are power-fantasy games where you are so unbelievably powerful that you can do just about anything; the Jedi games are a more traditional journey from zero-to-hero where you start out weak and the gameplay requires a bit of legitimate skill to properly master.
The Han Solo Books: The REAL origin story of Han Solo. Born of a family of thieves, Han joined the Imperial Navy because he wanted to fly. He meets Chewy and loses his job. Other goofy stuff ensues.
Rogue One: Didn't think a movie that was based ONE LINE IN THE OPENING SCRAWL OF THE FIRST MOVIE was gonna be as good as it was, but here we are.
The Radio-Drama version of the Original Trilogy: I love the movies, but I love the radio-drama adaptation WAY more; as it expands upon and fleshes out the things in the films that left me scratching my head, it has more context to a lot of it's scenes AND it has a bunch of other extra scenes that weren't in the movies that make listening to the radio-drama a fresh experience.
The Mandalorian (seasons 1 and 2): I haven't seen season 3 (I'm sure it slaps, though), but I think this is an awesome sequel show to the original trilogy.
The Courtship Of Princess Leia: I just— this book is so damn funny, I can't wrap my head around it. (Plus, I love Han and Leia as a couple).
The (original) Thrawn Trilogy & Dark Empire: While I'm well-aware that the Thrawn books are pretty much loved by many a Star Wars fan, Dark Empire (I've noticed) is a lot more contested... but I love the Dark Empire SO MUCH. I love the idea of the World-Devastators and Luke turning Dark is awesome.
All of the Post-BBY Books from the Legends continuity: Mara Jade, the Solo kids (Jacen, Jaina and Anakin) and Ben Skywalker are such cool characters that I'm actually depressed that they get de-canonized.
Star Wars Legacy: Cade Skywalker is a very interesting character, as he's a Skywalker who became a hedonistic criminal who doesn't want the burden of responsibility weighing on him by proxy of being a Skywalker, the Empire is actually kind of chill, and everything that we all thought we knew about Star Wars gets flipped on it's head. Legacy, in my mind at least, is an interesting way to end the story of Star Wars.

Hallo!! Just popping in since I've been on hiatus for like.... Near a year (so sorry about that)??
Gist from Jan to now, before I hide away again for finals prep:
Was required to do full-time school while waiting for uni, in order to get healthcare.
Got told that, surprise, the uni I WAS going to be going to was officially not gonna take my GI Bill money, so that went down the drain 😬. However, also got into a new school which, honestly, is way WAY better of a fit?
Entire summer of emotional, social, and creative burnout. Talking hurt, I slept WAY too much, and got back onto SWTOR again!
College started, I now am renting w roomies (love them, great people) and learning to exist away from home.
College has been GREAT ngl, nice area, smaller school, and it turns out some of my fav teaches from Art HS are profs here!!
HOWEVER, workload is goddamn INSANE. 20 pages of art HW for ONE class on day one?? Also curse 3DS Max to hell and beyond for betraying my attempts to make a simple-ass treasure chest 🔪
I got into The Walking Dead?? Literally never thought I would and now I've grappled my parents into watching it with me somehow??
Currently am catching up on a SHIT TON of late work, trying to get work ready for finals, and also deal with a logic class I Sincerely Don't Get.
I will hopefully be back by winter break, and much more talkative?? So sorry to ppl who have asks in my inbox rn!! I have seen them, am planning to answer when I'm not half dead. And to the person who brought up some concerns, I see you, sorry I haven't replied, and I'm going to be taking care of it also as soon as I'm able, it's a big mess of things that I have to sort and prep for before can properly address it. ;-;
Love y'all and canNOT wait to show what I can of my homework, and of my tiny pieces of personal work I've been able to sketch in brief free moments 🤣
I hope y'all are taking care, know I love y'all, and I'm excited to talk to y'all again soon! 💖
