What do you mean throwing sporks at the enemy wasn’t an option? lol.
I can’t remember a time during the Jedi Consular story when my character was actually given backup. So, I made a joke about it. I think my pure-lightside chaos Jedi Consular Kea Fey’lieshan is a bad influence, but in a goofy sense. Anyway, more SWTOR chaos.

felix being referred to more or less exclusively as "your soldier" in-game speaks to how little the writers put into his character beyond his noggin full of sith secrets & his relationship with the consular; still, i do find it kind of sweet and funny, in a way. he's not a republic soldier, not even your personal bodyguard; he's your soldier. the consular is a small nation-state in and of herself
#accurate.#felix iresso#swtor#jedi consular#open tags for My Rant:#going back through rishi and doing the cute little holocron quest got me brooding - as i often do - on my best boy felix#that the writers could not think to give him anything in KOTXX that wasn't Torture Angst is deeply shitty but a little understandable.#all the other consular comps kind of have a way forward that isn't consular-related when the consular goes away#nadia has the jedi. zenith has balmorra. tharan has his old illustrious career. qyzen has little baby clan and also his religious directive#meanwhile felix isn't involved with your order or a supergenius or a politician or even someone with a lifelong goal#he was a guy doing his best at a dead-end job that turned into a far more enjoyable but still lowkey dead-end job#i would argue they could (should) have sent him to ossus but i can see them balking because Doc was already there#that's a little narratively redundant especially bc Doc has an extremely useful set of non-martial skills you would want to center#when telling a story about survival and persistence against the odds like with ossus#(also he was in the group of companions second-closest in proximity to the emperor in base game)#HOWEVER.#because i am immensely sexy and cool and have a huge brain i think i've cracked it#the way to give felix a compelling story post-consular is to put him the fuck in charge.#no longer your soldier or anyone's. his own. maybe even in charge of a large group of people in need of someone to follow#considering he used to be really good at that#a group like...idk...maybe the rest of the people incarcerated on his prison colony?#much to think about.

Arla - Mandalorian name?
ARLA FETT was first presented as as unnamed Jango's sister in Jango Fett: Open Seasons comics mini-series
Tumblr media Tumblr media
then properly introduced as Arla Fett in Republic Commando: Order 66 & Imperial Commando: 501st)
Jusik squatted down and resorted to a little mind influence, the most benign, to make her realize he meant her no harm. It was worth trying even if he was stretching their luck. Something told him he had to, and maybe it was simply that he'd walked by one inmate too many. "Ner gai Bard'ika," he said. "Tion gar gai? Gar aliit?" He'd told her his name was Bardan, and asked her name and her clan name. She stared at him. It was as if she didn't believe what she was seeing, or hearing. "Arla," she said. She glanced at the nurse as if the woman was eavesdropping. "Neyar gain Arla Vhett." It wasn't Mando'a, but it was close enough for any Mandalorian to understand. Jusik turned slowly, still squatting, to look at Skirata. The old sergeant's face was a study in suppressed shock. [...] "So who is it?" Vau asked plainly irritated. Mird watched the woman with head cocked tail slapping. "We'd better have a good reason for taking a psychotic killer with us tonight." "We have," said Jusik. "That's Arla Fett-Jango's missing sister." [RC:O66]
and who at some point became a member of the Mandalorian Death Watch (a group that killed her parents while hunting Jaster Mereel and True Mandalorians on Concord Dawn)
Jusik steeled himself to look. He was expecting worse. He wasn't sure if the dark brown mark was a tattoo, or a scar, or a branding mark, but he knew exactly what it was because he'd seen one only hours ago, or a version of it: the Death Watch emblem, the ragged winged W shape. It didn't surprise him. She'd been spoils of war as far as they were concerned, an animal to be used, and marked as their property. "A surgeon can remove that," Kina Ha said. "Would that help?" Arla pulled down her shirt again. "You don't get it. You can't guess because it's so bad." "Whatever it was, you were a child of fourteen, Walon tells me. When we're adult, we look back and judge our childhood actions by unfairly adult rules." Arla didn't turn around. "It's not a wound or a humiliation. It's a badge." "Explain." "After I was kidnapped, after it stopped being a nightmare, I stayed with them. I became one of them. I stayed. I could have run away. But I stayed." [IC:501st]
So whatever she was a direct descendant of Mandalorian Fett clan or she just "joined" Mandalorians, she can be count as one of them.
The newest sources material introduced two other Mandalorian women of the same name:
ARLA SHALE (source: SWTOR short story "Seeing Red", can be read here)
Ballag started picking fights and spilling blood to prove his strength. The latest and most daring trouble was with Clan Shale. They were an old and respected clan with the trophies and glory to prove it. The body on the screen deserved a better death with a better enemy. “What do you expect with Ballag running them?” Rass said. “He’s going to run Nerak into the ground if he keeps this up.” He scoffed. He didn’t like Ballag. Too stubborn to lead, too stupid to see it. “I’ve spoken to Arla Shale.” Jekiah said. “Fought with her during that raid on Darvannis. She’s solid but won’t let her people be treated like this. It won’t end without a lot more bodies. With Mandalore gone, we need to stand as one.”
and
“A duel?” Arla asked, her lined and scarred face betraying no emotion. Without a moment of consideration, she nodded to Jekiah. “As the Arbiter decides.” No hint of fear in her eyes, only steely certainty. Ballag hesitated. He stood a head taller than everyone. His eyes were an uncanny yellow and flicked from Jekiah to Arla, the tiniest hint of unease in his gaze. Arla was experienced- maybe not faster, maybe not stronger, but Ballag would have to be a blind to consider her an easy target. Arla arched an eyebrow at the pause.
ARLA HA'RANGIR (source: SWTOR)
Tumblr media
The closer thing to ARLA in Mando'a dictonary I managed to find is the word MANDOKARLA which means to having the right traits / spirit for Mandalorian.
Tumblr media
So I guess we can assume Arla is an old/ancient mandalorian name?

last thoughts before bed but I really wish Jadus haunted the agent more or appeared in some really freaky nightmares, both pre and post-Castellan. if you don't talk him down you never truly sleep at night; you never conquer your fears, and thus, he never leaves. you can feel him there. he says he's inside you. peel open your chest and see, you within me, and me within you. in that far reach beyond your dreams, where your decisions play on repeat. where he waits, and he aches.
just. the agent haunted perpetually by him. of course winning against him is too easy, too unreal-- the mind copes by pretending you've lost instead.

Six Sentence Sunday !?
As if my dumb ass can read, tagged by @kemendin
Heartbeats kept ticking past, Darrash wasn’t sure if he should have bothered listening to words flying in front of him or not. He’d floated back onto the ship, followed onto the bridge, made sure his helmet was tugged down tight. No questions he didn’t want to answer until the inevitable crash landing. He already felt it tugging at his stamina, burning up his eyes just like his skin.
Vector Hyllus, today’s in-house lookout, tilted his head just so. His husband wouldn’t look him in the eye, he noted, and the aura was perverse with sharp anxiety.

Falling down a research rabbit hole due to a logistics question that doesn't matter for writing, and stumbled upon Chris Anderson's ArtStation portfolio and specifically a bunch of his concept art for KotFE. And then absolutely losing it upon finding concept art for the Gravestone themed speeders, and the fact that he painted Koth in the driver's seat, which is absolutely a+++ characterization (Koth would absolutely want a Gravestone themed speeder, even after the whole Gravedrog revelation in Nathema Conspiracy)
Also, I had either not seen, or completely forgotten about the early Arcann concepts, which were... um. Definitely a look! But I'm glad they moved on to turn him into our beloved baked potato man.

I had this crack fic idea of Lana Beniko eating at the Star Wars equialent of an Olive Garden, so I wrote it.
Tumblr media
More Cheese Please
One-shot
Honestly, Lana was a bit hesitant when Ininarei brought up the restaurant, Jogan Garden, during their nightly pillow talk. She had vaguely heard of the place before her lover urged her to eat there with her that afternoon. After some quick research, she found that it was a casual food chain restaurant that had locations all over the galaxy, Empire and Republic Space alike. A commendable feat.
Lana assumed that it was going to be a date, but Ininarei insisted on bringing everyone.
“It’s a family restaurant,” Ininarei said as she was getting ready. “Won’t be the same if it were just us,”
This surprised Lana. She usually ate at cantinas or had the occasional ration bar, so she never really thought of going to family restaurants. Lana never really saw children anywhere now that she thought about it.
Then went inside once everyone arrived at Jogan Garden.  It was a spacious restaurant Alderaan themed with its painting of the planet’s landscape with music that was perfect for background noise. They sat together in a very large booth. With the history Lana had with multiple members of Ininarei’s family, she thought things would be a little bit awkward but Ininarei’s wide smile and Theron being there as Tubanii’s date, her time was actually rather pleasant. Ipimnu’s sneaky side glares had no effect on her.
When she looked over the menu, one dish caught her eye. The alfredo pasta. It unlocked a repressed memory. When she was a young girl, she ate at a restaurant with her parents and ate that dish. Her parents’ faces might have been blurred, but the positive feelings associated with that dish were undeniable.
“You know what you want?” Ininarei asked her.
“I do,” Lana said with a small smile.
They all placed their orders with the waiter droid and the food arrived a short time later. The blue pasta with seafood and cream sauce smelt just like she remembered, but something was missing.
“Would you like some cheese on your alfredo?”
Lana’s eyes widened at the waiter droid as the childhood dream became clearer and desire came full throttle. Her mother only let her have a small shaving of cheese and she always wanted to have more.
“I do,” Lana said, overwhelmed at the surprised giddiness  she had over her long forgotten dream finally coming true.
“Alright! Let me know when you had enough,” the droid said before taking out the cheese grater and shaving it onto her food.
Lana gazed at the cheese fall, watching as it went from a drizzle to a small hill. Her eyes met with the droid and she motioned to the plate. He began to grate faster until the block in the grater was no more.
“Thank you,” she said as she lightly mixed her food, there being more cheese than pasta at this point.
“You're very welcome!” The waiter looked amongst the table. “Do any of you need anything else?”
Many of them shook their heads. But Lana, she raised her hand.
“May I have more cheese please?”

Sylvas has made a number of poor life choices. 🌺
Just so you know I spent like 10 minutes laughing because this is the most accurate thing anyone said about them ever pfjdksfjksdfjsdf
like, my dude, you have no i d e a
I was even writing a bad life choice for them yesterday, true a non-canon one but they definitely have it in them.
--but considering they punched a Green Jedi at age 16 and got thrown back at the wall with the force, permanently fucking up their spine--you could say they've been doing this for a long time. they have proficiency in poor life choices. a veteran discount for poor life choices even.
