Mind you, the host actually asked her about Syd´s Endgame, and it was more like in general, as in where does she see her character ending up, and she took it as in: "Are Carmy and her gonna end up together?" LOLOL! She officially responded: "It´s a fluid conversation." But still... 🤭

Doing a rewatch and clocked Carmy staring in awe at Syd when she mentioned the veal fat even when they cut to a different shot. His little double take and smirk whilst she was talking. It's subtle but I hadn't noticed and loved the detail. This man was intrigued and down bad from the start idc.

When Carmy says something along the lines of "when I'm with you it gets quiet. The buzzing stops'

And Sydney tells him something alone the lines od- you made the best dish I've ever had, you inspire me and that's how I know you were one of the best chefs

ETA: Here me out this is the effect they had on each other,

For Carmy he has so much noise in his head and she makes things quiet so he can focus.

For Sydney, well he was one of the inspirations for her passion.

Can Carmy find his own peace?

I didn't know how to answer this question, but I recently finished my favorite book about healing from trauma. And the author may have an answer to that. This is an extract of the foreword.

This is my interpretation of the motives of the show:

Syd loves the person Carmy truly is, and Claire loves the person Carmy wants to pretend to be/limits himself to be (Logan, the Bear, the shy kid she met in school, Mickey's little brother, the broken but successful chef). Claire doesn't have any interest in making him evolve from that. In other words, Claire loves Carmy's protective self.

So, for Carmy to find true peace, he needs to let go of that protective self and accept all of himself, let go of the bear, and let the man go forward.

Do you know what is the biggest indicator of Sydney loving Carmy's true self, despite how little time they have spent together?

THE DISH

She could have loved the dish Carmy was coerced to do by that chef that humiliated/abused him like Donna did (a reflection of who he became due to the abuse he endured) but no, SHE LOVED THE MOST PURE DISTILLATION OF CARMYS FEELINGS, HIS HEART IN A PLATE, HIS TRUE IDENTITY AND EXPRESSION

you cannot get more intentional than that.

Sydney's peace comes from trust, which can only come after acceptance and intention, while Claire's "peace" comes from numbness.

She never let me be scared. Like, worried.

She kept things moving.

She did it by herself.

She was nice to everyone.

She was funny.

She let me watch R-rated stuff when I was a kid.

She was a good cook.

When I was a kid, we ate dinner together a lot.

I liked just being in the kitchen.

She was really creative.

Like, she sewed a lot.

And she loved flowers.

I always felt loved.

It didn’t matter what was going on,

or if I was in trouble or whatever.

I knew she was listening.

And she knew I was listening too.

She was sick.

And even though she couldn’t speak,

it almost felt sometimes like that communication was better.

Like, we really had to pay attention to each other.

And look really closely at each other.

I don’t know what it’s like to be a parent.

But I know what it’s like to be a kid.

And having someone actually really pay attention to you.

That was…
