It's panels like this that kinda just break me inside

But this chapter hit me for a much more personal reason this time, and uhh, it kinda hurted lol?

Lanyon Sr. is far from a fan favourite by any means, but his intentions are undeniably good

Everything he does is for the benefit of his son, and seeing this from Robert's perspective and with hindsight makes us understand his decision much more

It was that bit which hit home for me

Parents with good intentions, and yet, it will always feel like control and lack of love

Undeniably, the way Lanyon Sr. could have handled this situation could have been infinitely better than what we got

But he was also talking to his son, who he already didn't get through to at a young age and just wanted him to at least have something he's passionate about

Like, being able to understand his point of view kind of just.. y'know, sucks

I was heavily inspired by the Bug Days in the Official Tokyo Ghoul Calendar, and used those designs for Kaneki, Touka, Rize, and Urie. My only real change was giving Touka mismatched wings just like her canon kagune and real intersex insects, making her intersex in this au.

(I also originally gave Kaneki two centipede tails like his kakuja to make it easier to imagine, but I ended up changing that in the end)

I love bugs a lot so it was really fun to assign all the other characters bugs that fit their kagune or general theme.
