right okay give me like a week to whack out an actual cohesive reading of all this beyond throwing scattered thoughts down on the table but i'm very stuck on a post which noted that babs' death is figured as an act of penetration (ianthe 'took [his soul] into [her] body'; he is 'dead inside ianthe') whereas gideon's is, well, bottoming (any attention drawn to harrow similarly taking her 'inside' is overshadowed by the obvious Big Fucking Spike Going Right Through Her / there are, if anything, more references to harrow being inside her than the other way around) and i am just now noticing how much john consuming/lyctorising alecto is figured in the language of the former category (ie. not as an act of penetrating her but as an act of forced penetration):

there is a reading that i can't quite get my head around just yet, but, considering the text seems to land pretty solidly on lyctorhood as a rape metaphor (or like, as able to carry discursive currency around socially legitimated rape/sexual violence, i guess is the less heavyhanded way of putting it) and john/alecto is kind of the ground zero blueprint for all that ... i'm interested in what it does to have that kind of, very immediate in-your-face act of like "normative" sexual violence figured as an act of circlusion when one might expect a less, like, interesting writer to reach for penetration imagery in this particular moment. i don't have an answer that i can easily pull out just yet but i am chewing on this one a lot

anyways yaaayyyy the sillies. been wanting to post about them for a while now!!

ALRIGHT, so the Chaotix in this au own a record store! (goodbye detective work, you only paid so much) they're still struggling to get by a little but they've got enough customers coming by that they've got the funds to keep the store up n running. Silver is one of said customers (but more importantly, a close friend!)

These three were actually Silver's main drive to fully pursue his love for singing!! Silver would often come by and listen to the records when he was a little younger (late teens) and eventually he just got to know the Chaotix through his frequent visits (becoming particularly good friends with Espio wink wink).
