my take on Ribbit

I mostly copied off the door image, but I added springs, because I think it would be a good way to sorta mirror gangle (which I will explain later). Personally, I think Gangle was the one who ‘replaced’ Ribbit after they abstracted. This gives Jax a sorta reason/motive to why he bullies Gangle, SPECIFICALLY (as mention by Zooble) 

As for personality, I’m hcing them as a sorta optimistic, not at the fawning levels of Ragatha, but more like. ‘well, im stuck and so I might as well have fun with it.’ This explains, to me, why Jax was friend with Ribbit. Ribbit didn’t care too much about anything, just wanting to have fun with his friends. It also explains why Jax doesn’t like Ragatha and her toxic positivity anymore. His best friend was optimistic and stubbornly positive with Jax, but they weren’t happy, they still abstracted. It made him unable to believe that Ragatha wasn’t lying about how she felt, at least in my mind.

Now for the springs, which is probably my favorite part of my design. I was originally gonna give Ribbit just normal legs, but I had the idea to give them springs. This makes sense to me, as springs can often get stretched out, which could happen to Ribbit everyday, in similar fashion to Gangle’s mask breaking everyday. I imagine Ribbit wouldn’t really care, and would still try to hang out with Jax. This could tie in really well with Jax’s line: “her comedy mask still breaks everyday. does she think hanging out with Zooble is gonna magically fix that?” As that could be, how in hindsight, Jax sees Ribbit’s insistence to hang out with him even when their springs were stretched out.

I should be working on my cosplay but Sweetfrog and the Easter bunny being gay had distracted me.

I am convinced Jax would teasingly call Ribbit “Sweet frog”. Not only does he look the part, but it’s a cute name.

The framing is like a storyboard. I love this.

so, on first viewing of episode 5, it kinda seemed to me that whenever ragatha mentioned jax's friend (currently being called ribbit by the fandom?), he would instantly just... get completely silent, and get an almost vacant look in his eyes, and that sort of read to me like dissociation. so, i have this small headcanon that he sometimes ends up in the hallway with ribbit's door, and just kinda... sits there
