My Jikook Journey

Part 2 of my intro.

From "multi-shipper" to "...wait a goddamn minute."

This will be a messy and detail-lacking overview because I could easily do an individual post on each thing I mention here and delve deeper (AMA!).

When I became an ARMY in 2018, I was excited about the treasure trove of fanfics now available to me. The ship didn't really matter, but my bias was/is Jimin (bias wrecker Tae then) so the very first fic I read was a vmin camping one (there was only one sleeping bag, gasp!). For me, shipping meant I'd read fanfics or save fanart of certain pairs together because in a fictional sense/in another universe, they make a good couple. I think this is a healthy approach, keeping that boundary between reality and fiction.

When I mentioned to my k-pop fan step-sister that I was reading vmin, she gave me a weird look. She said taekook is THE ship of BTS, which confused me because vmin seemed to be closer and have better chemistry than Tae and JK. Turns out, she was right. Searching by most kudos on ao3, you get a shit ton of taekook. I accepted it readily and just thought I must be missing something since I was a baby ARMY, so I read those super popular fics and started to enjoy taekook too. I started to focus more on them because... it felt like that was what I was supposed to do.

It's a common problem, isn't it? Baby ARMY who are open to shipping are quickly found and "guided" to taekook before they have a chance to glance in another direction. If they try, taekookers, who are the majority in the shipping sphere, will convince them that taekook is THE ship. Even if they aren't ARMY (my step-sister), they know that much. As a new fan, you just want to fit in, so you'll go along with what's most popular. Some people eventually find their own way, but many don't. Asking questions is vital, but if you do it aloud, you risk getting attacked by a small but extremely aggressive portion of the most infamous fanbase.

Even back then while just innocently reading any well-written fic I could get my hands on, I noticed that Jungkook was usually portrayed as a lot edgier and darker than he really was (manifested the 2023 JK aesthetic) and Taehyung was constantly portrayed as... Jimin. Especially in fan art. For some reason, a lot of the time, the appearance/vibe/personality of Taehyung was truer to Jimin than to himself, and that confused me. "Why not just make it Jungkook x Jimin?" I kept seeing them trying to force Taehyung into the dynamic that Jimin has with Jungkook when their own dynamic was perfectly fine.

Slipping down the pipeline, I started to watch taekook moments/analysis videos because I thought gotta be missing something, right? That's how I found out people are convinced they're dating, and it wasn't just a fun fic/art thing. The videos themselves were... something. There were just way too many red circles, too much slow-mo, and too much mind-reading going on for me to take any of it seriously. Plus, the moments that weren't exaggerated were just close friend skinship. Hell, Taejin were doing more sus shit together than taekook.

And yet people insist on taekook even when taekook do nothing to insist on themselves.

At this point, it was deep into 2019. Jikook were wilding in 2019. Even I was noticing all the... little things that made me raise an eyebrow. The touches that lingered just too long in rather intimate areas, the fond/awed looks at each other, the shameless flirting, the complete lack of physical boundaries, and the normalness of it all between them. That's telling. Even though I was mainly a taekooker with a shit ton of fanart and fics saved to my phone, if you looked at my liked YouTube videos around that time, I had jikook moments videos saved, not taekook, because their moments were just more fun/juicier to watch overall. They just interacted differently than they did with other members.

A quick example would be a video compilation of taekook holding hands. Sure, they're holding hands, maybe even interlocking fingers, but they're usually standing side by side and looking in different directions or just having a neutral expression. But if you watch a jikook one, not only is it much longer, but it's just different. I feel like I'm interrupting sometimes. Even in such a simple action like holding hands, there's a softness, an intimacy there that doesn't exist in taekook. Jikook wouldn't just be holding hands (usually for absolutely no reason), they'd be looking into each other's eyes, smiling sweetly, fully turned toward each other, attention completely captured by the other. How can I explain the look in their eyes? It just doesn't exist with vmin, yoonmin, jihope, etc.

Sidebar: All of those pairs have flirty/sus moments as most really close friendship dynamics do, but they're lighthearted to me and never invoked a true sense of.... whoa whoa whoa, hang on. If Jungkook and Jimin were my close friends IRL and I saw the way they are together, my alarms would go off. As either, "Oh my god, they're fucking," or "Oh my god, they wanna fuck each other." People always say, "Oh, Jimin's like that with everyone." No. No, he's not. Pay attention. Really pay attention to the differences in the dynamics between members. None of them have the "same" relationship. Especially pay attention to how the rest of the members react to Jikook.

Anyway,

So here I was noticing this... deeper intimacy in simple interactions with those two (because I'm a human being with eyes and life experience), and yet my Twitter timeline would just dismiss them entirely. "I love their friendship," "Wow their brotherhood is so beautiful," and "They're all so close," and normally these statements wouldn't bother me because technically they're true, but I started noticing that taekook or yoonmin would brush shoulders and everyone would be like, "Omg taekook/yoonmin married/boyfriends/real," over nothing. Their moments are cute/sweet/funny, but never more than that. The blatant hypocrisy did frustrate me a little, but ultimately I didn't overthink it; I didn't want to be delulu or look too deeply into anything because I still thought I must be missing something. Taekook is the most popular for a reason, right? Right?

But Taekook died for me when Tae told Taekookers to get out of their imagination. I respected that from him and took it at face value. It was the most aggressive shutdown of shipping we've ever had. I couldn't brush him off. It's disrespectful. He's uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, over the next couple of years, Jungkook and Jimin only got more suspicious in the minor interactions and in the big staple moments. Rosebowl. Hickeygate. Etc. Everyone was bending over backward trying to explain away the things these two did with each other, and it's always the same excuses. I was also trying extremely hard to think of any reason other than the simplest one because I didn't want to be delulu.

Because there was no way two members of a boyband were actually in a long-term relationship together. Especially in a conservative country.

Ridiculous. Unrealistic. Delulu.

I was basically telling myself in a mirror that they were just extra super duper close friends with muddy boundaries that meant sucking ears and giving neck hickeys was okay. I did allow there to be the thought that, maybe they're friends with benefits and that unavoidable intimacy now bleeds through into their regular interactions.

That opinion carried until 2023.

2023.

The year so many jikookers gave up and bemoaned that those two weren't close anymore or had broken up is the year that finally convinced me.

What tipped me over?

Jungkook's vlives.

The way he kept watching videos of Jimin when he could just phone him. It reminded me of me watching Jimin, but I'm just a fan; I watch those videos because it's the only way I can appease my yearning to be close to and connected to Jimin, and absorb everything that he does or says or is.

Jungkook doesn't have that limitation, so why's he sitting there like a lovesick puppy with the fondest/most loving eyes when he could have Jimin over with just a call? Why's he sitting there looking like he's also yearning for something he can't have like us, the fans, when he can have it? He has Jimin's number. You don't need to watch yourself tease Jimin. You can just go do it. Just text him, bro.

It felt like he just wanted to bask in Jimin without interruption, without distraction, without having to force his attention elsewhere. Beyond being incredibly sweet, it also felt like Jungkook was making a statement, a point, because he kept doing it. Why? Is he somehow obsessed with his friend and bandmate whom he's seen almost every day for over a decade? If it was to promote him, he really didn't have to do all that? He didn't do it for the others, not to that extent.

Watching Jimin, talking about Jimin, singing Jimin's songs, fkn playing Letter on guitar. (The naked vlive flirting session? Lord, what.)

The man kept having vlives with a significant Jimin focus. He insisted on it enough times that it felt like he was trying to slap some sense into me. His insistence bothered me enough for me to finally do a deep dive into jikook.

Down the rabbit hole, I went. The more I learned, the more my jaw dropped. Where the fuck was all this info on my timeline when these motherfuckers were celebrating the most basic kpop boy interactions as if they were wedding vows? I even ended up seeing pictures/info we as fans were never meant to see at the bottom of that hole. If you know, you know.

Eventually, I ended up on this video (bless this fucking channel).

I want everyone to understand that I had zero knowledge of established relationship timeline theories. I went into this video blind, just trying to find the point in time when JK started to warm up to Jimin. That's not what I found. I found something so much better.

Especially 2013-2015 had me in awe. I think I cried. Jimin and Jungkook had a fattest, cutest mutual crush on each other. Absolutely. And because they were young, not that famous, and still rookies with media and camera training, we get a lot of insight into those two that we wouldn't get in later years when they learned how to mask and behave more "idol"-like. Jimin was especially loud, almost sadly loud. If you haven't watched the timeline of at least those early years, I implore you to. It actually blew my mind and broke/healed my heart. It's really bittersweet to see two teenage boys with little to no experience in anything romantic trying to come to terms with themselves while also coming to terms with each other. It's like watching a coming-of-age romance movie.

I saw clear shifts from when the relationship hit turning points in certain years. I proposed a timeline in my head based on that. Imagine my fucking surprise when I found out other people have also come up with timelines, and more surprising yet, they were all unbelievably similar to mine, down to what changed in what half of the year. I, who had no previous knowledge that this was even a thing. I just noticed it all on my own. We were all seeing the same thing. The same changes. No red circles, no slow-mo, no mind reading. It's all in the body language.

I panicked a little because overall it seemed too good to be true, so I reached out to a taekooker friend to send me her best evidence videos and receipts because I just had to make sure I wasn't going totally delulu here. I needed to see that the other biggest ship had interactions and moments on the same level with that same consistency, maybe even their very own relationship timeline to bring me back down to Earth. But... there's nothing. Really, there's nothing between taekook. Not one moment where I was like, oh? You'll find hours-long jikook content videos that are absolutely jam-packed with content, significant content, but that sort of depth just doesn't exist for taekook. Instead, you get conspiracy theories.

I watched most of the videos on that best of jikook channel and several other staple channels. It wasn't as if I bought into everything presented. I still rolled my eyes at many things that were blown out of proportion by some creators, and jikook isn't free from red circles and slow-mo and bullshit. And yet, I was still overwhelmed by the mountain of crisp receipts dumped on my head.

Jikook have much, much more solid evidence supporting the theory that they are together than evidence against it. I took the facts as they are, took my social experiences for what they are, took my psychology background for what it is, and concluded that they are most likely together, probability-wise. At the very least, they are the ONLY pair in BTS that have ANY legitimate possibility of being romantically involved. If jikook isn't real, then none of the other ships have any hope whatsoever, let's not kid ourselves. It's them or none of them.

They also have much, much more evidence that they are together than with any random man or woman you wanna throw at them. There needs to be valuable evidence or a total shutdown for me to tip the scale. I'm going to need Jimin or Jungkook to state, "I am not dating anyone at all," or "Get out of your imagination," or a bighit relationship announcement, or a clear video of lip-on-lip action or very intimate interaction with someone else.

Frankly, I don't give a single fuck about a grainy pic/video when it's 2023 and there's no excuse for that. I don't give a fuck who owns the same vase or cooking pots. I don't give a fuck if either of them hugged a woman. These are not evidence. These aren't even as good as the worst Jikook evidence.

At this point in time, Jikook is still the only viable option with the information we currently have available to us. This is my opinion and I stand by it.

At the end of the day, the thing I want most is for Jimin to be happy. Currently, it seems that Jungkook makes Jimin the happiest (as Jungkook says). As long as that holds true, I'll be here. If that changes at some point in time, I'd accept it.

But until that day comes, what the fuck else am I supposed to think?

Do you ever think that BH dislikes Jimin because of Jikook?

This is what I think....

Ok, so Jimin enters the picture and he derailed the plans they had for Tae and Jk ship... because Jk falls for Jimin. So Jikook as a real relationship (not just a fictional ship) starts existing...

So maybe the higher ups thought it was nothing serious because it was just puppy love but 10 years later they are together and they are a strong couple (at least thats how I see them). Like now they have matured and are more legit than ever.

So I've heard some rumors that Jk has refused to do some things that BH has asked him to do because he has said that he's in a relationship with Jimin and he will not do it. And this has been going on for a while. Also, Jk enters his rebellious phase whenever they mistreat Jimin.

It's been quite obvious that BH has big plans for Jk. To market him in the US and just have something different planned for him. But Jk doesn't cooperate when they treat Jimin like crap and he will fight them and refuses to even step foot in the company.

So I think that BH places their anger on Jimin. Maybe to make him run off or to keep him in a low place psychologically. For making Jikook exist, derailing their plans, and for being the only person who Jk will listen to and fight for.

So, I dont know that BH intended for any members to be shipped together. Like if we are even talking about ships then Taejin was the original BTS ship. So I wouldn't say per say that BH intended for any 2 members to be shipped. I don't think its even possible. You can't fake bonds and fans will gravitate to the duo they like the most for one reason or the other.

Yes, they were trained about shipping culture its part of Idol training. How to deal with it, fan service, yada, yada, yada. But no, I dont think Tkk was ever intended or planned.

Now onto the big question. Damn anon, we have to tred lightly here.

The answer is yes. I do think BH resents Jimin because of Jikook. Exactly as u laid it down. For being the only person who JK will listen to and fight for.

I do not want to speak too much on this topic. But you're right, they cannot control JK and they do not like it. Their most important member and he only listens to Jimin. That cannot be okay with the powers that be.

Taejin - The vlive

Taehyung and Jin are in Jin's hotel room on their phones watching videos of them.

-See? This is why we can't do a vlive together... They'll notice every look, every touch... Everything. - Jin said and sighed.

- But look, apparently they like it so it's not all bad. - Taehyung said chuckling trying to joke about the situation but he knew Jin was right. - And they keep asking for a vlive, we'll have to do it eventually. - He added.

- But we can't - Jin paused. - The staff... - He sighed and looked down.

- Sooner or later they'll have to accept. - Taehyung said and sighed too. - And I'm getting pretty tired of hiding. - He paused. - I just want us to be able to behave like a normal couple and be a normal couple. - He sighed again and also looked down. Jin looked up at Taehyung and took his hands.

- hey... We'll have that. We just have to wait a little longer, okay? - He asked caressing Taehyung's hands. Taehyung looked up at him and forced a smile. Jin leaned in for a slow and gentle kiss.

Someone knocked on the door making them part from the kiss. Jin went to open the door and found Namjoon and some staff members.

-We couldn't find Taehyung anywhere so I just imagined he was here? - He said sounding like a question. Jin nodded confirming Taehyung was there. - So the staff is saying you have to go live. Both of you. Apparently, the fans are asking for your live more than any other. - He paused. - Besides, you're the only two who haven't done a vlive together. - Namjoon explained and the staff nodded behind him.

Jin nodded and quickly got lost in all his thoughts and what could possibly result from that live. He noticed they were still there and cleared his throat.

-Yeah... - He paused. - Of course, I'll talk to him, don't worry. - he said laughing nervously.

- Okay! - Namjoon said excitedly. - Don't forget we have dinner all together in a bit. - He said raising his voice towards the inside of the room making sure Taehyung also heard it and then they all went away. Jin closed the door and sighed.

- I don't think we can escape this one... - Taehyung said. Jin looked at him. - Yeah I heard everything, babe. - Jin sighed again and suddenly he started to sweat and his breathing started to get heavier. Taehyung noticed and got up immediately and stood in front of Jin.

- hey... hey!! Look at me! - He said putting his hands on Jin's shoulders. - Deep breaths, come on! Do it with me. - He said and started to take deep breaths and Jin followed him and eventually calmed down. - Listen, we'll do the live after dinner so it's done and we won't have to think about it again and we can sleep without all this anxiety, all right? - Taehyung asked. Jin nodded and smiled.

- Thank you! - He said holding Taehyung's face in his hands. - You're the best. - He kissed him. Taehyung pulled him closer and they parted from the kiss and hugged each other. Taehyung kissed his neck.

- You don't have to thank me. I just want you to be okay. And happy. - He whispered against Jin's neck and kissed it again. Jin smiled and parted from the hug to look Taehyung in the eyes.

- I'd be nothing without you. - He said and pecked Taehyung's lips, smiling. Taehyung smiled too. - Come on, let's have dinner with the boys. - Jin said.

- Can we bring ice cream after, to eat here? - Taehyung asked. Jin chuckled.

- Of course. Let's go. - Jin said grabbing Taehyung's hand and they joined the boys and all had dinner together.

After dinner, they came back to Jin's room, with the ice cream, and started to prepare the desk to do the live.

Taehyung sat and started the live while Jin was changing into something more comfortable. In no time, they had millions of fans watching and Jin was getting even more nervous and couldn't stop shaking his leg. They started answering questions that popped up in the comment session and Taehyung was getting anxious because of Jin's leg shaking so fast so, below the table, he put his hand on Jin's thigh and looked at him. Jin looked back at him and they stared at each other for a few seconds and Taehyung gently caressed Jin's thigh, calming him down and making him stop shaking his leg.

They kept answering questions and eating the ice cream and while watching themselves on the phone screen, Taehyung noticed Jin had a little bit of ice cream in the corner of his mouth so he turned to him and, with his thumb, he took the ice cream out of Jin's lip and ate it, putting his thumb in his mouth. Jin turned to him and froze, with his eyes wide open. Taehyung hadn't realized what he had done. Jin looked at his thumb and then his lips and Taehyung finally realized and laughed, nervously, looking at the camera but then, he got up and went to the bathroom. Jin followed him, worried. They forgot they were live for a few seconds and locked themselves in the bathroom.

-We are so screwed right now. The staff will see that. Oh God... - Taehyung whispered.

- Hey, it's okay. Let's just not make a big deal out of it, all right? - Jin said. - Let's go back and finish the live and then we'll see. - He added. Taehyung nodded and Jin kissed him gently and they got back to the live. They had to ignore the comments because everyone was just saying that it was an indirect kiss and that their reactions were suspicious. They put on some music and finished the ice cream.

The live got weird and quiet and Namjoon and Jimin, who were watching in another room, came and knocked on the door. Their hearts skipped a bit but Jimin started yelling for them to open the door and laughing and they relaxed and Jin and opened the door. They joined the live and after a few minutes, they all said goodbye to the fans and ended the live.

As soon as the live ended, both Taehyung and Jin sat back on the chair and took a deep breath, somehow relieved it ended.

-So what's going on between you two? - Namjoon asked and Jimin stood next to him, looking at Taehyung, not believing his best friend kept such thing from him. Taehyung and Jin looked at each other and Taehyung sighed.

- We just like each other... - He said looking down.

- And we were scared to do the live exactly because of this... It's too obvious now. - Jin explained.

- And what made you think that you couldn't tell us? - Jimin asked. They both looked up at him to see if he was serious. Taehyung tilted his head to the side.

- Because of the group? - He said sounding like a question. Namjoon sighed.

- I get it. - He said but he smiled at them. - We'll figure this out, guys. - He said. - Don't worry or stress about this, okay? - He said pointing at both Taehyung and Jin. They nodded.

Namjoon and Jimin said goodbye and got back to their rooms. Taehyung and Jin prepared for bed and then laid on it, putting on a movie to watch before falling asleep. Taehyung rested his head on Jin's shoulder and they intertwined their fingers on top of Jin's belly.

-I wish everything was as simple as us being like this. - Taehyung said and sighed.

- Hey. - Jin said. Taehyung lifted his head and stood on his elbow, to look at Jin, who caressed his face.

- It will be. - Jin said and smiled. - I feel like the boys will help us and stay on our side. - He said trying to reassure both himself and Taehyung.

Taehyung smiled and with his hand, he caressed Jin's face and then pulled him down to him for a kiss. The kiss started gently, Taehyung had his hand on Jin's face and Jin had his hand on Taehyung's neck. Taehyung licked Jin's lower lip, asking permission for his tongue to get inside his mouth. Jin slightly parted his lips and Taehyung put his tongue inside, playing along with Jin's tongue.

During the kiss, Jin's hand went to the back of Taehyung's head and he started massaging it. Taehyung hand slid from Jin's face to his chest and he started caressing it. They parted from the kiss to get some air and just stared into each other's eyes, smiling, their foreheads against each other.

-Whatever happens, we'll always stay together, right? - Taehyung asked whispering.

- Always. - Jin whispered back. They both smiled and got comfortable hugging each other and watching the movie and eventually fell asleep.

“Tease” [TaeJin Fluff/Smut] PART 01

Pairing - BTS V / Taehyung ¦¦ Jin / Seokjin

Summary: What happens when the social butterfly gets a fluttering feeling of his own?

Kim Seokjin. The reason Taehyung has been visiting the local entertainment store daily without fail for the past 2 weeks. At best, the variety the vicinity had to offer was mediocre for Taehyung’s eclectic music tastes and was usually exceptional enough to drop into once a fortnight or something...

Since the arrival of the new employee however, his money had been squandered on: 2 deluxe versions of CDs he already has, 5 DVDs, a pair of headphones - perhaps the only thing he actually needed - and 4 posters that sadly stand rolled up in the corner of his room, like Christmas wrapping paper that you forget about when you’ve bought too much of it, buying to gift 30 people and then realizing you have 4 friends to buy for…

But he doesn’t mind. Every trip so far has proved worthwhile, never failing to conjure up a conversation with the cutie behind the till who has surprisingly been on shift there every time… it’s almost too perfect.

Entering the store once more on a quiet Friday evening, after college as always, Taehyung paces straight to the end of the first aisle down which he can see Seokjin knelt restocking the vinyl shelves. He should be used to this by now, approaching the guy, but there’s this adrenaline that fills his system every time he is about to greet the man.

“Hello stranger” Taehyung coyly smiles, looking down onto the attractive broad shoulders of the elder.

Now, usually Taehyung would only go for someone more around his own age, specifically the cute little mochi with the Busan accent that used to work at the local convenience store down the road from his house that sadly moved out of town… He swears to God if this guy moves away too, he’s resorting to online shopping…

They’ve talked about everything over the past days - culture, food, sports, tv… you name it, and it’s given Taehyung sufficient knowledge about his newfound crush, bar the mystery of the man’s sexuality,

“Ah, I was wondering when you would come over here first” Seokjin asserts, flustering Taehyung a tad.

There was a truth to that, Taehyung can’t deny; just coming into the store more often than usual was courageous enough for Taehyung. You wouldn’t think it if you saw him around college, socializing with literally everyone on the premises, but when he spots a guy he really likes, that confidence just disappears and he’s a completely different person.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about” Taehyung knowingly smirks in response.

He knows he’s a sucker for a cute guy and when he falls, he falls hard; always has, always will, the most cringe-worthy example being in the final year of high school when he had this huge thing for the school prodigy Jeon Jeongguk who was placed in a lot of Taehyung’s classes… He was such a boisterous, informal teenager that could talk to everyone and anyone, until this guy sat next to him one day and bam - jelly legs, empty stomach, dizzy head…

“Although this does mean you’ve already broken our little tradition…” Seokjin replies, bringing himself to his feet. “But since the store is so dead today, there’s little point in beating around the bush… Now, how can I help you today?”

“I’m thinking of just chilling out on the couch tonight with a film, so…”

“Then allow me to escort you to the film aisle” Seokjin jests, bowing his head down and pointing in the right direction, to which Taehyung chuckles as he leads the way.

The boys pace minutely across the floor, engaging in conversation about the different films and tv series that Taehyung points at

“See, I really like stuff like this,” Taehyung begins, picking up a copy of an earlier series of the anime Detective Conan, “and it would be ace to collect stuff like this, but I kind of think it’s worthless when it’s all available online, like I don’t think it’s good enough to pay for when it’s all free…”

“Yeah, I feel you man, like some things are worth buying even when they’re available for free online, and it’s nicer to have a solid copy of something, but there are some series that can feel a little repetitive in that sense I suppose… So like what you have there, I feel is more something that is nice to watch one or two episodes of to kill an hour or take a break from a challenging task… I probably shouldn’t be saying this when I work in a store like this though, right?” Seokjin laughs.

They move onto the film section of the DVD aisle, inspecting the shelves that hold special offers. All the ‘classics’ that everyone has known and seen that show up on normal tv channels every weekend… With some exceptions.

“Ah…” Seokjin mildly grins, pointing at a darker dvd case. “Have you seen it?”

“Uh, I… Yes” Taehyung hesitantly replies, not wanting to seem like a complete and utter pervert as he registers which DVD Seokjin is talking about…

“Everyone always raves about it, but I don’t know… What did you think of it?”

Taehyung at this point is having an internal freak out right now. How is Seokjin asking these questions so calmly and seriously? Taehyung hasn’t even had time to contemplate whether he will be comfortable talking about such topics around this guy… Why must he have pointed at that film in particular? Why not just have a perfectly innocent conversation about one of the action films or something? Okay, technically that film is action, but not the James Bond kind of action… Kind of.

“It was… alright I guess?” Taehyung replies uncertainly, figuring that he’s going to have to force himself to be a bit more open about himself if he wants this crush to go anywhere, or at the very least get answers to the questions that run in his mind.

“Look, I’ll be perfectly honest here with you Seokjin, I don’t exactly… Let’s just say it’s not something I can engage with…” It’s very indirect and ambiguous but Taehyung hopes that’s enough to put across to Seokjin his orientation.

Of course, Seokjin is quite an intelligent man, Taehyung has gathered, and he seems to pick up the meaning, indicated by his tone “Oh, right, I see…” and what he says next all confuses, intrigues and scares Taehyung “I get you there, man, completely… She isn’t quite everyone’s type, is she?”

‘What does that mean?!? Is he like me… he said he gets me? What does he mean by ‘not quite everyone’s type’? Not everyone’s type by personality, appearance or gender? This is mental…’

“Um, no…”

“I’ll admit, I can relate to the guy in a roundabout kind of way, but… Just not with her… Simply put, you can’t really beat a dick, can you?”

‘Wow. Fuck. Fuck. This is escalating SO fast! Why is he being like this? Has he clocked on that I fancy him more than a big juicy steak being offered to a starving dog?... Omo Tae! Quit it with those thoughts!... He’s playing me, isn’t he? He’s fucking playing me…’

“Um, no, I guess not” Taehyung utters with a stiff smile that could easily be translated as an awkward smile of admittance rather than nervousness.

This shouldn’t be a problem at all, Taehyung figures. They’ve spoken about everything and anything lately and have become quite comfortable around each other… Yet this is real. This is Taehyung’s crush having a discussion based on sex; this makes Taehyung feel all sorts of things.

“Sorry, that was a little weird” Seokjin apologises. “I just… I guess I feel comfortable around you, that’s all… I don’t really talk to many people about…”

“Your sexuality?”

“Yeah.”

“Neither do I really…” Taehyung confesses. “‘Wasn’t even planning to come out at school, you know, until I kind of made things really obvious with this one guy around…”

“Oh dude! That’s like literally how I knew what I was, you know. Like one day, you’re thinking about what x times y could mean whilst trying to ignore your acknowledgement of a super hot classmate in your algebra lesson… and then you realise that x times y is basically xy…”

An awkward silence takes its place in the flow of conversation for a second as Taehyung fails to recognise the reference.

“Like the chromosome…?... Sorry, I’m just blabbering shit now…”

“No need to apologise, I, uh… it’s actually kind of a relief for me” Taehyung manages to admit.

“A relief? How so?”

This is it. The moment in which Taehyung is about to either make a complete fool of himself, or say the sentence that could be the start of something cool.

“I guess I’ve been wondering…” is all Taehyung musters before leaving another silence in the air.

Taehyung’s brain comes to a stand still. His fear of rejection is proving to be a barrier, stopping him from proceeding any further. He urges himself to continue, having already gotten nearer to confessing to Seokjin than he has with any other guy before. It would be a shame to stop when he’s come this far.

“So have I, actually…” Seokjin pipes up. “This… this is kinda nice, and… I’m gonna come clean here; I may have been picking up extra shifts this week…”

“Really?” Taehyung enquires, now feeling much more at ease that he doesn’t have to worry himself with what to say next. “Well, in that case, I have a confession to make also…”

“How many of the things that you’ve purchased here over the past few weeks are things you actually wanted?”

Taehyung chuckles, unashamed now to be called out on his frequent visits “I mean, there was the headphones…” he pauses. “Ah, that’s it” he concludes, hands in pockets, looking down at the floor, unsure where to look.

“Are you free after my shift?” Seokjin asks, causing Taehyung to lift his head back up. “I’d like to talk more outside of this same old place.”

“Of course” Taehyung grins.

“I’m really glad you like music, Taehyung.”

“I’m really glad I like music too, Seokjin.”

“Wait outside for me, yeah?” the elder winks, wandering away down the aisle and toward the till where he has noticed a customer ready to pay.

There aren’t many places to go at 6.30 on a Friday evening, and when you’ve only known one another for just under a fortnight, suggesting going back to one of the other’s house would seem a bit off… So here they sit, in front of some garage door at a parking lot, looking onto the city traffic.

“It’s strangely therapeutic, huh?” Seokjin asks, admiring the aesthetic of the lights with the dull evening sky.

“Yeah, I guess it kind of is; it’s quiet and away from people, yet you wouldn’t go crazy from the loneliness because people are getting on with their lives right over there.”

“So, sorry if this is weird and completely random, but it’s just that I’m eager about finally being able to talk to someone who can relate… How was it telling your parents about…?”

“About me being gay? I kind of didn’t tell them really, I just brought a boy home one day and formally introduced him as one would with a girlfriend and they kind of just gathered from there... How was it for you?”

“Probably the other end of the reaction spectrum!” Seokjin laughs with embarrassment.

“It wasn’t that bad was it?”

“I mean, it’s one of those things that a funny to look back on, but dreadfully humiliating at the time…”

“Seokjinnie, stop stalling and tell me!” Taehyung demands, playfully tapping Seokjin’s shoulder.

“Oh!” Seokjin gasps positively. “Is that a nickname for me?”

“Hmm… maybe” Taehyung leans forward with a grin. “Do you like it?”

“Hmm… maybe” Seokjin repeats back, also leaning in forward quite close so that the two boys’ noses almost touch

“Well you won’t be hearing it anymore if you don’t tell me” Taehyung backs away with a laugh, leaning backwards to rest his head against the garage door.

“So I kind of underestimated how intrusive my family can be…”

“Oh no, they found everything, didn’t they?” Taehyung asks with much empathy in his tone, tilting his head back upright, figuring that he would like to admire Seokjin’s facial features as he explains his story.

“Right down to these weird beads that I never even ended up using!”

“Oh right? I actually kind of like those ones…” Taehyung admits, then wondering why the heck those words just left his mouth...

“Well, you see, I prefer to stick to the front…” Seokjin openly states. “Stop me talking at any time if you want by the way, I understand this isn’t exactly what could be viewed as appropriate conversation material…”

“No, no, carry on. I just like talking to you” Taehyung beams.

“I feel awkward now because I stopped the flow of talking about the subject by directly mentioning it…”

“Somehow, I’ll try and continue for you then…” Taehyung manages to assert, rather surprised, yet pleased, at how he’s managing to come out of his shell more around a cute guy. “So by sticking to the front, is that just out of laziness, or…?”

“Uh, no, actually… I’d say far from it, in fact” Seokjin interrupts. “I… I often use my imagination to like make things feel more… real… and since I know my own preferences, it just sometimes started to seem kind of weird and not as great when I would… put something inside…”

Suddenly Taehyung feels feverish as different conclusions conjure in his head, all of a similar nature. Unsure of what he would have had Seokjin down as, if he had given it some prior thought, Taehyung doesn’t know what to do with this information and its potential meaning…

“I suppose although in reality, I’m a bit of a switch, in my fantasies… I’m mostly the dominant one; it gives me such a sense of excitement, you know, to be essentially in control of someone else’s pleasure when I…”

Taehyung interrupts Seokjin by urgently leaning in forward and presses his lips against the elder’s. He can’t take it anymore; these feelings for Seokjin were overwhelming before today as it was without all this talk about Seokjin’s sexual preferences… it’s such a turn on and too much for Taehyung that it has come to this; having to stop Seokjin in his tracks before his words have too much of an effect on him… Although in this moment, Taehyung is unsure as to whether he’s really made matters that much simpler for himself at all…

Though the kiss is forced and very in the moment, it also manages to have a tender side to it with the new and compelling feeling of Seokjin’s supple, smaller pout against Taehyung’s wider, yet still full, lips that might still be a little dry from the lack of focus he has had on himself. Taehyung’s large hand cups Seokjin’s smooth cheek which eventually releases itself of tension upon registering the intense moment.

Seokjin allows sufficient time to appreciate the kiss before backing away to speak “See, there was a reason I pointed out that DVD earlier, you know…” he begins, running his index finger along Taehyung’s chest, pausing at a button. “I can be terrible for acting in this way, I know…”

“You are indeed terrible Seokjinnie…” Taehyung agrees, running his thumb gently along Seokjin’s cheek bone. “You’re trying to get me worked up on purpose, aren’t you?... You’re not even going to be surprised when I tell you…”

“...That all this talk about sex has affected you more than it should have?”

“Uh-huh” Taehyung instantly admits without any sense of dignity or patience, feeling humid now even though the evening air is rather breezy.

Seokjin leans back in so that his forehead presses against Taehyung’s and he closes his eyes. He can hear Taehyung’s shaky breath that he receives as nervousness, causing Seokjin to open his eyes to take in the appearance of the boy in front of him.

As Taehyung runs his tongue around his lips to give them moisture, languidly blinking a couple of times, Seokjin just has to draw Taehyung back in for another kiss by hooking his finger into Taehyung’s shirt to pull him in. This time, there is much more fire and intensity, so as Seokjin crashes his lips against Taehyung’s, the latter returns the sensation, turning the kiss into a passionate one.

A passionate kiss turns into a passionate make out as Seokjin increases the intensity by taking in the taste of Taehyung with a loose tongue, and in turn, Taehyung explores all that is Seokjin, tracing his hands along Seokjin’s neck, down to his shoulders, then his upper arms, lingering with a firm grip for a while before travelling his hands further down to lace his fingers between Seokjin’s.

Some more gentle kisses are exchanged between the two before Taehyung manages to shift his weight to lean and rise over Seokjin, guiding him back to rest his back against the cool brick wall that borders the garage door. Taehyung positions his knees on either side of Seokjin’s thighs, allowing more intimate contact… Possibly more intimate than the younger bargained for as his slowly hardening member presses up against Seokjin’s stomach, eliciting a muted hiss from the tip of his tongue and through gritted teeth.

“Oh man, this sucks…” Taehyung states with a nervous laugh, throwing his head back in frustration.

“I know right…?... It seems my plan has backfired on me if I’m honest with you…” Seokjin desperately replies with a low tone, breath shaky.

No more words are spoken as they continue to plant kisses on each other’s lips, taking shallow breaths between each. It’s getting increasingly difficult for either to contain themselves as each is getting more and more aroused with each second that drags by.

Seokjin can feel Taehyung’s perfect lips getting softer and his breath hitching more with each touch the elder gives him, from a caress of the face, to a needy grip of the hair at the nape of his neck, and especially as Seokjin runs his fingers down Taehyung’s back. It becomes a constant fight between Seokjin and his urge to completely have his way with Taehyung here and now… after all, they’re in a public place…

“Definitely backfiring” Seokjin repeats the second Taehyung presses his weight against Seokjin’s now sensitive crotch.

“Maybe we could set up camp here...I’ve built something of a tent in my trousers…” Taehyung jests, attempting to relieve the two of their hunger for each other by adding some humour to the atmosphere.

“Now if only we did have an actual tent though… That would solve our little problem…”

“I know I’m probably getting myself in way too deep here but…” Taehyung begins, wrapping his arms around Seokjin’s neck. “Hypothetically, what would you do if it was just us two in a tent?...” he enquires, raising his eyebrows.

“Well that all depends…”

“On what?”

“On what you like…”

“I would like to hear more about ‘in control’ Seokjin… It sounds… hmm…” he hums, tilting his head playfully “...hot.”

“Well then…” Seokjin rasps, tilting his head to the opposite side to allow his breath to be felt upon Taehyung’s lips which breaths of anticipation escape past. “First, I’d tease you relentlessly, pretending to be unknowing of how I’m making you feel… I like to tease, you see; I like to see what effect I can have on someone before I’ve even started… I have to have that sense of excelling in making someone want me for me before I get too eager to take all my clothes off…”

“How would you tease me?” the younger asks, planting a single kiss against the elder’s lips.

“Hmm…” Seokjin ponders. “Well, I must reach out to all your senses, so a combination of things… Starting with more subtle things such as unnecessarily licking my lips for you, and maybe other poses and gestures that are seemingly innocent on the surface…” he informs as he indeed parallels his words by moistening his lips.

“...So that’s why you’d always gaze into the air seductively when you would claim to be thinking about something…” Taehyung responds.

“What do you mean ‘claim to be thinking’?” Seokjin questions. “I could hardly have been thinking about nothing could I? That’s imposs…”

“Alright, you know what I meant…” the younger rectifies. “That you probably weren’t thinking about the things you said you were like restocking, and…”

“I guess you got me there…”

“I bet you were thinking about making your face look as… as luscious as possible…”

“Then I’d kick it up a notch” Seokjin interrupts. “ I’d react to things with moans, an ‘accidental’ brush against your skin, and again, it’d seem innocent and unintentional… But I always know exactly what I’m doing…” he growls

“Damn right you would…” murmurs Taehyung.

“How easily would you give in Tae?...” Seokjin asks with a grunt, dropping his head back against the wall. “Would you be patient and resilient…” he begins to ask, lifting his head back up to make direct eye contact, “or would you falter at the first gesture?...”

“You have the looks of a model and the aura of a stud… Of course I would give in…” Taehyung declares, confidently maintaining eye contact.

“Are you weak for me Taehyungie?”

“I really am… Especially now you’re talking like this… Damn, I wish we could be somewhere else!” Taehyung sobs subtly.

“Me too… You’d make such beautiful noises, I know you would… I just wonder how much I could change that killer deep voice of yours…”

Seokjin was intending to carry on with the talk, but stops as Taehyung stumbles to his feet and holds a hand out, offering to help Seokjin stand. Instead of reaching a hand back out, Seokjin just looks up at Taehyung with a confused expression.

“We need to move away from here” Taehyung states, eyes glancing left and right wearily.

“Where to?” Seokjin enquires, finally taking a hold of Taehyung’s hand and bringing himself up on his feet.

“We’ll figure something out” Taehyung replies, beginning to move one foot in front of the other, causing Seokjin to follow, still holding on to the younger’s hot sweaty palm.

The boys travel with urgency and desperation, almost brisk walking and staggering on the tips of their toes across the car park.

Leading out onto a main street through they walk down there quite innocently, now properly holding hands, fingers intertwined, Seokjin making sure to be on the outer side nearer to the road, almost as if he is protecting the younger. The city lights that have a recent glow to them seem hazy under the heavy eyes of the two infatuated boys that seek privacy to fulfil each other’s desires.

“It’s kind of ridiculous how few places one can actually get away from the world in peace, huh?; considering that everyone out here is minding there own business, not even caring for what goes on in the distance” states Taehyung, still scanning the streets for even a hint to the answer he seeks.

“I guess so… I suppose really it’s just because the chance of being caught is still there nonetheless, causing us to be more wary” answers Seokjin. “Um, you can tell me if I’m being way too forward here, but… We’re actually not far from where I live…”

Taehyung flashes Seokjin an inviting smile “Man, why didn’t you say that earlier?”

“As I told you Tae…” Seokjin grins, tightening the grip on Taehyung’s hand and now swaying the control of the path they lead to his instruction, “I’m a bit of a tease…”

Seokjin leads as the boys rush through the gateway and the elder searches the pocket of his hoodie for the house key. The lock rattles as Seokjin’s shaky hand attempts to unlock the door

“Nice place you’ve got!...” Taehyung exclaims.

Seokjin hushes the younger boy: “There’s one thing I should have mentioned before; there’s like a 50-50 chance that my housemate will be in….” he explains, cut off by a voice unknown to Taehyung.

“Hey Seokjin, man! What time do you…” A face appears to be paired with the voice and the housemate registers the arrival of a guest and stops in his tracks.

The housemate appears to be just as enthusiastic about music as Taehyung himself is, the latter notes, observing the headphones that rest around the boy’s neck.

“Ah, Yoongi, this is Taehyung…” Hesitantly, Seokjin tries to introduce his guest to his house mate “He’s my… friend…”

“Alright…” Yoongi unsurely voices. “Nice to meet you Taehyung. Don’t mean to be rude but I.... was... actually... about to go to bed… yeah, so…”

“Perfect!” Seokjin is quick to say out loud. “Uh… I mean, cool, yeah” he corrects to which Yoongi lets out a chuckle.

“You kids have fun” Yoongi tells the two, obviously having caught on to the nature of Seokjin and Taehyung’s relationship. He exits swiftly, placing his headphones over his ears.

Seokjin awkwardly looks down to the floor whilst Yoongi exits to his room as Taehyung lifts Seokjin’s chin with his index finger and the younger raises his eyebrows suggestively once eye contact is made.

“I don’t know why you’re raising your ‘brows at me like that Taehyungie… We’re gonna have to be hella quiet; are you sure you can handle that?”

“Looks like I’m going to have to, doesn’t it?” the younger smiles back, taking a hold of Seokjin’s hand.

Does JK Touch the Other Members More than Jimin – and (More Importantly) Does it Matter?

Since I joined Jikook tumblr, one pattern I’ve noticed is how often the amount of skinship between Jungkook and other members versus Jimin is brought up.

The pattern goes like this:

Jungkook: Engages in skinship with another member.

An anonymous ask: “Did you see that?! Jungkook interacted with another member! It’s true – he shows affection to the other members more than he does Jimin!”

Blog answer: “No, that’s not true. Here are a bunch of times JK engaged in skinship with Jimin.”

Jungkook: Engages in skinship with another member.

….And the pattern repeats!

I love these blog responses, and I always enjoy the gifs/photo-drops attached. I generally agree that I see no lack of affection between Jungkook and Jimin.

But it’s interesting to me that this exchange keeps coming up. I’ve seen about four waves of this just since I’ve been blogging (and the bit of time where I lurked without engaging). There’s obviously something at work here that makes this: 1. A repeated anxious reaction from Jikookers or 2. A quick topic to jump on for people who don’t believe in Jikook and want to point it out.

So, let’s talk about it!

What Do We Mean When We Ask This Question?

This question is not just a stray observation. It comes with a lot of unspoken meaning, and it can vary depending on who is asking and why (which is information we don’t always have with anonymous contributors).

I get two main readings off of these questions:

Jikookers who are nervous about whatever interaction they’ve witnessed, because they are afraid it invalidates their ship.

People who want to disprove that Jikook could be real.

So, what are we actually asking here?

Though not always spoken, the implication is that this means something about Jikook. JK seemingly showing more affection to Jin than Jimin, for example, indicates something negative about Jikook’s potential relationship.

It could be:

They’re not as close as we thought.

They couldn’t possibly be dating because JK wouldn’t do that if they were.

They broke up!

JK clearly doesn’t even like Jimin that much (and my God, does that myth persist in this fandom despite all evidence to the contrary).

I’m also not convinced it’s actually about frequency, though that’s usually a part of the ask. I think it’s more that people have specific expectations about how Jimin and Jungkook (and Tae depending on the context) should behave, and if they don’t live up to that, they’re not real.

For some people, any contact with another member is too much contact.

Does JK show More Skinship with Other Members?

Okay, all that's fine -- but does he?

Here’s the surprising answer: I don’t actually know.

And, to be honest, you probably don’t either.

Why is that? Well, because there is almost ten years’ worth of BTS content. Most fans have probably not seen all of it.

So, when we’re talking about what JK does the most, it’s hard to say for sure without the full context. And it’s important to remember that their filmed lives are only a small portion of their actual lives. We’re already drawing conclusions based on a half-painted picture, and the picture can be more and more unfinished depending on how much and what type of content we’ve consumed.

That doesn’t mean we can’t watch content and get a general feel for the members, their relationships, etc. – of course we can. But the question is often specifically about the frequency, which is evidence-based – and we don’t have the full evidence.

Since we don’t have that, the truth is often left up to perception.

And perception is affected by a lot of things.

How Perception Shapes Our Answer

Have you noticed how some Jikook and TKK shippers tend to hyperfocus on the interactions of the Maknae line?

Often, Vminkook’s relationships are compared and their behavior scrutinized, usually to decide which ship is “more real.” But if any of the Maknae line were to engage in the same behavior with another member, that goes unnoticed or ignored. (I’m looking at you, TaeJin.)

This is the bias that develops when you’re only paying attention to one ship, and/or one specific ship conflict. It looks a little silly when we zoom out and realize that there are seven people who all have relationships with each other, and that the group dynamics affect how they relate.

Every ship tends to value its members’ interactions, Jikookers included. But our ships can also make us see content differently – more meaningfully or more suspiciously, depending on what we’re watching.

Does It Really Matter?

The most important question! And, perhaps predictably, my answer is a resounding no.

Mostly when I see these asks, my thought is, “Why?” I don’t feel the need to prove that JK touches Jimin more through normal skinship on camera.

We know BTS to be an incredibly close and tight-knit group. Their boundaries are very different than those between most friends and sometimes even family – particularly for Western audiences. They touch, a lot. And considering how stressful and isolating their lives must be, this is very healthy for them and I’m so glad they do it.

It’s already so hard to delineate meaning from how they touch, which is why most of the Jikook accounts I follow don’t use that as a measurement . It’s also why we don’t have to edit out or pretend certain moments of skinship with others don’t exist; because we don’t heavily rely on those things to confirm or deny our ship.

And that’s because there’s so much more going on with Jikook than skinship.

Their awareness of each other, the way they speak to each other, the way they hang out outside of work or group situations and then tell us about it, the car sharing, the purposeful spilling of small personal details like “Jungkook’s ears turn red when he’s being sincere” or “Jimin’s breath stinks in the morning”….

You start to get a much larger picture, and it’s one that isn’t so easily shaken by skinship or other relationship dynamics.

These actions sometimes get overlooked because they’re smaller and less overt. They’re also less visible for people who are looking for a more fictional expression of love and romance. But they're there, and they're very telling.

Being a Korean/Korean-American, I’ve had my fair share of people trying to speak Korean to me ( I don’t mind it). What I do mind is being fetishized. I’m going to be honest, hearing someone use the term oopa 오빠 in a sexual way is gross. Hearing them try to use a Korean word in everyday conversations among non-Koreans is weird. For example, oppa promised to meet my chingus. I really saranghae oppa a lot. Chincha chincha sarang him. 😰NO.

42. Do you think it’s okay to buy non-official merchandise, i.e. from Wish/ AliExpress/random seller on eBay or Amazon? Why or why not?

On one hand, no, because the money spent on official merchandise goes toward your group and it’s company. However, if you can’t afford the official merchandise, I guess in a way, you’re still getting the band’s name out there, so......idk?

43. Have you ever tried to emulate your idol’s style or behavior, whether on purpose or instinctively?

I used to wear a lot of uncomfortable clothes (all in the name of fashion) but now Jin has inspired me to wear comfy clothes more often. 👟

44. Do you like aegyo?

It all depends on who is doing it, and what kind. I hate aegyo where they aren’t being funny or self aware about it.

45. Do you think someone who isn’t Asian or part Asian will make it in the k-pop industry?

Yeeeeeesssshhhhh, this is a loaded question. Honestly, without wanting to offend everyone, not really. Unless that someone grew up in Korea, can speak Korean pretty well, understands cultural/societal rules and norms, and trains hard for years just like every other k-pop trainee, no. Even with all of that, Koreans can be really harsh when it comes to beauty standards (even racist sometimes), so that person will have to work ten times harder than everyone else to be successful (which isn’t right, but it is what it is right now).

46. Do you think your bias would ever marry/date someone that isn’t Korean or East Asian (be honest)?

Yikes! Ummmmm Jin seems to appreciate all of his fans, Korean or globally, but I think that he will probably end up choosing someone Korean.

47. If you and your bias were friends, would you get along all of the time or fight all of the time?

Most of the time we would get along, but we have very similar personalities, so it could lead to some fights. 🥊

48. If you and your bias were dating, would you have a push-pull relationship, or be lovey-dovey?

I think we would have more of a friendship based relationship, rather than either of those.

49. Although you support your bias, if you could change one thing about them, what would it be?

Not one thing.

50. What is the first feeling that comes to mind when you think of your bias?

51. What are your thoughts/wishes/prayers for your bias now and in the future?

Same with me, Taejin just had all the distinguished attributes of an obvious relationship since the first BTS video I saw in my life. To be honest I have never seen two idols or two celebrities with such a strong bond and clearly defined mutual affection as Jin and V. And it’s not just fan-service banter or even physical attraction, between Jin and V we can see genuine mutual romantic affection and that is what makes them so special and unique.

Yes, Jin and V wore matching bracelets for a long period from 2015-early 2016, they also shared another bracelet in various occasions from 2015 until 2016 and there is the current Gucci bracelet. So lets do a masterpost. 

1. TAEJIN BRACELETS | Engraved cuff bracelets.

The iconic Taejin cuff bracelets, (first?) seen on that 2015 Vlive in Thailand. Jin wore this matching bracelet until late 2016. It was a couple bracelet made in sterling silver and it had a custom made engraved message on it. These types of bracelets are often used by couples or loved ones, there is a love quote outside and the lovers initials on the inside of the bracelet. Notice that this is not a random bracelet that you can find on any shop, the Taejin cuff bracelet is special and most likely custom made.

Because the couple cuff thing happened in 2015 Thailand, we can assume Taejin were already close enough to be rocking a matching engraved bracelet by mid-end 2015. The date of the bracelet is important to understand a bit better the Taejin timeline since some people are quite confused by Jin and V’s behaviour and their erratic interaction back then. If you ask me, Taejin were already in a relationship in mid 2015. They kissed on stage, they were wearing matching bracelets, Jin was in a behaviour and public-image transition and Taehyung was already displaying a possessiveness and clinginess towards Jin that was unthinkable when he had a very well documented (and platonic) romantic obsession with Jin. 

2. TAEJIN BRACELET | The rope themed cuff bracelet

This is another Taejin matching sterling silver cuff bracelet Jin and V wore this bracelet in various occasions from 2015 until 2016. These are matching cuff bracelets, both in in silver with a distinguished rope type of design in the middle of the cuff. Jin ofter wore if together with the Taejin engraved cuff.

I don’t remember seeing Jin wearing any of the Taejin bracelets in BV2 (Taejin wear Gucci bracelets in 2017 but not matching ones), but he still wears the engraved bracelet from time to time, the Tajin bracelet still is Jin’s most worn piece of jewelry. I think Jin likes to do those romantic things for Taehyung cause he knows he cares about this kind of stuff as we saw on BV2 with the matching hats and also with his obsession with buying Jin designer clothes and matching outfits. Remember in BV2 when V gets Jin the matching hat and Jin says cause he bought it for him, he will wear it every single day in Hawaii? So yeah, that’s how Jin is, a romantic boy! Also couple outfits/items is a huge thing in Korea and Japan, they consider it a romantic kawaii gesture and a proof of affection.

Another thing to keep in mind, all BTS members like to wear similar-share stuff and some shippers use that as a proof of their ships. It got to such extreme that about a month ago a V’kook shipper bought them a Tiffanys couple rings and gave it to them separately at a fan meeting. Both Taehyung and Jungkook wore the ring cause they had no idea the shipper gave the rings as an intention to legitimize V’kook. When Taehyung noticed it was a couple ring he immediately took it off and gave his away to Kookie. Some huge BTS youtube fan channels claimed this was a proof V’kook was engaged. LOL can you imagine the desperation (not to mention the disrespect) to deceive V and Kookie to make the imaginary ship less delusional? So let’s not jump to conclusions when any of the boys wear the same stuff or ‘couple’ items cause sometimes it is a fan gift, sometimes it’s their stylist choice or sometimes it is cause of their close brotherhood.

But you know, Jin and Taehyung’s decision to wear a custom matching bracelets was their own. The Puma couple hoodie was definitely not a fan gift and neither was the BV2 couple hats Taehyung bought for them or their choice to dress in matching outfits quite often or his current obsession to dress Jin in his own Gucci items or Burberry. Also the Gucci ring was something V himself got for Jin on their Las Vegas date. None of those evidences belong to a crazy conspiracy created by the fandom to prove a fictional chip. This is about their choices made in their private lives and it has nothing to do with fan-service or a commercial ship push. 

So you are not overthinking. By the end of the day the explanation is quite simple: Jin and V probably like to have tangible tokens of their affection like normal people in a relationship often do.

I ship Taejin and follow a couple of blogs. I get angry when the bloggers get anon hate from Vkook, Vmin, and V Hope shippers. One TaeJin blogger gets so much hate that she stops posting frequently. I don't know why Jin antis can't leave us Jin fans and Jin shippers alone. If we ship anything but NamJin we get attacked and bullied. That's why I get scared when Jin interacts with other members because of the possessive antis especially any ship that involve maknae line.

That’s just sick! They are not fictional characters. People can ship whatever they want, without forcing the shipping to the members, because they are real people. I really don’t get the hate. We have a band that all the members get along and love being around each other. It’s really hard to find. Fans that are obsessed and attack other fans just because they like something else should get reported and blocked. It’s amazing how Jin has a great chemistry with all the members. I don’t know if I am being biased, but I Jin can team up with any member without a problem and their chemistry isn’t forced. He’s just so easy going.

While Decipher holds steady as one of the industry’s senior-most active idol groups with nearly thirteen years since debut under their belts, member Taejin has made strides to establish himself in the world of acting. In the past year, he acted in both Crashing Landing On You and Itaewon Class and is now taking on his next role as a lead, Baek Seungchan, in The Producers. Exclusive got to sit down with Taejin to talk about his latest role. Read what he had to say below!

Why did you chooseThe Producers to take on as your latest acting project? What drew you to the script and role?

“I’ve done a multitude of roles so far, and all are very different from backgrounds to personality, in my personal opinion. This one, spoke out because of the character and the plotline like any other things I factor when I take on a role. The plotline is special given my position as an idol and an actor, and playing the part of an aspiring PD behind the shows of the entertainment scenes gives it almost another layer of irony. The mockumentary style of dramas is rare, and it’s almost a fun twist to the way that I’m able to have a role being behind the scenes while simultaneously carrying on as an actor, and being a part of Decipher on stage. It’s a three-in-one all wrapped into one.”

How would you describe your role in the drama?

“Baek Seungchan is awkward. Perhaps, he’s not the same sort of awkwardness that Park Saeroyi had, but there’s still an underlying similarity in the innocence that both roles carry. Baek Seungchan is awkward enough it leads his dreams to switch over for someone he harbors a secret crush on, all while not being able to discern the budding feelings or the hidden feelings that a top-star idol has on him. He’s clumsy, slips up a lot, but somehow manages to package it in this charming innocence — hopefully, I’m able to put that to life on the screen.”

After starring in two popular dramas last year, Crash Landing On You and Itaewon Class, did you feel pressure to make The Producers succeed as well? If so, how did you handle this pressure and did it affect how you approached your job?

“If I said no, that’d be a lie. If not intentionally thought of, it’s always lingering in the back of my head. I didn’t know two back to back dramas would have so much success, and one after the other only creates higher expectations each time I’m back on the screen. There’s the comments of the audience who are entertained and welcome me, while other times there’s criticisms — that all causes me to have a more meticulous mindframe when I enter set. I’m more picky about the scenes, and detail-oriented, always willing to try out a different method of execution for each take. I overanalyze, and that in turn causes more sleepless nights, but what I hope in the end, a seamless and well-received end result.”

What has been the most memorable part of working on The Producers?

“The people I get to meet? It sounds cliche, but as a mockumentary, there’s a lot of cameos (spoiler to those who have yet to tune in) that allow me to interact with various actors, idols and producers all working together. My co-stars are well established veteran actors, which I think I’m continuously blessed to be working with big names drama after drama. Also, the most memorable part is knowing how the behind the scenes of each entertainment program works — yes, it’s a mockumentary so obviously some things are under the guise of what appeals to the cameras, but it’s interesting to play the role of a PD. Highly underrated job that deserves all the accolades, and I’m only starting to get at the surface.”

What was the most challenging part of The Producers and the role of Baek Seungchan?

“The most challenging part was stepping away from the Park Saeroyi mindset. I was in that mindset for so long, seeing as how the character was someone I had a heavy attachment to. As a result, I found myself adopting the mindset for an extended period of time. Baek Seungchan is similar, yet different to the role of Park Saeroyi in terms of personality — so it was difficult to keep in the similarities without the previous role bleeding into this one.”

Baek Seungchan, the role you are playing, is an aspiring PD. Did your experience in front of the camera on variety shows over the years influence your approach to the role and drama at all?

“Yes, to a degree. There’s been different programs that Decipher’s been on throughout the years, so I was well aware of the different pauses and takes of what happens behind the scenes. However, that only helped in regard to the temporal aspect of how to follow through with said scenes. I never experienced what goes on inside the minds of the PDs to garner a good product, or how to direct idols and actresses to create a better product nor was I aware of the editor’s heavy hand at really polishing it all together — it’s a very overlooked aspect of the industry, and one I found I have more respect for now. So in short, yes but in hindsight, it just made me respect the behind-the-scenes staff much more.”

Why do you think people should watch The Producers?

“It’s a unique drama with a fun plotline. There’s bits of romance that get the flutterings of early spring, and a deeper look of what goes on behind the scenes of idols and the staff that puts it all together. It’s fiction, but I’m sure the audience will get attached and gain new respect with a different outlook through the drama.”

Do you have any other comments you’d like to make to your fans?

“Thank you all for supporting me throughout the years, and I can only hope to give you all a fun drama to watch on screen. I hope you all enjoy producers, and let’s look forward to a great 2021.”
