okay here's the gist of it

Daisuke has been in love with Ken since middle school

Ken asks out Miyako in his 2nd year of high school (her 3rd year). They become a couple

When Daisuke finds out, he pretends to be supportive, but he stays late after school crying in an empty classroom

Takeru finds him and after a difficult conversation, discovers that Daisuke was in love with Ken, and that Daisuke is bisexual

Takeru is the only person who knows this. They become closer friends because of this

And learning about Daisuke's sexuality becomes a catalyst for Takeru's own discovery

Takeru spends their 2nd and 3rd years in high school trying to figure out his sexuality. He realizes he is generally attracted to men

Takeru tells Hikari. Hikari is super supportive and is the only person who knows about Takeru's sexuality, other than eventually Yamato, who is also supportive

They graduate, and a year or so goes by

The 02 squad have a picnic in the Digital World one day (they try to get together once per season) and Wallace is there too. Takeru notices that Daisuke is being kind of flirty? with Wallace? He's acting like has a huge crush on Wallace. This rubs Takeru the wrong way, because he has a feeling Daisuke is going to get his heart broken again

Sure enough, Wallace casually drops into conversation that he has a girlfriend (which is why he just can't flirt with Miyako and Hikari anymore)

Takeru watches the color drain from Daisuke's face, and Daisuke's entire peppy demeanor seems forced after that

A few days later, Takeru goes to a gay bar. He gets hit on by some men, but none of them are really his type (he has no idea what his type is, and he wants to find out).

To figure out what he wants in a partner, Takeru makes a Tinder profile. And... almost immediately finds Daisuke's profile. Daisuke's profile is sort of interesting-- he's got some sporty photos and some fun ramen chef photos and even some cute photos with V-mon. And his profile is entertaining and very "Daisuke".

Takeru swipes right on a whim, thinking that there's no way in hell Daisuke would ever swipe right on him. He doesn't even like Daisuke in that way. He just... wants to be a little chaotic and see what happens

A few days later, Takeru gets a notification that he has a match on Tinder. He's had a few dozen of these over the past few days, so he ignores it for about an hour

But THEN he gets a text from Daisuke like "WHAT GIVES???"

Takeru's like ?????

Daisuke: Why did you swipe right on my profile, dude!??

Takeru: The only way you could know that is if you swiped right on mine 👀

Daisuke: 😳

Takeru: 😂

Daisuke: Am I the only one taking this seriously?? Are you even like... you know... I mean you don't have to tell me, but...

Takeru: I'm gay, Daisuke. And your profile was fun. I wanted to see what would happen

Daisuke: Well what's happening is that your stupid fedora pics are now seared into my brain

Takeru: You CHOSE to swipe right, Daisuke

Daisuke: Whatever

Takeru: You wanna grab dinner or something?

Daisuke: I guess I MUST want to grab dinner 'cause I'm CLEARLY into you because I swiped right

Takeru: 🤔

Daisuke: Fine, let's grab dinner

They grab dinner

They talk about Takeru realizing his sexuality back in high school, to which Daisuke says he wishes he knew, because he could have used a queer friend back then. Takeru says it was kind of because of Daisuke that he started thinking about his sexuality. Daisuke has no idea what to do with this information

Takeru asks Daisuke to dinner again, just for fun, and Daisuke agrees. They go out a few more times, as friends, and nothing really changes between them (nothing that they notice anyway)

At one point, they go to that gay bar Takeru tried out earlier, but they never seem to want to talk to anyone but each other

Takeru doesn't know why he's doing this, other than that it's fun to spend time with Daisuke.

Then they have another quarterly picnic with the rest of the 02 gang

Takeru and Daisuke think they are being subtle/normal, but pretty much everyone notices them flirting

Hikari catches Takeru alone and says she's really glad to see Takeru so happy with Daisuke. Takeru's like ?????

Hikari's like... aren't you dating Daisuke? I'm sorry, but it's really obvious that you like him

Takeru has an epiphany that he does like Daisuke. Maybe he's liked him for weeks, maybe he's like him for years. The only thing he can think to do is surreptitiously text Daisuke while they're still at the picnic, asking him to come over after they all go home

Daisuke looks up from his phone, raises his eyebrows at Takeru, and then grins at him

Daisuke shows up later at Takeru's apartment and Takeru feels a magnetic attraction to him. Takeru immediately pushes him against the wall. Daisuke's like oh hell yeah, and they make out

Daisuke: Dunno what took you so long, man. I told you weeks ago that I was into you

Takeru: You did?

Daisuke: And they call me oblivious. I told you when we first matched on Tinder! I said... wait hold on lemme find the exact text... "I guess I MUST want to grab dinner 'cause I'm CLEARLY into you"

Takeru: That was you telling me you were attracted to me? I thought that was weird texting sarcasm!

Daisuke: Take it or leave it, man

So, I developed the habit of just not talking about Digimon ships on the Internet many years ago, despite it being the primary thing that was fueling my creative output for a significant period of time (like… 2007-2014, probably??). But yeah, for most of my time on Tumblr, there was no way I was gonna talk directly about Digimon ships, because I’m always scared about the potential backlash such posts may receive (trying to get over that, though!). A few ships have breached brain-containment: Wallsuke and Taijyou, obviously, Taishiro and Nishihime maybe less-obviously (these days). But I feel more comfortable talking about those since they’re (mostly) rarepairs, the haters are minimal/nonexistent, fans of those pairs are chill and awesome, and I guess they just feel “safer” than some of the rest of the Adventure/02/tri/Kizuna shipping minefield XD

I would LOVE to make a chart like the one @reliablejoukido did showing my OTP thru NOTP feelings though! Back in 2012 I know I made a numerical matrix-type thingy for my preferences, but I never published it anywhere and I’m guessing they’ve changed a bit ^^; If I ever found time to make my own template in this day and age, I’d do it, but alas, time makes fools of us all! 🥲

All that is to say, I’m also a multishipper, and I absolutely have other Daisuke ships!! I have ended up on kind of a personal crusade to put more Wallsuke out in the world these past few years, which is why it kind of accidentally ended up being my primary Daisuke ship (oops). It doesn’t mean all those other ships are gone and forgotten, though!

I’m generally using REALLY OLD American English Fandom ship names in this post, only because that’s how I refer to them in my own head. Please don’t think too hard about the spelling/order/capitalization/punctuation of them, because I’m not! I assure you these designations don’t mean anything in this context other than “the relationship between these characters in some platonic or romantic way, explanation to follow.” TL;DR for everyone reading this: don’t be rude about shipping on this post, and don’t nitpick my terminology, please! I’m old, and so, so tired of fandom drama.

And now, without further ado, and in no particular order… DAISUKE SHIPS! ᕕ(ᐛ) ᕗ

Daiyako (Miyako/Daisuke)

I love them as friends hanging out or casually dating. They’re so!!! Well, they’re pretty similar in how strong their convictions are and how open they are about their feelings, which means they agree on a lot of things but also have the potential to clash a lot, which is a dynamic I REALLY enjoy for them. In a romantic scenario, I can definitely see them as going from arguing about something inconsequential to making out in about 3 seconds flat (maybe with a side of “how did we end up here??” ehehehe). IDK, they both give off disaster bisexual vibes to me, and I’m 100% here for that!

Daiken (Ken/Daisuke)

Really great, obviously, either romantic or platonic. They were Jogress partners (cue chorus of “oh my god, they were Jogress partners…”). I actually um. Don’t have a lot to say about this ship, but I do enjoy seeing it on my dash! Daisuke and Ken’s Christmas Carol and the entirety of Revenge of Diaboromon are all-time classics in my mind and I do secretly like one-sided Kaiser/Daisuke or mutual Kaiser/Daisuke Kaiser… shhhh

Daikari (Hikari/Daisuke)

Like, honestly yes. Daisuke, I am rooting for you! I mostly enjoy them as a friendship or in a “falling in love once they grow up and mellow out a bit” context. This is also how I feel about Junpei/Izumi from Frontier, by-the-by. Both pairs give off similar vibes (to me), but I’m more likely to gravitate to thinking about Junzumi because I just. Junpei does NOT get enough love, respect, or attention in general, and I would LOVE to see more portrayals of fat-positive romance for him, specifically.

Daikeru (Takeru/Daisuke)

So, I’ll admit I have a really hard time writing Takeru, which means I don’t do a very good job of imagining him in Situations(tm), but I have read/seen a fair bit of this pair romantically and I like it, I just also don’t have a lot to say about it (I’m sensing a theme!). Once again though, I will happily read what others put out there. Please, fic writers, help me understand how Takeru thinks! He’s such a mystery to me.

Daichi (Taichi/Daisuke)

The admiration Daisuke shows his senpai in canon is very endearing, even if it can seem a bit lopsided (though maybe, by the time Revenge of Dioboromon concludes, the admiration IS quite mutual??). I do like thinking about them as a mentor/mentee pair though, or equals/brothers-in-arms, learning from each other as they compare notes on leadership and decisionmaking.

Daimi (Mimi/Daisuke)

I loooooove their friendship!! IDK, between the NY segment of the World Tour Arc and the Door Into Summer audio drama, it’s there, right? Anyway, I still say these two are the Treat Yo’ Self squad for the Adventure kids, and I love picturing that dynamic for them.

I think me answering this ask is a bit of a stealth request for (short) fic recs that feature these relationships, lmao. I used to casually browse fanfiction a lot more than I do now, I guess I’m too picky or something (plus I have a HUGE backlog of mutuals’ fanfics to read, augh sorry!). And I didn’t mention it, but romantic thruples are good too! I would be interested in reading… oh, I don’t know, pretty much any combination of the older 02 characters in a polyamory situation (Dai/Ken/Miyako, Hikari/Takeru/Dai, Ken/Dai/Takeru, Dai/Miya/Wallace, etc).

So yeah. Shipping!! I love it. Does this mean the floodgates are finally open? IDK, but you could try sending me another Digimon character to see if I’d talk about the ship(s) I have for them!

If Takeru is 176cm, Daisuke is 175cm, Hikari is 155cm; then it’s only fair if they also reveal the 01 kids’ height as well 🔥

My bet is that Yamato is around 180cm or taller, Taichi will be somewhere around 177 cm but not exceeding the 180cm measure 🤔 But then again, there’s Koushirou. Will he be shorter than both Daisuke and Takeru? If he is, then Yamato and Taichi have to be taller than TakeDai

Regarding Daisuke/Takeru (as DaiTake shipper), I always imagine a certain potential in my head. It is true that Daisuke is constantly annoyed by Takeru's effortless teasing (and flirting). Nevertheless, I presume Daisuke will be the first person to take care of Takeru when the latter starts wallowing in his angst (remember Takeru has such bad coping mechanism beneath his smiling facade).

I think the reason it never happened within the series is primarily that it was basically the first year the two knew each other, and Takeru's just very difficult to personally work with for someone who has a very straightforward approach like Daisuke, which is why Iori had to loosen him up a bit. I think once they get to know each other better, though, Daisuke would definitely be able to catch onto these kinds of things early.

Thinking up Digimon headcanon, like you do

I've solved the reason Takeru became a writer. Here's how a conversation with my best friend just went down. Me: sudden potential headcanon thought: Takeru secretly writes friend fiction about himself and Daisuke while he waits for Daisuke to realise his crush on Takeru, and this is the whole reason Takeru got into writing in the first place Her: Oh my gaaaaaaaaawwwwwwd yas It's really bad friend fiction too, like stephanie meyer level bad Me: yassss I can totally see that Her: Daisuke finds it one day after they've been dating for like 3 years Me: omg XDD and then starts contemplating if it's physically possible for them to recreate some of those positions? Her: YAS Me: but does he pretend to (or maybe actually) get mad at Takeru first for writing secret erotic friend fiction about them? xD Her: Maybe he's mad for a second, just until he remembers he was thinking about all that stuff too. Then he's like "at least tell me you've gotten better at writing since then" and then Takeru's like "oh yeah I have 15,000 followers on tumblr" Me: okay, yep, this is totally 100% headcanon now. and I'm posting it on my tumblr XD Her: Takeru also adds "I am a smut god" Me: and then Daisuke rolls his eyes and threatens to buy him another hat Her: A really terrible one Me: but Takeru wears it anyway, because he loves Daisuke Her: ofc

架谷成美「希少野生動物と私」

総会の後、午後２時からプロジェクト・アイ副会長の架谷成美さんによる「希少野生動物と私」と題した講演があった。ホクリクサンショウウオが発見された当時のいきさつから現在に至るまでの活動の紹介があった。

　ホクリクサンショウウオは、1971年に当時羽咋市立越路野小学校の校長をされていた竹田俊雄さんが、子どもたちと一緒に校庭の清掃をしていたときに、山際の側溝で最初に発見したそうである。最初は名前がわからず、アベサンショウウオとされたりしていたが　1984年に京都大学の松井正文教授により新種であることが確認され、発見者の竹田さんの名前にちなんでHynobius takedaiと命名され、和名はホクリクサンショウウオとされたとのこと。なお、2001年には、最初の発見場所である越路野小学校の側溝とその周囲の生息地が、石川県の天然記念物に指定されている。

　1988年に発見者の竹田さんを会長とするホクリクサンショウウオを守る会が結成され、架谷さんも副会長として参加した。参加のきっかけは、架谷さんの中学時代の恩師でもあり、息子さんの小学校の校長先生でもあった竹田さんの強いすすめによるという。会が出来る以前から、息子さんたちを連れて野山を歩き回り���見慣れないサンショウウオ（ホクリクサンショウウオ）を見つけては、竹田さんのところへ持ち込んでいたりしていたそうである。

　1989年に、ホクリクサンショウウオは環境省の絶滅危惧種に指定され、広く能登半島での分布調査も開始され、守る会でも、調査に参加するとともに、増殖池の造成や卵嚢（らんのう）の放流など活発な保護活動を行っていたとのことである。

　2007年からは竹田さんの後を継いで、架谷さんが会長を務めている。また、1999年頃から、1994年に柴垣海岸で再発見されたイカリモンハンミョウについても竹田さんが主導して調査や保護活動を開始、2005年にイカリモンハンミョウを守る会が結成された。この会も現在は架谷さんが会長を務めている。ただ、残念なことに、どちらの会も最初は何人もの会員がいたが、最後は自分と息子だけになったとのことである。

　講演の際に配られたホクリクサンショウウオを守る会作成のリーフレットには、次のような一文が記されていた。「きれいな湧水に棲むホクリクサンショウウオがいなくなるということは、やがて人間もそこに住みにくくなる時がくるのではないでしょうか。」

　なお、ホクリクサンショウウオを見たい方は、羽咋ファミリーランド内にある増殖池に行けば良いようですが、いつでも見られるとは限らないので、羽咋市ちびっこ自然センター（電話0767-22-7799）に連絡してからお出かけになると良いようです。

 プロジェクト・アイの講演会「希少動物と私」に参加しました。講師は、プロジェクト・アイ副会長の架谷成美さんです。ホクリクサンショウウオの発見から現在に至るまでの過程をお話しいただきました。

　架谷さんは、1988年に「ホクリクサンショウウオを守る会」が結成されてから、会員が息子さんと二人だけになっても保護活動を継続されてきたそうです。講演後の質疑応答の時間には、ホクリクサンショウウオの生息地や生態について、地元の方たちから多くの質問がありました。大人たちが真剣に一種の生物について話し合っている姿からは、大切な種を守ろうとする強い意志が感じられました。そして、そんな大人たちも夢中になる生物に興味がわいてきました。もっと深く調べてみようと思いました。
