kind of in my hermit era lately and trying not to feel bad about it im just such a homebody these days

#I always put little things / events in my calendar but day of i always just want to take my dog in a walk and cook something instead #sometimes I feel like I’m wasting potential but idk . I know i have fun when I go out but also tend to spend so much money and haven’t rlly #enjoyed drinking since I’ve started working out more and feel some pressure to drink when out #idk . also in a slump creatively and motivation-wise . I mean I am having a big work adjustment so maybe it’s natural and I shouldn’t be #analyzing it too much hahahaha #I got new plays today anywayyy will post pics soon #personal #*plants not plays

does anyone have tips/advice for someone who's like. Neutral on dogs but needs a service dog? I don't dislike them, I'm definitely more of a cat or fish person, but I've never had a dog that weighed more than 15lbs and he was more my parents dog than anything else and so I'm. A bit out of my depth when it comes to evaluating breeders and puppies and trainers and what to get and what to not get etc etc etc

(I'm specifically looking for a mobility and cardiac alert dog, so a Bernese Mountain Dog, Newfoundland (the ideal tbh), saint bernard etc)

#tldr the whole service dog thing has been moved from a 'itd be cool one day' thing to an active priority #i dont know the details or how the chain reaction played out but the nerve damage post heart attack is. significant #had an appointment yesterday and im probably moving from using a cane when im out and about and crutches on longer walks #to permanent crutches and wheelchair when moving about at all #im hopeful ill be able to keep doing what i do but the vertigo is Bad and everything takes a lot more energy than it used to #its either a service dog or my dad quitting his job to be a full time caregiver #he was miserable doing that when i was little after the place he worked stopped existing itd probably be even worse now that he #has a job he actually enjoys

#i've decided that after i've recovered from surgery i want a glow up!!!#i want to make an effort to try to feel better nd not be so miserable all the time. it's so draining nd soul sucking :<#nd some things i wanna do is start better habits such as journaling nd reading a chapter every morning #meditate/do mindfulness every evening. do a full body stretch routine once a day. go to the gym 3-5 times a week.#ofc daily walks in nature (i've missed that sm). spending time w my cat nd dog. getting better at studying a little bit every day #i might even bleach my hair nd dye it... i just wanna dye it one last time then im done T-T #smth im unsure of is my diet. i have no idea what i can eat nd atm im so hungry but im scared of eating. so i'll have to figure that out #nd then try to meet up w my old high school friend every now nd again #try to keep asking for help from the personality disorder psychiatric clinic... or try to get online therapy maybe???#i just wanna feel better nd *do* smth so these r some of the thinngs i wanna try to do to feel better :3 #hopefully i'll feel better soon nd recover as swiftly as possible so i can start wanting to do these things #oh and also!! wanna try to revive my interests. such as writing more nd taking photos nd such

The dog I've been sitting for in the haunted house is the most neurotic dog I've dealt with, which is really saying something. She's not bad but she IS completely bonkers. And she's not a rescue! Same owners her whole life. How do people fuck up an animal's brain this hard?

The only thing I've seen even close was a rescue dog adopted during covid lockdown who then didn't understand what other dogs are and had crazy separation anxiety.

#i feel like this is what it was like to deal with me after my parents failed to teach me anything about being human #like this dog ONLY exists to glom onto people and that makes me sad for her #she has no idea how to dog #and can't be out of sight of a person without losing it #idk the longer i pet sit the more i see the hows and whys of fucked up animals #and it's.......#it's always a human's fault in my experience #i guess bc im seeing dogs whose families care about them enough to get a sitter #but idk why it's assumed by americans that we magically know what's good for dogs even though most of us know very little about animals #i feel sadder and sadder for dogs with no toys #dogs who don't take walks or ONLY take walks and never get to be off leash #dogs who sit in an empty room all day with nothing to do #i understand the impulse to have a smart little animal who loves you #but shit they're too smart to be ignored all the time without going a little bonkers #i legit go and buy chews and toys w my own money when i see a client's dog is bored #and it invariably makes the dog better to deal with #IDK YALL IM STRESSED ABOUT PETS #i know they're not the same but people should get cats instead they're better at entertaining themselves

I’m really starting to love December

#my pics #dog #dogblr #22 weeks #she’s really such a happy friendly little guy #and in the last couple weeks has just hit that point where dumb puppy brain switches to big kid brain #she still struggles with overstimulation hyperactivity #but she tries very hard to refocus on toys like I’ve been teaching her #she is very mouthy like most acd’s but she has been EXCELLENT at learning ‘gentle’#now that she has at least a bit of an attention span I’m taking her out walking pretty far #both on leash and off #we live on a farm surrounded by other farms so there’s lots of space to roam #next I need to start reinforcing cues by drilling outdoors / in strange locations #need to work on stay #and then I can really get into teaching her how to herd sheep #she LOVES being around them #and honestly there’s nothing that makes me happier than being out grazing the sheep w a dog #really just having so much fun with my little bud

i'm well aware there are single parents out there working full time but i think working full time and living alone with my dog is about to put me in a psychward

Irregularly scheduled reminder to everyone that retractable leashes suck and you should use a long line leash instead <3

#just one of my little crusades i used to fight for daily when i was a dog trainer #and now i dont have anyone to annoy about it #also if ur having issues with pulling do NOT get a prong collar/choke chain. training and/or get an easy walk harness #i promiseeeee the easy walk will immediately improve like 95% of dogs #gentle leaders good too but take a lot more getting used to by the dog #easy walks rule and i shouldve been paid commissions on selling those things for realllll
