GGY Week Day 7: Free Space AU

and here’s tarbell! he’s apart of an au of mine where tony gets glitchtrapped instead of killed at the end of ggy. there’s plenty of notes about his design on the drawing, but i’m not gonna talk much about the au itself since it’s an aspiring fic that i wouldn’t want to spoil. tarbell and rab are very close though :) they are 100% completely different entities and people from gregory and tony tho. very sentient, they just… may not have very humanlike morals and values lol

i’ve made tons of art for these 2 recently (most in my sketchbook) so i’ll probably share more later!

decided to throw my idea of Glitchtrapped Tony into the void for fun

now I don’t want to reveal to much about this goober because I do kind of want to write a fic about him once school calms down, though that’s weeks away soo here are a couple design choices!!

he’s wearing a daycare uniform he stole, gotta keep some Tony Becker traits in there/j

he either shows no emotion in a uncanny way, or too much emotion in a uncanny way

and the scars aren’t from the ggy attack :)

omg thank you atla live action for giving me the scarf scene

The scarf looked SO PRETTY on katara I was sad that she took it off the next scene 😔

So I had to draw a scene of zuko later in the series gifting her a new scarf mumbling sth like "it suits you better than what that jet guy gave you"

The thing is, Netflix could've kept Sokka's underlying misogyny while also emphasizing his older brother protectiveness (which I do actually like in this adaptation).

He could be "girls are inherently weaker than boys" while also being "as her older brother, I need to protect Katara". Just let the former inform the latter. Let both sides of him coexist to create a compelling character. Then, let him realize that Katara is not a little girl anymore and that girls don't always need to be protected and saved.

It would've made such a compelling theme of how war and hardship conditions young men into strict gender roles. It's not ideal, but it's how they've survived. Sokka had a tremendous burden put on him from a young age, and thus, he had to be a "man", and a "man" protects the "weak" (women and children).

However, women like Katara and Suki show him that it doesn't have to be that way. He doesn't have to bear the burden of protecting the weak alone because women are warriors, too.

More random thoughts abt beckory (aka Tony x Greg )

Tony definitely try’s to confess to Greg by writing abt him like poems or short stories or any of that

And they way Greg try’s to confess is by Tony being his muse and drawing him he”ll probably have a few sketch drawings of him

And they”ll do that but never tell or show each other the only ones who know abt that are Ellis & crystal that’s all
