Last week we @24carrottas folks were blessed to attend a Training and Fellowship at the world famous @agrariankitchen in New Norfolk. What a day!!? We got to your the gardens, see the evolution of new spaces, and we got to all cook and eat together. The largesse of 💗 Séverine and Rodney was felt in everything from the beautiful guest spaces, to the delicious produce cheekily winking in rows on the farm, to the meticulously appointed kitchen, to the one on one time they gave so freely to all of us.🎁 We were them handed over to Gardner/verdant visionary Mitch 🧑🏼‍🌾for a detailed look at crops, natural solutions, and guidance for our school and personal gardens. It was a dream of a day!!! 🌅 Some of the standouts for me personally was of course fellowshipping with my new peers.☺️ We shared working techniques, recipes, advice on how to maximize our time with 🏫 students and how to engage successfully with faculty. I also enjoyed conversations with the two Directors and what brought them to this incredible mission. But what I will take to my grave was watching Australians learn and enjoy making tortillas 🌯 from scratch. Rodney showed both applications of flour and real nixtamalized🌽 corn tortillas. He explained why the lye, why the grind, and why lard. It was awesome! I was so proud to see the truth told and shared around. I could just hear the Tias 🧓🏾and Aubelitas👵🏽 rejoice from Jalisco!! WATERFRONT HOTEL: Macadamia crusted salmon - pan fried salmon topped with Macadamia nut crust served with roast vegetables $33 Absolutely delicious meal. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the vegetables equally beautifully cooked. Nice size meal and very nicely presented. The only thing it lacked was a wet element so no sauce or even a slice of lemon. It was certainly very very good but that one little touch was missing. Excellent service and our wait staff were all friendly and attentive. TASMANIA GOLF CLUB: first meal out post COVID restrictions. Photo 1 - cheesy garlic bread. Photo 2 - chicken parmigiana. Photo 3 - pumpkin, feta and spinach risotto. Most impressive to see how the golf club has adapted to being COVIDSAFE. Well done. We loved our meal. The garlic bread was super cheesy and delicious and plenty of it. Great big parmy was yummmmm. I had risotto which was packed with flavour and an enormous serve. It came with a Parmesan crisp - oh wow. That was the perfect added element. Think this dish is becoming my fave for the golf club. DRIFTWOOD RESTAURANT, Lauderdale: Mixed mushroom risotto finished with mascarpone, pine nuts and baby herbs $28 Wow. Absolutely packed with flavour. This dish was brilliant and the perfect example of a top notch risotto. Congratulations to the chef. Venue, as always, is sublime and we had a new young girl as our wait staff. TASTE OF TASMANIA: Photo one - Lemongrass beef rice paper roll. Photo two - chicken and chorizo paella. Photo three - Taiwanese Beef steamed bun. Photo four - strawberry and Nutella pancake. We are so fortunate to have this amazing annual festival right on the waterfront. The variety was great at this year’s Taste. Plenty of unusual dishes to try and a great variety of interesting drinks. We sampled the milk chocolate stout. The paella was amazing and so full of flavour. Loved the steam bun and rice paper roll. Chocolate and strawberries in a pancake - well you just can’t beat those traditional flavours. TASMANIA GOLF CLUB - Fish of the day (Blue Eye), Slow Cooked Lamb Shank - slow cooked and marinated lamb shank served with Paris mash, steamed vegetable medley and onion jam $28, Sundae and Warm Chocolate Brownie. 1 Absolutely delicious food. Lamb shank fell off the bone and was beautifully tender. Lots of flavour. Dining companion said fish was delightful and loved her warm chocolate brownie. Sundae was absolutely decadent and delicious.
