This isn't Fun Anymore. Stop!
Silver sat up slowly when he woke up. His head felt like it was pounding. Silver looked around the room trying not to cry it hurt all over. He was sure that Malleus was somewhere in the room. "Malleus where you at?" Silver called out looking around. He couldn't see much the pain was blinding.
"Malleus, please. Everything hurts." Silver got no response all he could hear was his own heartbeat. He tried to look around the room one last time before crying. Silver couldn't remember what was going on or where Malleus was but he wanted him. He wanted Sebek, he wanted his father, he wanted to be home.
But instead, he wasn't anywhere he wanted to be. Silver was somewhere and he couldn't even tell where he was. Silver felt a hand placed on his forehead as he cried. Within moments the pain they felt faded and arms wrapped themselves around Silver. Silver was quick to hug the person back gripping their stony textured shoulders and burying his face into the crook of the person's neck. "It's ok bud. You're ok." Silver shook his head no in protest. "N-nothings ok. Malleus isn't here. Sebek isn't here. No one is here and I don't know where they're at. I-I want my Papa an M-Malleus an Sebek! I want to go h-home!"
A hand patted Silver's head softly trying to comfort him. "I know what you want buddy but is dangerous. The flowers I don't know what they're doing but whatever it is it isn't good. So be strong ok? Be strong for now." Silver backed up a bit and the arms that were holding him released.
Silver rubbed his eyes and saw a gargoyle holding out a handkerchief to him. Silver took it and wiped his face off. "Th-thanks mister." The gargoyle smiled to SIlver. "I was happy to help you kiddo." Silver looked at the gargoyle confused. He looked familiar. "I saw you somewhere?" The gargoyle raised a brow before he thought of the realization.
"You must have been one of the people who came up the bell tower with Rollo. I was one of the gargoyles on the tower ledge." Silver gasped. "You moved! Azul was right!" The gargoyle chuckled at SIlver's reaction. "You are right I probably did move. Us gargoyle's tent to move in our sleep." Silver laughed giddily. "That's so cool. Mallie is going to like you a lot." The gargoyle gave him a confused look. "What do you mean?"
Silver realized the gargoyle must have not seen Malleus. "Malleus is the future king of the fae in Briar Valley. He loves gargoyles. He looks like them too with his horns" SIlver replied using his two pointer fingers to make it look like he had horns. "This Malleus person sounds like fun to meet. Who are you though kiddo?"
"My name is Silver. I'm one of Mallie's knights! What about you Mister Gargoyle?" The gargoyle gave a proud smile. "My name is Tasnim and I am a protector of Noble Bell College." Silver held out his hand to the gargoyle. "It's nice to meet you, Mr.Tasnim." The gargoyle gave a gentle yet strong grip back. "You as well Silver."
The noise of someone walking up the stairs made Silver jump. He watched the stairs werily to see who would come up and saw Rollo. "Tasnim thank you for making sure he was ok after he woke up. I had to go and check on other things. The flowers seem to be growing so rapidly though that I couldn't get ahold of anyone." Silver crouched behind Tasnim scared. "W-why is he here?"
Tasnim gently patted SIlver's arm. "It's ok Silver. Rollo won't hurt you." Silver quickly shook his head no. "Th-that's not true. He's not safe." Rollo walked over to Silver and Tasnim before holding out his hand to Silver. "I need you to please follow me, Silver. I'll be able to keep you safe at the top of the bell tower." Silver desperately shook his head his hands gripping on Tasnim's arm. "N-no I don't want to go." Rollo looked at Silver. The look didn't seem scary but there was a threat behind it which only grew more as Rollo smiled. "Please come with me, Silver." Silver tried to hide behind Tasnim more.
"Please. Please don't make me go with him." Tasnim looked between Silver and Rollo before sighing. "You have to go with him, kiddo. It will be safer for you." Silver wanted to refuse more. He didn't want to leave with Rollo. But he knew that there was no use in arguing or fighting. Silver slowly released Tasnim's arm and walked over to Rollo taking his hand that was held out to him80. Silver looked back at Tasnim and waved bye to him before following Rollo up the stairs that led to the Bell of Solace.
Silver let go of Rollo's hand when he saw the bell and hurried over to the glass case that held the bell wanting to get as far away from Rollo as possible. "Silver I know you think this is scary. You are most likely terrified of me but this is for the best." Silver shook his head no. "You're lying. This isn't for the best! You're hurting people!" Rollo shook his head no. "I am not hurting people Silver. I am trying to make sure that they are not harmed by magic."
Silver covered his ears and tried not to listen to Rollo. "This isn't fun anymore Rollo. It's not a game! You need to stop!" Rollo walked over to Silver gently taking his hands in his own. "You'll understand what I am doing someday Silver. It's saves you. Do you want to know why it saves you? My brother, Russia, was your age when he gained his magic and it hurt him. He ended up dying because of magic Silver and now that's what is happening to you, Silver. You're magic will someday on accident take over you and you can die Silver. People die from magic."
Silver yanked his hands out of Rollo. "You're wrong! My magic won't hurt me! If I know how to control it like my Papa has taught me to I will never have any problems with it!" Rollo inhaled sharply. "Just because you have been taught something doesn't mean you are prevented from danger." Silver glared at Rollo.
"I know! That doesn't mean you're right!" Rollo walked over to Silver and placed his hand on his head. "Sleep Silver. You won't need to fight anymore then." Silver looked up at Rollo confused and scared. The last thing Silver saw was the frightening angry look on Rollo's face and wished Tasnim had listened to him.

69. Palate Royale - Worlds End
In another world, Lady Tasnim slips poison in his drink and his death unwinds time. In another world, magic ties him to five other souls and saves his life.
In this world, Mercenary dies from a blade slipped between two of his ribs in the dark of night. He looks Tasnim in the eyes while she does it; hers are dry but his well up with tears. He doesn't struggle, even though he outweighs her twice over and could break her arm with a twist of his wrist. He barely gasps as all the breath is driven from his lungs. He doesn't want to be heard – he doesn't want anyone to see her like this, his blood on her lithe hands.
"You are a threat as long as you live," she whispers, not unkindly.
But he does not want explanations or answers. He only wants her to keep holding him like this.
As his eyes slip shut at last, he can almost believe that she does.

A Gargoyle come to Life?!
Malleus looked around the tower floor. Lilia and Azul had managed to show their usefulness by keeping back the firelotuses for now but the three still needed to quickly get up the tower as soon as possible. He couldn’t run up the stairs with Idia and Azul under his arms disappointedly because of how narrow they were but he was determined to reach the top of the tower with both of them. India’s handkerchief could only last for so long And all they could do was hope that the flowers hadn’t exited the city and that they were able to get to the Bell of Solace in time.
////////////
Rollo sighed as he looked out the tower. “Those wretched Night Raven College mages are making their way up the tower, aren’t they? Villains are always so stubborn.” Rollo shook his head and sat on a beam of the tower twisting a dead firelotus in his hand. “Such futility. Why resist at all? Why oppose it?”
Rollo looked out among the firelotuses his brow furled. “It would be so much easier to surrender to the firelotuses. Those flowers are going to expunge the sin of magic altogether.” Rollo smiled to himself before standing up. “Then no one will suffer as I have.” He chuckled and looked at Silver, an adoring smile on his face, and kneeled down next to where he lay.
“We will all be freed from that cold, dark despair, Russia.” He spoke affectionately, running a hand through Silver’s hair.
////////////
Azul, India, and Malleus were close to reaching the top of the tower. The only problem was reaching the top of the tower. The stairs seemed almost as if they had suddenly stopped. Azul looked around the room. “Well, this is a conundrum. I wasn't expecting the stairs to end before we reached the top. That means though that we’re getting really close.” India chuckled. “Yo, party leader! Got some leadership or what?” Azul seemed a tad annoyed. “Why are you heckling me? We’re in the same boat, you know!”
Malleus looked around the room inspecting it closely. “It seems Flamme wasn’t joking when he said this place was so vast someone could live here.” Malleus kept looking for stairs. “It felt like a straight path upward when we climbed the tower earlier today…but that must be due to Flamme’s familiarity with its layout.” Azul stumbled over a board that was sticking up some.
“Only an extremely agile person could live in a place so full of obstacles.” India looked towards the stairs. “I blocked the way down with some crates to keep the firelotuses out. But that’s not going to hold ‘em off for long.”
Malleus turned his gaze upwards. He already had a plan in case the stairs became an obstacle. “So be it. We’ll have to break through the ceiling to proceed further.” Azul stopped Malleus from moving to hit the ceiling. “AGAIN, any destruction of this structure would be unacceptable…” Azul pinched his brow, unable to understand why Malleus wished to just break through the tower with all his might. “Hm? What’s this?”
Azul spotted a gargoyle inside the tower and kneeled to look at it. “That’s the gargoyle we saw on the top floor earlier. Why is it down here now?” Azul inspected the gargoyle. “Could it be a different one that happens to be identical?” Malleus was quick to decline what Azul suggested. “No, I assure you this is the exact same gargoyle.” Malleus kneeled next to Azul and pointed out the wings, “See how these wings have a ten-degree difference in their angels? And the tasteful centimeter scratch on its head? It is unmistakable to me.”
Azul raised his eyebrow. “Those are such trivial details, it's a little off-putting that you had them memorized.” Idia shook his head; he was just as shocked as Azul. “Wow, this must be what otaku look like from an outside perspective.” Malleus looked at Azul and Idia both confused.
"Why give me such dubious looks? I find it stranger that neither of you noticed those details.” Malleus turned his gaze back towards the gargoyle and smiled. “Look at how expressive it is. It's most distinctive. Such a fascinating piece. I could study it for ages.” Malleus let out a pleased sigh and stood up preparing to leave.
“Wow, hardly anyone gives us that kinda respect. Talk about an ego boost!”
The sound of Azul quickly moving back from the gargoyle and standing up was noticeable. Idia in all honesty looked at Azul annoyed. “Uh, what was that? Azul, this is NOT the time to goof around in that falsetto voice.” Azul looked at Idia accusingly. "I would never do such a thing, you know it. How about you stop goofing off instead by moving the gargoyle's mouth!" Idia himself looked shocked when Azul accused him.
“Huh? I didn’t say anything or use magic.” Azul looked at Idia as if he hardly believed him. “Then who was it? Malleus?!” Malleus gave Azul a plain look. “No.” Idia looked at the gargoyle. “Then…Was it?…” Idia, Azul, and Malleus jumped when the gargoyle suddenly made a noise and moved.
“Geez Louise. I may have moved some earlier but a simple back stretch isn’t going to help me stiffen up less. What’s a guy gotta do to get a back rub around here?”
The three continued to look on at the gargoyle shocked. “What?” Malleus spoke in confusion as he stared. Idia and Azul both tried to utter some kind of response but could barely find words. “The…the.” Idia couldn’t find it in himself to continue. “The gargoyle…” Azul could barely find his voice. “TALKED?!” all three shouted, unable to comprehend what they were seeing. The gargoyle himself seemed confused by their reactions.
“Sure I talk. I'm a gargoyle at Nobel Bell College, an arcane academy. I've been watchin' over the school and Fleur City from the bell tower for eons now.” Idia made a point when he compared the gargoyle to the talking paintings at Night Raven College. The only difference had to be their range of movement. “I knew I wasn't just seeing things when I saw the gargoyle move earlier today! There, you see? I was right, and you were wrong" Azul said a smug look on his face. Idia rolled his eyes trying to ignore Azul.
“Uh-huh, sure, whatever you say.” Idia noticed Malleus hadn’t said anything at all. “Um, Malleus? You okay there?” Malleus gave no response and continued to look at the gargoyle. Azul gently shook his shoulder. “What's the matter, Malleus? You've been staring at the gargoyle in silence. Considering your enthusiasm for them, I thought you would be jumping for joy by now."
Idia shook his head. Oh nooo! Nononononooo! You've got it all wrong.” Azul turned his gaze to Idia. He wondered how exactly he had gotten it wrong. “From Malleus's perspective, the object of his hyper fixation just revealed a completely unexpected side of itself. It's possible he's got reality whiplash, and he's all like, "The gargoyles I love don't move! This isn't accurate to my headcanon!"
Azul thought Idia’s reasoning was completely stupid even if it could be true. “So people will just deny reality if it doesn't match some ideal they've conjured up in their minds? That's absurd.” Malleus still seemed to continue to look on in silence. Azul was almost worried that he was going to have another spout of anger. “His silence does give me an ominous feeling of déjà vu… Is he going to let out another angry burst of magic?!” The gargoyle himself seemed to also be staring at Malleus. “Heeey, that's a nice set of horns. I got 'em too, see? We should hang out.”
The gargoyle let out a laugh. “C'mon, let's be pals!” Idia was quick to deny what the gargoyle said for Malleus. Azul on the other hand was shocked by the proposal the gargoyle had made to Malleus. “What kind of reckless fool NUDGES Malleus Draconia!” The gargoyle himself even now appeared confused and went over to Malleus. “Hellooo? Can ya hear me?” Malleus suddenly looked down at the gargoyle and jumped a small bit. “OH! Apologies… I was so awestruck, it left me in a daze.” Azul and Idia both were bewildered that Malleus had frozen because he was awestruck. “He got so happy he glitched out?!”
Azul was amazed that Mallesu was more excited than he had believed he would be. Malleus smiled widely at the gargoyle. “This isn't our first meeting, but allow me to introduce myself. My name is Malleus Draconia. I belong to the family that rules Briar Valley, and I am here in my capacity as a student of Night Raven College. I am truly delighted you've chosen to converse with me. Might I shake your hand?” he asked, holding his hand out to the gargoyle.
The gargoyle took the chance to shake Malleus’ hand. “Malleus, huh? Sure, put 'er there, pal. My name is Tasnim.” Malleus let out an “OOF” when Tasnim took his own and clutched his chest. “ Azul hummed in wondering when that happened. “The moment the gargoyle called him "pal," Malleus clutched his chest with a pained exclamation…” Idia gave a small understanding smile.
“Yeah, that's a classic fanboy thing right there. He's so happy it physically hurts. Like, ‘Oof, ow, right in the feels…!’ A superfan just got an impromptu meet and greet. WTG, Malleus.” Tasnim looked at the three of them. “You boys are from Night Raven College? So you don't even go to this school? I met a boy named Silver who mentioned you Malleus but what're you guys doin' up here?” Malleus froze his face returning to its more serious self.
”Allow me to explain.”

Urgent: Help Mahmoud's 17 Family Members Escape from Frequent Bombings!
Hi everyone. Mahmoud (@mahmoudfamily1) is trying to raise fund to evacuate 17 members of his family (including no fewer than 5 children!), and he has asked me to share his story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mahmoud found out the bombing of her sister Tasnim’s husband’s house, the house his entire family was staying at, on the news. He could not contact his family for 3 days after that. He knew that several people had died and several more injured, but he did not know whom among his family survived, and who didn’t.
When he finally managed to reach them, he found out that a close relative, named Alaa, had been killed, along with her children: Ahmed and baby Iman who was not even one month old yet. Alaa was a beloved member of their family. She was optimistic and tried hard to cheer everyone else up. For the longest time, Alaa believed that the world would not turn away from their suffering and the war would end soon. But an airstrike took her and her children’s lives, the bombing continued, and the world remains indifferent.
Mahmoud’s sister Tasnim, was severely injured in the bombing. The attack happened while the family was sleeping, and Tasnim woke up to find her body injured and broken, bleeding heavily with bones sticking out of her leg. She found her 6-month-old daughter under the rubble, severely injured, but thankfully still alive. Tasnim's leg was fractured in multiple places, so severely injured that they all thought it had to be amputated. Tasnim’s husband and her 6-month-old daughter, her father-in-law, her brothers-in-law and Alaa’s husband were all severely injured by the bombing.
A few days later, Mahmoud’s family narrowly survived a second bombing on the street, as the people behind them, too slow to escape from the attack, were killed. They hid in their car, watching the plane flying above dropping bombs, praying that it would not target their car.
Given Tasnim and her 6-month-old daughter’s severe injuries, the family used a lot of money and exhausted all means to get them out of Gaza to receive the essential medical treatment they require. While Tasnim and her youngest daughter managed to evacuate, the rest of Mahmoud’s 17 family members, including Tasnim’s 2-year-old daughter who sustained first degree burns from the bombing, are still trapped in Gaza.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mahmoud’s 17 family members (including no fewer than 5 children!) risk being killed and injured from the frequent airstrikes every day. They have narrowly escaped death no fewer than 5 times. On 31 August, the IOF dropped bombs on the tent next to theirs, killing 9 young men and women, and Mahmoud’s family woke up to their broken bodies.
Look at the photos Mahmoud sent me. These children, they are all trapped in Gaza where bombs may fall on them anytime. Please do not look away. Please help Mahmoud’s 17 family members reach safety!!
Mahmoud’s campaign is vetted by association. Mahmoud is @hazempalestine's friend, see post here for proof. @hazempalestine is vetted by @/el-shab-hussein and is listed as #281 on the verified fundraiser list by @/el-shab-hussein and @/nabulsi.
I’ve been trying to boost Hazem’s campaign, but we are both worried about Mahmoud’s campaign as donations are coming in really slowly for him. I hope you will support Mahmoud’s campaign and help him evacuate his 17 family members as well!
Extremely Low Funds! As of 3 September, Only $147 CAD raised of $80,000 goal! Last donation was 19 hours ago!!!
Please follow Mahmoud on @mahmoudfamily1 to get updates on his family's situation! And also, please, please, share/reblog, and donate if you can! Every donation helps!!

Flowers Withered Away
Silver was scared as he looked around. He wasn’t exactly sure what was happening but he knew he wasn’t asleep. Silver could hear Rollo talking to himself and pacing around the room. He felt worse when Rollo called him Russia.
He didn’t know what the name meant or who it belonged to when Rollo called him by it while they were in the bell tower. Silver only knew that he didn’t like the name. He had known that Rollo had been calling him it but thought it must have been an accident. To hear that it was purposeful though was weird.
Silver quite liked his name even if he hadn’t tended to have been called it when he was younger by another fae. At least they hadn’t completely renamed him even if their remarks sounded mean when they called him something.
When he heard Malleus come up the tower he was glad. It was odd when Malleus said he was simply sleeping. Silver wondered if Rollo possibly thought that as well. Silver knew that he definitely wasn’t sleeping. He was able to hear everything and feel the ground he was lying on.
Silver wanted to get up and help Malleus against Rollo somehow but all he could feel was the stillness and continued to wish he could do anything. Silver only truly felt himself falling asleep when he felt something growing around him. He could tell they were the flowers from before the glow from them took away the darkness that Silver could see behind his eyelids and replaced it with a bright orange reminding Silver what it looked like when you closed your eyes when trying to avoid the sun's glow or there was a fireplace in front of you as you fell asleep.
It reminded Silver of how he wished he was with Malleus, Sebek, and Grandpa Baul in front of a fireplace where would read a book by his father on the rare night that they were at the castle or Lilia’s home if Sebek was being trained for a weekend. Silver didn’t quite feel himself nodding off as he thought about those memories but the welcoming sleep helped him ignore the painful draining feeling that was coming from the flowers where their thorns poked at his skin.
///////////////
Malleus was more than glad when Azul revealed he wasn’t injured. The fight that followed when Rollo used his unique magic darkfire wasn’t pleasant though. Malleus wasn’t sure whether or not he cared to know how long the battle lasted. All that he cared about was that Rollo was defeated and the flowers were in need of being destroyed.
Rollo did seem intent on fighting still though having called Malleus a monster when Rollo himself was instead the one in the wrong. “Monster, you say? I believe the same label applies to you. Never did I expect someone's sheer obsession to cause me such difficulty. You have spirit, Flamme. I'll grant you that. If you still wish to fight, I'll indulge you.”
Rollo rejected the suggestion of him and Malleus fighting again as soon as it was offered. He was panicked for a moment by what Malleus had said. “Wait! All right, all right! I accept…my defeat… Go on and ring the bell. That's what you came here for.” Malleus highly doubted that he needed Rollo’s permission to ring the bell. He didn’t care much for what to do with Rollo muttering to him that he would be dealt with later. It brought a chuckle out of Malleus though when Rollo tried to attack him with a fire spell.
He was the Malleus Draconia though heir to the throne of Briar Valley. It would be weak of him to be easily injured by mere fire. With a hard swing, the bell rang throughout the whole city, the bell's clapper banging against its walls filling Fleur City with a beautiful magical noise that it had made hours before. Yet now the sound it made sounded even more precious and the sight of the firelotuses withering away was even more pleasing.
Malleus let out a sigh of relief realizing that he and the others had made it just in time for the flowers to not have escaped the city. Only a few seconds after he was calmed though Malleus walked over to where Silver was lying and lifted him into his arms. Rollo listened to the final scolding that Idia gave him before looking at Malleus. “…No more of this. I've heard quite enough. Punish me yourselves or turn me over to the authorities. Do what you will.”
Malleus looked at Rollo. “Be reassured that we will. First, though I wish to go and check downstairs. Idia. Azul. Help me get Rollo down these stairs please.” Neither objected to what Malleus had asked of them and glady helped Rollo stand to his feet before following Malleus down the stairs.
///////////////
Silver curled against the person that was holding him when he awoke. At first, Silver had no intent on moving, feeling far too comfortable and safe. Much more than he had felt when lying on the round prior. When Silver heard Malleus being thanked by Tasnim he couldn’t help but open his eyes and smile when he saw Malleus. He wasn’t sure when Malleus noticed he was awake but when that happened Malleus shifted him to where Silver was leaning against his side.
“I’m glad to see you are awake, beastie. It would have been bad if you hadn’t” he spoke. Silver gave a tired yawn and waved to Tasnim not noticing the glare Malleus shot at Rollo.
“Thanks for coming for me Mallie. It was weird. I met Tasnim and then we went up to the tower and I guess I was put to sleep? It was weird I told Rollo what he was doing wasn’t good and then he was like ‘Sleep then you won’t need to fight anymore’ n used some kinda magic on me but I wasn’ even asleep. It was like I was really really still and could hear everything but couldn’t move. I fell asleep when those weird flower things touched me though. Those things are scary an mean.”
Malleus gently rubbed Silver’s back as he spoke trying to relay everything that had happened and keep him calm. “Also Rollo kept calling me Russia? I heard him do it when we were in town but I thought my mind was being silly. He called me it again though when we were in the bell tower.” Silver had finished his speaking and looked back at Tasnim and waved again.
“Those you’re friends Mr.Tasnim?” Tasnim seemed to be in shock for a moment but nodded. “Yes, these are my friends.” Silver waved to the other gargoyles and smiled. “Hi, Mr.Tasnim's friends.” The gargoyles waved back to Silver. “It would be best if we get going,” Malleus said, preparing to go back down the stairs. Tasnim caught Malleus' sleeve before he could move.
“Wait before you go I just wanted to apologize to Silver.” What Tasnim said made SIlver give him a confused look. “Kid I know you might not understand but I’m sorry that I let you go with Rollo and ignored how scared ya looked. I never would have thought Rollo would do something like this but I was wrong. I’m sorry.” Silver was able to reach Tasnim’s hand just slightly and patted it gently. “It’s ok Mr.Tasnim. I forgive you.”
Silver would have almost thought the gargoyle was about to cry but instead, he gave a bright smile and waved bye to Silver and the others as they left the tower.
