Cirno then focused her ice magic into the blade gutting the gatteling gun in half as it blowed up in pomus face knocking her and the two fakegees back as cirno rushed and got peppino and the others out.

after they escaped they stopped to rest "what is a happening why is pomu running the mob now?" asked peppino.

We see this cake on the ground, pink and white and all manner of high-bred things. This kind of cake? White, with a light enough frosting to color so brightly, to say nothing of the means to color it, is a sign of luxury in 1900 Australia. It would have required bleached flour, to say nothing of sugar, which was becoming more of a commodity in Britain at the time* but I suspect would be more difficult to get in Australia. Artificial food dyes are just really beginning to take off. 

This is a product of BRITIAN, not a product of AUSTRALIA, is what I’m saying here, like the parents sending their daughters to Mrs. Appleyard’s school are trying to make their daughters a product of Britian. SP - 'Neon Rice Field' Vong Phaophanit Research - WIB

Neon Rice Field is a combination of neon lights and seven tons of white rice. Tate Britian claims that 'For the artist, Neon Rice Field relies on the ‘interactions of the materials’ (quoted in Tate Gallery 1993, [p.6]) and brings together two utterly disparate things, one natural and organic and the other manufactured and industrial.' This dichotomy between these two matters helps to illustrate the cultural differences between urban and rural, as well as between Eastern and Western. Combining both organic and manufactured is an interesting application of media and I could apply this to my experimentation. 'Commission' a word produced from capitalist culture contrasts the idea of land as one is particularly rigid and ruthless whilst land evokes a sense of meandering, an expansive softness. Using these contrasting mediums could both symbolise the freedom and unbound nature of land as well as the more rigid, constricting aspects of land ownership, commission and profit. The piece is currently exhibited in Tate Britain, I believe they found this piece to be poignant enough to install in the main entrance as it encapsulates conversations regarding the industrialisation of the food industry and to be conscious of the way food is produced and distributed in our climate-conscious world. I feel applying contrasting media such as this could be more engaging for younger people as it creates a juxtaposition between modern technology and natural form. With the emergence of internet subcultures celebrating embracing nature (e.g. cottagecore) as a result of quickly emerging new technologies being overwhelming for many younger people, this conversation emerged from the medium could be particularly interesting for them.

External Visit 15/3/23- Newcastle Contemporary Art. Part One.

Visiting a friend in Newcastle she recommended a visit to the Newcastle Contemporary Art (NCA) -a programme of exhibitions and events curated and managed by High Bridge CIC. It’s an institution centred around a studio for artists, though the forth floor contains a venue gallery (which we visited) containing exhibitions. As we entered the building we took a big glass lift with a great view of Newcastle to the fourth floor. We were met with a vast white open space with wooden panelled floor. One of the piece I remember in particular was a video game which was playable on a computer screen mounted on the wall with a mouse to click and move about on the screen. It was by Una Breakdown called Take The Moonlight by The Tail (2021) .It offers you a journey that takes you through a landscape of complex swamps ,sheer cliffs, unreliable simulations/memories and a roaming comune of dead souls.I liked it as it allowed audiences to have a creative role indistinguishable from the artist, the headphones with an almost white noise sound made in a fully immersive experiences. The sign didn’t tell you what it was fully about so it left it up to your own interpretation but after looking it up on the internet I found it was a digital story about mourning and the uncertainty that big emotions can bring. It is also a story about carrying a person you love ,from the highest point of Gateshead where the artist lives over the River Tyne and up to the castle in Newcastle.When I played it I thought it was about the distortions of reality when going through grief due to the horror aspect and the theme of lost spirits, which wasn’t that far from what it actually is (a picture of the game will be included in the images). Another piece which evoked fear in both me and my friend is The Feeling 2022 by Dawn Felicia Knox. The feeling is in a separate corner with black walls to suit the film like aspect , white sheets of makeshift screens are strung up ,the layers of material attempt to contain the shifting images as they bleed through and spill over leaving the viewer to sift through the fragments of time of closeup videos of greenery and trees are played, when walking into the area to examine a harsh noise played which must’ve activated our flight or fight in turn making us both escape. The soundscape was from a field recording of the site broken down and reconfigured using the sonification of phytoremediation data which to me sounds like a train driving past you mixed with screams ,the way the speakers were placed made it sound like the sound was coming from all around you which exemplified it. Through looking on the artists website I found it was an exploration of deep time pollution and the way plants work together to undo the toxic residue of industrialisation. This is investigated through one plot of land which was a swamp during the carboniferous period, working my during the Industrial Revolution, and is now a contaminated brownfield site. I felt like this piece was worth mentioning due to the response it evoked, i wouldn’t normally think this would be something I would find as interesting but I felt the fear the sound gave us says a lot about the piece and maybe nature. Lastly, commissioned by the Tate Britian ,Hew Lockes The Procession showed the circle of life. It was on a different floor so we got the lift up and it took up the whole area of space, the large scale instillation showed statue like figures walking in a parade. People appeared to move together to celebrate, worship, protest, mourn, escape, or even to better themselves. It showed a cycle of history- it says on the Tate website that the Tate Britain’s founder was in the sugar business, Locke says he ‘makes links with the historical after effects of the sugar business, almost drawing out of the walls of the building’. I found it seemed as if the figures traveled through time, carrying historical and cultural baggage, with evidence of global financial and violent colonial control embellished on their clothes and banners. Unexpected Rerouting

My trip to Lisbon was cancelled. I chose to re-route myself to London, rather than lose a day waiting to arrive in Lisbon, and also potentially being delayed for my Monday work commitment on the trip from Lisbon to London. I spent Friday exploring the Tate Modern, The Tate Britian and the Design Museum. I particularly liked the colorful papier mache figures in Hew Locke’s  Procession, which reminded me of Mexico.
