maybe i'll do them in the order of the results for funsies
synopses below the cut:
i am legend
Robert Neville is the last living man on Earth...but he is not alone. Every other man, woman, and child on Earth has become a vampire, and they are all hungry for Neville's blood. By day, he is the hunter, stalking the sleeping undead through the abandoned ruins of civilization. By night, he barricades himself in his home and prays for dawn. How long can one man survive in a world of vampires?
the black phone
Jack Finney is thirteen, alone, and in desperate trouble. For two years now, someone has been stalking the boys of Galesberg, stealing them away, never to be seen again. And now, Finney finds himself in danger of joining them: locked in a psychopath's basement, a place stained with the blood of half a dozen murdered children. With him in his subterranean cell is an antique phone, long since disconnected . . . but it rings at night anyway, with calls from the killer's previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn't happen to Finney.
the seven husbands of evelyn hugo
In this entrancing novel "that speaks to the Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor in us all" (Kirkus Reviews), a legendary film actress reflects on her relentless rise to the top and the risks she took, the loves she lost, and the long-held secrets the public could never imagine. Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now? Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career. Summoned to Evelyn's luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the '80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love. Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn's story near its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique's own in tragic and irreversible ways.
and then i woke up
In a world reeling from an unusual plague, monsters lurk in the streets while terrified survivors arm themselves and roam the countryside in packs. Or perhaps something very different is happening. When a disease affects how reality is perceived, it’s hard to be certain of anything… Spence is one of the “cured” living at the Ironside rehabilitation facility. Haunted by guilt, he refuses to face the changed world until a new inmate challenges him to help her find her old crew. But if he can’t tell the truth from the lies, how will he know if he has earned the redemption he dreams of? How will he know he hasn’t just made things worse?
exit west
In a country teetering on the brink of civil war, two young people meet--sensual, fiercely independent Nadia and gentle, restrained Saeed. They embark on a furtive love affair, and are soon cloistered in a premature intimacy by the unrest roiling their city. When it explodes, turning familiar streets into a patchwork of checkpoints and bomb blasts, they begin to hear whispers about doors--doors that can whisk people far away, if perilously and for a price. As the violence escalates, Nadia and Saeed decide that they no longer have a choice. Leaving their homeland and their old lives behind, they find a door and step through. . . . Exit West follows these remarkable characters as they emerge into an alien and uncertain future, struggling to hold on to each other, to their past, to the very sense of who they are. Profoundly intimate and powerfully inventive, it tells an unforgettable story of love, loyalty, and courage that is both completely of our time and for all time.
a certain hunger
Food critic Dorothy Daniels loves what she does. Discerning, meticulous, and very, very smart, Dorothy's clear mastery of the culinary arts make it likely that she could, on any given night, whip up a more inspired dish than any one of the chefs she writes about. Dorothy loves sex as much as she loves food, and while she has struggled to find a long-term partner that can keep up with her, she makes the best of her single life, frequently traveling from Manhattan to Italy for a taste of both. But there is something within Dorothy that's different from everyone else, and having suppressed it long enough, she starts to embrace what makes Dorothy uniquely, terrifyingly herself. Recounting her life from a seemingly idyllic farm-to-table childhood, the heights of her career, to the moment she plunges an ice pick into a man's neck on Fire Island, Dorothy Daniels show us what happens when a woman finally embraces her superiority.
just for the summer
Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it's now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work. Emma hadn't planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka. It's supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma's toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they're suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected–including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?
you like it darker
“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to read. King writes to feel “the exhilaration of leaving ordinary day-to-day life behind,” and in You Like It Darker, readers will feel that exhilaration too, again and again. “Two Talented Bastids” explores the long-hidden secret of how the eponymous gentlemen got their skills. In “Danny Coughlin’s Bad Dream,” a brief and unprecedented psychic flash upends dozens of lives, Danny’s most catastrophically. In “Rattlesnakes,” a sequel to Cujo, a grieving widower travels to Florida for respite and instead receives an unexpected inheritance—with major strings attached. In “The Dreamers,” a taciturn Vietnam vet answers a job ad and learns that there are some corners of the universe best left unexplored. “The Answer Man” asks if prescience is good luck or bad and reminds us that a life marked by unbearable tragedy can still be meaningful.
a death in door county
Morgan Carter, owner of the Odds and Ends bookstore in Door County, Wisconsin, has a hobby. When she’s not tending the store, she’s hunting cryptids—creatures whose existence is rumored, but never proven to be real. It’s a hobby that cost her parents their lives, but one she’ll never give up on. So when a number of bodies turn up on the shores of Lake Michigan with injuries that look like bites from a giant unknown animal, police chief Jon Flanders turns to Morgan for help. A skeptic at heart, Morgan can’t turn down the opportunity to find proof of an entity whose existence she can’t definitively rule out. She and her beloved rescue dog, Newt, journey to the Death's Door strait to hunt for a homicidal monster in the lake—but if they’re not careful, they just might be its next victims.
disturbance
As the sun sets on a feverishly hot July evening, a young woman spies on her teenage neighbor, transfixed by what looks like an occult ritual intended to banish an ex-boyfriend. Alone in a new town and desperate to expel the claustrophobic memories of her own ex that have followed, the narrator decides to try to hex herself free from her past. She falls in with the neighbor and her witchy friend, exploring nascent supernatural powers as the boundaries of reality shift in and out of focus. But when the creaks and hums of her apartment escalate into something more violent, she realizes that she may have brought her boyfriend’s presence—whether psychological or paranormal—back to haunt her.
the bell jar
Esther Greenwood is brilliant, beautiful, enormously talented, and successful, but slowly going under—maybe for the last time. In her acclaimed and enduring masterwork, Sylvia Plath brilliantly draws the reader into Esther's breakdown with such intensity that her insanity becomes palpably real, even rational—as accessible an experience as going to the movies. A deep penetration into the darkest and most harrowing corners of the human psyche, The Bell Jar is an extraordinary accomplishment and a haunting American classic.
city on fire
New York City, 1976. Meet Regan and William Hamilton-Sweeney, estranged heirs to one of the city's great fortunes; Keith and Mercer, the men who, for better or worse, love them; Charlie and Samantha, two suburban teenagers seduced by downtown's punk scene; an obsessive magazine reporter, Richard, and his idealistic neighbor, Jenny, - and the detective trying to figure out what any of them have to do with a shooting in Central Park on New Year's Eve. The mystery, as it reverberates through families, friendships, and the corridors of power, will open up even the loneliest-seeming corners of the crowded city. And when the blackout of July 13, 1977, plunges this world into darkness, each of these lives with be changed forever.

Biography:
From the moment Francisco was born he was destined to be a star, whether he wanted to be one or not. Born into Diaz family in the heart of Los Angeles, his father Diego Diaz, an ex actor turned producer always had big things in mind for his only son.
He started taking Francisco to auditions from the age of five, leading to the boy starring in a few commercials, a guest appearance on almost every tv sitcom, until at the age of thirteen Frankie got his big break, bagging a starring role in Magic Moments, a sitcom about three teenagers living in Beverly Hills who discover they're all wizards and witches.
The show sky rocketed Francisco's career, making him a household name over night. He went to all the latest movie premieres, met all the stars and the show's popularity only grew.
He began appearing in other shows in much bigger roles, and even starred in a few of his own movies alongside big Hollywood actors. His dad became his agent and bagged him more roles and a lot more screentime in the show, but the fame quickly went to Francisco's head.
As he got older he started to become closed off from his family. Only really speaking to his dad when it was about the show. He often snuck out late at night and attended more and more big parties, which meant Frankie was exposed to things far before he should have been.
He'd often turn up to set hungover and extremely tired, even almost causing a stunt on set to go horribly wrong, but luckily nobody was majorly hurt.
The show's popularity started to dwindle by the seventh season, and with the four main stars getting closer to reaching adulthood, the network decided to end it.
Francisco was somewhat glad that the show got cancelled. He saw it as an opportunity to focus on more mature roles, and it would also give him more time to party and have a more normal life.
He had a few guest appearances on some bigger shows, and filmed a pilot for a comedy drama, but his personal life soon caught up with him when he made front page news(of a crappy but popular magazine) coming out of a well known(and married) actor's hotel.
The roles dried up a little after that. Nobody wanted to work with someone who had such a messy party boy lifestyle, and it didn't help that Frankie's dad was moving the family to Cardinal Hill.
At first he wanted to stay in California, get his own place, and try and make it on his own, but since he hadn't had a decent paying job since Magic Moments, and the royalties from that weren't great, he knew he needed his parents for financial stability. So he had to go.
He hated the town from the second he stepped foot in front of his new house. It was cold, quiet, and nothing like his life back home in California, but Frankie's determined to make the most of it.
Extras:
Other Stuff(Head Canons):
His tv show 'Magic Moments' was a mix between Sabrina The Teenage Witch(90s Version) Wizards of Waverly Place & 90210. Starting off silly and dumb, but trying it's best to tackle more mature themes in later seasons.
He played a character called Jake Young. The comic relief cool guy character who often found himself in ridiculous situations due to his inability to cast most spells.
He is often recognised for his role as Jake. He used to love the recognition but now that he's older and hasn't acted in over a year, it's a little embarrassing.
His parents put a large majority of the money he made on the show into a fund that Frankie won't be able have full access to until he's thirty, a cause of many arguments in the Diaz house.
He has two younger siblings, neither of which were pushed into acting after his parents saw what all the fame did to their eldest son.
He's heard rumours of a reboot of Magic Moments happening in a couple of years and hopes to be back in Cali by then to star in it.
He has no idea witches actually exist and doesn't believe in that stuff, even after receiving hate mail from a select few people who claim to be witches and aren't happy with his shows perpetuation of negative stereotypes.
His catchphrases on the show was saying 'Did I do that?", "I'm too bitchin' for this" and "That's heavy" at least once an episode and they get quoted to him regularly.
Wanted Connections
Ex/Hookup: He's a bit of a charmer and a heartbreaker. He's not been in town long but has probably already made quite a dent in the local dating scene.
Drinking Buddy: His parents have told him they'll cut him off financially if he doesn't sort out his drunken antics, but Francisco likes to think he's good at hiding them, he just might need a little help.
Hater: Maybe a witch who wasn't a fan of the show, or someone who Frankie just rubbed up the wrong way with his asshole-ish tendencies.
Anything! Hit me up!

AS WE KNOW IT - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: Buffalo 8
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: “Set in Los Angeles in the late 1990s, struggling writer James Bishop grapples with the emotional shrapnel of a recent breakup with his longtime girlfriend, Emily. As James holds up in his Hollywood Hills home with writer's block, his eccentric best friend Bruce shows up with bad news. The city has plunged into chaos by an unusual zombie outbreak, courtesy of tainted soy milk, wreaking havoc on James' semi-charmed kinda life. With the streets of Los Angeles swarming with the undead, James, Bruce, and Emily come together to barricade themselves in the house while reconciling their personal struggles. And occasionally, letting in the only food delivery service still operating, Abracadabra.” -Press Release
REVIEW: Josh Monkarsh’s film feels like a play as James’ home is the main setting and much of the story unfolds in the living room, kitchen and bedroom. The limited locations add to the feel of a 90’s sitcom, from “Seinfeld,” to “Friends” and the late 90’s “Freaks & Geeks.” Clearly these characters are in their mid to late 20’s but their lack of maturity make them seem much younger.
Monkarsh, DePaolo and Francis’s script is jam packed with 90’s references and bits and gags that rely on period as well. One of the jokes between James and Bruce is their love of “Waterworld,” which they watch on a laserdisc (yes, I still have a player and a collection of laserdiscs). It is clearly a love letter to that period of time when life was simpler and complicated in different ways before the advent of the smartphone, tablets and laptops. The absurdity of the zombie plague being caused by tainted soy milk takes a back seat to the relationship between the three characters, and Rory, the delivery person who happens to be an old acquaintance of Bruce, makes for a nice distraction.
The film has a rather dry pacing, and even Bruce’s chaotic moments come at a slower pace. There is an overall malaise that you would expect from the zombies. Somehow it all works and becomes engaging. Each actor brings elements to their performances that make for likable and sympathetic characters, even Bruce. It’s a great ensemble cast, but I have to say actor Danny Mondello creates this memorable character that could have easily been cliched but comes off fresh and memorable, like an early Joe Pesci performance. Actor Chris Parnell received a nice amount of screen time, with an additional scene during the credits, and it would have been nice to see a bit more of Pam Grier.
I enjoyed the cinematography, costumes and production designs that captured the period. The editing sustained my viewing engagement. The zombie make up and designs are simple and effective, as well as the special effects, with nothing too gorey. I liked Michl Britsch’s score. It enhanced the comedic tones of the film and added slightly more energy to the film.
AS WE KNOW IT is a relationship comedy set against the backdrop of a zombie outbreak taking place in Los Angeles. The film is kind of a 90’s American slacker reworking of “Shaun of the Dead,” with a tone similar to Jim Jarmusch’s “The Dead Don't Die,” but without some of the film’s more bizarre moments. A fun and mildly funny trip down memory lane with some likable characters who take center stage over the zombies. Monkarsh does a nice job with the material but given his film credits to date I’m not sure when and if will see Monkarsh venturing into the horror genre again soon.

HEADCANONS.
kitty comes from a wealthy family who’s only goal is to stay wealthy by all means necessary. ever since she was little, she has been expected to one day settle down with a good man like a good family girl does. ew.
kitty's dream is to work in costume design for Broadway or Hollywood but her parents pressured her to get a "real” education or not go to college at all. so they made a deal in which they would pay for her education in full (including housing, all expenses and some extra fun money) if she agreed to study marketing like her father did. she of course said yes, but she got to pick the school and pursue whatever minor she wanted. they reluctantly agreed to her demands and to not meddle in her life and give her a little independence as long as she does well in school, something she’s not quite used to.
she portrays herself as a spoiled rich girl who gets what she wants or there will be hell to pay and that has brought on quite a lot of drama and conflict. but deep down all she wants is to find someone who accepts and loves her without judgement and pressure as to which mold she should fit into.
CONNECTIONS.
this section is a wip but give me exes and hookups and friends and enemies and people who have helped her get through school because she fucking hates her major. give me a bff and a party buddy. just...everything and anything.

Wonder Mama wants to take you on a rainbow history tour

Wonder Mama wants to take you on a rainbow history tour
Tumblr media
Today, LGBTQIA+ visibility is all over Oxford Street in Darlinghurst. But drag queen Wonder Mama wants to share the hidden history of Sydney’s gaybourhood that you probably don’t know.
The drag queen hosts her fun and fascinating walking tours along Oxford Street (above) twice a week, showing locals and tourists around the gay mecca.
Back in 2019, Wonder Mama travelled to New York City with Mardi Gras. She joined Sydney’s contingent as the city successfully bid to host the mega-festival WorldPride last year.
“In the downtime, I joined a fascinating walking tour of New York City, particularly through the West Village area,” Wonder Mama told us.
“To my knowledge, Sydney didn’t have a walking tour like it, explaining the people and places of Oxford Street.
“I’ve always been interested in Sydney’s history, as well as the history of LGBTQIA+ community. It was even more interesting once I took a deep dive into the research.”
Wonder Mama now takes groups on her two-hour Oxford Street walking tours most Tuesdays and Saturdays. The performer also accepts private tour bookings.
“I started the tour in 2020, just as COVID was hitting. It turned out to be a bit of a rollercoaster because of the pandemic,” she recalled.
“But in the last year or so, even the last six months, a lot more travellers have returned to Sydney.”
Activists, entrepreneurs and drag icons
On each of the tours, Wonder Mama teaches walkers about the colourful characters of the area, including icons, activists, entrepreneurs and some of the drag legends.
As well as touring venues like The Stonewall Hotel, The Oxford, and Darlinghurst Bookshop, Wonder Mama also explores the history behind them.
“There was so much that was happening in Sydney while homosexuality was still illegal,” she says.
Wonder Mama name-checks Sydney lesbian businesswoman Dawn O’Donnell, who died in 2007 at age 79.
Dawn is widely recognised for her efforts in turning Sydney’s Oxford Street into one of the southern hemisphere’s gayest cities.
“Dawn O’Donnell and others founded a lot of Oxford Street venues at a time when being gay was against the law,” Wonder Mama said.
“People kept living their lives even as they fought for equal rights and changing the laws, after the first Mardi Gras.”
This year is the 40th anniversary of New South Wales decriminalising homosexuality in 1984. Sydney’s first Mardi Gras parade was a few years earlier in 1978.
Each of the Oxford Street tours ends with a photo op at the rainbow crossing near Taylor Square.
“Sometimes I get a bit of a skepticism from locals because they think, there’s not much to Oxford Street,” Wonder Mama says.
“But there’s so much history here. When I’ve had locals and Sydneysiders do the tour, they say, ‘Wow, I didn’t know this happened, or I didn’t know this was here.’
“It’s a great thing to offer both locals and tourists from all over the place. It’s been so much fun.”
Wonder Mama’s 10 years in drag
Wonder Mama’s alter ego Renny Roccon created the drag persona for Sydney’s Mardi Gras Parade back in 2014.
Since then, Wonder Mama has toured Australia and internationally as a proud Aussie drag glambassador.
She’s hosted numerous events, marched in Pride Parades, swum with crocodiles, written children’s books and lots more.
In Sydney, Wonder Mama also hosts her regular Drink and Draw with a Drag Queen workshops.
The art workshops are coming up at Surry Hill’s Hollywood Hotel and the Shakespeare Hotel.

“Irreverant”
The A.V. Club
Tumblr media
It is probably a bad omen when a crocodile devours the officiant at a wedding. But these things happen, down under, with a scream and a tossed bouquet and, soon, a shoulder shrug, and then a “not another Reverend'' air of exasperation. So opens Irreverent, a twee, not so irreverent premise-driven comedic drama that pits sunny, beachy Australian gallows humor against cynical American opportunism, and lightly roasts religious dogma with Mafia cutthroattery.
Paddy Macrae sets his tale in the fictional, wonderfully named Clump, a fill-in for Clump Point, that was shot, lovingly, sunnily, in Mission Beach, Queensland. The country’s gold coast imbues everything with an air of warm breezy bullshit that swirls through the tiny town’s stereotypical plot of petty criminals, slackers, and half-lovable beachbum Luddites. All of them marinate in endless blue sky and blond beach and breakfasts of vegemite, along with the same quotidian frustrations as back here, on the other side of the world.
Colin Donnell stars as Paulo, a kind of reverse Crocodile Dundee, a generically good looking leadman, the kind to play as a perennial mom favorite on a network medical drama — he was Dr. Connor Rhodes in Chicago Med. He hits like a down-guide cable TV Ryan Reynolds, a dollar store Justin Theroux, with continuous five-o'clock shadow and smartass gritted teeth and brow-furrowing air of annoyance as he half-heartedly grapples with questions of faith and humanity. Questions he wanted nothing to do with in the first place. In Chicago he operated as some type of mafia mediator, one able to fall back on loose and affable charm — “you're not gonna send me to heaven tonight, buddy,” he says to a would-be hitman. In that case at least, he was right, minutes later ending up the last man standing over a mountainous briefcase full of someone else’s loot. He takes the money and runs, not stopping until his conscience lands him in the pitiful web of a hard-drinking ex-Reverend in Australia. Paulo is capable of mafia negotiations, auto theft, pick-pocketry, fisticuffs, he even plays a little keys, but when he wakes up on the first day of lamming it, with his stolen wares missing, he needs to don this holy man’s discarded robe to begin a trail back to what he lost.
Yes, the premise makes little sense, in an almost impressive way. Just know that the basic conceit is the contrast of a pseudo gangster connected guy spruced up — in his “dog collar” —  as a leader of a faraway flock. It is a fish out of water mobster scenario, unfortunately premiering the same month as another, flashier one — Tulsa King, featuring a septuagenarian tough guy turn from Sylvester Stallone. The difference, of course, is that that telling boasts one of the biggest Hollywood stars to ever live and two of the most gifted showrunner/writers of this generation (Taylor Sheridan and Terence Winter). A generous reading could suggest that Irreverent is My Blue Heaven to that show’s Goodfellas (both movies were released within a month of each other, both angles on the story of real life mobster Henry Hill). But, really, neither are likely to leave much of an impression. While Tulsa scratches the boomer itch for muscly knowing swagger, this show feels like a whimsical early winter dose of sunshiney cutesy. Both feature a protagonist out of their element, snarky and bemused, doing what they know, instinctively, building a new crew, of sorts.
Paulo busily, worriedly tries to track down the man who stole his small fortune (P.J. Byrne as Mackenzie, in the comedic highlight of the show, recognizable for his role in The Wolf of Wall Street, another connection to Terence Winter and Tulsa King), navigating single-bar cell reception for hushed talks with Lou back home, the helpful sidekick, who helps and warns while stalking amongst his gym’s punching bags in Chicago. Meanwhile Mackenzie doesn’t see the reason he and Paulo can’t still be friends, he responds to a phone threat with, “you sound like Liam Neeson,” eventually refers to himself as Bryan Mills, after Neeson’s character in Taken, takes to calling Paulo during Zumba classes to leave Reverential advice on how to run weddings, pick Bible passages, etc.
At the same time Paulo’s former outfit back home puts out a hit, leading him further into the relatively safe confines of holiness and middle-of-nowhere, end-of-the-world Australia. Just when he thought he was out, they pull him back in. And back in, and back in, until inevitably, he’s climbing a belltower for reception, again, leading Palm Sunday mass, emceeing as holy man for the funeral of a dog, for the funeral of a beloved local bar owner.
Clump is a well-packed pantry of such stock, if not entirely unlovable, local characters. There is the hardass cop and village conscience, the god fearer, distant friends coming back together, wayward teenagers dreaming only of leaving, the star-crossed lovers, eager to tie their knot despite the last go round ending in a wedding video featuring the preacher getting “gnawed” by the aforementioned crocodile.
While it can often feel tender, even endearing, especially the blooming friendship between Paulo and his teenage roommate, Daisy (a wonderful Tegan Stimson), it is only ever really funny in a vaguely sophomoric, obvious way. And it tries very hard to be funny: The locals wager on how long the new Reverend will survive; Paulo smashes a broken religious music-bumping stereo with a rock; a hot-to-trot single volunteers hornily, to “give him mouth to mouth;” he uses the Lord’s name in vain, obviously; he explains a mile is a “masculine kilometer.” He wonders why “everything is so far apart” in this foreign land, as he runs on the sand, pondering why the town is “stuck in 1982.” He researches at a generator-driven, dial-up connected internet cafe. A non-believer clumsily reading from the big book up at the pulpit is funny, but, it’s the church —  talk about low hanging fruit.
Everyone needs him for different reasons, and, yes, he comes to need them. In the meantime most of the characters spend time bumping into one another, “shouting upstairs waiting for answers,” as one townie refers to praying, everything playing off the belief we have in people in a costume, in a role. “God doesn’t even know where Clump is,” one character opines early on. And that’s really what the show is about: being lost, and found, as Paulo says, “at the end of the world, sweating my balls off, slapping mosquitoes, fighting off… bogan’s?” By the end of two episodes you’ll have a good idea what a bogan is. And by the end of episode five you’ll be primed to make “then you might be, a bogan” jokes yourself.

kitty comes from a wealthy family who’s only goal is to stay wealthy by all means necessary. ever since she was little, she has been expected to one day settle down with a good man like a good family girl does. ew.
kitty's dream is to work in costume design for Broadway or Hollywood but her parents pressured her to get a "real” education or not go to college at all. so they made a deal in which they would pay for her education in full (including housing, all expenses and some extra fun money) if she agreed to study marketing like her father did. she of course said yes, but she got to pick the school and pursue whatever minor she wanted. they reluctantly agreed to her demands and to not meddle in her life and give her a little independence as long as she does well in school, something she’s not quite used to.
she portrays herself as a spoiled rich girl who gets what she wants or there will be hell to pay and that has brought on quite a lot of drama and conflict. but deep down all she wants is to find someone who accepts and loves her without judgement and pressure as to which mold she should fit into.

Darlinghurst celebrates Mardi Gras with Oxtravaganza!
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/darlinghurst-celebrates-mardi-gras-with-oxtravaganza/
Darlinghurst celebrates Mardi Gras with Oxtravaganza!
Tumblr media
Oxtravaganza, a Darlinghurst-wide fringe festival celebrating the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, is back again for its 8th incarnation in 2024!
The Oxtravaganza Festival is centred around Oxford Street and Sydney’s Rainbow Precinct, but stretches out across Darlo and into Surry Hills and Kings Cross.
This year this ‘festival-within-a-festival’ will run from the 16th February until the 3rd March.
“Oxtravaganza pulls out all the stops,” says Festival Curator Lorraine Lock.
“I mean it’s not unusual to find something happening on Oxford Street on any night of the week, but Oxtravaganza and Mardi Gras ramp it up to another level!”
There are two weeks of events including art exhibitions, an Art Walk, live performances, the Darlo Big Drag Brunch, retail deals, a dedicated Family Zone with storytelling, face painting, kids goodie bags, the ever popular Shop till You Drop, and more.
Something is happening every night of the week from drag shows and cabaret, to book readings and sweaty disco nights. There will also be nude drawing classes, a design market, and activations at the Sydney Design Centre and Sydney Jewish Museum.
And of course, this all builds towards the finale of Parade Night, a glittering glamorous celebration of our LGBTQIA+ community and the rowdiest party that Oxford Street gets to host each year!
All around Darlinghurst a host of businesses are putting on their sparkle for Oxtravaganza in 2024, including galleries, restaurants, small bars, pubs, clubs and retailers.
“We’re also lucky to have the National Art School and the Australian Museum on our doorstep,” says Lock, “plus a host of smaller galleries in the immediate neighbourhood.”
“Art is a big deal and such a huge part of our history!”
This year also sees the opening of the Qtopia Sydney Centre for Queer History and Culture, a hugely anticipated conversion of the old Darlinghurst Police Station into a queer museum and events space.
Qtopia Sydney will also be programming The Bandstand in Green Park, and The Substation and toilet block on Taylor Square (all heritage listed buildings) as cultural and performances spaces on the northside of Oxford Street.
All up, there will be around 100 different events across 40 venues that span the length and breadth of Darlinghurst. Reason enough to start marking your diary for 2024!
HIGHLIGHTS OF OXTRAVAGANZA INCLUDE :
DARLO BIG DRAG BRUNCH – Saturday 24 February Darlinghurst does Drag Brunch better than anywhere else in Sydney! Restaurants, bars and cafes will be hosting their own Drag Brunch, not just on Oxford St but right across Darlo. Some venues will offer bottomless deals every day of the week!
PHOTO EXHIBITION – 16 Feb till 3 March Featuring the “best of Oxtravaganza” from years gone by plus a series of portraits of local faces. Look out for theses amazing pics in the windows of local businesses. You may see a friend or two!
SHOP TILL U DROP – Saturday 24 February Retail deals and performance at key stores and galleries. There will be dj’s, discounts, drag queens, giveaways and more. Join us for a shopping spree like no other!
FAMILY ZONE – Saturday 24 February Drag story time and craft activities for kids and rainbow families. Just a stone’s throw from Oxford Street at the East Sydney Community and Arts Centre (ESCAC), but less hectic for the little ones. Fairy floss, goodie bags, make-up, stories, painting and more.
THE HUBS – 16 February – 3 March Darlo is a lot more than just Oxford Street. There are other hubs to be explored like the Rainbow Precinct, Hollywood Quarter, Stanley Street, the Glittering Mile, all within a short stroll from Taylor Square or the CBD.
Check out the Oxtravaganza website for more updates! www.oxtravaganza.com
