The Persona and SMT culture shock is real. Dawg, so I’m a SMT fan and until recently I’ve never played Persona (because it was never on any consoles I owned) but I finally had the chance to play Persona 5 and I know it’s beloved so I decided to play it. I had also bought SMT 3: Nocturne because I’m a sucker for SMT (I do love nocturne like once you get powerful the game is great).

I knew it was different but nothing could’ve prepared me for what I encountered playing this game.

If you’ve never played SMT basically here’s how it goes: they teach you the basic mechanics, you get the premise, and you’re thrown into a cut throat world where every demon is actively tryna finesse you out of everything you own, or kill you. You have to take initiative to advance the story. It’s all on you.

If you get lost, that’s on you deal with your own problem, the characters in the world got their own issues they’re not babysitting you.

I don’t say any of that as a negative. I honestly love that aspect of SMT, I love that the game leaves you alone and just lets you fight and progress. Maybe some people don’t like that isolation but it’s a plus for me because I don’t like people telling me stuff I already know and wasting my time.

So im only like 15-20 hours into persona 5 and this is my face most of the game.

This game is not hitting for me, it’s making me miss Nocturne because at least the characters in that game are likable and more grounded.

Like this game is edgy but in a way where it handles super serious and traumatic subject matters with all the maturity of a high schooler. I let this slide because they’re high schoolers so maybe the story will become self aware. It never becomes self aware. There is not one voice of reason like this is a rated m game why isn’t it mature and nuanced? SMT has pretty nuanced stories.

My issues started when I was given the option to “call the police” and the game said “nah shawty you can’t” like why tf would you give me this option?? This game gives me options then says “no you can’t do that” like why give me options to begin with if I can’t pick them?

The story is just so jarring because in SMT, it’s like “human hubris and greed for power will doom humanity or make an already doomed humanity even worst, you have a bad option and an even worst option” like it’s esoteric and philosophical but you gotta pick which option is logical to you as a person and live with the consequences. It’s not anything that’s very sensitive.

Persona 5 throws these super serious subject matters at you and then the first villain is a goofy ass overly evil unrealistic portrayal. I’m not even angry at the scenario because it’s so absurdly evil that it’s stupid.

I don’t wanna be friends with any of these characters because I have important things to like prepping for battle. The game doesn’t let me do what I want, I have the weird cat creature telling me “you can’t do that lol go to sleep” as if I’m not on a time clock for most of it.

The way these characters treat Ann is so tasteless and tbh that art teacher arc was so mf dumb and tacty that I just stopped playing because I bought SMT 5 (and I’m having a way better time). Like this poor girl went through a life altering and scarring event but none of the protags care, they’re like “yeah just do the nude painting for him lol”. Dawg how tf are these characters any better than the evil gym teacher? That cat creature is so weird to Ann like dawg leave this girl alone why is nobody telling dude to chill?

If the game was self aware of how both these actions are coercive and abusive then I would say “persona 5 is a good game” but it isn’t and so it just expects me to be like “heheh isn’t it funny?” Dawg it really ain’t. It throws very touchy subjects at me, gives me the worst options ever, unrealistic villains and then anime hijinks.

Say what you about SMT but the demifiend don’t do this to me. I’m around 10+ hours into SMT 5 and it doesn’t do this to me. The demifiend my dawg because he just about that action and he don’t play

Persona 5 is over 100+ hours, I decide to say “why not?” And watch a video run down of the game and the story aspects that I don’t like never change. It only gets more goofy. I can’t dedicate months (maybe years given how long it takes for me to get through Jrpgs) playing this game.

So yeah like as a SMT fan, I don’t think Persona is for me because these life sim elements become so intrusive and I’m not playing these games to date the characters or make connections with fictional characters, im playing these games to fight and explore the setting.

Seriously this game is so railroady, and these characters are annoyingly needy. Dawg I have to juggle school, leveling up, and item prep/management I do not want to hang out with you.

I do like some elements of Persona 5 like the gameplay is good and being able to buy stuff from stores and explore the cities is fun. When it leaves me alone to do that, I have a great time. The baseball mini game is 10/10 and what I spent most time doing. When the game just let me do whatever and not have to be around the story, it was great.

I now completely understand what persona fans have a difficult time getting into SMT bc if love certain elements of persona, you will not love certain elements of SMT.

I understand why people have said “oh, SMT is Persona without the heart” because even though I think SMT has a ton of heart, it’s a different type of heart and emotion than persona has.

Not saying persona is bad but it’s really just not for me. I may try the older games but I’m torn between which ones but if they go on sale, I’ll for sure buy them

some thoughts on what living with bakugou would be like:

-he’s weirdly organized. like he remembers where he put everything every time so if ur ever looking for something, most times he’ll just find it for u and it takes like .2 seconds

-will cook meals a large majority of the time, but if u bake sweets he’s an absolue sucker for them.

-if you’re like reALLY allergic to a certain type of bug or plant,, man’s got his eyes pEELED whenever y’all go somewhere together. like lets say, for example, ur allergic to bees. bakugou is blowing bees up left and right and u look at him and ur “no!! stop!!! bees are endangered!!” ,, he looks u dead in the face, like ur stupid or something and says “yeah. because of me. i’m gonna kill all of them.”

- if u have to get in an argument with somebody over the phone, he wants to hear it. like he’ll ask u to put the phone on speaker and he’ll just make mocking, bitchy faces while the other person is speaking. like,, he lets u fight ur own battles, but he wants to be there bullying the other person mercilessly in the background.

-if he doesnt like a song ur playing, he’ll just skip it. won’t ask, wont look at u, he’ll just skip it. borderline dick move tbh

-gets grumpy if u don’t follow his nightly routine on time, but also wont go to sleep without u. like he’ll just stay up and crab at u until u go to bed with him

-likes when u brush his hair for him. like u’ll be brushing yours, totally by urself fine, and he’ll just look at u and clear his throat until u roll ur eyes and beckon him over

-if u get like a bag of junk food or something,, do nOt leave that shit out, bakugou will finish it 10/10 times. he’ll finish it but then look at u and “why the fuck would u even bring that shit in here, huh? u tryin’ to get me out of shape or somethin?” ,, and u look at him like “idk man maybe just dont eat it then.” ,,, the glARE he gives u in response is muRDEROUS //pls this is quite literally the only area he lacks self control dont remind him\\

-has absolutely no regard for neighbors. he yells a lot and if y’all get noise complaints he just glares and 😡💥at the neighbor until they get scared and leave

-he thinks it’s funny to just subtly move things from time to time. like, for example, lets say plates. ,,, so like, u always keep plates on the left side of a certain cabinet, right?? but if he’s putting dishes away and feeling particularly petulant that day, he’ll just put away the plates on the right side instead. man’s then proceeds to smirk and laugh at u every time u open the wrong side of the cabinent from then on with a “jeez, u rlly are a moron, huh? they’re on the right side, remember?” god he’s annoying

-genuinely enjoys going grocery shopping by himself. like idk he just thinks it’s his quiet, personal time, u kno?? and he enjoys doing super-intense meal prep for the week anyways so he’s gotta make sure he gets the right ingredients

-u just hear muffled screaming from time to time. like u’ll be in the kitchen eating breakfast totally calm, and he’s making the bed and all the sudden just a “jesus fucking christ, swear to fuck im gonna blow up this stupid fuckin’ fitted sheet!” (which honestly??? valid. fuck fitted sheets.)

-if he doesn’t want to hang out with the bakusquad but they’re forcing him he’ll text u something like “I love you.” and then ofc ur like “i love u too. but also, u never just say that to me normally?? is something wrong?” and then total radio silence from him for like 20 mins and u get super worried,, and then he just sends u a video of mina or denki being loud with a “Can you get sick or something? I want to come home.” ,, i- 🧍

- isnt going to want a pet,, but if u have, like, a dog already when u move in with him, then it’s going to become bakugou’s dog. if he’s going to have to have a dog than he’s gonna make sure it likes him more than u

-hates doing laundry. will volunteer to do dishes instead 11/10 times

-he doesn’t sing in the shower but 100% plays the drums on the walls or his own stomach fight me on this

-he hates the smell of nail polish/nail polish remover. so if ur painting ur nails he’ll just walk in the room and walk directly out,, quickest way to get alone time

-speaking of alone time- say bye. u’ll get none of it,,, it’s not that he’s constantly on top of u or like talking to u, he just always sorta ends up in whatever room u are. like a cat, pretty much. like he won’t say anything, but if u get up to do something, he gets up and chooses to move his lounging to somewhere nearby

-he likes to scare the shit out of u. just like, rlly juvenile stuff like hiding around corners just to jump out at u. will just stand there and laugh when u scream, and will never, never apologize

-he gets weirdly worked up about hair?? just hates it, thinks it’s disgusting if he sees a stray hair anywhere. even if its his own. like yes it’s gross ig, but he gets so 🤮 about it

-he does house chores unecessarily loudly. like, u watch him and it seems like he’s doing everything totally normally,, but jesus christ why is it so loud

-gets bitchy around christmas if u decorate without him. he will complain the eNTIRE time if he does have to decorate, but will throw an even bigger fit if u dare to do it without him

-he gets mad if people drive too fast in ur neighborhood/ past ur apartment complex. like, y’all have 0 (zero!) kids, but he’s still up at the window like “Slow the fuck down, asshole! Why the hell doesn’t anyone have any common fuckin’ sense around here? That’s dangerous, you piece of shit!”

-if u sing around the house a lot, it’s the only habit of urs he’ll have absolutely nothing to say about. like it doesn’t even matter if ur a good singer or not, he just likes when he can hear u in the house even if ur not in the same room. he finds it comforting

-bakugou hates having people over to ur place. he thinks of it like his calm-space/safe-haven and it rlly pisses him off when people are there

-on the rare days he doesn’t have to work at all and stays home, mans is a total baby. he just refuses to get up for anything other than bathroom or meals and even then goes straight back to bed. he takes basically a 24 hr nap and expects u to do the same with him he’s so dramatic pls

-will make snarky comments about reality tv shows with u. just the bitchiest shit possible bc he enjoys trash talking as an art form, and absolutely does not care who it’s about

-likes to watch u do skincare stuff. he won’t ask questions and will be borderline offended if u offer some to him, but he just likes to watch u do it. man’s thinks of it as like his personal asmr

-hates online shopping. (pls i have absolutely no explanation for this one i just know its true)

-he has a lot of pride in his house so it’s actually rlly well decorated. like, he would never consent to living somewhere busted, lmaooo, so if u dont kno how to decorate he’ll figure it out for the both of u

-u can always tell if he’s falling asleep bc he constantly does that weird full-body jerk. like the one where it feels like ur falling

Izuku Couple Ranking

1. TodoDeku - Narrative foils! He’ll listen to him and respects his strategy's, doesn’t just dismiss them as ramblings. Deku would give Shoto unrequited love from the GET GO like he DESERVES! Team daddy issues.

2. Bakugo/Izuku/Kiri - Look Kiri and Bakugo are end game and Kiri is just really sweet and I think he could really balance them and make the whole situation happier and healthier and I think he’d like how open Deku is with his feelings.

3. Todoroki/Deku/Bakugo - THE power couple. They’d be A LOT though.

4. Bakudeku - Enemies to friends to lovers is just a jam tbh. It has to go this way not just enemies to lovers because otherwise I feel like it would be too unhealthy. Enemies to lovers is fun because theirs mutual feelings and banter but Deku is putting too much work into this friendship and Bakugo is resisting too hard to make skipping the friendship step healthy. I feel like he’d be good at making Deku look after himself and get out of spirals. Also, to project onto a fictional character for a second, I feel like Deku gets into anxiety spirals where he is trapped in his own brain for so long thinking about a problem that his logic gets worse but he gets more and more sure that it’s the only option. And Bukugo would just come in like no Deku how the fuck did you think that was a good idea you missed the obvious good answer 10 minutes ago. He’d be a good common sense balance and Deku would soften him up. 

5. Shinso/Izuku - I feel like they both would just love and support each other so much and respect how hard they’re both trying to become heroes. They’d listen to each other. Also I love AUs where Deku remains quirkless and gets into the support course and just them being classmates and ROOMATES!!!!

6. Shoto/Uraraka/Izuku - Shoto deserves to double the cinnamon roles in his life. I feel like the three of them would cancel out any weird vibes. I think Shoto would really enjoy spoiling them and they’d be really protective of him and ready to fight his dad at any opportunity.

Ida/Uraraka/Izuku - It’s just SO soft!

7. Uraraka/Izuku - Cinnamon roles! However, women are already written so poorly in MHA that I find their whole “I talked to a boy” “I just touched a girl” five year old shit half the time more irritating than cute. Like I enjoy narrative contrast, it can be really funny and cute and grounding but to go from “I just broke all the bones in my body” to this is just too jarring for me. They’re so similar that they kind of give me sibling vibes honestly. 

Bakugo Couple Ranking

1. Him and Kirri. It’s always them. Like look at the Seamstress on tiktok and she has such amazing head-cannons about them. About Bakugo respecting Kirri’s worth and improving his self esteem like no one else could. About how Bakugo feels so comfortable and completed by Kirri in so many ways, like just Kirri doing the talking in interviews. Also they would be SO ride or die for each other. Two manly men just being icons in love. 

2.  Bakugo/Izuku/Kiri

3. Todoroki/Bakugo/Kiri. Again B and K are ENDGAME. But I think just these two people who are so full of life and passion could be a really neat fit with Shoto! Also their hair together is SO cute, how one’s cherry, one’s blonde and he’s the candy cane in-between. 

4. Todoroki/Deku/Bakugo

Uraraka Couple Ranking

1. Her and Tsuyu! Pink and Green look super good together, they’re close to being contrasting colours. They’re smart, sweet and way more dangerous than they look. They’d be the most adorable power couple.

1.Itsuka/Momo - They’re both confident women who deserve great things. I feel like Itsuka would be a very precious, protective girlfriend and Momo would defiantly spoil her any chance she got. They’d be so competent that it would be legendary.

2. Jiro/Momo. Okay to be honest I prefer them as besties but the art slaps and they would be cute. Love some prep/punk vibes.

3. Shoto/Momo: Again I feel like they would be WAY better as just friends. Especially as the men overshadow the women so much in the show that I just feel like the women deserve better than being a man’s love interest, let them just support each other. But they would be cute. Also two rich people together... ew. Eat the rich. Which is also why they kind of give off the feeling like they’re people who would say that the other is “like a brother/sister to me.” Also I feel like them together would make their parents too happy. 

Denki couple ranking

1. Denki/Shinso - I’m still not over the “No loud blondes” jokes I think they’re adorable and there's so much potential there. Also just this ray of sunshine believing in Shinso when so few have with his whole heart is PRECIOUS! I feel like they’d be really supportive of each other. And I feel like they both have very noticeable disabilities, depression and ADHD, and I feel like neither would be daunted just accepting of each other entirely. 

I like Denki just being the biggest Jiro simp better than them getting together, except...

2. Jiro/Denki/Shinso - It would be CUTE! They’d get along so well. I just love the vibes idk. Plus Denki needs all of the adult supervision he can get.

3. Deku/Denki/Shinso - Again just some good cute vibes here. I feel like after Deku has struggled so long with being quirkless he would be really supportive and encouraging with Denki getting help with learning disabilities and would be always happy to help him study. They would all be so supportive. 

Nebulous Head-cannons

Aizawa and Mic are either best friends or a long time married couple. I’m happy either way as long as they’re just each others favourite person and live together.

Grand Torino and Recovery Girl would be the cutest old couple. They’d enjoy messing with people and getting up to mischief together I think.

I’m kind of fond of Tsuyu x Sero. 

All Might’s got it going on with Izuku’s Mom

I like the idea that Kirishima is trans and gay. 

Denki, Shinsou, Midoryia, Jiro and Tsuyu are all non-binary.

When did you post your first piece? May 26, 2020 (Dec 7, 2014 was my OG post on ff.net haha)

Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why? I write fluff, angst (lots), and sometimes crack. While I can rec some awesome smuts, I don’t feel comfortable writing explicit smut as of yet, although I will elude to some smexy time. I do have a WIP that I will one day write that will definitely include smut because it’s part of the story.

Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc? I have some OG OCs and my starter fics on Tumblr were third-person female reader. However, recent works include x you (reader) and I find that really fun and easier to write! I don’t really write any ships for Kpop.

Why did you decide to write for Tumblr? Having read so many awesome works on Tumblr made me want to write and hopefully have other readers experience the same feelings I do when I read that great piece. However, my original goal was just to write for Monsta X since there aren’t a whole lot of fics for them but also because I have too many ideas running in my mind. Lastly, I just write for myself.

What inspires you to write? The groups I write for, other things I read (like mangas and/or shows), and especially songs!

What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most? I write best fluff for established relationships because otherwise it’s all just angst, which is a lot of fun to write while keeping it not too toxic unless stated otherwise for plot. I also love silly fics for giggles. As for Au’s I enjoy regular day to day life with a spin or fantasy based Au’s.

What do you hope your readers take away from your work? I hope they just feel a strong emotion - depending on the genre. I hope that they get to the end and find all the nuances I try to sprinkle throughout the story hinting to clues or plot devices. That’s always what I try to aim for.

What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively? Cry. Jokes aside, I take a break/breather to refocus and take time for myself. I also read professional works to take my mind off things or get inspired. 

What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful? My personal favorite of my published works would be my Han Jisung x reader, Promise. It was my first kpop fic and a gift to my friend. I think it’s a hallmark of my return to writing and I look forward to publishing more of my favorite plots! My most successful is Spiderling, a Jeon Jungkook x reader fic, not surprised at all that my first official BTS fic would be the most popular one of my current works haha.

Who is your favorite person to write about? Honestly, I have so many ideas for Changkyun haha. I feel like he’s totally boyfriend material and can fit different roles from a total fratboy to a soft boyfriend. But I’m trying to expand both my writing and pairings and it’s a fun challenge to write for the different boys.

Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose? I actually do! In my honest opinion, fanfiction is work about an already established character/person/universe. It’s easier for me to think up ideas for characters already prepped because I personally get lost in the details already of thinking up terms/universes to place the story in. I have a character that’s already established and people know about without having to elaborate on those finer details.

What do you think makes a good story? Proper formatting goes a long way. While I don’t judge on grammar and spelling mistakes, it is a much smoother read if people follow basic narrative-writing skills. I feel like anyone who can embody their own style and ideas (without being discriminatory or mean), then they’ve really got me hooked.

What is your writing process like? A mess. I know a lot of people outline, and I try that sometimes. But, normally I just get straight into writing what I’ve brainstormed, maybe adding some notes for future events here and there. If I get tied up at a certain part, I make a messy line break and start another scene.

Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story? Yes. Funnily enough though, I repurpose my original storylines for fics, but if I could, I would write an original story.

What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand? I can’t stand cliches but I WILL cry over them if they’re well-written and/or have a spin on them. So, ultimately I’m down for anything. Enemy to lovers isn’t always my favorite but @gukyi​ does a great job, since that’s her renowned trope.

How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you? A lot! I have a few lovely mootz that always have something nice to say, but I would love more reader interaction! Of course, I’m a newer writer and haven’t blown up so it is to be expected that I’m a little lonely right now. I hope that’s not a long-term thing.

What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)? Who I write for. I hate to be blunt about it, but certain members and/or groups truly are more popular which is a shame at times. Plus, interacting with more mootz and authors as well as joining discord chats and networks helps by meeting new people who will interact with you and your content.

Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged? Yes, at times and with certain topics. We all know people will go on anon and tear anyone down for whatever reason.

Do you think art can be a medium for change? Definitely! Writing for the public,(especially fanfic and reader-based fics) especially in these times, means you have to adapt and adhere to the ever-changing times. We have a role to play in how people perceive things, whether that’s regarding an IRL person or how we view others with representation.

Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself? Huh, as of now, I feel like I’m writing for myself. Without a lot of interaction, I don’t feel pressure. I do want to write for other groups, but as of now I’m trying to pick up speed with certain groups. I have a lot of WIPs, so we will see where I end up.

Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times? Not that I know of, haha.

Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr? No, haha.

What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers? I love you!

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there? Don’t be afraid! It’s scary, but the worst that can happen is not writing!

Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr? HAahaha, only because the site’s interaction roles have drastically dropped and a lot of the features suck. But the people I’ve met… priceless. I love them all and a lot have impacted my life so positively.

Who’s that? Oh, I think that’s JESSABEL ELOISE AINSWORTH. They’re a SEVENTEEN year old JUNIOR at Astoria Prep. I’ve seen them hanging out with the REBELS lately. People call them the FACADE because they’re HEADSTRONG and CREATIVE, but if you ask me, they’re DETACHED and MOODY. Everyone says they look like DOVE CAMERON, but I really don’t see it. I really hope they manage to survive the school year.

i’m just gonna state it now for the record, i’m super awkward and i apologize in advance for that. but anyways, i’m kara and i am super excited to bring you my precious sinnamon roll, jessa. below the cut you’ll find out all about her ( in bullet points bc i’m too lazy to write anything else rn tbh ):

she was born jessabel eloise ainsworth to penelope eloise bordeaux-ainsworth and emerson tomas ainsworth jr. in new york city, new york. her father was a hotshot defense attorney for big names who paid him insane amounts of money to keep quiet about their affairs and ensure that they were found innocent one way or another. her mother was a broadway dancer who danced her way into everyone’s hearts and who opened her own dance studio after Jessa was born.

from day one, jessa had her father wrapped around her little finger. she was daddy’s little girl, insofar that anything she asked for, she got. both of her parents made sure that she never wanted for anything— anything, that is, but their attention, which she was never quite on the receiving end of. but jessa was always okay with only getting to see her sitters, because her parents still made sure they let her do whatever she wanted– without punishment. as far as they were concerned, jessabel was their perfect little angel.

to say she is not a fan of commitment ( of any sort ) would be an understatement. at age two, she batted her eyelashes and asked her parents to sign her up for art classes and she quit after two years. from there, she took vocal lessons, piano lessons, joined several sports teams, and even tried cheerleading– all of which she quit within a few months to a year because she grew bored. when it came down to it, one thing jessa had in common with her parents was her ability to be incredibly flaky and not want to stick through anything for a long period of time.

despite having more money than felt necessary, what jess did not have was friends– and friends weren’t something she ever really wanted anyway. the majority of her classmates had always found her off-putting, in the sense that kindness did not seem to be a word that existed in her vocabulary. lots of people had attempted to teach her to be polite, but it never quite caught on because all she understood was that she had money and some people didn’t and she didn’t necessarily grasp the concept of why she had to feel guilty for being born into a rich family when it was something she had no control over.

if anyone had ever taken the time to notice, they would have seen that her obsession with money was just a way to cover up her incredible loneliness– and that she was showing signs of depression, but her parents didn’t care enough to notice, obviously.

her oh-so–perfect life started to fall apart when when she was about fifteen and her father’s private dealings with his clients were leaked to the public. as it turned out, her father was a dirty lawyer ( something both she and her mother had known but never talked– nor cared– about ) and all the money in the world wasn’t enough to save his job.

it didn’t take long for mommy and daddy to start fighting, nor for daddy to start falling into a depression. before jess had even entered into her sophmore year of high school, her mother was packing their things and moving them halfway across the country to live with her sister.

this was about the time that jess started dabbling in things that she had never tried before, such as drugs and alcohol– particularly weed and her all-time-favorite, pain killers, which were easy for her to get her hands on because her mom never had a shortage thanks to her ‘migraines’. she found that the pills helped, particularly the so-called anti-depressants, when she felt her life getting too out of control.

it was when her grades started slipping that her mother decided she couldn’t handle her anymore— and much like she had rid herself of jessa’s problematic father, she decided to rid herself of her problematic daughter because she didn’t need more press in her life. so, loving mother that she is, she shipped her daughter off to boarding school in the middle of her sophomore year. never mind that doing so would only make jessa spiral farther out of control… it wasn’t like she had ever cared anyways.

now about to head into her senior year at astoria prep, jess is as rebellious, impulsive, and reckless as ever. she presents herself as this polite, innocent little flower to those she feels the need to fool, but anyone who gets the chance to know the real her is aware that she’s anything but… but of course, no one actually knows her.

underneath, the girl could have a heart of gold, but basically she’s decided that there isn’t much of a point in being nice. as her parents have taught her– and really, it’s the only lesson she’s felt they’ve ever taught her— being kind isn’t what gets anyone anywhere in life… it’s having money and she has a lot of it.

anndd that’s it, but here a few things about her personality: she’s super sarcastic and it’s likely to get her bitch-slapped someday ( if it hasn’t already ), money is kind of her best friend which in reality is v v sad. she’s actually incredibly depressed and suffers from both anxiety and depression but she’s never been properly diagnosed so she just thinks her parents are to blame from the way she’s always feeling ( which, in part, they are ). she loves to party, but never in big crowds unless she gets dragged to a party ( basically just bribe her with some kind of pill or any alcohol and she’s down for anything ). she’s actually really smart and somehow manages to maintain a decent grade point average ( v surprising since she never actually studies– to be honest, she could have a 4.0 if she gave a shit, which she doesn’t ). trust is not something she hands out often, if ever. the two people who were supposed to be there for her always never cared about her so she finds it hard to believe anyone else can, annnddd… i think that’s about it. i’ll add more later okay.

additional information:

her mother, penelope eloise bordeaux-ainsworth is very well known for broadway, mostly by her stage name, penny bordeaux. before starting out on broadway, she was a model, as well as a dancer for a ballet compasny in france. she met emerson while he was vacationing in france and the two moved to new york city after getting engaged and that is when she moved from doing small musicals in france to broadway shows in nyc.

jessabel is not the first member of her family to attend astoria prep. her grandfather, emerson tomas ainsworth sr., a prosecuting attorney for the state of new york, is an alum of astoria, and her father, emerson tomas ainsworth jr., is also an alum of the preparatory school.

no one at the school is aware of her father’s reputation as a dirty lawyer ( could be an interesting plot idea idk, if someone were to find out bc i imagine it is something jessa is not proud of and would like to keep secret so blackmail anyone?? ).

because of her mother, she is fluent in french, and bc she’s had so many nannies from different countries, she is fluent in italian and speaks decent Spanish, as well as decent Russian.

sketching and designing are her passions, but she’s a skilled pianist ( self-taught ), guitarist ( self-taught ), and a talented singer. she’s also played several sports, including soccer, basketball, and tennis– none of which she stuck with, because she’s a quitter.

she is a borderline ( functioning ) alcoholic and has an addiction to pain killers, anxiety medications, and antidepressants.

her biggest fears are spiders and failure. the former, she’ll admit to, but the latter, she keeps to herself so no one views her as weak.

she spends more of her time with the rebels because of her rebellious behavoir, but she’s more of a loner than anything else.

So an update on me!

Well, some great stuff happened this month that has kept me very busy IRL, and that has paired with my avoidance of fandom in a way to make me seem like I jumped off the planet. So here's a summary:

The 100 final weeks happen at the same time as my last month in university.

I'm preparing for my school to end, doing career prep, and applying for jobs

I watch ep 10 of t100 and have a gut reaction that I'm not FEELING everything that's going down like I was at the start of the season.

I basically don't watch ep 11

I get sort of spoiled for ep 11 but whatever, we knew it was cannibalkru. I hear Clarke stuff I really DONT want and I'm like "oh god I don't actually want to watch that, it doesn't sound fun." Also apparently there is no deeper unveiled Bellamy-is-still-complex plan, there's just a generic "hero now" version of him that's boring.

I don't watch ep 12. Now I'm two eps behind. I actually don't really know what happens in ep 12 except a fight or something between two women that I hate the sound of and resent knowing exists even in distant abstract. God do I not want want any of what I hear about. Kane gets eaten, maybe dies? I wish I still cared about Kane but honestly the last time I did was 2+ years ago.

Finale week. Also the week before finals week. I am still on social media (kind of) but I go off bc I know I am not gonna see the final episode today. I do see a screenshot but I don't trust it.

I take Tumblr and Twitter off my mobile home screen and don't open them, don't look at messages.

Days pass. I am, technically, 3 episodes behind. But now watching 3 hours of tv I surely won't like becomes this huge, DAUNTING task. It's so much easier to do IRL stuff. I need to do it anyway. It's good motivation!

I keep adding "Watch the 100" to my phone calendar and then keep moving it to the next day.

The only chat I'm in gets 2000+ messages in the first week. I get messages on Tumblr that I don't read bc I am pretty sure they will be like "what did you think of X spoiler" and for some reason I'm still holding onto this don't-spoil-myself thing.

OTOH, my email inbox is suspiciously empty of fanfic alerts from AO3. That's really the most damning thing, you know? It means that people who write regular little canon ficlets aren't writing. It means that not exactly does *bad* things happen to my OTP (that is fic fodder), but that fic writers are dispirited by the show and aren't being INSPIRED to write.

So now some things are piling up:

I would have to watch 11, 12, and 13 to get caught up. That's 120+ minutes of probably-unpleasant television.

I already know that it has characters I love doing specific things that make my stomach turn and make me actively resent the show

I know my fellow shippers hate it, or just feel depressed

I know many people who AREN'T bellarke shippers also hate it

I know they basically end the world again (or something??) and just like, WHY

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY

WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO REPEAT, IT'S SO PUNISHING AND BORING

I have actual, real world motive to not be on social media because I'm working really hard to get gainful employment in my chosen field and that keeps me mega busy.

SCENARIO:

IF I want to be on Tumblr/fandom THEN I will be spoiled.

IF I want to avoid being spoiled, THEN a) I can watch the ending, b) I can avoid social media.

IF I watch the ending THEN I probably will be disappointed

OPTIONS:

a) watch the ending

b) spoil the ending

c) avoid social media until I get a job and then deal with (a).

FOR NOW, I'M GOING OPTION C.

Option (c) has the added benefit of actually being good for my real life. However, it also means I've been really absent from a lot of my social fandom relationships. Sorry about that.

- I’m glad Nurf and his mom have a good relationship!! But I wonder who has custody of him? His dad? Nurf’s said some pretty unnerving stuff referencing his dad in the past, and we all saw the egg parenting episode. Which brings to mind- why did Nurf’s mom go to prison in the first place?? Clearly she’s messed-up  just a weeeeeeee bit, but could that just be her, or did she pick it up from Nurf’s dad (defending herself from him, fight fire with fire) or from prison life?? - anyway back to nikki and harrison !!! Nikki’s line from I THINK the pilot (”Unless my mom lied...again.”) REALLY comes into play this episode. She’s the type of parent that wants a child, but not a kid. You get what I mean? Nikki seems oblivious to any sort of bad behavior her mother has, not that she puts her on a pedestal, but it doesn’t look like it affects her. WHICH I’M SURE IT DOES DEEP DOWN BC HOW COULD THAT SHIT NOT but it really parallels Max’s situation, except we were able to see it on screen. JUST ADD HER TO THE GWOM ( im calling it that shut up ) AND DADVID PILE

- and harrison !! tbh i think he’s adopted. LIKE look at his...everything compared to his parents!! besides maybe the nose and face shape, they do not match up compared to the other families. Thank ya @thatfizzyyyy for tagging me (literally months ago oh god i’m so sorry) I’m gonna be answering these questions about kindling

Rules: Answer the questions and then tag as many writers as there are questions answered (or as many as you can) to spread the positivity! Even if these questions are not explicitly brought up in the novel, they are still good to keep in mind when writing.

 FIRST LOOK

 1. Describe your novel in 1-2 sentences (elevator pitch)

The superhero lifestyle is not as ideal as it seems and whilst Erik is battling supervillains he is also losing a fight with crippling insecurities. If that wasn’t enough there is a terrorist faction attempting to eradicate those with powers and if Erik wants to save him or his newfound family he has to join forces with his nemesis.

 2. How long do you plan for your novel to be? (Is it a novella, single book, book series, etc.)

Just a single book for now but I rlly love the characters and the setting so who knows

 3. What is your novel’s aesthetic?

Red satin capes, denim jackets lined with fur, dirty paintbrushes, round gold rimmed glasses, make-shift picnics, neon lights and art galleries

 4. What other stories inspire your novel?

There’s not really any stories in particular but Rainbow Rowell’s writing style really pushed me to write it and my love of superheroes played a big part

Oh that’s actually really hard…I have no idea

 MAIN CHARACTER

 6. Who is your protagonist?

Erik Rivera AND Gabriel Flynn (duel POV)

 7. Who is their closest ally?

Erik has two best friends; Juno and Noel but he is closest with his adopted-sort-of-mum Mrs Velasquez

Gabriel doesn’t rlly have friends but Jai keeps him company when Gabe’s not being mean to him

 8. Who is their enemy?

Erik- Gabe, thinks he’s an emo asshole

Gabe- Erik, thinks he’s a righteous idiot

 9. What do they want more than anything?

Erik- He would say that he wants world peace or some sort of break from constantly having to save people. But honestly he just wants to be normal and have a mundane happy life

Gabe- He would lie and say something stupid like world domination but honestly he just wants someone to care about him, he knows that he doesn’t deserve that though

 10. Why can’t they have it?

Erik- He has been ‘cursed’ with a hectic life and the ability to fly

Gabe- He pushes everyone away

 11. What do they wrongly believe about themselves?

Erik- He thinks that he offers nothing and that he can’t possibly be useful, this manifests in his hatred of his flying abilities

Gabe- He thinks he is unlovable

12. Draw your protagonist! (Or share a description)

Erik- He has blonde slightly curled hair, relatively tanned skin, big brown eyes, quite slim but physically strong, has a dancer’s physique, wears glasses when he’s reading, when he’s not in superhero-mode he’s probably covered in paint

Gabe- Black buzz cut, bright blue eyes, always frowning, very pale- to the point where he has very visible veins, more well-built than Erik but not by much, always wearing black from head to toe, slightly shorter than Erik but he wears platform boots

Someone is trying to drive powered individuals extinct which affects both boys and the people they care about

Erik- being responsible for the death of a loved one

Gabe- losing his abilities, he relies on them too much

Spoilers! But it involves romance…

Kind of, but I’m just along for the ride at the moment

It’s more carefree than my other WIP, I don’t have as much pressure associated with Kindling and I rlly like that.

For this WIP I’m just following where the story is going, barely in charge tbh
