First 9 holes are officially in the books with the new @golfsub70 clubs (and second round period post amputation) and I couldn’t be happier! I do need to work on my driver and woods to get some air on them but the strength of my game stays the same… my short game. Anything from 50 yards and in I’ve always been solid and that thankfully hasn’t changed. With a new mentality that isn’t the “Grip it and rip it” mindset, even mediocre drives will set me up for a par chance at least every hole. I hit some bad shots and lost a new @logicalonegolf Trust ball but with having played 9 holes of golf one leg prior to today, I fully expected worse. July 18th 2020: Shane and I are back in action after 4 months off because of COVID!Riding again felt amazing! It was a pretty great ride all things considered! I’ve lost some of my core and I started leaning back in the saddle because of fatigue again. I’m a little frustrated because of it but I know I’m going to work back up to where I was. We just focused on transitioning from walk to halt and getting him to walk with intention, and then went on a short trail ride around property. Shane was a good boy even though getting him to walk on in the heat took a lot of my energy. Honored to once again represent Team USA at the ISA World Para Surfing Championships hosted by AmpSurf. There were some fun and challenging conditions with some fantastic surfers. While I did not advance to the finals, I was able to contribute to Team Gold. Mark my words, there will be 2 medals around my neck next year. Track Thanks (Part 2 of 2) | 💪🏽💨♿️ Everyone, meet my new ride, Jhené. Haha on a real note though, just wanted to sincerely thank a few more people with this post regarding my recent track/racing endeavors. Thank you to @cafoundation for providing me with an athlete’s grant which allowed me to purchase a brand new custom racing chair!! With that, thank you to @_topendwheelchair for manufacturing this beautiful piece of sports equipment from scratch, and for keeping me closely in the loop during the manufacturing and delivery process. As always, huge thank you to my racing coach @skinner19661985 from @parasportspokane for not only training me these past few years, but for also helping me make the big transition with my seating position in my racing chair; from using a foot-plate to now a kneeling position. Lastly, thank you to everyone else that supports me in any way shape or form. Zdravíme z Avion Shopping Park Brno. Tento diskontní ježek je asi to jediné zajímavé, co tu zbylo...

V rámci brněnské afirmativní akce "Nikdo nesmí zůstat bez kavárny" došlo po nemocnicích, startupech, softwarových gigantech nebo galeriích a muzeích na úřady. A průkopnickým činem v rámci možného budoucího zápolení – dovedete si představit latte ligu mezi OFŘ, Katastrálním úřadem, Finančním úřadem Brno I. až IV. či SZPI? – se zdá být přístup Krajského úřadu Jihomoravského kraje, který veřejnosti zpřístupnil působivé foyer a vnitřní prostor tím, že zde na počátku července otevřel kavárnu.

Podnik s bohulibým úmyslem, dodejme vzápětí, protože Teamcafe bistro je odštěpek provozu, který již delší dobu funguje na Vídeňské a krédo Každé zrnko pomáhá je v míře vrchovaté uplatňováno i zde. Ceny jsou tu mírné (espresso 40, cappuccino a doppio 55, skleničkový řez Míša 39 a frgál 35) a obsluha velice vlídná – zvláště muž se zjevným zdravotním znevýhodněním byl zdvořilost sama.

Člověk pak skoro přehlédne, že zrno na espressu představuje brazilka San Rafael od QB, jež je transparentně uvedena na tabulce na chladící vitríně. Jsou tu i obědy a když dám stranou ekonomickou udržitelnost projektu, vítězi budou nejspíš pracovníci úřadu a a jejich návštěvy, které mohou u kafíčka prodebatovat nejeden formulář a směrnici. A ve světlém interiéru protkaném sbírkou pokojovek by se jim to mohlo podařit...

Avion Shopping Park Brno je posledních pár let v těžkém úpadku a spolu s OC Futurum stojí na chvostu brněnských retailových center. Při poslední návštěvě IKEA jsem zjistil, že tu už není ani rohové H&M a polovina jednotek zeje prázdnotou. Otvírat v takovém prostředí kavárnu je pak gestem odvahy či spíše šílenství.

Lehce přes týden fungující Kavárna A&M představuje jeden z vrcholů neútulnosti, a to i v rámci nikterak vysokého kofeinového standardu nákupních galerií. Čtyři nebo pět stolků, slečna ze servisu schovaná v kumbálku s výhledem na zrcadlo informující o příchozích, ceny kávy (espresso 55) neodpovídající základní italské surovině a tuctová nabídka zákusků (dorty za 65 Kč) a něčeho k snědku (různě plněné kapsy a sendviče). V zásobníku Macapu namleto a na mléko jsem se raději neptal. Facebook a Instagram neexistující a v lokále nula zákazníků.

Kavárna A&M čtvrtý den provozu. Obávám se, že velmi podobně to tu bude vypadat i čtvrtý týden nebo měsíc.

Pamatujete na Mamuta? Mám tím na mysli letitý a velmi obyčejný pub na konci masovými provozy prošpikované ulice Bašty. Na webu visí týdenní menu z prosince 2022 a v úvodu stránek čteme naději na dubnové otevření, ke kterému zjevně nedošlo, protože od letních prázdnin se zde pomalu rozjížděl NÁDR BRNO hostinec & kantýna.

Kdesi jsem zaslechl, že jde o další počin Lidí z Baru, ale to se mi nezdá. Na to je podnik velmi málo fancy, bez příběhu i přepjaté marketingové kampaně. Přesto mě ale jeden ze sponzorovaných instagramových příspěvků zasáhl a tak jsem se tam zašel podívat. Precizně ošetřenou tankovou Plzeň člověk najde na dalších deseti místech v centru nebo i ve stejné ulici, samovýčep už asi není takové terno jako před dvaceti lety a guláše, vrabce, svíce, hermoše a utopence mají všude. A slova řemeslný a naše to nevytrhrnou.

Na kávu ani mléko jsem se v takovém podniku neptal – v koutku vedle výčepu mají Eagle One Prima a Anfim Praticu – a slečna za barem byla milá a usměvavá. (V duchu jsem ji politoval, protože v pátek večer se tu, stejně jako v celé ulici, která je pro mě zkrácenou verzí Stodolní, asi musejí dít věci.) Čím se vlastně podnik vymyká tuctu podobných? Snad tím, že ve webové i IG prezentaci umanutě používá slůvko aj.

Na konci týdne jsem procházel kolem Café Paměti národa na Radnické a na vchodových dveřích uvedeno: zkušební provoz říjen 2023, prosíme o trpělivost, zaučujeme se. Nebylo tu cosi podobného už před rokem? Ale ovšem. Kavárna má totiž jiného provozního a dost možná i jiného nájemce, protože menu vypadalo jinak.

Mateřská organizace zůstává stejná, řekl mi muž, který instruoval sličnou dívenku za barem, ale káva je tu stále popelkou, což znamená, že aktuálně domílají podle všeho masivní zásobu rebelského The Underdog, aby poté přišel na řadu My Daily Mix. Fuj. Tentokrát jsem se už neovládl a klidně a vlídně řekl, že je škoda, že druhou nejméně povedenou kávu pražírny nahradí ta úplně nejhorší. Jinak se tady zřejmě nezměnilo nic a snad se i napřesrok potkáme s další cedulkou na dveřích a novým panem provozním uvnitř.

Hey guys! I’m really excited to share that I’ve finally started my lease horse hunt again! This little cutie is Emmaline, a four year old rescue mare owned by Jane Whitehurst of Nosara Farms. My parents took me out to see her on Thursday. She was previously feral so we don’t know what breed she is but she has a beautiful flaxen chestnut coat, a star on her forehead, and white socks on her back legs. She has been schooling training and introductory level dressage. When she met me, it was the first time she had ever seen a wheelchair, but she wasn’t bothered by it at all. Nothing seemed to phase her, even if I approached her from behind at a distance. She was super loving and gentle, and even let me lead her with no problems. Being with Emmaline felt like a dream. I have to wait for my barn to reopen again before I can try riding her because Jane doesn’t have a way of getting me on at her stable as of yet, but I really hope we mesh well together because it feels like a match made in heaven. Maybe I can go see her again soon.
