John DeNicola Finds His Own Voice on "You're the Only One"

If you're over the age of 30, you likely know songs written by John DeNicola. He's written for many prominent artists. But his bug claim to fame is the soundtrack to legendary film, Dirty Dancing. Along with his songwriting partner, Frankie Previte, DeNicola penned the memorable hits "Hungry Eyes" and "(I've Had) The Time of My Life." While he's been writing songs for 30+ years, he's never released an album. His songs have always been for others to sing. That looks like it's about to change as he's announced his but album, The Why Because.  In addition to his own re-workings of the two previously mentioned hits, you'll find many other hidden gems. His first single "You're the Only One" was originally written for a Stallon flick, titled Avenging Angelo (never heard of it). I'm guessing that movie never got it's own soundtrack. But it's a pleasant number and you can definitely hear the trademark DeNicola sound it. The Why Because is releasing October 25th, on Omad Records. Lesibu Grand "Hush Hush"

We've just been tipped off on this outfit out of Atlanta, Georgia (pronounced Le-SEE-boo Grand). Singer, Tyler-Simone Molton, has a buttery voice which makes the single "Hush Hush" feel like it's floating on air. If the video flies past you too quickly, fear not. The audio version of the song is considerably longer! https://soundcloud.com/teamclermont/lesibu-grand-hush-hush Tyler-Simone grew up in a diverse neighborhood in the suburbs of Atlanta, a somewhat conventional-looking place with a surprising degree of creative vitality. There, she was exposed to a great variety of musical genres. Molton loved the local hip-hop heroes (Outkast, Lil Wayne), but also hung out with punks and indie kids. She also loved listening to late-70s new wave bands like Talking Heads and Blondie, punk bands like the Clash, and 90s rockers Green Day, and Nirvana. She did not cling to one genre as her identity.  A transplant from New England, John moved to Athens, GA while playing bass for Ace of Heart Records’ alt-rock band Crab Daddy.
