The concrete scraped against his cheek, stinging as he slid along it. Gravel and grime made its way into the fresh cuts that sprouted along his arms, bringing new tears to his eyes to wash away the old. He came to a halt against the damp stone wall, small ears flattening to his scalp with the booming shout that echoed through the alleyway.

His vision was encompassed in fiery red, shielding him from the world around him as he curled into himself. Tiny arms wrapped around his head, the frantic rocking of his frame willed the horrors away.

Posting Schedule: Remember when I said I might have to push back updates? Yeah, that. As the chapter lengths grow and I'm doing more art on the side, I need to allow the time to 'refine' so nothing comes across rushed. Chapter 8 is sitting at just over 8k words currently and I might be adding another scene, for example. Things are progressing behind the scenes (I’ve written most of the next 3 chapters and the "story” is done) which I'm tentatively happy about, and there's a lot of detail coming, so I'll be moving updates to every 2 weeks to accommodate for that. Once again, if anything changes I shall spraff about it here. I will likely start posting more snippets and art to make up for the lack of content, so I'll still be here regardless of posting schedule. Also, I need to see your shit, so.

Cover Art News (which loosely ties into this weeks lack of chapter): I've decided to drop one of the covers that I had planned, for reasons. I'm going to try and squeeze someone into another cover in their place so the total 14 remain, but we are officially moving on to the Augmented Cover Boys as of next week.

Another Thing: I have updated the story tags on Ao3 to what I feel is more appropriate. Most notably, Mystery and Suspense were added with Chapter 6, because I really haven’t given you guys anything yet lmfao. As the story progresses and I’m addressing certain issues more heavily than I thought I would be, the tags may change accordingly. Keep an eye on those if this is something you feel you need to do.
