Technology Upgrades Are Not Enough: Why People, Training, and Mentorship Matter More
In an era where AI, automation, and digital transformation dominate business conversations, organizations are rushing to upgrade their technology. But here’s the hard truth: Technology alone doesn’t guarantee success. It’s the people using it that determine whether an upgrade is a game-changer or just another expensive, underutilized tool. A recent white paper on AI transformation highlights…

As cameras becomes more normalized (Sarah Bernhardt encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use cameras because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by manufacturing companies. I paint not because I want a painting but because I love the process of painting. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.
if i have to explain to you that using a camera to take a picture is not the same as using generative ai to generate an image then you are a fucking moron.
#ask me#anon#no more patience for this#i've heard this for the past 2 years#“an object created and controlled by companies” anon the company cannot barge into your home and take your camera away#or randomly change how it works on a whim. you OWN the camera that's the whole POINT#the entire point of a camera is that i can control it and my body to produce art. photography is one of the most PHYSICAL forms of artmakin#you have to communicate with your space and subjects and be conscious of your position in a physical world.#that's what makes a camera a tool. generative ai (if used wholesale) is not a tool because it's not an implement that helps you#do a task. it just does the task for you. you wouldn't call a microwave a “tool”#but most importantly a camera captures a REPRESENTATION of reality. it captures a specific irreproducible moment and all its data#read Roland Barthes: Studium & Punctum#generative ai creates an algorithmic IMITATION of reality. it isn't truth. it's the average of truths.#while conceptually that's interesting (if we wanna get into media theory) but that alone should tell you why a camera and ai aren't the sam#ai is incomparable to all previous mediums of art because no medium has ever solely relied on generative automation for its creation#no medium of art has also been so thoroughly constructed to be merged into online digital surveillance capitalism#so reliant on the collection and commodification of personal information for production#if you think using a camera is “automation” you have worms in your brain and you need to see a doctor#if you continue to deny that ai is an apparatus of tech capitalism and is being weaponized against you the consumer you're delusional#the fact that SO many tumblr lefists are ready to defend ai while talking about smashing the surveillance state is baffling to me#and their defense is always “well i don't engage in systems that would make me vulnerable to ai so if you own an apple phone that's on you”#you aren't a communist you're just self-centered

Dungeon Meshi: The RPG
#Dungeon Meshi#laios touden#marcille donato#chilchuck tims#senshi#animation#game dev diary#Please give a huge hand to my coding partner#who labored for over two weeks to figure out how to implement reaction animation for the battle icons.#You may also notice that I updated the battle portraits from my previous post! New and (mostly) improved!#The death screens were not changed because I didn't think they'd get used for this video.#But Chilchuck getting one-shotted and leaving due to this being outside of his pay? Accidental comedy gold.#The full sprite (I didn't realize the bottom third would be hidden) says: “NOT PAID FOR THIS”#And yeah he's smoking. He gets a smoke break as part of his contract. Let a guy have his vices. He's teetering on a divorce.#Dungeon Meshi would be a fun rpg in theory but it would need to have immersive mechanics like cooking and foraging.#And hunger and fatigue and other status effects.#A slightly more lighthearted fear and hunger sort of game.#But that is for some other fan to do. This is just a fun tech demo for us to learn RPG maker!#So...with this mini-project concluded#we now have a foundation we can pass over to our actual game!#Next game dev post will be some game assets (probably busts and battle icons for the main party)#And after that! Most likely some more sprite sheets (I have made a few more since my first attempt)#Thank you for everyone who has been rooting us on since I started talking about this project. It means a ton B'*)

#this is vee speaking#not that we expected anything less lol like china and skorea were pretty much on lock for a movie release lol#the tech used doesn’t sound too difficult to implement but you honestly never know lmao#it’s also really crazy to see us movie news sites covering this movie lol#like yeah they should be but it’s also like really lol???? my niche little anime hiphop franchise lol??????#i’m excited for the possibilities lol like i think they had recently added subs for the trailers in cn and kr????#and they initially dropped with eng subs the voting app itself has eng support there’s like!!!!!!!#a Sliver of hope for the western fans lmao i hope it does go worldwide lol#not just us and seasia but like europe!!!!! and latam!!!!!! it’d be so fun lmao just throw the movie out for a gimmick experience lol#i doubt there’s enough financial justification for it but fck it bro lmao *otome voice* just do it!!!!

i tend to be kind of defensive of staff because like... i'm a software dev, i know how absurdly expensive and complex a web service of this size is. plus they're looking at the site on the scale of tens of millions of users, whereas my sample of a couple hundred at most is not nearly representative. plus i'm really grateful that they've kept tumblr friendly to 3rd-party developers (i.e., xkit rewritten, tumblr api)
but i think many of the changes over the past few months have seriously damaged user trust and that's an extremely serious problem that needs to be corrected
anyways, submit your feedback to staff here. please keep in mind that these changes are almost certainly coming from the top, not whoever will be reading your comments or doing the actual programming
#i've lived through like 3 different 'this is the end of tumblr for sure' events#so i'm certain i'll still be using tumblr years from now and things will mostly be fine#but we had a good period where it felt like staff was really listening to its users and implementing very popular features#so hopefully we can get back to that#tech

okay i could talk about canadian nationalism all day but i think it's so fucked that people are suggesting people visit canada rather than the US if they're scared of ICE. the border security is WORSE here, they just don't have ICE... like you will simply get turned away at the border and deported or put in migrant detention.

i find the common implication that Google of all companies wasn't already using up a ton of water and energy before its implementation of AI annoying but it is true that the AI results feature is bad and useless and therefore an extra waste of water and energy for no practical purpose. i would have no problem with posts that just say that instead of bizarrely wording it like "well google USED to be fine but NOW thanks to AI it uses a million billion tons of water"
#rambles#i have complicated feelings on AI because i think the tech development itself is really interesting and there is defo usage for it#i don't agree with the posts insisting it's all garbage or unimpressive technology because i think it definitely is impressive#but the hype behind it and company rush to implement it everywhere is resulting in junk features and extra waste for no good reason#and i mean god. hype to implement new tech in everything regardless of if it's useful there has def happened before

honestly the fact that procreate is apparently working on a destop application is pretty sweet, its def understandable how it became like a workhorse for a lot of people, its super lightweight and can still do a lot of stuff, even if it's ui is extremely minimal and takes some learning. I hope it'll be good n work on windows tbh
#i dont use procreate as much anymore bc im kinda picky abt what i refer to as the 'brush engine' but im unsure if thstd what it rlly is#i dont like how the brushes handle. its a good app ive made a lot of art in it most of my jjba stuff was made in procreate#i almost exclusively used it up until my last semesrer of college#n had it on my ipad mini. but uh. i do not. i dont rlly like how brushes feel in it#it could even he an issue with the apple pencil and its pressure sensitivity compared to a tablet and ptsai#so i cant wait to see if maybe ive just been doing things wrong#but as long as procreate is a one time purchase. i say get it if you can#my irl homie makes crazy shit in it. animations and pixel art n everything#i just. it doesnt feel right. im glad clip studio implemented a minimalist ui because thats been the best of both workds for me tbh#just yappin here about tech stuff mostly dont worry about me#not art

I’ll admit until recently I didn’t catch the game’s implication at all that the engrams Alt takes would be somehow destroyed or automatically merged into Alt? I just don’t understand the technical requirement in that. However, that does also make me wonder about the relic prototype, which has to be in some sort of stable environment? Which to me just smelled of plot device to get it into V’s head, but now I’m wondering if you can consider the relic to be alive, and if it requires some sort of external stimulus, some sort of companion device for I/O, and I’m also wondering if that means Johnny was dreaming in there.
#saving state Is a difficult problem and I could understand there might be complications there#i’m still not fully convinced that this problem would lead to engrams becoming unrecoverable#but restoring them might be unpleasant for them#cyberpunk 2077#cyberpunk meta#i guess i’m just really fascinated by the implications of interfacing a digitized consciousness#with lots of different form factors it was not evolved to handle#i mean this software is literally emulating a human brain#there’s bound to be weird shit going on and i am fascinated by the implications#even if i’m a little miffed at the handwaviness of all the tech in game#i’m a sucker for implementation details what can i say

I thought that being pirate themed Sol! Omega could be obsessed with treasure hunting as to conquer all the treasures before Captain Whiskers.
But treasure hunting is more Rouge's thing, what means then that should be left for Sol!Rouge...
Oooooooooor, this could be a shared interest of both Sol!Rouge and Sol! Omega
Oooooooooor Sol!Rouge could be more of an explorer/wanderer/traveler, more interested in seeing nature than finding treasures
Anon I am kissing you on the forehead.
Changing around the interests of Sol Rouge and Omega 100% works for me, as I don't want them being carbon copies of their chaos dimension counterparts. Blaze and Rime aren't exactly the same as Sonic and Shadow after all! So a treasure hunting robot? Who's decided actually, I want to keep this hard earned treasure for MYSELF rather than give it to Captain Whisker? Perfect. Incredible. I love it. That's got the same chaotic neutral vibes as Omega, but not necessarily centred around destruction.
Sol Rouge being an explorer also slots in perfectly with the vague idea I had of him being the one to wake Rime up rather than Eggman Nega - sort of merging the two times Shadow got woken (first by Eggman and second by Rouge). So he could have found her while exploring! Finding treasure can be another interest of his, as if you're exploring a new area you're bound to find something! So that definitely could be a shared interest. Being an explorer also means Sol Rouge would probably get along well with Marine, and could take her along on adventures :]
#answered#genuinely thank u so much i love these ideas and will be implementing them for sure!!!#i think rime would end up working with nega for a bit at first like if she finds out he's related to gertrude#(a hundred years down the line)#but i don't think nega would go looking for her bc he's more about tech while rime was created by magic#like he might not even believe she's real until she actually shows up at his door LOL#this is of course retconning nega being a descendant of eggman. i'm just making him the sol version of eggman btw#maybe he still time travels tho idk lmao. still figuring that out#rimeverse

idk if people on tumblr know about this but a cybersecurity software called crowdstrike just did what is probably the single biggest fuck up in any sector in the past 10 years. it's monumentally bad. literally the most horror-inducing nightmare scenario for a tech company.
some info, crowdstrike is essentially an antivirus software for enterprises. which means normal laypeople cant really get it, they're for businesses and organisations and important stuff.
so, on a friday evening (it of course wasnt friday everywhere but it was friday evening in oceania which is where it first started causing damage due to europe and na being asleep), crowdstrike pushed out an update to their windows users that caused a bug.
before i get into what the bug is, know that friday evening is the worst possible time to do this because people are going home. the weekend is starting. offices dont have people in them. this is just one of many perfectly placed failures in the rube goldburg machine of crowdstrike. there's a reason friday is called 'dont push to live friday' or more to the point 'dont fuck it up friday'
so, at 3pm at friday, an update comes rolling into crowdstrike users which is automatically implemented. this update immediately causes the computer to blue screen of death. very very bad. but it's not simply a 'you need to restart' crash, because the computer then gets stuck into a boot loop.
this is the worst possible thing because, in a boot loop state, a computer is never really able to get to a point where it can do anything. like download a fix. so there is nothing crowdstrike can do to remedy this death update anymore. it is now left to the end users.
it was pretty quickly identified what the problem was. you had to boot it in safe mode, and a very small file needed to be deleted. or you could just rename crowdstrike to something else so windows never attempts to use it.
it's a fairly easy fix in the grand scheme of things, but the issue is that it is effecting enterprises. which can have a looooot of computers. in many different locations. so an IT person would need to manually fix hundreds of computers, sometimes in whole other cities and perhaps even other countries if theyre big enough.
another fuck up crowdstrike did was they did not stagger the update, so they could catch any mistakes before they wrecked havoc. (and also how how HOW do you not catch this before deploying it. this isn't a code oopsie this is a complete failure of quality ensurance that probably permeates the whole company to not realise their update was an instant kill). they rolled it out to everyone of their clients in the world at the same time.
and this seems pretty hilarious on the surface. i was havin a good chuckle as eftpos went down in the store i was working at, chaos was definitely ensuring lmao. im in aus, and banking was literally down nationwide.
but then you start hearing about the entire country's planes being grounded because the airport's computers are bricked. and hospitals having no computers anymore. emergency call centres crashing. and you realised that, wow. crowdstrike just killed people probably. this is literally the worst thing possible for a company like this to do.
crowdstrike was kinda on the come up too, they were starting to become a big name in the tech world as a new face. but that has definitely vanished now. to fuck up at this many places, is almost extremely impressive. its hard to even think of a comparable fuckup.
a friday evening simultaneous rollout boot loop is a phrase that haunts IT people in their darkest hours. it's the monster that drags people down into the swamp. it's the big bag in the horror movie. it's the end of the road. and for crowdstrike, that reaper of souls just knocked on their doorstep.

Finally looked up what Severance is about since it is appearing on my dash more and the fact it is about corporate "classified" work as opposed to actual government feels very accurate.
#they would absolutely implement this if they could#could being if they had the tech for it#if an employer tells me they own the thoughts in my head when I'm at work I'm skinning them
