Techworkers in 2028, when the government tries to take away their essential medications (HRT, SSRIs, ADHD meds, etc):
The poetic similitude, that the neural net computer he smashes is based on the CM1, the godfather of all modern GPUs fuelling neural network bullshit today.
Code has never been more fragile than it is today. The potential for genuine political action through it is beyond imagination.

When the government takes away their essential medications, I cannot see how else this will go.
As the great matron saint of computing, Emmanuel "Cereal Killer" Goldstein once said:
1998 was a typo.

Once you go down the Thiel rabbit hole you will understand why so many are concerned about his connection to Trump, JD Vance and Elon Musk.
This meme barely scratches the surface.

V-tail Beechcrafts are kinda the airplane version of Lamborghinis, in that they are infamous for ending up crashed by upper-middle-class affluent technical experts like doctors, engineers, or lawyers; who buy them as a hobby project and then overestimate their ability to handle such dangerous toys.

"But by the 1970s, the great proprietors had gotten tired of this arrangement. The generation with direct adult experience of how destabilized societies can explode into a worldwide slaughterhouse was retiring and dying."

I'm interested in building machines that contain ai locally, instead of on massive cloud computers that drain entire rivers. Not only would this take ai out of the hands of technocrats and give it to the people, it might start to resolve some of the environmental issues around ai usage

I don't mean this in a snarky way, more of a wet-smack-across-the-face-snap-out-of-it sort of way. This will never happen. Not with anyone in charge, but certainly not with the milquetoast, doughy motherfuckers that pass for politicians these days.
Reading the comments of this post and it's just more pure delusion, written as if the only thing preventing these actions from occurring is that someone hadn't thought of them until now.
We did this shit back in the Mueller days, early in Trump's presidency. Looking back, it was just straight up cope. We fantasied of some unnamed rule of law coming in the night to lock his ass up and restore our brunch reservations.
Maybe this sort of fantasy is important for processing trauma, so I don't want to judge too harshly. I honestly don't know. But, if we allow ourselves to get hypnotized by these types of revenge p*rn, battle-plans-that-fit-on-a-marquee fantasies, for the next 4,8,20 years, we're in bad shape.
Those people—the ones who have the power to do that—they're not coming to save us. So it might be best if we stop framing this fight as the system prevailing over evil. The purpose of the system is what it does, and this system protects the wealthy at all costs.

Tech workers in 2028, when RFK tries to take away HRT, SSRIs, ADHD, Ozempic, etc:
The fragility in tech created by move-fast-break-stuff is gonna be how we get any leverage when the political fireworks really start going off.
Big Tech can't "fix" this or make it go away: its baked into the culture.
Change would demand changing the culture, and it would neccesitate due-dilligence, review, transparency and understanding none of which are profitable or concealable.
All it takes is one COBOL boomer to retire, or one person to change a few lines of code.
The bottleneck is not workforce capacity: Its contextural vacuum and code discovery.
We've got them by the balls, whether they realize it or not.

It's funny to think about big tech's most evil men, and how so many of them are just hurt children who became cartoon villains because someone embarrassed them.
Marc Andreessen, developer turned venture capitalist, went full fascist after he got dragged by the internet for a racist tweet about India.
Mark Zuckerberg is now a douchey right-wing tech bro after many questioned if he was human after the Cambridge Analytica hearings.
Elon Musk, well, where do we begin? He started pumping out petri dish white babies after a botched penis enlargement, and paid $44 billion for the social media platform that made fun of him incessantly.
